Physique: Applejack's body is well-toned and muscular, especially in the four legs. Apple family lineage, Earth pony inclination towards strength, and her tireless schedule give her a body of great strength and endurance. Has a little bit of a belly- something else that the Apple family lineage gives her.

After a tumultuois childhood experience, Applejack was dejected and torn up about her life on the farm. Seeking to find herself, she left the farm for the big city under the care of her Aunt and Uncle Orange. There she tried to be a big city filly, but was always two steps off and one saying obtuse. She was fitting in even worse and a terrible case of homesickness wasn't helping matters any. As she contemplated what to do, a rainbow crack across the sky followed by a rainbow itself seemed to point all the way home. In that moment she was caught up by fate and an overwhelming desire to return home, where once she arrived her Cutie Mark appeared- symbolizing that above all things, she was an Apple of Sweet Apple Acres, where her heart would always and truly belong.

Unique Traits: Applejack almost always wears an aging stetson and carries a long measurement of lasso with her whenever she feels the need to be prepared. Along with this, few ponies are as experienced with a lasso as her and she can use it effectively in just about any scenario, from the needs of the farm to the town to adventure. Has also nicknamed her incredibly powerful back legs, Bucky McGillycuddy and Kicks McGee.

History:

Applejack was born to a father who was an Earth Pony and a mother who was a Pegasus, an odd union to be sure but nontheless a happy childhood was Applejack's main gift from them. Life on the farm wasn't always easy, but there were few families better and with a vast support network few farms or orchards were as humming with activity and possibility. Her father taught Applejack everything she needed to know about apple bucking and harvesting and her mother taught her all about the dangers of the Everfree and the best means to grow the varied produce that the orchard thrived on. More importantly, her parents, her granny, and eventually her older brother all instilled in little Applejack a deep and abidding love of family and farm. Such a powerful message required powerful messengers, and everypony Applejack knew carried the word of Celestia herself to the little filly who could never dream of them ever being wrong or anything ever going askew when they were involved. And so she grew up in a stable environment, learning more about the Apple family and their traditions alongside farming. It was a perfect childhood for her.

Which made the tragedy that followed even worse. Despite the warnings about the Everfree and her mother's knowledge base, there were few things that ponies could do when the Everfree spat something new and strange out. A new illness swept the town and while doctors were quick to find a treatment, the Apples were among the first to be hit and suffered the only deaths- Applejack's mother and father, who were burnt out long before they finally stopped fighting. This sudden and devastating loss tore Applejack's very being out of her, and at a worse time it couldn't have happened. A new foal had been added to the farm and with Granny Smith too old to care for foals, it fell to Applejack and Big Mac to be the surrogate mother and father for Apple Bloom. Her time for grieving cut perilously short, forced to grow up well before her time, and having to put her mother and father's knowledge to use on the farm before she was ready, Applejack's love for her family and desire to do good by her parents were all that kept her from breaking down. But there is only so much a filly can do, so much an Apple could do, and so much Applejack could do before it became too much for her. Many months after her parent's death, Applejack left the farm for the big city in order to find herself.

She would find herself once she returned, her cutie mark as much a commitment to her family as it was a sign of her special talent. Life didn't get any easier for her. Apple Bloom needed her just as badly as Applejack needed her mother. The farm faced all sorts of new challenges and as Granny grew older, the amount of work on Applejack's shoulders only grew. The difference now was a steely determination that overtook her heart and a desire to make up for the cowardice that sent her away. She worked long hours even if it meant she suffered in school, helped Apple Bloom grow up even when it meant crushing her own social life, and aided Granny to age with grace even as it surely took time out of her own life that she would never get back. Piece by piece, day by day, Applejack fought to become the Apple her parents would have wanted her to be and what Big Mac, Apple Bloom, and Granny Smith needed her to be.

As she started to really blossom, she became far more confident in herself and she started to join activities outside the farm. She started to gain a portion of fame and noteriety in Ponyville by entering the Rodeo and then dominating the events inside, a streak which continues ten past the first one. Her schoolwork was often shuffled aside in favor of farm work, but her social life started to repair itself near the end of her school days. She helped rebuild the business connections that had been lost when her parents passed away and slowly but surely the farm grew and grew. There were losses and mistakes long the way but between Applejack and Big Mac, Sweet Apple Acres knew work like it had never seen or felt. She learned to love the sweat of a hard day's work, and the farm learned to value her in return.

She became a mare and this continued, Applejack settling into the sweetest groove until she met Twilight Sparkle. The events that followed would become part of the fabric of Equestrian History, and Applejack as the Element of Honesty was often one of the first involved in the many retellings of those events. Not only did she help save Equestria, but her friendships with other ponies in town were either strengthened, renewed, or, in the case of Twilight, forged anew. They would each help shape the farm in both positive and negative ways, but in the end, Sweet Apple Acres endures. Applejack endures. She does so because she is an Apple of Sweet Apple Acres, and for as long as there is a breath in her body and a glint in her eye, she will remain so.

Character Summary:

Applejack is a very kind and outgoing mare, completely given over to the thought process that you help one another in any way you can when you can. This has helped her become one of Ponyville's favorite residents, the sort who is always willing to lend a helping hoof no matter how asinine the request may be. This extends down to her willingness to part with personal finances for the good of the town. She is one of Ponyville's most consistent and generous donators to charity and other good works, and that doesn't even include the time she will put in to do the hard labor to make those charities work. She loves Ponyville almost as much as the farm, seeing as it is a byproduct of the Apple family as much as the apples themselves are. In a sense, she feels a personal responsibility to make sure her town is in good order.

Ponyville, Sweet Apple Acres, and the Apples are her primary motivations in life. Rarely does she do things that would seemingly harm any of them even slightly for personal gain, as the attitude of family first, farm second, and legacy third has been ingrained in her since birth. Her entire planning process and work revolves around those motivations and it can sometimes appear to be incredibly stubborn to others. Her ways are often set in stone and hard to change and she considers the words and lessons from her parents to be as important as Celestia's own word, and somehow suggesting they are wrong or incorrect in how they viewed things. It is inconceivable! Every inch of land given to critters or ways of thought that ckash with those values started a titanic internal engagement that truthfully Applejack never really resolves, just adapts when she is faced with problems that she cannot solve. But make no doubt- these instances of retreat do not mean she has become any less 'stubborn', because nopony knew the land like her parents and nopony ever will.

Applejack loves a hard day's work and doesn't understand the disease called laziness that seemed to pervade others. She wants to get up and get going at the first hint of dawn and work until the sun has fallen behind the far hills. Nice naps during the day are always good and relaxation is no great sin when you're working hard, but thats just it- hard work earns that relaxation, it earns that heavy browed shuteye. Along with her love of physical work, Applejack is a highly competitive athlete and is always willing to play a game or compete in a test of speed, strength, endurance or wits with other ponies. She finds herself winning far more often than losing, but she is a gracious loser as long as the game is played fairly. It is the act of competition that sharpens the senses and the mind that she finds so alluring, not the winner's circle. Of course, her unbridled confidence in her own abilities has led her down a dark road once or twice, and she is often unable to come to terms to defeat when much rides on her success. It is in these cases where she tries to remind herself that competition is supposed to be fun for her, not a life or death struggle or financial windfall for others as promised by her.

Applejack is a fantastic baker, especially when she bakes in bulk. Her apple pies and other delicious pastry treats are not only high quality, but baked in a uniform manner- you know what you're getting whether it is sunday, tuesday, or friday. While this consistent quality has enabled her to win the stomachs of ponies around town, she is not a creative baker. Her recipes are family recipes refined but not evolved, and she follows them to the letter every time. She does not have the creativity or mindset of bakers like Pinkie Pie and will not win any grand prizes as a result. What she will do is provide her customers with fantastic quality at a good, honest price with grand consistency, and this business mindset carries over into other aspects of her business. Her apple sales are consistent and top shelf and her business reputation across town and the region as a whole is nearly without peer as a result.

Outside of the farm and work, Applejack maintains close ties with many good friends whom she spends a great majority of her free time with. She is very easy going when it comes to group activities, willing to participate in or be a party to just about any activity, whether that is a group excursion to a salt bar- she has no complusion to stay away from there anyway- or to an activity much less interesting to her like a fashion show to support somepony else. She is gregarious and friendly in such settings, but she never wants to be the center of attention or the 'belle of the ball', more apt to support from the sideline as she relaxes. She much prefers conversation in such settings and has an affinity for simple party games, oddly complimenting her highly competitive nature. Beyond all things though, Applejack constantly thinks of home and what she can do for it, for her family and what she can do for them, and for her parents and how she may best honor their memory. Even when she is out having a good time, and when she cuts loose she can be a party girl of some repute, she never forgets her motivations. A laser like focus on what matters to her exists at all times.

Family, Friends, Farm, Focus- Applejack.
