Cutie Mark Story

A large amount of rain was scheduled for Baltimare and Amethyst's family feared their vineyard wouldn't produce well under those conditions. When Amethyst learned of the situation, she thought of a plan.

On the day of the rainfall, she flew up to the clouds intending to create an opening around the farm, but she hesitated. Being the only pegasus in the family, she didn't know a thing about weather manipulation. It could be dangerous trying to move a rain cloud, so Amethyst approached her parents with the issue. They suggested she enroll in the weather control training courses. Amethyst agreed and was soon part of the weather training program at the school.

She worked harder than ever. Her usual procrastination was gone and she found the courses interesting and enjoyable.

She was a good student but sometimes couldn't resist shaping the clouds into images instead of following the directions. Even so, the teacher encouraged the creativity, just not the timing of it. So instead Amethyst waited until the training session was over before she'd practice shaping the clouds.

After weeks of training, Amethyst felt she was ready. She waited eagerly for the next rainy day, and when it arrived, she rushed outside while everypony was still asleep.

Amethyst flew up to the clouds, pushing and molding. And after multiple refinements, she finally felt she was done and rushed back inside.

Everypony had started to wake up when she excitingly called them outside. When they followed her out, big smiles appeared on their faces.

Instead of rain drops, a ray of sun shine blanketed their grapes. And not only that, but the opening in the rain clouds have been sculpted into a heart.

Her parents praised her work as her little brothers cheered. Amethyst sat down with a grin from ear to ear.

She only wanted to learn weather manipulation to help the farm, but the little filly found herself loving the ability to shape clouds much more than she expected. She'd often gaze at the sky and observe all the pictures the clouds could make, but now she can sculpt them herself!

Amethyst felt compelled to glance at her flank, and when she did, she discovered her cutie mark had appeared. A cluster of clouds with the largest one shaped like a heart.

Ever since then she's honed her abilities and became quite skilled at it. She also took up clay sculpting to refine her skills in the sky. As a result her work is now quite an impressive sight.

History

Amethyst grew up in a Baltimare grape farm with her parents and two little brothers. All of which are earth ponies. Both parents taught her the tricks of the trade when it comes to grape farming.

Mulberry Harvest, her father, always rallied up the family and encouraged a team spirit while he and Amethyst's mother, Periwinkle, showed her how to make grape juice and other grape related recipes.

Amethyst's two little brothers, Vineyard and Sugar Grape were a hand full, but they had a lot of fun together. They especially loved mashing the grapes up with Amethyst to make juice.

Her family taught her the value of team work, consistency, patience, optimism, kindness, and helpfulness.

After earning her cutie mark, Amethyst joined the weather team hoping to find a place she could fit in. But she wasn't focused nor fast enough to get the job done right so she was dismissed from the team.

Afterwards, Amethyst started to search elsewhere for a more fitting occupation. That's when she saw a pony sky writing for some kind of event.

After the pony was done, Amethyst approached the older Filly, named Flourish, and talked with her. Eventually, she asked if she could be a part of the Cloud Crossers and Flourish agreed.

Amethyst breezed through training, as her sculpting skills gave her an edge on creative cloud manipulation. It didn't take long before she was an official part of their team.

Her penmareship wasn't as good as Flourish's, and her styles were more limited, but it was pretty decent. She also found her cloud sculpting skills becoming a valuable asset to the occupation as someponies requested sky pictures occasionally.

After getting the job, Amethyst moved out of the farm and into the home base of the Cloud Crossers. Her family missed her of course, but they weren't far so she visited often and still cleared the skies above their vineyard when they needed it.

Amethyst became best friends with her teammates and settled into her new dwelling nicely. She even grew a little grape farm in her yard and often made them desserts and juice from her harvest.

Character Summary

Amethyst was the only pegasus in the family and as a result acts, thinks, and behaves more like an earth pony. Her flying skills are decent enough to sky sculpt and cloud write, but she's not the best at speed or agility.

She likes, napping, cloudy days, grape juice, rain, cloud writing, cloud sculpting, clay sculpting, going swimming, learning about science and agriculture.

She dislikes sunny days, spicy food, formal gatherings, not getting enough sleep, doing chores.

As for her positive traits, by default She's a very mellow, calm pegasus who doesn't get worked up often. Her outgoing personality allows her to take everything in stride, which makes her very generous as well. She showers her friends and family with gifts, never expecting anything in return.

She may appear indifferent to those who don't know her, but she would accompany others even if it's just to wait in line at the doctor's office. She loves to be around others and help them out.

Inquisitive by nature, she loves to understand the logic and science behind everything. How the growth of plants work, how magic works, why heating things up makes it melt, ect. She's no scientist, but a very curious mare nonetheless.

As for the negative traits, she can be too giving, often spending all her bits on a gift for somepony before realizing she didn't have enough to buy lunch anymore. She's also too nonchalant and has a hard time doing anything she dislikes. As a result, she puts things off until the last minute.

She can be on the lazy side and will fall asleep anytime she's being still. She's also stubborn and has a hard time admitting it when she's wrong.

Fears and worries

She dislikes feeling like she can't cheer a pony up and won't be able to think about anything else until they feel better. She also worries about letting her procrastination get out of hand at times.
