The air smelled of Plasma, and lead. Their were holes in the ground, and dozens of bodies, many of which were human, but quite a few were not. They were Covenant. The air was filled with exchange of fire, as a squad of ODST's were pulling back. The whole area roared as a ship came down, and squad of marines came down, escorting tons of civies and injured troops away. Two spartans led the way. It took hours, but they had managed to save the whole ODST squad, and a few dozen civillians. But before they could, they were forced to land due to extensive AA fire. Now the dropship was on the ground, with a full ODST team standing guard, and around thirty Civies their, scared for their lives.

-------------

Sky looked around, he didn't know what to do right now. His squadmate was injured, and all of these soldiers were tired, and battleworn. The civlilians barely had enough room to fit inside the pelican, especially because of him, and Crow, the other spartan here. Sky had gotten his sniper back, and had as much ammo as he could get from the others, though that was not much. He had his AI, Rose, run the numbers multiple times, their was only three clips for his two magnums, he had one spare pouch for one reload of his shotgun, the two energy swords were still fully charged, so that was a good sign. He ran the numbers for his other two guns, his assault rifle had three full clips of AP rounds, and his sniper had one spare clip of heavy rounds. He still had his knives, so if it came down to it he would have a weapon.

"What are we going to do about this..." He asked himself, looking up at three ships that were blown out of the sky by AA guns. The Covy had come at this place hard, they wanted something here. Sky sighed, looking behind him. He had dozens to save, but if he did, and these.... rebels, got what they wanted, hell would break lose.

“please don’t” grunted the pile of metal and muscles across from Sky. Old Crow the buffalo Spartan was slumped over on the floor her mighty hunger had taken a hold of her and she was trying to meditate it away for a few moments. A young child civilian had came up to her and touch her helmeted horns

the child jumped back into another civilian from the harshness and suddenness in her voice!

Crow was usually the most sensitive one. she always knew everything happened for a reason. And for her they already saved thunder and midnight; which was all she really cared about at the moment.

That and the painful emptiness of her stomach!

“rrrrrrrr” she moaned as she stood scratching her metal helmet against the overhead.

She looked to her partner Sky. despite fighting with him all day and all that she went thru with him before she still didn’t trust him. surly the battle had eroded away most of it but deep down she still didn’t know if she could trust sky.  it was hard because she wanted to! She loved him as a friend and brother!

“sky … we gotta do something about those anti air guns” she said drearily.

Sky barely noticed the frightened civilian, he was to distracted looking at his ammo counters, still trying to work out his best way to survive, and to hopefully keep everyone else alive. He checked his read out on his HUD, noticing he only had one frag left, causing Sky to swear to himself. He was not equipped for this next fight..... Though that was how he was for all his fights, under equipped, out numbered.... But one thing had kept him going. Now, that one thing was nearly dead, though he knew she would be alright...... If he could get her out of here. That thought sparked Sky again, his fighting nature coming back in a instant.

That was when he heard Crow, mentioning the AA guns. He thought for a moment, turning towards her. He knew she didn't trust him right now, hell, he had given her no reason to trust her EVER. When they met, she had helped get him and Midnight out of a sticky situation, and he had done nothing, but keep secrets since.

"Agreed...... But crow..... theirs one problem with this.... Look around. All the UNSC troops are tired and underequipped. Not to mention the fact that these Civies will make it hard to fight off Covy. If this site is attacked..... I don't know...." He said, throwing his arms up in the air. He walked over to the closest wall, and punched it, causing a small dent. A few people saw him, and instinctively moved away.

After releasing that bit of anger, he walked back over to Crow. Collapsing right next to her.

"I think, we have one of two options. Go loud, take out as many as we can, keep them occupied on us so that they are safe. Hopefully we make it to the AA guns, if not, hopefully we thin them out enough so Titan and the Marines can. Option two, we pray that these guys can survive a attack, and risk a day or two to take down the AA guns.... Both sound horrible....... Any suggestions?"

Crow shrugged her mind struggled but it did have a spark

"You and me could attack there command post get everything to focus on us then bug out as we call a Mac stile?" She said as she leaned against the wall and slid down making the sound of grinding metal.

Crow moaned "this sucks, it's nothing we can't get out of though ..." Not caring whether she trusted him or not she opened up "I miss thunder; is this how you feel for midnight?"

Sky wondered for a moment, looking up at the air and seeing the blasts of AA fire forcing birds away. He felt so bad for them... He couldn't help them from here. And that idea that Crow had given did spark a idea.

"MAC blast won't do it. Besides, im pretty sure they are to preoccupied to help two spartans take down some AA guns. We could fight out way to their command post for the AA guns, take control of them and give the Pelicans cover fire?" He suggested, not hearing what Crow said until a couple seconds after.

'Is this how you feel for Midnight?'

Those words, he sighed. He wasn't about to tell Crow just how much she meant to him, they had a job to do. And before they could settle anything. they had to do it.

"How about i answer that, if we survive the next twenty four hours?"

Within the barracks of the Station stood a lithe mare in silver Spartan armor. Her grey eyes scanned the weapons before her, she hummed a gentle tune and took her two Smg's. These were the same models she had used day in and day out. Each one well kept and oiled.

Her hands places them on her hips and locks them into place. Silver then took her side arm and checked it for a bit before placing it away.

Her helmet sat to the side. She used to be a Odst for her first years of service. Lucky for her she was upgraded to a Spartan. Now she wasn't strong like the others as she hadn't had the years and more years of countless Spartan operations. To tell the truth this was her first op as a actual Spartan!

Hyu Tachi sat on the bench in the barracks, he was sharpening his katana, his saki gourd sitting next to him. Occasionally he looked up at the mare in silver Armor to see the equipment she decided to bring. When he was content with his work he sheathed his weapon. The male Spartan stood in his purple armor and gathered his helmet and Scattershot from his locker. Picking up his saki, he walked over to the mare to pick his own sidearm. He offered her the bottle before looking through the handguns.

Crow would of been surprised if she wasn't so fatigued! Was sky really offering to open up to her! About something that she could actually use his help with also.

Crow thought about the plan. It was sound in theory. The only trouble was her and sky possibly collapsing! But that's how it was for a spartan long painful days on long deployments

"Sounds good sky. Both of what you said. Let's teach the them about sharing!" She said standing up offering him a hand "how you want to do this just do a straight drop off here or find some place to result first" she said feeling some energy flow thru her veins again

She took a deep breath and said to herself "fear not Mother Earth your adopted daughter is here for you!"

Sky gripped the iron hand that was offered, letting it pull him up. In all honesty, he was not as exhausted as Crow was. She was a UNSC spartan III, she was often deployed with enough gear, and normally enough food. He was a bit worn out, though after doing so many solo ops, and all the buck he had to put up with, he had gotten a bit used to it. Though they were both Spartans, and this was what they were always being made to do. Missions when all odds seemed against them.

"Well, first thing is you need to check your ammo. The Pelican might have some spare clips if you need them. After your sorted out with that, then we hit the target. Most of my fights im alone, and normally im not stuck in such a big firefight. This, will be the opposite. You do know that its going to be us two trying to take down a heavily guarded area...." Sky started saying, noticing he was starting to ramble a little, he shook his head, taking off his helmet, letting his mane out. His face was un-scarred, which some might consider surprising, considering all the fights he has been in. He grabbed a bottle of water that he had on him, drinking what was left of it and dropping it, putting his helmet back on after.

"Alright....... We know that they want something here, meaning that the place will be guarded. The question is how well. Were going to need some re-" Before Sky could even finish talking, he heard the quick sound of a plasma shot. His reflexes kicked in, and he saw the tracer, seeing exactly where the shot was fired from. He watched it fly through the air, and the sound of a scream echo'ed out. It hit a Civilian.

Sky quickly looked towards where the shot had been fired from, a squad of five jackels, lined up so that no bullet could pierce their shields, all equipped with Plasma pistols. Behind them, twelve elites, all in cover, and from what his intel was, all armed with Plasma rifles.

"THEY NEVER QUIT!" He yells.

Inside the cockpit of the Pelican, two ODST's sat behind a locked door. One of them was sitting in the Pilot seat, unconscious from an attack, slipping in and out for the past hour. Sergeant Midnight Blossom had been listed as 'Killed In Action' many years ago, yet the blue-haired CQB expert was very much alive. Unfortunity, her body told another tale. Under her ODST battle armour, her skin had scars and marks to show years of cruel punishment, torture and experimentation, all of which seems to refuse to properly heal. Her bones had been broken and reformed, and broken again for good measure by her captores. Leaving the ODST with physical damage, and more deadly, mental scaring.

The other ODST took up most the room, ODST Warrant Officer Thunder Lane, Titan Squad's Heavy Weapons Expert. He could stand tall and even against even the thoughtest of ODST's and perfectly understood how to fix any weapon or fire anything. He was also the only medically trained personal in the area, leaving him with the duty of caring for the damaged ODST.

Finally, lying in the Pelican drop Ships' cargo bay were the remainer of ODST team Titan, although they were barely a team anymore. Injured, most of the membered were incapable of moving anywhere, yet alone fighting in battle. And despite the shots on Civilains, none of them were capable of responding other than pulling the Civilians into cover behind them.

Silver locked in all her gear properly. Grabbing her three throwing knives she placed them in her inventory before looking to the stallion as he handed her the bottle.

She wasn't a drinker but it wouldn't hurt to have a sip of two. She grabbed it before looking him in the eyes and nodding. She took it and brought it up to her lips. Her facial expression scrunching a but at the burn before nodding and placing it back in his hands.

With the burn still in her throat, she grabbed her ODST Helmet and put it on. The suit chirped and flashed to life with readings everywhere to heartrate, armor integrity and ammo counts. She even had her knives and grenade count click on.

The shields flashed brightly as they received their first charge. She knew that the newer Spartans got so many add ons that it made her head spin.

Looking to The stallion once more she nodded as she moved across the floor and grabbed an Assult rifle for the first landing. She pocketed two extra clips as she neared the drop pod and climbed in.

Tachi chuckled at the mare's reaction before taking a drink himself. He locked in his magnum on his side and grabbed some spare clips for it he took another drink before picking up his Hyabusa helmet then tied the gourd to his belt.

He nodded back to Silver Before following her to the drop pods. He sat in a pod taking one more drink before putting on his helmet. He gave the mare a thumbs up to signal he was ready.

Silver reaches up to the handle and grabbed it. When the stallion gave a thumbs up she pulled the drop switch and the pod screamed as it was dropped.

Feeling her stomach lurch into her throat, she gave a exhale and held on. Watching the stratosphere fall past them.

Crow smiled as he accepted her help for once. She said "maybe that's why we're so difrent. ... I grew up with this stuff" she said in a rather dismal tone

She looked to sky listening to what he had to say when BLAM

A plasma bolt hit someone!

"NO!" Crow screamed as she ran forward catching the civilian. It was an older woman frail and small. Crow held her and felt like she like crush her like paper in her armored hands "no" she softly moaned as she set her down

One thing that always got crows temper raging no matter how many times she saw it happen, was seeing wounded and civilians attacked and killed. Crow growled as she laid the corpse down and stomped forward she pulled a frag off her chest and with a mighty roar hurled it right behind the jackal phalanx!

"AAAARRRRRRAAAA" she screamed as steam escape her suit!

Crow then leaped off the pelican crashing into the roof of a building. It took Her sheild down a little bit she didn't care rushing forward bare handed screaming for blood!

Sky had no time to watch out for the civies, and as the air filled with blasts, he quickly reached onto his back, pulling out the assault rifle, and letting off a three rounds. His first two shots, hit a jackels hand, causing him to stagger, then, the third went through his head, taking down one of the shield line. He was about to shoot more, about to take advantage of the broken line, but before he did, he noticed Crow rushing in. He knew she was strong, but he was NOT about to let her rush into that many Covy alone. He swore loudly, putting the rifle on his back and sprinting after her. He quickly opened a comm talk between them.

"Crow, your not going in alone. Theirs five jackels, and twelve Elites. Go six and six with the elites, but deal with the jackels first" He called out to her, hoping she would listen as they rushed in.

Crow grunted in understanding to sky. She would do as she said

Crow jumped up and lanes on a confused jackal still recovering from the grenade her weight crushing the tiny bird. Crow grabbed the sheild from underneath her and smacked the jackal right next to her in the face the we're all lined up for her slightly staggered she rushed forward using the sheild as a weapon smashing them in the face or shoulders before turning around holding it in front of her face blocking some plasma from hitting her

Her shields recharged and she stomped on the floor causing a needled to bounce up. She caught it and got ready to fight "I kill half you kill half. Sounds good! I call left!" She shouted as she waited for him to make his move

Sky had caught up with Crow quite quickly, and he watched as she basically instantly took down the group of five Jackels effectively. When he had reached her, she had just rammed them with the shield, and Sky knew she didn't need help. As he ran past, he practically vaulted her, jumping straight over as he landed, and mid roll pulled out two knives.

Sky just acknowledged her by dashing to the right side, the twelve elites all leaning out of their cover to shoot at him. Quickly, Sky evaded straight into cover, counting down seconds. Once he reached three, he leaped over his cover, and within the blink of a eye he threw two knives. The sounds of a wounded elite echoed through the area, though the sound of one choking could not be heard. One knife had slammed into a elites chest, wounding him, the other, had gone into ones throat. The one who was hit in the chest went down hard, a thud as he hit the ground, struggling to breath.

He ran straight past the two he had already wounded, reaching onto his chest to pull out a lone knife, holding it with the blade facing backwards in his hand. The four elites, stopped shooting, throwing their guns away. Sky knew why, they were overheated. They all drew out blades, prefering to have melee weapons instead of the weak Plasma pistol they gave their lowest. Sky stopped about five feet away from them, standing their, blade at the ready. He wasn't worried about the other Six, knowing Crow, she would be keeping them occupied. He only had to deal with the four in front of him.

"Il give you, the first move" He said to them, acting like a cocky punk. And his rouse worked, within seconds, they dashed in.

The silver Spartan within the pod counted in her head as she saw the outside of the pod shift colors. "Ten nine eight....." She whispered as she saw the buildings just now coming into view.

"Seven six five" she said as she braced. Out by where Sky and crow were the crackling and screaming of the air could be heard. The flaming pod coming in blindingly fast and would strike a taller nearby building.

That didn't account for the stray fuel rod cannon fire from a few covies in the city. One had gotten lucky, the slow projectile having hit the bottom of the pod and shaking it. Sending it off course.

Silver felt this and grit her teeth. They were going to hit..... HARD.

"Four three two....." The buildings suddenly screamed by and without warning the pod smashed into the concrete and steel. This however caused the pod to bust through several dozen floors and be tossed around like a tin can blowing in a hurricane.

Silver grunted as her restraints fought the impact and she was jostled around as well. Finnaly the pod broke free of the building and careened for another just before smashing into the side and sending glass and rebar flying.

The pod stopped and now it rested in the smashed gaping hole nearby. The mare within gave a groan and took her restraints off. She stumbled and leaned against the side of the pod. Dizzy from the landing.

With some effort she peered out the spidered view window to the outside. "Looks like we got some work to do right away." She said before looking back at her Pod mate.

The pod rumbled as it fell. As they neared the ground Tachi heard his teammate count down to impact. 'She's done this before.' He thought to himself. As for him, this was his fifth time and it still scared him the wrong way. But he was a Spartan, he could fall from orbit with nothing but his armor and he would still be fine, but heights never agreed with him.

As his ally hit 4 in her count down Tachi grabbed the right safety bar and his gourd to make sure it didn't break. 3 seconds later, his pod hit close to the mare's, the crash sending a jolt through his body. He quickly released his restraints and opened his pod, trying to escape the accursed thing. He fell to his knees pulling off his helmet his face was covered with sweat as he looked around his surroundings. He saw his ally look at him then heard her voice coming from the radio in his helmet. He took a drink from his gourd before putting his helmet back on. "Ok. Lead the way." He finally said with relief now that the worst was over.

Silver opened her pod and let the hatch fall off to the ground. She jumped on down and landed down below. Her shields flickered as she stood up. Securing her Assult rifle she looked to the katana wielding stallion.

"If you're shaky from the fall just breath deeply." She said softly. Her eyes moved to the entrance hole that the drop pods had made in the side of the building. Whistling a bit she smiled under her visor. The visor changing so her eyes were seen. "Some entrance." She laughed as she locked and loaded her Assult rifle.

When she moved to the hole she saw where they were supposedly supposed to land. It was off in the distance and actually supposed to be down in the street and not up here.

"Now how to get down?" She asked nopony in particular.

She turned to say something but she was cut off when a beam rifle shot struck her back and broke her shields. She gave a sharp gasp and jumped back deeper in the building. "Owwww!" She gasped.

Tachi nodded to his ally and started taking deep breaths while he watched Silver assess their entrance. "A grand entrance is usually met with a warm greeti-" he said said but was cut off by the beam that went through his ally's shield. Before the sniper could get another shot off Tachi activated his thrust pack, picking up Silver and carrying her behind some rubble from their landing.

When they were safely behind cover he drew his sword and used the blade to scan their surroundings for the jackel.

Silver groaned as the pain subsided. Good thing she had the shield or else she would have received more than a hard hit. Her armor wasn't broken and she assured herself she had only a bruise at most.

Her shield regenerated and she grunted as she held her Assult rifle. "See anything?" She asked.

In the view range of the blade he would see a glint just on the opposite building but a little ways up. What was scary though was the movement of several more foes. Elites and grunts moved into position and were deploying a machine. The machine began to create a light bridge from their building to theirs.

They were going to cross under the cover of the sniper.

meanwhile

Crow saw sky move to action. his impressive blade work making short work of the elites. she had only saw 1 other being that seemed to be a match for him.

the buffalo ran forward shielded, blasting the needler emptying it on a a single elite. this got the attention of her six and they blasted at the jackal shield. it started to change color. but she quickly got in front of one and grabbed its neck.

"AHHHHH!" she screamed swinging it back and forth dropping the shield and dragging the plasma pistol to the aliens wide mouth firing!"

it quickly died and slumped over opening crow to kick it into one of its allies "YOUR NEXT BEAST" she growled as she overhcharged the pistol blasting an elites shield firing the needler in her other hand.

her shield was at half now from all the fire that was on her. she quickly fired the rest of her needles killing the shieldless elite!

"SKY IM AT 4!" she said as she smacked the empty pistol into an elites head making him go berserk screaming shaking his head as he drew his sword the other 2 fell back blasting her but she quickly ran behind the berserk elite killing it with friendly fire! Crow snatched the sword out of the ground and ran forward her shield almost empty

the elites found cover behind a exhaust pipe which crow quickly slashed down impaling one and startling the other.

crow's sheild was empty but about to recover  it was do or die!

she dropped the sword and head butted the elite grabbing the plasma rifle with both hands. the elite put his other hand and they struggled! Crow felt her adrenaline and anger giving way to exhaustion and hunger once more and the elite began to over power her bringing it closer to her face!

Crow had 1 idea left. she raised her hand and began to fire the rifle shots whizzing by her face. closer and closer. she groaned as she put the last of her strength against the elite when

"EWWA" the elite ground and reflexively let go as the overheat burned his hand!. Crow took the chance and snapped his wrist and slammed the rifle into his skull a few times finally killing the elite.

"got em" Crow yelled as she caught her breath.

now was definitely the time. she pressed a button on her hip and out came a few emergency supplies. among them a few cigars. she took her helmet off and quickly lit it puffing the smoke and tasting the flavor.

Crow could tell from the taste of the smoke that the tobacco was grown on earth

As the elites all rushed Sky, he gripped the blade loosely, and he stood straight, evenly balanced on each side. He watched each one carefully, and with lighting fast reflexes he made a plan. It only took the elites seven seconds to reach Sky, two of them rushing from the front, and the other two, waiting back for a opening.

As the first two reached him, one went in for a Stab, and that was when Sky started to move. The moment his arm went for the stab, Sky sidestepped, and using his knife hand he plunged it straight into the elites arm, a wounded yelp going out as the sharp blade went through both the shields, and armor with no resistance. He heard the sound of clanging armor as a elite went for a slice, Sky quickly ducked, the blade missing his head by a centimetre. The elite he had stabbed had avoided it to, having noticed and gone down to the ground. Sky reached onto his chest, pulling his fourth, and last knife out, evading straight between the legs of the Elite behind him. While he was between the elites legs, he slashed the knives side wards, the blade cutting the elites legs mid roll.

He leaped up, doing a full spin, and landing, only to see another one rushing his front. Where the two used to be, so where was the other one..... Sky's question was answered in a way he did not like. He heard the sound of a energy sword sparking up directly behind him. Everything went slow for Sky as he quickly jumped up, curling his legs in and flipped backwards, and as he did, he could see the energy sword appear right where he had been. If he hadn't been fast enough, the blade would have pierced straight through his spine, and that was not something he wanted to experience.... He had done it to others, and they died almost instantly.

Once he landed, noticed the one he had gotten the knife into its wrist, trying to get up, so he quickly threw a knife, it going straight through its leg, and causing a loud yelp once again. He heard the souind of a groaning elite behind him, and as he turned around, he saw the one who had taken a knife to the chest their. He threw his last blade, it hitting his other chest, causing him to collapse again, still alive.

Sky turned around only for a energy sword to stab at him. Sky quickly sidestepped within a second, grabbing the elites wrist with his own hand and pulling the elite. The sudden pull caused him to stagger, and as he did. Sky delivered a harsh power punch straight to the elites stomach, taking it down, groaning more like a baby. One was dead, two were wounded, one was winded. That only left two to deal with, then three once the winded oen stops crying.

Sky had no weapons left, sure, he could pull out a shotgun, or his duel mangums and end this here and now, but he did not have enough ammo to spare. No, he was stuck using his hands. The last two moved so that they were beside each other, and they rushed in. Sky just watched the two, then noticed that one of them had a baaad limp. One that Sky had just given him. He grinned, he knew a easy way to do this now. As they neared him, Sky quickly started sprinting at them. It only took tree seconds for that whole part to happen, they had already been close to each other. The two elites wnet in for stabs, And Sky went right inbetween the two blades. He could hear the pulsing of the two lethal weapons. The moment he had gone past the two, he rushed in, kicking one in the back of the leg, the leg he had cut. The elite flinched, head going back.

"Wrong move pal" Sky said, grabbing the elites neck and pulling it down, snapping it in a instant. He heard the roar of anger from the last one, who went to slice Sky's head off from the side. He quickly moved the elite body inbetween them, the blade causing a massive Slash through the dead elite. Sky threw the body at the other one, the blade impalling it as it pinned him down. Sky looked at the ground, picking up the energy sword that he had just gotten. He walked over to the elite, who was pratically pinned by his friend. Sky kicked the guy off him, the blade going with the body. Sky then atctivated the last blade, and plunged it straight into his chest. The elite went down fast, the sound dying off. Sky was a little upset about that, though he knew he had to do it to survive. Just before he was about to respect the fallen elite, his motion tracker showed one more rushing him. Sky turned around, only to see a fist thrown at him.

Sky used one hand to catch the fist, the elite having been insanely weakened from the punch, which had actually, now that Sky could see it easily, put a dent in the armor, and he swore he could see some blue their to.... His mind went back onto the fight, and the elite who now was at the mercy of Sky simply tried to punch with his other hand, which Sky just caught also. Sky let go, then threw a quick, but hjard punch into the elites chest, same spot as before. He followed up with a second blow to the stomach, causing the elite to hold its gut. Sky quickly rolled over the elite, and as he did so, grabbing his head. A snap, was heard be the time he had rolled straight over him.

He looked around, dropping the last body. Twelve elites down, six jackels down., Threat might have been over. He looked at two of them, one still alive but had knife wounds. The other, dead from suffocating. He walked around the place, grabbing his knives and wiping the blood off them on elites he had taken out. Once they were clean, he reached onto their belts, grabbing a few inactive sticky grenades. He also grabbed one of energy swords. He walked over to crow, offering her the equipment.

"Thats.... my six down.... now, wha" Sky started saying, opening his map of the area, and inside it, two people.... correction, two Spartans, were here now. And they wern't them.

"Tell me you see this..."
