Of course. It seemed only natural that as soon as she arrived in Ponyville her sister was already bossing her around, go do this, go do that. The little filly could hardly stand it. As far as she was concerned she had just suffered an extremely exhausting journey and wanted nothing more than to curl up and take a nice nap. Her parents had come across the wonderful idea of sending LemonSoda to live with her sister so she could go to school in Ponyville. LemonSoda used to live in Canterlot and the sudden change, she had to admit, was a bit much. She figured she would get used to it.
With a huff and a kick LemonSoda left out the door toward the market place. List folded up in her bag. It seemed her sister was craving apple pie and that her sister thought baking would be good for bonding, after all, she hadn't seen LemonSoda in nearly 3 years.
LemonSoda wasn't exactly aware at how her sister expected to find her way around Ponyville since it was her first time here. LemonSoda just shrugged and figured she would do her best.
It wasn't too hard findng everything and surprisingly enough, LemonSoda was already nearly finished by the time the sun reached its highest point. She was extremely pleases with herself. She would most definitely have enough time to get back and relax before her sister made her bake a pie.
As she walked through the streets it seemed LemonSoda wasn't really paying attention, she kept looking around her, trying to see the surroundings of her new home for the time being. LemonSoda suddenly fell forward, her grocies spilling from her bag and rolling onto the ground. She tripped on a rock. LemonSoda let out a yelp as her face hit the floor. She groaned and sat up rubbing her head with her hoof staring at everything she dropped. Great...this would be fun to clean up.

(( Not sure if this is open, but because you're new, I'm assuming it is. ))

A year to do practically nothing.

That's how long she had before she would definitely join the military. She could join earlier, but she thought it would be better for her health if she didn't. What does one do when you have time to kill? Punch some trees. Run around Ponyville a couple of times. Get deprived. Nap. Get Drunk (not that drunk), hang around the Night-club, even if it was day. The Bartender was pretty nice. The DJ seemed pretty cool, though she never said a word, maybe she was mute. Well, that would make communication hard. Yeah, this is kind of what she did every day. Except for the getting drunk part. She's not doing that today.

Loose had no desire to stick around any longer and decided to swing by the library for some braille books. Took them a while she thought when she exited the library. Despite living here for a while, the library still didn't have many braille books. Although it was kind of understandable considering she didn't know any other impaired ponies, and some ponies don't know she's impaired since her precise echolocation is pretty good. One might hear the noises she makes to aid this echolocation. She was trotting down the path when she noticed a foal that was quite small, smaller than average. She didn't know many foals, normally keeping to herself or socialising with other ponies around her age. The Foal was carrying a bag, presumably full of groceries.

There was a pretty large rock there. If she wasn't paying attention at all she wouldn't have noticed it. Big enough to trip a small foal.  Better move it,  she thought to herself, before realising that the foal was quickly approaching it and showed no signs of noticing it.

"Hey! Watch o-" She shouted a bit too late. She winced. She heard the contents of the bag spill onto the floor. She walked over to the Foal. "You okay? How did you not notice that? Even I would've noticed it."

Yes! It is open, sorry about that xD

Of course, LemonSoda hadn't heard the stranger call out her warning until well after her face was introduced to the cold unforgiving ground. Of course...LemonSoda didn't know exactly what she expected. With a huff she pushed herself up and was greeted with a dull throbbing pain in her nose, and a stinging scrape on her leg. "I guess I should've been paying attention. This is my first time in Ponyville so I'm trying to learn everything about it." She said. Looking around the ground her ears drooped at the realization that she was going to have to pick up everything, hopefully none of the fruits were too horribly bruised. She had no desire to go back to that marketplace. She looked up at the pony that approached. She was carrying a book it seemed and almost immediately LemonSoda found herself more comfortable around this stranger, so Ponyville had a library? Well...it was kind of expected. Everywhere had a library, but LemonSoda was curious as to how good this one was. "Hey...I-If you dont mind me asking...um...what book are you reading?" She asked curiously as she began picking up the contents of her bag and putting them back. Maybe Ponyville wouldn't be so bad?

(Mobile! Sorry for any mistakes!)

She sighed when It seemed that the foal was okay. It was just a small fall. Not like the rock was a part of a trap. Or was it placed there on purpose? She was kind of surprised when the Filly had straight up asked her a question about the books she had. A bookworm I guess, she thought. The books were all apart of a series and the series demanded long repetitive titles so she had to read over them with her hoof to remember. "I actually have three books here: Daring Do and the Marked Thief of Marapore, Daring Do and the Eternal Flower and Daring Do and the Forbidden City of Clouds," She answered. "They took a while to come in but since I'm the only one that I know of that needs braille I get an extended loan."

She went to ask if the filly needed help but it seemed that she didn't so she continued on her half rant. "You know how hard it is to finish Daring Do and the Quest for the Sapphire Stone and find out you can't read the rest straight away?" Well, she didn't know if the filly had actually read any of the books in the series, but one would at least give at least one book in the series a chance? She was actually surprised when she found out the series was really popular and wondered why she hadn't read it when she was younger. "I'm sorry for rambling, it's been a while. The name's Loose Cannon"

(( You can actually get those books IRL))

  • 2 weeks later...

The young foal actually had not heard of any of the books that her new acquaintance had. "Well, no I don't know specifically what that is like, but I know exactly what you're talking about." LemonSoda nodded. The young foal had done her fair share of waiting for books after completing the first ones so fast. It was always such a pain, but now that she didn't have her parents breathing down her neck maybe she could actually be able to stay caught up on her reading.

"My name is LemonSoda, I'm new in town. I just moved here from Canterlot. I suppose my parents thought I would do better in school if I wasn't surrounded by a lot of distractions, and Ponyville seemed quiet enough so they sent me to live here with my sister, CherrySoda. I don't know if you know her." LemonSoda shrugged. Ponyville was a small town, and there was a chance and Loose Cannon might actually know of her sister.

She then noticed that Loose Cannon had said something that she didn't understand. "Uhm, whats braille?" She asked with curious eyes.

She thought for a moment. CherrySoda. She might've heard that name before, but she couldn't quite put her mind around it. "I might have heard of her, but probably not. Some ponies under estimate the size of Ponyville not realising that being close to Canterlot helps a lot. There are new ponies as much as the old ponies leave."

"Ponyville is a much quieter town... most of the time. I've never been in Canterlot, but it seems like an entirely new culture there," She remarked.

The Filly didn't know Braille. She shrugged and guessed that was fine, she was just a young filly. She pulled out her book; which other than the cover for librarian aid, had no printed Ink inside of it. It was thicker than one would expect and the pages were also stiffer. But if one would look more carefully there were imprints on the page. "This is Braille. The Imprints represent the letters of the alphabet in a different way. I can't see with my eyes, and echolocation can't detect light so regular books don't work," She paused for a moment before turning to LemonSoda. "You didn't realise I was blind did you?"
