Vanillapop
My apologies if this question has been answered in some way. I spent a while surfing around the forum trying to see if I could answer my questions on my own, but I wasn't having any luck. x-x Anyway, I'm working on a foal character and struggling with picking a place of permanent residence --- namely because I'm unsure of rules regarding how Foals travel. Equestria's a big place, so I assumed they would need an adult to travel with them were they to travel to new locations to interact with other ponies throughout the RP world. Or at the very least they would need to be traveling to visit or stay with another adult pony, family or family friend? If that assumption is correct, is it alright to reference a parent, family friend, or family member of a foal, when your young character is traveling to new towns without said adult being approved for RP in WoE? If that's confusing, let me just try this as an example using the foal I'm applying for: "I'm staying with my Auntie here in Ponyville! She's lived here for generations, but ... I'm not from here." Amber Glass said with a smile. Her little wings twittered as she hovered faintly off of the ground. "My family's from Prance." Would something like that be acceptable, or would it be more preferred to also write an application for a parent or guardian alongside your younger characters? ShadowWalking18
If Applejack can travel from Ponyville to Manehatten as a filly, without an escort, then travel across Equestria must be so safe that it is perfectly reasonable for a child to travel by themselves. I mean, the CMC managed to travel to the Crystal Empire without an adult accompanying them.
Corsair
Vanillapop, you'd be right in thinking that, at least in WoE, we wouldn't want a foal wandering Equestria by themselves. However, you don't have to app the parent(s) unless you want to. I play Snips and Snails, and I use their parents as background characters like in your example. Lux
For any of my colts or fillies I reference my parents at least somewhere to justify why my character is somewhere besides their hometown. I don't often RP the parents, but when I do they are just NPCs without an actual app.
