Flourish was having the best time at the Crystal Fair! She had been so excited to hear about the big event that she hardly remembered to look for cloud writing gigs while she was there. She had of course picked up a few. The business was doing well! She and her business partner Amethyst had all the work they could handle! They both deserved a break and the Fair seemed like just the right thing to provide it. Sure they would have to sky write a few times but most of the time they could do their own thing and just enjoy being somewhere so fun and different.

The sky blue mare cast a sideways glance at her friend. Both of them were walking down one of the main roads that the fair was occupying. Flourish was sucking on a caramel she had one at one of the carnival games. She wondered if maybe there might be a chance she could win another prize. Nothing beat the taste of sweets when you got to spend the day at the fair with your friend! It had taken a while but lately Flourish had begun to look at Ammy as more than a friend. They worked the same sort of job, lived in the same house, and they just ad the best of times together. Flourish had decided she loved Ammy as a friend long ago but now something new was blossoming in her heart. It just felt so right to be with Ammy, she liked everything about the purple pegasus. It made her heart race slightly at the thought of telling Ammy how she really felt. She was nervous to, but if she didn't she might be missing out of something wonderful.

"Today. It has to be today." She muttered to herself. She had been putting it off, but she really wanted Ammy to know.

"You having fun Ammy?" She smiled at her friend.

Amethyst was in awe at the sheer beauty of the Crystal Empire. It was like nothing she's ever seen before! She rarely ventured outside of her grape farm in Baltimare until she got the job as a Cloud Crosser. She could hardly believe her eyes. It was all so shiny and... crystaly! Even the ponies were crystal. She happily trotted alongside Flourish while gawking at the scenery and reminiscing on all the fun they've been having at the fair. Her mind soon wandered, revisiting all the times she and Flourish had shared together. Flourish was an amazing friend and nopony could ever replace her. Heck, just being with her made Ammy giddy as a filly. In fact the purple pegasus has been feeling a bit more strongly about her friend than she initially realized. But she hadn't been entertaining the idea for long. She didn't even know if Flourish felt the same way after all. And if she didn't, their relationship could be in jeopardy. Ammy just wasn't quite ready to take that risk yet.

"You having fun Ammy?"

Amethyst glanced at her friend and saw that warm smile she's grown so fond of. Her heart skipped a beat like it did every time she saw her friend smile lately. Ammy returned the gesture with a wide grin of her own. "I'm happier than a vineyard in the sunshine! This place is mighty pretty. And I can't help but wonder what it's like to be a crystal pony."

Ammy paused for a moment as her eyes returned to Flourish. She's lived with her long enough to know when something wasn't quite right. The purple pegasus trotted closer and gazed at her with a concerned smile. "You okay, Ishy?"

Oh that smile, Flourish couldn't help but smile back. Amethyst just made her feel so good inside. In fact, Flourish couldn't remember ever being truly unhappy since she had started living with the purple pegasus. She just had this way about her. Something that made Flourish not only smile but feel warm inside. She just had to tell her friend! But what if she didn't feel the same way? Would that ruin the special bond they had? Flourish wasn't sure she wanted to risk it. But then the thought of really being close to her friend came to her mind. To be able to snuggle and hold her close and maybe even kiss her. Just the thought made the sky blue pegasus' heart beat faster.

"Oh, oh yeah! I'm doing fine Ammy! It's just really cool here isn't it? I've never seen so much sparkle before. You're right, even the ponies are made of crystal around here." She spied a stall selling crystals that could be worn in the mane or tail. "Maybe we should have some crystal to wear so we fit in?"

Flourish nodded to the stall selling the crystals. It would be fun to see her friend looking pretty and sparkly.
