He sent his sister a song expressing his gratitude to her for teaching him a love of music - music of all kinds - and his mark appeared on his flank.
History:

(Summary:) A runaway heir to his noble family's business, Techno was born and raised in Canterlot before he came to Manehattan. He got sick of high-society life, being unable to stand the arrogance of ponies all around him as well as fearing his predetermined future as a noble family heir. Leaving his family behind one day, he attempted to strike out on his own in the big city.

(Long version:) Techno Tunes was born with the name Classical Music into a wealthy noble family in Canterlot with a respectable background and a very traditional outlook on life. His mother was Traditional Class, his father was Business Class, his older sister was Classic Silence, and his younger ones were Classic Stories and Classic Fairytales. Together, they were the High Class family.

As the second oldest foal in a family of four foals and the only colt, Classical Music was burdened with a great deal of pressure and expectations as the next heir to the High Class family legacy in reputation, honor, and business. Nevertheless, being raised with three sisters encouraged him to develop a more feminine, sensitive nature. He loved his siblings very, very much.

At a young age, he grew interested in what his society called 'commoners', but was chastised for being too interested in their lifestyle because he was told he should have been grateful for his wealth and status. His parents didn't want him entertaining the possibility of giving up his position as the next heir because they had no one to replace him.

Their eldest foal, Classic Silence, was both female and mute, rendering her unable to carry on the family name and heritage according to tradition. Though Silence helped care for her and Music's two younger siblings, most responsibilities of the family fell on Classical Music. Because of this, outwardly he developed the coldest and most mature attitude of the four foals over the years.

His parents, delighted by his capability to take things seriously, felt they were doing the right things in raising him. However, as the colt spent much of his time playing with his sisters, he hardly had any time to be social with peers which was very important in business matters. If Classical Music was to inherit the family business, he would have to be more outgoing. It paid to have high charisma and popularity while climbing the social ladder.

The High Class colt was not skilled in making friends or good communication. In order to be successful, he had to be well-liked, and to guide him along this path, they sent him to a separate high school apart from his sisters where they were certain he would be able to get close with the right ponies and possibly learn how to be more gregarious.

Music was not pleased at all by this, but he did as he was told and eventually became the president of his high school's music club. His passion for music had been taught to him by Classic Silence, whose muteness had given her a greater appreciation for music than most and its ability to express and communicate feelings. Classical Music sought to pass down what he'd learned from his sister to others through his shared love of music and, by extension, the music club.

Even so, the young High Class heir became lonely in high school without his sisters. Rebelling somewhat against his parents, he kept himself distant from most of his other schoolmates. That was, at least, until a certain young stallion came along who turned Music's world upside down. His name was Dragon Tongue and he claimed to have been born and raised a commoner - the very sort of commoner that Classical Music had been fascinated with since he was young.

At first Music couldn't stand Dragon's casual, crass, and carefree attitude. The two often butted heads, but Music couldn't deny that he was intrigued by the other young stallion's way of thinking. The two spent almost all their free time together - both in school and outside of it. Music soon found himself thinking of Dragon as his best friend.

He was often amazed at how the 'commoner' seemed so street-smart and savvy with the ways of the world despite his parents' claim that commoners were a lesser class of people. Eventually, Music began to think of Dragon as more than just a friend. He confessed to the other young stallion, certain of rejection, but Dragon accepted him and the two started dating as a couple.

As usual, though, Classical Music's parents had other plans. Traditional and Business Class, heedless of their son's feelings for Dragon Tongue, had arranged a marriage between their son and the crippled daughter of a very aristocratic family with a trade and reputation that allowed both families to benefit from the union. The only trouble was that Music was in love with someone other than his betrothed.

From there, everything went downhill. Music did care for the young mare he was arranged to marry, Peach Blossom, but he thought of her as a sister rather than a wife. In his desperation, he even considered running away with Dragon Tongue to the other young stallion's hometown, but Dragon seemed indifferent to Music's situation. Along with the High Class heir's inauguration, the wedding proceeded as planned, though Music had to get himself drunk on the ceremonial sake to go through with it. Dragon did not attend.

Later on, Music discovered that Dragon had been having his own problems. Dragon had learned that he had sired an illegitimate foal and had been fighting a custody battle for his colt. Music found this almost too shocking to believe, but then Dragon revealed to Music that he had been having relations with mares throughout their relationship because Music had never made any moves and Dragon had been tired of waiting.

Devastated, Music cut ties with Dragon when his former best friend and boyfriend left for his hometown with his estranged colt to start a new life as sire and foal. The High Class heir went on with his own life, nursing his sickly, crippled wife in a large, lonely dwelling while studying business in preparation of inheriting and running his family's company. He kept himself immersed in his work, determined not to think of the past or what could have been.

Despite all the expensive treatments she had been given, Music's sickly wife, Peach Blossom, died at a young age. It was the last straw. At that point, the loneliness of living by himself weakened the young stallion into succumbing to the misery he had suppressed in favor of pleasing his family. He became a wreck and was unable to study. Making a final decision, Classical Music decided to follow the dream he'd had as a child, figuring he had nothing else to lose. He abandoned his wealth, status, duties, responsibility, family, society, and everything else he had ever known in order to go into hiding and live life as a commoner.

Using a great portion of his fortune up until then to buy himself a new identity from an underground information broker, Classical Music took up a new life as a commoner named Techno Tunes. Adjusting to commoner life was difficult and took a lot of getting used to. It was also a lot harder than he realized but he began to appreciate his new-found freedom, even without all his money, possessions, or family status.

He attempted to take up his old passion of music composition, but quickly found himself feeling hollow and guilty. All his life he had been bred and raised for one purpose and he had abandoned that destiny. He had shirked his responsibilities in favor of his own desires and it ate away at him day after day. Gradually, Music - Techno - found himself stuck; only able to dwell on the past and unable to move forward. He often reflects on the things he misses about his old life - not his wealth or status, but the most cherished memories of his parents, his sisters, his wife, his first love, and all the other ponies he had once known.

Character Summary: Techno Tunes is a runaway rich pony from Canterlot who left his life as his noble family's heir behind in order to seek a more ordinary and free life as a 'commoner' in Manehatten. Though naive about the real world and easily flustered, he wants to make his own way in the world with his music and hard work and without the scrutiny of disapproving or disappointed high-society ponies he grew up around.

Tech is withdrawn and keeps mostly to himself. He tries to relate to mares because of having grown up with three sisters, but he usually somehow ends up upsetting them instead. Sometimes he tries to go out as a mare himself to be more comfortable with himself and his preference of stallions, but it just made him more nervous of being found out and he doesn't do it much anymore. Though he tries to act cold, he is easily flustered and often embarrasses himself. He tries to keep away from others because he doesn't want to repeat the mistake he made with Dragon Tongue, but he can't help feeling lonely and wanting to talk to other ponies. Occasionally he will go out to night clubs and party, perhaps to find fellow music lovers like himself.

Hi there!

This is a very nice start for an app, but it is entirely too brief in some areas.

The cutie mark story is very brief, but is probably acceptable, but the History and Character Summary sections really need to be expanded.

The more you can tell us about your character, the more readers can understand how special that character is.

This app is very close to 'Ready', just needs a bit more.

Oh, okay, sorry. ^_^; Wasn't aware there was a length minimum.. How long does it need to be? He actually has way more of a backstory, but I wasn't sure how much would be WoE-appropriate since some of it is kinda drama-filled? Past relationships, arranged marriage, etc.

Oh my!

My apologies for not getting back to you sooner on this!

Basically, the 'rule of thumb' on the 'History' and the 'Character Summary' portions of an OC app is this:  More is better.

For me, I need enough description and illustration in these sections so I can understand the character.  For History, it should answer basic questions like:  How was their childhood?  What sort of family life did they have?  How were they with others of their age?  Outgoing?  Introverted?  Adventurous?  Somewhere in between?

For the Character Summary, the questions are a bit more refined:   What kind of personality does this character have?  Do they relate well with others?  How are they in relationship to the other inhabitants of their immediate area?

Feel free to be as creative as possible, within the bounds of what is acceptable in WOE.  Keep in mind, with WOE chars, they must be more in line to what we see from the TV series.  No 'astronaut-cowpony-computer geniuses' and such.

Again, more information is better!  The more you can tell us about your character, the more we can see in that character what YOU see!

Please, keep working on this character!  You have a terrific start!

Apologies; I've been told before that when it comes to writing, more is not always better, and I thought I saw somewhere in the application guide that the history shouldn't be a novel? So I thought it was better to be concise. But I added his full history, so hopefully that will work.

I'm just giving you my opinion.  As a RPH, I have no problem with long sections of an OC app.

Anyway, to me, this is very much improved!

I will recommend this app for further Senior RPH analysis!
