~~~Wind Dancer~~~
Wind Dancer listened to the couple of the ideas that he said with colored lights and reflections. Both of those would work, but would be hard to fill the lake with the light. But a light burst... that could work and that would trigger the reflection on the lake. Although when he asked about whether they were focusing a bit too much on the spectical, Wind Dancer looked to her scripts and then back up. "Well, I mean, a lot of dancing is visual appeal. Especially with the kind of dancing that I do, shaping winds and directing gusts and the like. Although I suppose we should worry about those once we have the rest of the routine planned, though I usually like knowing what the effects are going to be so that I can plan my routine around them," she spoke. "Of course, now that I think about it. Most of my shows are in connection with one of the other events of the casino... This is the first time in a long while that I was building a routine that I didn't have to take in an erupting volcano or a laser light show while I was writing the routine..." she finished.
Sky Sailing nodded, putting a hoof around Windy's shoulders as he reassured her.  "My mom always said that a sparkling jewel looked best in a plain setting.  That was back when I was still trying to figure out how to present myself, and how to best highlight my music.  Now, I've gotten a taste for showponyship since, but a good performance shouldn't need it.  Think of this like an 'unplugged' show.  I've done acoustics before, I often write simple guitar chords in parallel to the fancier production.  Comes in handy when I want to do smaller, more intimate shows.  Now, this one's gonna be pretty big, but it's OK if we start simple.  Gives us room to top ourselves next year, right?"  He grinned.  "This sounds like too much fun to do only once, after all."
Wind Dancer couldn't help but smile and blush a bit when she heard Sky say that a sparkling jewel looked best in a plain setting. The compliment didn't go unnoticed and was rewarded with a kiss on his cheek. As he continued, she nodded. It was true that a good show didn't need all the special effects, but for something as big and extravagant as they were planning, they would need some. He had a pony though, they needed to save some tricks for next year. Wait... Did he say next year? When he said again that something like this would be to much fun to do only once, the smile that she was wearing brightened and was even more gleeful.
"Yes!!! We should make this an annual thing! Oh gosh that would be so much fun! But every year should be a new routine with the new stuff that we've come up with," she said with enough excitement that she was talking just a bit faster than she could breath. Then she let out a gasp as another thought hit her. "Glowing flower petals!!! That would be so much better than the lake effect itself. Because then the flooring light off of the petals would not only dance on the wind with a downburst, but they works reflect off of the surface of the lake. I know we were just talking about keeping the effects to a minimum, but that will help with just that! They are be a reusable prop because as long as I kept the wind going, I can use them with the water to help ponies visualize the movements of the winds!
Of course... The glowing part really depends on one thing we hadn't really decided yet. Do we want our performance to be early in the day or at the end? Usually the headliner of the event is the last even so that they don't unintentionally show up everyone else at the concert or festival by providing an act that's too hard to follow. If we go last, it will be twilight or dusk before we perform. Kinda why I was already thinking of lighting, but if you think we should go earlier in the festival... Also should we make it a whole weekend or just a single day? We can get more artists involved in more days, but that's going to take a lot more finagling to pull off..." Wind finished running the back of her head with a wing.
Kisses were a powerful positive reinforcement tool.  If more poetical compliments would bring forth such results, well!  Sky Sailing was the stallion for the job.  Plus, seeing Wind Dancer so excited over this project was just the icing on the cake.  "Petals?  Ah, yes!  I know what you're talking about; I think I might know a propmaker who could get a batch of them ready for the show."  Making a quick note to follow up on that, he added.  "The Cloudsdale factories don't only make weather; there's some glowpaint that comes out of the Rainbow Factory that dissolves into water.  Remember, ponies eventually have to drink this water; we need to make sure that the props we use will keep it clean."
"As for when we perform and for how long..."  He tapped his chin, "I think you're right about having an evening show.  Honestly, I'm wondering if we might get shown up ourselves, depending on if we get some genius of the stage earlier in the day, but hey!  That's new talent getting their big break, and you can't complain about that, right?"  He laughed.  "Still, I think one day might be enough for the first show.  It's an all-new event, most won't be sure if it will be worth their time or not.  Once we get one good performance in, the city will probably give us more time next year, you know?  Start small, then grow."
Wind Dancer nodded when Sky said to start small and then grow. Like she was thinking, it was going to be much easier to convince the board of Las Pegasus to let them have a one day festival for something that's been untried, than it was to give them an entire weekend in a popular camping destination. If they played their cards right though, they could use the camping to their advantage and offer extended stay packages if they do green light this as a major festival. Still, they would need to start small as like Sky also said, there was no guarantee that they would be able to get ponies here. That there would be some that wouldn't see this as beneficial to their careers or would even see the point in it. She could think of a few ponies that she might be able to get on board though. She'd never personally dealt with them, but they were always rumored to be some of the most down-to-equis warmhearted performers around. She wondered if they could actually get Octavia and Countess Coloratura here. She also couldn't help but think of what they would charge for the show. OF course, it wasn't that Wind herself couldn't personally pay their bills to get them here, but she wasn't sure if that would make her look desperate or not.
She was further ecstatic that Sky liked the ideas of the petals. The fact that Cloudsdale made them was actually great news. "That sounds amazing! In fact while we're up there placing the order, we should swing by and see my folks. It's been a while since I've been up that way. It would be nice to see home again and how much it's changed since I left," she said with a smile. "And I think your right. We should start with one day. The one day will be easier to pitch to the council. Then once we've got the backing we need, we can talk about making it a weekend thing, and using the camping grounds to our advantage there. And with a lot of upcoming talent, that's always possible that we could get shown up. But I'd rather it be use that get shown up verses us ruining the confidence of everypony else by thinking they have to match or be better than us. These are all mostly new performers. Confidence is everything!" she said with a smile before setting her pencil down. "I'm ready to get back to work when you are!"
"Oh, your family lives up in Cloudsdale?"  It had momentarily slipped Sky's mind, though he supposed it was getting around that time that they should be introducing each other to their parents, now that he thought about it.  "I wonder if your folks know mine; Cloudsdale's not *that* big a city.  Though, it would probably be an exaggeration to say that everypony there knew Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy as fillies, despite what they'll probably claim.  I certainly didn't!"  He laughed.  "Celebrity culture is pretty much the same everywhere, just stronger in places like this."
With a stretch and flex of his wings, he placed his feathers back on the keyboard.  "All right!  Shall we take it from the first drop?"
When Sky asked about her parents living in Cloudsdale she nodded. "Yeah, and it's possible. Do the names Water Wing and Morning Dew ring a bell at all? My father was Water Wing and he worked, oh what am I saying he probably still works in the weather factory. Even when I was a filly mother was wanting him to spend more time at home. Mostly because I was always one to get in trouble. Believe it or not, as a filly I was a little... rambunctious before the accident," she giggled. "My momma Morning Dew is the best momma ever. She used to help teach at Cloudsdale's school. Nothing made her happier than seeing the smiles on all the fillies that walked through her class room," she smiled. The thoughts back to her parents did bring a smile back to her face. She really did need to visit them more often. They had always been there for her when she was growing up. They even moved closer to the ground after Windy's accident. They may not have been the richest family in the world, but they did everything that they could do to help her succeed. She just wished she would have realized that a bit sooner.
When she saw Sky place his feathers on the keyboard, she took it as her cue to move to the lake once more and then she nodded. "I'm ready when you are!!!" she said with a smile. While she might not have the props for it, it didn't mean that she couldn't still do the downburst that would set everything in motion... Wait, for the test run she could just use a cloud! "Wait!" She went up and grabbed a good amount of a nearby cloud and brought it down to the lake surface. "Okay, now I'm ready," she said with a giggle.
"Water Wing does sound familiar; my dad worked at the weather factory too, so I think they may have known each other; all depends on if they were in the same shift and section.  My dad was called Owl Sight; as you might have guessed, he worked nights."  The way special talents were distributed in Equestria, very often certain aptitudes suited a pony better for one department rather than another.  Being proficient at snowflakes didn't always translate to, say, rainbows.  "It would be nice if they did, for sure!"  He grinned when Windy told him about her rambunctious fillyhood, but he only replied, "Well, fancy that.  Honestly wouldn't have guessed.  My own mother, Feather Soft, mostly took care of the house, and did some errand runs for the neighborhood on the side; anything we needed to get from the surface when the shops weren't carrying it."
Taking a moment for Windy to get the cloud ready, he launched into the song again, though he had to start it a little way back from the drop, just to get into and keep the beat.  He was curious about what she was going to do with the bit of cloud, but had no doubt it would be something special!
~~~Wind Dancer~~~

Wind Dancer was happy when she heard Sky that the name of her father sounded at least a little bit familiar and that his father was also a worker at the weather factory. She had to admit that his father Own Sight didn't ring any bells to her, but with as many times as she was in and out of hospitals growing up it was a wonder she could remember anything about her foal and fillyhood at all. "It would be! I can't say that I remember that name myself, but I'm probably lucky to remember what I know," she said giggling a bit. "And your mother sounds like a very wonderful pony. I would very much love to meet them at some point. If nothing else to thank them for raising such a wonderful stallion for me to fall in love with," she said with a giggle. She couldn't resist the chance to be a little cheeky.

It was clear that she misheard him when he didn't start at the top of the song, and then she realized he said first drop. she had to correct herself a bit as she was posing for the opening, but she was able to make a few quick adjustments and get back to the part of the routine that she had come up with. It was a very pulse heavy section, and that would allow her to build up the air needed for was planning. She started instead of dancing on the water, dancing on the cloud, initially causing small bits of the cloud to get caught in the small bits of wind that she was generating, but with a few movements she was able to let the wind build a little bit making the very top of the cloud look like it was blossoming around her before she started lifting up into the air a bit. She was about twenty feet above the cloud. This movement pulled the top of the cloud into a small updraft.

She caught the wind with her wings twirling on their tips for a few moves, once again almost looking like there was an invisible cloud that she was pressing them on, rotating through a series of mire building moves as they approached that third drop, she wanted the cloud disbursement to match the feel of that cymboly sound that resonated until it faded out. The drop was getting closer and closer and she was spinning faster and faster as the clouds kind of formed a flower bud around her before they finally hit the drop and when they did, she plummeted just like the bass did and made it look like the cloud was imploding before it exploded across the top of the lake and left her 'skating' over the the surface of the lake riding the crests that she'd just made with her hooves, or in this particular instance a single hoof as she put her balance and dexterity on display alternating between all four of her hooves, and a move that might surprise sky a bit, her left wing, letting it glide through the lake and then going into an alternating wing axial spin on the next call of Hello Seaddle, alternating with limbs again to make the surface of the lake now look like a fountain around her before going into a calmer, more melodic and flowing routine as the tone of the song shifted.

Her style changing mid song to match a bit of what she would use for that of a Beethooven piece. Her movements flowed as she moved back up into the sky catching some of the remnants of the clouds like she was planning with the petals going into a wing rhythm where she was actually alternating her wing flaps to rapidly change the directions of the winds making almost a corkscrew effect in the clouds that she proceeded to dance in between. She moved along at this point not wanting him to stop playing but she really didn't have this part mapped yet. Still, she knew the beat by this point and decided to go with a bit of freestyle. This section of the song was very similar to the first part where the magica came into it. So she mirrored some varieties of the moves that she used before using the air as her back drop once again but now having more cloud to work with she was able to create a few different effects that felt good, but it didn't really live up to what she represented and just... felt generic. She definitely didn't want generic. She needed to stand out and make the moves and the wind pop. That would have to wait for the next run through though as when the music ended she landed next to Sky visibly panting.

"Hah.... Hah... What did you think? Don't judge the ending. Not even I liked it, but everything else in between?" she asked him. She took the moment to then sit while she worked on letting her muscles relax from everything she had just put them through. Of course, she knew that they weren't done yet so she would have to do a little bit more. She knew that they didn't have to get the entire song done today, but she really, really, really wanted to. In fact, if Sky weren't here right now, she'd probably push herself to do so and likely end up hurting herself in the process. Wouldn't be the first time she's pushed herself so hard that she was flightless the next day.

Sky Sailing was sure that his mother would appreciate being so thanked.  Heck, if the last letter from home was any indication, Feather Soft would be elated at the simple fact that Sky was bringing home a mare to visit at all!  He wondered how much his shyness had worried her hopes for grandfoals; that wasn't going to be a worry much longer, the way things were going...

But all speculations aside, it was time to return to work, and that they both did.  The stallion found himself adjusting the tempo of the music to allow Wind Dancer time to catch up, as it seemed she'd misplaced her first cue.  To the dancer's credit, she caught on fast, and was soon swirling the clouds about her in time to the music.  He knew her repertoire well enough now to appreciate the way she slipped into 'classical' mode for the melodic bridge, but the conclusion it built to... just didn't feel right.  As if the stage curtain had risen on a rehearsal before everypony memorized their lines.

He wasn't sure how to break it to Windy, but fortunately she seemed well aware of it when she came back up.  "I like the way you mixed both your modern and classical styles; I don't think you've done that for any song I've seen before."  He pulled out a bottle of what looked like a sport drink, offering it to her.  "Picked some up yesterday, figured you'd need it after putting in the work like that."  He motioned for her to take a seat again, a little concerned that she was looking tired.  "It might be a little easier to fix the ending if you knew how you wanted to begin the next song.  If we're smash cutting one to another, it will still help to make the transitions as smooth as possible.  Hm, what's the next song in the order?  I have it so that we're starting with Hello Seaddle, going into Cave In, then Saltwater Room, Honey and the Bee, Spread Your Wings, and Fireflies as the encore."

Wind Dancer was slightly disheartened a bit when she didn't hear Sky comment at all on the downburst or the imploding cloud at all, but she did like how he mentioned that it was nice to see her mixing her styles together and that it wasn't something that he hadn't seen her do before. When he motioned for her to sit next to him, she eagerly took him up on the offer, the musk of sweat present on her from how hard she'd been dancing. She also took the drink that he offered her and opened the cap with a wing and downed it... much faster than one might thing for a mare of her stature and physique would. Of course anypony that knew her she was the exact opposite, but she looked like a dainty little thing when she wasn't dancing. Her lean curved physique hid her strong and toned muscles quite well and most didn't know she was as strong as she was until they shook her wing.

Of course with that physique came an appetite to match. An appetite that Sky found out about first hoof on their date together when she packed away two full plates of noodles and a desert afterwards at the ice cream stall. She let out a sigh and a soft burp before covering her mouth with a wing and blushing brightly. "Scuse me..." she said giggling lightly.

"Thanks, I needed that. I know I said that Smash ends work as good transitions, but I think that if we're going to open with the remix, and then go into Cave In then there isn't a whole lot of editing that we need to do. The last Hello Seaddle that the remix ends on basically is a smash end with a long fade out. I think that works perfectly to go into Cave In. And since I'm planning on starting Cave In a bit more melodic as well with the rotating fountain effect that that I was using. Although that is important to note because in order for that to work that means I must end the remix on the lake, almost laying on it. That's going to be tricky without actually falling in the lake. Especially since the downburst from remix in both spots would have pushed all of the vapor off of the surface of the lake so I wouldn't be able to condense it quick enough to make another transparent cloud on the lake surface. That's how I maintain that illusion, but the way, unless I'm actually skating on the water. Then I'm actually using my wings to ride the winds that I'm making," she said with a smile before leaning against him. Now that she was sitting for a bit, it was clear that while she wouldn't say it, she was borderline worn out. "Shall we work on that ending again to make it transition better?" she asked with a smile?

It was always hard to predict what would strike a pony's eye in a performance; for Sky Sailing's part, he was so focused on not missing the details that the bombast was almost too arge for him to see.  Not to mention, an already divided attention meaning the most intense moments of the song had him focus as much or more on the instrument than the dancer.  However, while Wind Dancer was next to him, she had 100% of his attention.

Though he'd become well acquainted with her body's capabilities and needs, her capacity to pack things away was still an amazing thing.  "Hum, I was actually wondering about that downburst.  It's an amazing effect, but I'm not sure how big it has to be.  I mean, once a song gets a certain level of loud, adding more decibels doesn't make it easier to hear, but harder.  The vertical burst that comes after the implosion doesn't have to be so high; anypony looking that far up is looking away from you.  If you made it more horizontal, you might be able to leave a thin sheet of cloud for the next song.  Not sure how easy that would be, though; never have done much cloudshaping since flight school."

Wind Dancer was puzzled a bit when Sky depicted what the downburst looked like. The downward implosion should have sent the cloud horizontally across the lake, not vertically up into the sky. "Hmm. I wonder if that was a mistake on my part then, cause that shouldn't have been vertical at all. The effect that I was trying to go for was to get the cloud to burst across the surface of the lake. I wonder if I released the wind too close the the surface and accidentally pushed the clouds up instead of out. Although maybe the second one might be a bit too much. I can take that one out, and thatvwould help me compress the vapor a bit more to make that thin cloud that I want for the intro of Cave In. The effect is supposed to be like lifting a veil from the fast sharp rhythmic moves to the melodic more Beethooven part of the routine," she said as her panting was starting to die down.

"Hm, you might have, but then I was viewing it from above...."  Pursing his lips as he pictured the move in his memory, he found it a little difficult to picture how it would appear from ground level.  "Next day we get together, I'm gonna have to bring my equipment down to the surface.  It'd be really best for me to give choreography feedback from the same angle as the eventual audience, after all."  He gave a slightly apologetic smile with a shrug.  "Just part of the learning process; this is the first real collaboration either of us have done with anypony, after all.  Anyone you ever dreamed of working with, by the way?"

He pulled out another bottle for himself, taking more measured sips as he pondered the proposed change to the routine.  "Yeah, having them back to back kind of blunts each of their respective impacts, and it will give you time to control and correct the cloud effects.  Don't want to tire you out right at the beginning of the set, either; you looked pretty beat after that one, Windy."

Wind Dancer nodded when Sky mentioned bringing his equipment down to the surface of the lake. "Actually the next day we're together, wee should figure out where exactly you want to set up and make sure we get everything secured properly," she said draping a wing over him. One of the ultimate signs of trust and affection between Pegasi. "I don't wanna do a burst in the show and literally blow everything away," she said with a giggle. "But getting a view of the audience would be a good idea as well... We need to figure out where to set up everything else up to... We're gonna have to have refreshment stalls, outhouses, souvenir stalls for the other bands and performers to sell stuff..." she said when he asked if there was anypony that she'd dreamed of working with and she nodded.

"Three actually, Well... Four now, but we're planning ours and we're probably going to be living together soon to so don't know if that still counts or not," she giggled. "But Doing a show with Octavia Philharmonic, and her sister Vinyl Scratch... I think they are sisters anyway would be super fun! The clashing styles and the way they make them work together is amazing! And Coloratura! I've been a fan of hers for a while. I actually missed hey last performance in LP because I was doing a show myself. I'm actually planning on sending letters to them to see if they might be interested in the festival when we're done here!" she added.

Then Sky started commenting on the changes that she was thinking to the routine, they both agreed that the double downburst would be to much. And that removing the second one while help hey get the right effects got the clouds. She nodded at everything up to the point where she the says that she was winded a bit. At that point she shook her head. "Na, I was good. Just been doing a lot of moves today and had to catch my breath a bit," she smiled as she leaned a little bit more against him. Now that she was sitting for a bit, she couldn't deny that she was feeling a little tired. She also couldn't deny the fact that she might have pushed herself to where her wing was a tad bit sore, but if Sky wanted to go more she could. She'd pushed through worse pain before to get a routine done. She had a feeling though that Sky was going to make her listen to her own statement,  and remind her that this doesn't have to be done today.

Sky Sailing was not long in making the wing draping mutual; this was not only a gesture of trust, but of physical knowledge of each other.  Unless one knew and could anticipate their partner's movement, awkward entanglements would soon ensue.  But with him and Windy, they knew each other well, which boded well for their eventual choreography together.  "Might want to pick a site last thing today, actually, save some working time for the next day.  I think we might want to hold off on most of the site planning until we meet the city council; we can't have been the first ponies to plan anything up here, so they may already have plans available for us to use."

He couldn't say he was surprised at her collaboration dreams; the most well-known musicians in Equestria were in high demand, and for good reason.  With song and dance going so well together, and with Wind Dancer (in Sky's opinion) being the best stage dancer around, it was only natural that they would eventually meet and work together.  "Well, I'm pretty certain that you'll collaborate someday, whether or not it be at this particular festival.  As for me, I've honestly always wanted to work with the movies, out in Calnais.  They recently got some good audio tech going in the theaters that can really do sound justice, so it would be nice to work on scores and soundtracks.  Plus, some of the visual effects I've been thinking of would really work better in film than on the stage."

Being so close gave Sky a pretty good picture of Windy's physical condition, and it was more than just a little tired.  "Hm... I think we'll wrap up the choreography for the day.  That one looked intense, and we'll need to make sure we can keep working over the next several days.  It's OK to take breaks from day to day; the whole thing's a pretty big task, after all.  If you don't feel like totally clocking out, we can do the site planning for tomorrow."

Wind Dancer thought about the prospect that somepony else might have tried something like this before. She supposed that it was possible, but if there was one thing that she knew about Las Pegasus, is that the council was far more likely to grant their request if they already had some ideas to work around. "Maybe not the finer details until we get the approval, but if I know Golden Bit, we're more likely to win her approval over if we show that we ourselves are adequately prepared to undertake a task like this. This is the first time that either of us have thought of putting something together this big before, and she's want to see us taking some initiative with a basic layout. Then we at least have some ground work if by some chance we are the first to come up with this idea. If we aren't then we can go over the past notes of the ponies that have tried before and what worked and what didn't work," she said with a smile as she felt Sky's wing move around her as well. This made her lean into him a bit more before leaning up to kiss him on the cheek. Oh how much she loved him so...

When he told her that he was sure that she'd get to collaberate with those three at some point, she nodded. She was honestly a bit surprised when she heard Sky say that he wanted to work a bit with the movies in Calnais. He talked about the recent tech improvements that they had there and how that could create just a masterful effect with sounds. He also added that some of the visual effects that he was thinking of worked better on a film than a stage. "Well then, good thing you have me then. I'm sure I can bring at least most of your ideas to life," she giggled. "Unfortunately I don't think I have any sway in the movie industry though so I'm not sure if I can help you out there or not," she said with a smile before giving a small pout when he called her out without calling her out by saying that he thought they should wrap up the routine work for today but if she wasn't ready to clock out yet, they could do some of the site planning.

"I think doing the site planning for tomorrow would be a wonderful idea. It will give us an idea of where to start and what areas of the land would be good for what," she said with a smile. "Not to mention, a nice romantic walk along the beach of a lake is always a good idea in my book. As long as that walk is with you," she finished adding a small nuzzle of affection and a bit of a tighter wrap with her wing.

Sky had to admit, Windy had a point about preparedness.  And he wasn't about to complain, since it took her mind and will away from potentially exhausting work to less strenuous, but still useful tasks.  "Yeah, you're probably right about that.  It's still not an easy case to make, and the more work we've put in to it, the better the pitch will go."  Finishing his own drink, he put the bottle away to rinse and recycle later, picking up a clipboard and pencil to sketch out a crude map of the area from above.  It was much easier to do that from this angle, then go down to settle the details.

"Eh, it's a long-term plan.  And hey, given that I met you purely by serendipitous coincidence, who is to say that my luck doesn't just work like that?  You step in like something out of my greatest dream, and I can't call anything impossible anymore."  He grinned over his shoulder at the mare, a stallion resolved to hold on to his dreams, since he had received proof that they may well come true after all.  "And I think a lake walk sounds lovely, love.  Let's take one."

It was that hour of the evening where the sky is still bright, but the earth was darkening.  Sky hadn't realized so much time had passed, but when one is with the one you love, doing what you love, time has a meaning quite different from what is measured by clocks or the heavens.

~~~Wind Dancer~~~
Wind Dancer couldn't help but smile warmly when she heard Sky talk about her basically walking out of one of his greatest dreams and that he didn't think anything was impossible anymore. She kinda knew that feeling herself now. It was only a hoof full of years ago she could barely fly. Now she was a pinnacle figure of Las Pegasus. A pony whose word and name carried at least a little bit of weight. She watched as he took notes if the layout above and then smiled as the descended towards the lake. Celestia's sun was still in the sky, but it was quite a bit darker on the ground. More time had passed than they thought, but that was perfectly okay with her. As long as she was with Sky, she didn't care how much time had passed.
"And I think they are great long term plans. Ones that I would be happy to help you achieve," she says as she began walking along the short of the lake, letting the water swirl around her hooves. "And with a little bit of work, I don't think they will be that hard to accomplish at all. I mean, like your said. The impossible just doesn't seem impossible anymore. So let's make our own possible happen," she says leaning against him.
The reservoir shore was pebbly, and shifted and crunched pleasantly but treacherously under their hooves.  The artificial lake had essentially been carved out of a stone basin, with soil in the surrounding land imported to host the plants that sustained themselves on the constructed oasis.  The small stones could cause one to slip if one wasn't careful, and there was not a gradual drop off in depth once one got to the water; it went from a few inches to tens of feet suddenly.  The shore was periodically dotted with signs warning of this, and explicitly saying that swimming was forbidden.  Which made sense; no one wanted pegasi treating their drinking water as a birdbath, after all.
Besides all that, though, the view was beautiful; just beyond the mesas in the distance one could see the sky begin to fade into a darker blue.  The cloudless desert meant that the sunsets were gradient rather than highly colored, but the stars came out early... if one was far enough away from the light pollution of the city, which they were not.  But that skyline was a beautiful sight in its own right, a constellation cast down to earth.  "So many beautiful things to see, hear, create.  We are the dancers and music makers, the weavers of dreams; and we are the movers and shakers of the world, it seems."
The old couplet was perhaps the best reply to a discourse of an artist's ambition, but there still remained some work in making it a reality.  "We'll have to set the seating further back from the shore than the gravel line.  You see any open areas that would work?"
Wind Dancer smiled as after carefully walked along the shoreline. She was a little upset that there were signs that were said no swimming all the way around, but at the same point she knew that this was the drinking water for Las Pegasus, and ponies tended to do some unsavory things when swimming. As it was though she did know of another place that the could swim if they wanted to. They had a filtration system closer to the camp grounds. Likely because they knew there was no way they could keep camping ponies out of the lake. When Sky spoke about there being so many beautiful things to see, she couldn't help but look back at him with a smile. She heard him say that they were the dancers and the music makers, the shapers of dreams and the movers of the world. She didn't think that they had that much influence over ponies, but it was a nice thing to think about. "Everything that I need to see is already walking beside me," she said with a smile.
When he asked about a location away from the shoreline for the seating, she looked around. "Well, with this being a lakeside, I think the best location would be one where we have a lot of flat land around it," she said letting her wing drift out to the large open field next to them. The size of the field was quite large. About as wide as the main square on the strip, and about twice as long. "I think this will work out great. Plenty of space, and we can still get venders and food stalls in here. Can't do an all-day event and not give Ponies a way to but food, or answer nature's call," she said with a giggle.
Sky had to agree with her assessment of the field.  A quick look around revealed it as a designated campground, one little used by the tourists.  Mostly because tourists interested in camping tended to go to less desert-like environments, but that would work well for a festival that was meant to cultivate the local scene more.  "Hopefully, we can host that event without too many litterbugs spoiling the place; it's really nice."
Trotting up to a small rise, not more than a few feet, he looked over the reservoir, where his cloud house hovered over the waters.  "Hm, if I worked the exterior a bit, I could make my house a nice part of the backdrop, don't you think?"  He looked over at Windy, smiling.  "And this would be a good place to set up tomorrow; since most of the audience is likely to be looking from this angle."
Wind nodded when Sky talked about trying to keep it looking nice as well. "Indeed. Perhaps we could hire someponies to help with that. As long as we provide enough recepticles for them to dispose of those trash in, we should be okay," she said with a smile as she followed him to the crest of the hill and she looked at back at the reservoir. When he said that this would be a good spot to set up tomorrow and wondered if it did a little bit to the outside of the could use his house for the backdrop.
"I think that would be a great idea!!! Though you'll have to make sure it's tied down like normal. Especially since I'm including bursts in my show. Wouldn't wanna blow my future home away now would I? Although if we're gonna live together we might wanna expand it a bit," she said with a giggle. "But this is as good a spot as any, and if we move down the lake a bit, there's a part of the reservoir by the camp ground that had a filtration system and it so that the campers can swim without contaminating the water. Cause telling camping ponies they can't swim never worked so they gave up," she added with a smile. She was more than a little excited for a moonlight swim with her love.
"When you say 'we' can hire ponies, you mean the city council, right?  I don't have enough bits to employ anypony."  Sky wasn't sure if Wind Dancer had that kind of money, though.  She was a star performer with a good contract, and a nice place in the city, but how well that would translate into hiring power was beyond him.  In any case, he was pretty well certain that most of the effort's funding would have to come out of the city's coffers, or else those of the casino owners.
"Yep, will definitely make sure to anchor the sky-boat.  Or sky castle, or whatever shape you think would work best for the show.  A ship would probably be the most appropriate one, as a reference to my name."  The thought of expansion had crossed his mind as well, though if they were to include room enough for a whole dance floor... that might come a cropper with some city regs.  He wasn't sure.  *Money or not, it would probably be worth it to hire a lawyer to help with this stuff.*
Meanwhile, their walk had brought them near the campground's swimming hole, currently unoccupied.  "Oh, really?  I have to admit, I haven't really come down here all that often.  It's been a while since I last went swimming."
Wind smiled with a giggle when Sky talked about hiring and how he thought she meant the council. "Oh no. I mean if the council wants to help with that in not going to say no, but the purpose of the meeting is going to be less for funding the event and not getting permission to use the land. I make almost three times what a doctor pony makes in one show, and I do usually to shows a week. My weekly show at the Mareage, and then a floating show at different locations during the week. Funding this project won't be a problem. It just means I can't give as much to the hospital and the schools for a few weeks," she said with a smile.
"Oh definitely! I think the shape of your house is perfect! I just meant expanding for when we move in together. I mean, I we woke be sharing a room so I guess we wouldn't need to do a whole lot, and I can use the lake as a training ground. So I suppose we won't really need to expand until we're expecting," she said with a hint of blush at the end.
That was the third time that she'd thought about that today, all but cementing the fact that he was the one for her. None of the other stallions she'd tried a relationship with she'd never felt like this. Shoot they never really crossed first base. Of course, that meant that she would now need to ask the more permanent question for their relationship. The thought sent both butterflies and excitement through her. Still, the moment would need to be right for that, and she didn't think this was the perfect moment for that. It was definitely an enjoyable one though.
When he said that it had been a while since he'd gone swimming, she smiled. "Well then, how about we fix that then with a nice evening swim. Just the two of us," she said looking against him on the hill. Today had been perfect and she couldn't wait to start again tomorrow.
