A new Start (Halo Roleplay)

"They're across the street. The sniper is a couple floors up and a squad of elites and grunts are moving in to flank us." Tachi reported to his ally. He examined her gear again to discover the longest ranged weapon they had was their magnums. This didn't look good for them at all.

He examined his surroundings hoping to find something of use. His eyes fell on a silver ball with faint glowing yellow markings. A flare, that might help. "I have an idea. What armor mod do you have?"

Silver gave a small sigh at his words and when he asked about her armor mod she gave a sad look to him from her see through visor. "Thruster pack just like you." She said.

Tachi smiled, 'this might work.' He did one more scan of his enemies' progress. "Ok. See that flare." He said pointing at the flare. "I'm going to count to three. And I want you to wait for me to start running then thrust to it." He found the sniper again. "The jackel is three floors up west side. Throw it on him, that should give enough time for you to get in position to hold off the rest of the covies. Got it?" He explained

She looked at him then to the flare. "Are we going to shoot him out? What if he ducks down?" She asked as she readied herself.

Crow held in the spicy smoke tasting the flavor of earth.

She had been to earth only a few times. But no matter what she would always consider it her home, her mother. Like her ancestors believed the source of all life and streangth. She felt the smoke go into her body giving her a relaxing calming sensation. Her mind began to ease up for now and she returned to normal

"Hmm?" She said when sky was concerned she exhaled the smoke and slipped her helmet on just See the visor. Sure enough 2 gold dots were in the corner of her screen.

She slipped fit off and took another puff thinking before saying "doesn't matter who they are; we should probably meet up with them, besides they might have food ... And ammo" she attached the helmet to her hip and picked up a plasma rifle and a sword. "Looks like we're stuck with what we got around us till then. Come on we don't know how much trouble those friendlyies are in" she said leaving her helmet off for now, leaving her scared, hairy and quite monster is face exposed for now

Sky had watched Crow while she had fought, and just from looking at her, he could tell she was tired. He ran a few scenario's through his head, most of which she rushed in, and in her tired state went down. He threw them aside, knowing she was better then that. He walked up  to her, placing a hand on her shoulder. 

 

"Your tired, Crow, you should go back to the camp site and keep them safe, and get some rest. You have been fighting harder then most of us, and, let me say, a lot more ruthlessly. But, if you want to come anyway, then lets move to the roof" He said, pointing to the building right next ot them, which would give them a overwatch of where the other two were. It would set them up in a position where they could, hopefully, get a visual on the two. 

 

Sky reached onto a bottle that he had on him, throwing it to Crow, then reached into one of the many pockets he had, grabbing a couple snack bars. He also threw them to her. 

 

"Sorry it isn't much, but it might help. If your coming, il meet you inside. Stay quiet" He said, smiling through his Visor as he walked into the building, pulling the assault rifle off his back, and standing at the stair way, sitting down on the steps. If she came within the next five minutes, he had a ally, if not, she had gone to rest. Either way, he had to get a sight on them.

Tachi ignored her concern and began counting down on his fingers from three. "3..2..1! Go!" He said taking off for the western staircase. As he weaved through his surroundings everything around him was being pelted by the sniper's beam rifle. He reached the stairs right as the flare found its mark. He had to get Four floors up and fast. He ran up the stairs skipping three steps at a time.

When he was finally on a high enough floor where he was certain this would work. He existed the stairwell and began run at the window facing the jackel. He shot out the glass and he could see the flare fading away. He reached the edge and drew his sword while running himself out the window while simultaneously activating his thrust pack, this gave him enough speed to carry him over the gap between the buildings and land on right on top of the jackle, knocking the rifle out of it's hands. He quickly cut off its head before picking up the beam rifle. By now the enemies were halfway across the bridge now between two Spartans with no cover.

Crow grabbed the snacks as they were tossed to her.  She put them in her pack. Saving them for after her cigar, which was mostly doing the trick.

 

On one hand he gave her food, and was partially right. on the other he just suggested she stop fighting; something you never tell any Spartan!  She followed smiled smoke escaping her mouth like the devil himself

“your not alone Sky. your never alone”

 

she crouched down and followed him whispering “going to get the drop on the covies after them; smart move. Just be carful not to spook the friendlys”

Sky watched as Crow came in, smoking like the typical Sarge would be doing. He was glad he had a filter in his helmet, he hated the smell, and taste, of cigerattes. He held the rifle in one hand, offering it to her, along with the three spare mags he had with it. He knew she was low on ammo, he was to, though he normally prefered to be more up close and personal then far back and shooting. Besides, he still had the shotgun, magnums, and Sniper. 

 

"Take it, your going to want at least something UNSC, plus, if this goes down like i think it will, your going to need a close range gun. Just one thing. Id rather get that back in good condition, so no using it as a bat please?" He joked, knowing that she was angry, and if she could, she probably would pick up Sky and use him as a weapon. He reached onto his back once more, pulling out the sniper, holding it with one hand. In his other, he held his spare clip. He started running up the stairs, and he knew that Crow, was most likely right behind him. 

 

Just as sky made roof level, he dived prone, and mid dive linked the sniper scope to his helmet feed, watching the street. He had Rose mark the two, both Spartans. And he had just made it in time to see a.... Samurai spartan? He had no idea, though he quickly had a comm channel linked to them.

 

"Got your backs, call out high priority targets, only got eight shots left. Set Rally point to my location. Get here ASAP" He said to the two over the comm channel. He turned to Crow. "Your call, up here with me, or down their with them"

Silver had thrown the flare and saw her partner boot the jackal down. She smiled a bit but that faded when she saw several elites charging forward with their blades. She aimed her Assult rifle and began firing off bouts into the first one.

The elite gave a roar as its shields were torn away and purple liquid splattered from the exit wounds. It fell and tumbled off the bridge and off to the streets below. Silver wanted to blow up the bridge and send them all falling but she greatly doubted she could jump and thruster to the other side like any normal Spartan could. Heck she was a newblood. She had only just become a Spartan and was nowhere near as strong as the ones who had been doing this from day one.

The second elite sprinted her way and that's when she knew she had to try better. She fired some more rounds into him, his shields flickering before they broke. He had closed the distance and lunged at her. She gave a Yelp as he nearly got her. Just dodging to the right before he slammed her to the side and sent her tumbling to the ground.

She didn't hear the coms fully through her fall and Only grasped something about eight rounds and targets. Did they have a sniper nearby? That would be helpful if she wasn't stuck in this building with several charging elites.

Drawing her Smg's from her sides she began unloading torrents of shells into the elite that had knocked her down. The beast gave a bellow and dodged behind cover of rubble. A second had closed in and swung down at her.

Her eyes dialated as she activated her thrusters and shot back.

She forgot about the fall..... She turned just in time to grab a piece of rubble with her handle on her right smg. her hind legs swung out and dangled over the sheer drop on the side of the building. Giving a grunt and a few afraid whimpers she saw the elites look over the edge down to her.

One gave a roar and pulled a plasma rifle out. She gave a squeak. "Little help!" She called over the com as she tried to get out of her cliffhanging predicament.

Suddenly Tachi's hub map blipped a location and voice came through his coms. He began unloading beam shots into elites on the bridge when he noticed his friend being forced to the window ledge. The purple Spartan aimed the beam rifle at the elite standing over her and let off a round straight through the back of it's skull.

"You ok?" He asked hoping his ally was ok.

She was breathing hard and grunted as she placed her feet against the wall and pulled herself upwards. Her Smg luckily didn't break. "I think so..... I think so....." She wheezed as she scrambled up the best she could.

More covenant began to run across the light bridge. Silver nearly got up when she was shot at by a grunt squad. She began taking hits and her shields flickered.

"Become a Spartan they said. It would be fun they said!" She barked as she turned and drew her magnum. She began firing back as she hung from her spot. That's when the rubble that her smg held onto broke.

She gave a gasp and began to plummet. "Nononono!!!!" She screamed as she fell several dozen stories and smashed into a car down below. The crunching of metal echoing around. "Owwwwwww!!!" She yelled as she rolled off the car. If it wasn't for the genetic enhancements and this armor she would easily be dead.

Tachi gasped as his ally fell to ground dropping the beam rifle. He rushed to the fire escape and rushed his way to the streets. As he turned the corner and saw silver on the ground. He ran up to her making sure she ok.

Sky noticed the Spartan fall, keeping the scope aimed on her. He winced as he saw her crash into a car. She was lucky, that armor probably had saved her life their. He watched her roll off the car, and then, he noticed the samurai spartan bolting out of the building right next to her, checking up on the injured one.

 

"Sky, behind them, painting targets" Sky heard in his helmet. he quickly swerved the sniper around, watching behind them, where they had crashed into the car. He zoomed up as far as he could. Looking at it, he could see what looked like six elites... two dozen grunts. Then, he heard a roar. That sound shivered his spine, he knew exactly what it was.

 

"Heads up, watch your six, grunts, elites, and hunter pair inbound" He said over the comm towards the two, keeping the sniper aimed at the group

Crow took the gun with a nod. Sky was right for the most part, plasma weapons did more damage to shields which is what they fought against the most.  However crow grew up with and trained the most with bullet and shell based firearms, she was more comfortable with them than plasma.

“got it ill secure the ground floor”

she said with a nod as she rushed down the stairs.

 

She heard sky call out some enemies and ran towards them. she came around the corner and immediately ran back around it bouncing a frag off the wall sending it towards them.

As soon as she heard the explosion she came out blasting. Spraying the jackals and grunts finishing them off.

She shucked another grenade scattering the elites killing a few. She rans over huffing smoke picking up 2 plasma rifles quickly overpowering the remaing elites.

“Sky where are the” she was caught off guard jumping up avoiding a plasma blast form the hunters arm cannon “never mind” she said as she ran fowrad vaulting over the hunter and spinning around slamming the trigger down trying to run down its weak spot.

The blasts hit it but it wasn’t nearly enough

 

“uhhh sky I can distract it if you think you can snipe it!” crow said jumping over the shielded hand the hunter tried to smack her with!

Silver coughed and nodded before stumbling to her feet. She gave a wheeze and arched her back. "I'm sore. But I think I'm good." She said as she heard the fighting. When she saw another Spartan engaging the hunters she winced and grabbed her Smg's off the ground. They wernt broke.

She sprinted forward and began firing at the second hunter. The shells hitting its back before it reeled around. She saw it firing and thruster to the right before rolling out of the way of its spray.

She slid and thrusted forward. Scooping up a plasma grenade and chucking it at it.

The hunter took the blast with its shield. When it lowered the shield it saw that she was gone. Just when it began to turn around it would feel weight hitting its back and settling on its shoulders. Giving a roar it felt two barrels jabbing into its neck space and the sound of continuous gunfire hit. The worms inside squirmed as bullets ripped through it.

Silver was standing on its shoulders. Emptying her clips till they were dry. The hunter wasn't dead yet and threw her off. She hit the ground and rolled again with a grunt. Sliding on one knee and gazing at the monstrosity as it charged her.

Tachi circled around the hunter and decided to focus his efforts on the grunts and elites while his allies dealt with the hunters. He drew his scattershot and readied his sword.

He dashed the first elite and ran his sword through it's chest then firing off his scattershot in it's mouth. He used the dead elite as a shield while he unloaded his scattershot into the grunts killing four of them with blind fire alone.

Tachi dumped the body off his sword then threw the blade at another elite, cutting it's head in half. He pulled out his magnum and finished off the grunts. He sheathed his empty scattershot then thrusted to his sword and removed it from the dead elite's neck.

Tachi turned to face the remaining elites all of which had their guns pointed at him. Tachi held out his gun and dropped it, the elites must have understood why because after a few seconds they dropped their firearms as well and drew their own swords. Tachi readied his sword with both his hands.

The first elite charged and Tachi dodged left, cutting a tendon in it's leg then cutting off it's head in fluid motion before charging the last elite.

the elite readied itself for Tachi's attack and prepared to stab him with it's sword. Before the elite could thrust it's into Tachi's abdomen the Spartan activated his thrust pack giving him enough force to cut the elite in half at the waist. He whipped his sword getting the alien blood off the blade before sheathing his katana. He turned to corpses of his foes and bowed.

When Sky heard the call for him to snipe a hunter, he grinned. This was a trick he had discovered while working tons of solo ops. They weren't invincible from the front, so a shot in the right place would take it down, but he didn't have that shot from this angle. He swore to himself, moving the scope to the side of the hunters neck. Without even taking a breath, he fired a round straight through te hunter that was annoying crow, and within three seconds, three more quick rounds were fired, all of them going through its neck. Sky watched it collapse, the four rounds dealing with it. 

 

He quickly reloaded the sniper, clicking the clip out, letting it drop and picking up the clip that he had riht next to him, slamming it into it with insane speed. He pulled the bolt back, having never actually left the scope, he already had swerved it towards the second hunter, who had its back faced towards him. He fired off two of his rounds into its back, and he could see the wounds from the countless bullets it had been hit by. He watched as the hunter slowed down, the constant injurys becoming to much. He fired his last two shots, one hitting its back, causing its head to go up, and the second pierced through its neck, and slammed into the ground on the other side. 

 

He put his sniper on his back, emptying the clip and leaving it there. 

 

"Out of ammo, hope you guys make it here soon"

The fight seemed over for now. Crow took a puff from her cigar and walked forward "huh! Surprised to see Spartans here! I'm old crow and my .... Let's go with partner; sky zipper bis on over watch. It's good to see some friendlys."

She casually picked up a grenade from the corpses and smiled at them almost forgetting her face was bare and probably scarring them

"Do you have an objective or are you just here to help evacuation?"

The hunter's blood splattered on her visor. The massive beast falling down with a hard crunch. She wipes it off and sighs as she stands fully. Waving to the sniper as he spoke.

She looked to crow and tachi. "Tachi you gotta show me how to use a sword as well as you one day." She giggled as she rolled her arm and grunted at her battle pains. Looking to crow now, her visor going seethrough so she could see Silver's face. "Nice to meet you Crow. " she said.

"My name is Silver. Tachi and I were tasked with assisting with the evacuation. Tachi is a higher ranking individual than I. I'm only a petty officer." She said gently.

As the battle seemed to settle, Tachi removed his helmet and sat down on some rubble. He sighed with relief thankful for pause in the action. He untied his gourd and took a long swig of the saki.

Tachi chuckled as Silver asked him to teach her how to use a sword. "A painting takes years to be considered art." He said in reply taking another long drink. It had taken him years to have the skills he had.

He nodded as Silver introduced them to Crow. "Some call me the Aiandoragon." He took one more swig before offering her the gourd. "Here, It's bad to be dehydrated." He said jokingly

Sky decided to change the rally point, basically having it removed from peoples Huds. He was going to go meet them. He sighed, looking at the stair way. He knew that the street wasn't fully safe, and he didn't exactly feel like spend a long time running down. He cracked his neck, sprinting, and leaping off the building. He knew that falls, still hurt even with this armor, so he launched himself into the building on the other side of the street, and just as he reached it, he punched into the wall, getting a grip. After that, he looked down. The fall was far enough that it wouldn't be that bad. He shrugged letting go, evading when he got near the ground to roll, and it ended with no injury done. 

 

 

He ran over to the group, looking at them closer now, and in person.He couldn't tell if he should be happy, or not for these two new arrivals. Though he knew it would make stuff easier. He decided that it was a good sign, and hopefully, this meant that Midnight would be better soon,

 

"You guys alright? Especially you, that was a harsh fall" He said, looking at the two. He knew Crow was fine. He just had to hope she wasn't to talkative. He was still unofficially there, so if she told to much..... He might be in trouble.

Crow shook her head at the saki kindly declining "ehh no ill drink it all. thanks though" then sky came down and she almost had her cigar fall out of her mouth as her jaw dropped she pointed at sky with the back of her thumb "you all are lucky he's usually not that friendly or "here" she said making quotes with her fingers.

 

Crow shook her head and looked to the 2 newcomers. "well dragon" she said mispronouncing his name "we are trying to get rid of some a-aguns that will help with evacuations if i say so myself. your free to come with us." she said holding the cigar in her fingers looking to sky seeing if he aproved. 

"4 spartans should get he job done faster and safer"

Silver nodded to Sky but kept quiet. It wasn't her place to speak too freely to these Spartans. They were more battle efficient, more deadly, and deserved more respect than her. She simply decided to keep quiet now till the job was done.

Tachi shrugged as Crow politely declined then started reloading his scattershot and magnum. "It's Aiandoragon, but it means iron Dragon, so your not far off." He said when she mispronounced his name.

He was in the middle of a long swig when the topic of the aa guns came up. Silver and him were sent to aid in civilian evacuation, but removing the enemy AA's would allow for the evac vehicles to leave with out resistance.

He pondered his options for few second before voicing his decision. "We should knock out those AA guns. Allow for the civilians to flee without any fear of being blasted by hot plasma." He finally said taking one last swig before pushing the cork into the top of the gourd.
