Firearms.

Also, I finally have a character who would work well here, I think.

Name - Rex

Reasons to fight - A mix of enjoying combat in general, and curiosity about how the arena works.  Previously, he's either felt the need to hold back when fighting, or he'd been fighting for his life.  This would be the first time he's encountered a place he can give it his all, yet both parties will walk away in the end.

Weapons/Armor/Skills - He carries a giant 'sword', and though not very sharp as swords go it's very heavy, and can inflict considerable damage used by someone with the strength to swing it.  He doesn't wear armor, but he as a tough hide and thick fur.  While naturally this won't be enough to deflect anything, in can keep him in the fight longer one might expect and the lack of armor leaves him surprisingly agile.

After watching a few arena fights, he's also picked up a satchel full of metal pellets.  While throwing them wouldn't be enough to take anyone out of the fight, it might be enough to distract, irritate or discombobulate a flying enemy, an bring them down the ground where Rex wants them.

Hmm... I think I'll try this out...

Name- Tehengu (here's the actual bio: http://www.canterlot.com/topic/19263-tehengu-final/)

Reason to fight in the Arena- He wants to test his combat skills and make sure they're still up to par, but without the life-threatening danger of a true battle. He wants to be ready for when he has to fight while pursuing WRAITH.

Weapons/Armor/Notable Skills- Carries a bow and a greatsword, as well as a hunting knife that he keeps concealed. He wears a set of light armor to get the best balance for him between mobility and protection. He has military training as well as exceptional aim and eyesight.

(If more than one) Team experience- (not sure what to put here)

Name: Daedalus of Kastroti Noble House Sardonyx
Reason to fight in the Arena: Daedalus wishes to test his spellcasting prowess under the intense pressures of personal combat as well as analyze and learn the techniques of potential future opponents he might face.
Weapons/Armor/Notable Skills: Daedalus wears no physical armor save for a mage's cowl, which serves to conceal his stance and hide the details of his face from his opponents.  To compensate for the lack of physical protection, however, he is very quick on his hooves and possesses a wide array of both conventional magic and dark/void magic spells.  While most of his abilities focus on deception, misdirection, and inflicting psychological effects, he is more than capable of incapacitating a foe through either physical or mental trauma executed via spellcraft.  His recently acquired pieces of kit include a sleeve tattoo that he can enchant with self-buff spells or quickdraw rapid cast spells at will and a set of magic-resistant hardlight armor courtesy of the Sunsworn Forges of Leota.

Matches would be nonlethal with winner declared by knockout or submission.  It would probably be better to match Daedalus against other magic users or against inordinately strong opponents, as dark magic seems a little unfair against strictly martial combatants.  Who wishes to challenge a master of the void?

Secondary Concern: Would it be possible to run 2v2 team matches?

In case you needed to know, Tehengu would probably be willing to go up against pretty much anybody. Also, he would want to go until one of them either gave up or could no longer fight.

Name: Rubble Rose

Reason: To become a better combatant and be better defend her fellow EPIC team-mates.

Skills: Demolitions and destruction magic. Rose is an very powerful magic user due to having honed her particular magical skills over years of use and study in The talented school for unicorns in Canterlot. In addition to her magical prowess she is also remarkably strong for a unicorn, turning out to be a physical match for a certain stoic earth mare she knows. The magic Rose uses is capable to breaking down and destroying inorganic matter and also dispelling even the strongest of magical barriers and spells with varying degrees of Effort. Unlike most unicorn mages, Rose doesn't use a lot of ranged abilities and instead charges her hooves with magic and punches her target to direct the magical payload to it's target.

Name- Acantha

Reason to fight in the Arena- What mare could say no to an exciting date with a former lover in a 2v2 arena match? Not Acantha!

Weapons/Armor/Notable Skills- Acantha sports a hooded cloak of charcoal-grey silk woven with enchantments and decorated with pheasant feathers on the back of the hood. The enchantments in the fabric make the silk (which would normally be merely decorative) as tough as light leather armour. Essentially, it's her way of looking fabulous while still remaining relatively protected. She has throwing knives strapped to her sides under the cloak, though she refuses to use them unless she has to, preferring her opponents to think she is limited to using her magic or her hooves in battle. It's her last line of defence where magic fails, so she stays very hush-hush about them. Finally, her top skills are related to lightning-based elemental magic. She can cast bolts of lightning, chain lightning that hits a single target and zaps out lesser damage amongst her foe's allies, and she can also summon a tempest of lightning bolts over a limited area on the battlefield (6x6 square feet roughly). That last one she uses very rarely, as it's a very taxing spell to cast. Her number one spell of choice is her lightning whip, a dangerous "rope" of lightning that she summons from her horn to wrangle or whip foes with. Though casting sometimes limits her mobility, she is a very quick pony.

(If more than one) Team experience- Acantha isn't likely to join the arena on her own, but a partnership in battle with her old friend and lover Daedalus would be all the convincing she'd need. What could make a better date than working up a sweat in the arena? The two spent many years together in their youth, and she practised magic and the art of combat alongside him during those times. They work well together in battle, as has been proven in sparring rings back in Kastrot time and again. She provides elemental force while his void magic cripples their foes. They are a real force to be reckoned with!

(Joining for tagteam fun!)

I am curious, was that a challenge? :P

It was more of a suggestion, but seeing as how nobody else seems to be going for him, you can interpret it as a challenge.
