Hearts and Hooves Day: A Royal Wedding! (Open, Mini-Event)

Blueblood

Recommended Posts

At last, it was here.  A day long-awaited by many ponies, but especially by three.  Prince Blueblood, Star Crusader, and Dunnie Blust had all gone through so much together, adventures, danger, drama, and major life changes of many varieties.  Their lives had become so intertwined, and so suffused with affection and love that the Prince could not imagine going through his life without both of these mares by his side.  And, to his great delight, they felt the same!

Of course, for such a trio, going from proposal to marriage was no easy step.  Old Equestrian laws about herding had to be dug up from old parchment vaults, scrutinized, and carefully updated to modern standards.  Tedious work, but at least it would make things easier for anypony in the future that was in a similar situation.  And then, of course, there was all the to-do that surrounded a royal wedding.  Not quite as much as when there had been an actual alicorn at the altar, but not too much less.  Given the headaches Blueblood had already brought upon himself planning what all he had, this was the first time in his life, perhaps, that he was not envious of the elevated statuses of the other Royals!

The first big decision had been what venue to use.  Royal weddings needed a castle, and there were three to choose from.  Four, technically, if one counted the old Palace of the Two Sisters, but holding a big wedding in the middle of the Everfree came with its own set of logistical headaches, even if the Timberwolves would keep out wedding crashers for free.  No, it would have to be Canterlot, Ponyville, or the Crystal Empire.  The last one was a little too far out of the way for his taste, and as for the first… well.  Perhaps at one time in his life, Blueblood had pictured his wedding being a great big social event of the Nobility, hosting representatives from every prominent family in Canterlot.  But, his personal social circle had both widened and diverged since then, and some of the invitees were just plain allergic to the social atmosphere still redolent in the Capital.  So, Twilight’s old Castle in Ponyville it was.  It made things slightly simpler that he’d pretty much been house-sitting it since said lavender alicorn had gone up to Canterlot to take up Royal Duties.

The ceremony itself would take place inside the main hall of the Castle, while the reception would essentially be a giant garden party in the nearby park.  While planning delays had put the actual date of the wedding far into the winter months, the weather team was quite understanding, and arranged for a merely crisp, sunny day, leaving enough time for the snow to be cleared.  It wasn’t until later that Blueblood realized that it was falling pretty much on Hearts and Hooves day, but it was so appropriate that the coincidence charmed him!

While the other members of his honor guard and maids greeted the guests at the door, showing them to their seats, the brides and groom each prepared themselves in their respective changing rooms....

~Star Crusader and Dunnie~

Star Crusader was the sort of mare more often seen in armor rather than in a dress.  Even on peaceful, formal occasions, she would just exchange practical steel for decorative golden armor.  To be fair to her aesthetic sense, mares built to her figure and dimension were often not so much dressed as draped in silks, which really didn’t do much to make her feel all that more feminine.

But now, standing in front of the mirror… she saw herself, wearing one of Rarity’s finest custom creations.  A dress inspired by the ancient style of Acroneighos, where the spirit and build of a warrior was prized in mares as well as stallions.  The sweeps of silk across her barrel and haunches gleamed like fresh carved marble in the sun, and yet softened what they touched, as if the stone were turned to cloud.  Her ice-teal coat completed the aerial impression, with the vivid reds of her mane and tail complimenting them as they flowed out of the train and veil.

“It’s finally happening.”  She said, half to herself and half to her fellow Bride.  She turned her head to look at the smaller mare.  Her face, normally stoic, was twitching into the unfamiliar effort of a smile.  “Did you believe this day would come?  There were times I had despaired of it, to tell you the truth.”

Dunnie was clad in a similar dress. White in color, loose in fit and with a crown of white and maroon flowers atop her head. The silk that were draped over her shoulders and flanks showed off her new form she loved. As she stared into the mirror, she reflected on the events that led her there. Being assigned to guard an insufferable prince who, Dunnie would admit, she had considered smacking the horn off his head more than once. Over the years they had grown up and grown closer together, their professional relationship turning into a passionate love for one another.

As Dunnie stared into the mirror, she shifted some in her seat, standing up to check herself out too. She knew it fit and she trusted Rarity's dress making, but she hadn't had time to appreciate it until now. Despite her time spent in the city of Acroneighos, she never wore a dress like this. She wondered how things would have been different if she was 'Dunnie' before.

Different... While looking in the mirror she saw the armor she wore, the uniform of her auxiliary. The plates and straps felt natural on her shoulders, around her barrel. Her neck muscles couldn't feel the weight of her helmet any more as she turned her head to appreciate the dents and nicks and stains, each one a story of survival.

After being addressed by Star, Dunnie jolted back to the moment and glanced to her fellow bride, then back to the mirror. In the reflection she saw her pristine coat and mane. Her healthy body clad in the fine silks prepared just for her wedding. She looked at the reflection for a few seconds before finally tuning back to Star.

"Huh?" She asked, then quickly corrected herself. She chuckled as she saw Star's face contort into a smile "Oh, yes." She took a deep breath, closing her eyes, "Years ago, I wouldn't be caught dead in a dress like this." She looked back to the mirror, smiling, "Yet here we are~ And I have to say, I'm excited."

"Much the same."  The larger pegasus replied, reaching a wing over to corral some stray strands of Dunnie's mane.  She had a great deal of affection for the other mare, which was a good thing, considering they would be in the same herd.  She had served, not just as the captain of the Prince's honor guard, but much as an emotional anchor for both Blueblood and Dunder as they each came to their own realizations of how they would handle Bluebelle and Dunnie, respectively.  Though each of their conclusions were different, she supported them all the same, and would continue to do so for the rest of their lives.

~Prince Blueblood~

The Prince, meanwhile, was alone in his dressing room.  He wasn’t going to tread upon sartorial tradition today, as he donned his black-tie tuxedo, tailored to the nines from fabric of impeccable quality.  He took his time and care with each button of the shirt, magically ensuring the perfect symmetry of the knot in his tie, and stepped into the sleeves of his jacket with joyful solemnity.  Even as he inspected himself in the mirror, it was not upon himself that his mind was lingering.

“Soon, my loves.  Soon I shall do my utmost to make your dreams come true…”

Sitting like a large watchguard a sphinx lays on top of the Castle watching the growing numbers of visitors. Nilaavin found all of this just very amusing in truth, his kind had nothing like this. No big show of love for a sphinxess and in a way he felt this was more charming. It was a show of love and tied them together… He'd adopted some of this in to his own pride some day. But today his focuses needed to be on his job, keeping this wedding safe and free of all wedding crashers.

Tempest honestly can’t understand why she was invited for this. So she talked like… one time to Blue. He… they? They did seem nice and offered a helping hoof. Going so far as to even try and track down one of the few ponies in her life to mean much to her. Other than Glitter of course. So in a way she felt like she had to come to this to show her thankfulness even if she can’t see why it matters. For a pony like Blue having her here just seems… Well, odd. She was nothing. A low life. So she had a noble's blood in her veins but that was meaningless. Bleh.

Whatever it was she was here and did her best to keep on the farthest fringes of the gathering for the reception. When it was time for all of them to gather inside she was pleased to see her designated seat was far to the back pushed as far to the side as they can have it. For some it may feel like they were shunned but for Tempest she knew this was an act of kindness. She can’t ask for a better seat. So she sat her flank down on the pillow and passed time daydreaming… of battle! And… uh, war! Nothing about… other things.

"would you mind the company of another watcher on the walls?"

The air warped and, with a silent pop, bent back into shape as a small green mare appeared by his side, gazing down upon the new arrivals with nary an expression upon her face. "I haven't been here long enough for my presense to be appropriate, but that doesn't mean I haven't taken an interest in the proceedings." She watched a hornless mare join the procession, the mare seeming distracted. For some reason, this was enough to break a smile from Rose.

Despite her militant demeanor and those of her fellow countrisi, she wasn't one to say no to a wedding. And a royal wedding at that attracted all manner of interest far and wide. Even the halls of Acroneighos couldn't ignore it, despite their best efforts. With relations improving between the militant city-state and the nation-state of Equestria, it was decided quickly that somepony needed to be sent. Sky Crack knew that it wasn't her scene but she knew that she had some connection with one member of this 'herd', the one they now called Dunnie. She had fought Dunder in the Arena of Whitescar some time ago and proved victorious, as she did later against a brutish dragon that she left begging for mercy. Dunder had been the more difficult engagement. She respected the warrior and while puzzled at events that transpired later did not think it mattered much in the end. Skill was skill and greatness was greatness, so in honor of that engagement she volunteered to go to the wedding.

When she arrived, she did so with less pomp and circumstance than others of her rank might. Two Acroneighos guards escorted her, begrudgingly on all sides, to the Ponyville city limits at which point they left. She flew the rest of the way there herself, landing softly in a trot to her assigned position. She wore the standard formal dress uniform of the Acroneighos military, a loose silk dress filled out over light laminar, the ends of the dress to the base of her tail as she refused it to go any further. It would reduce her movement too much she believed she would need that just in case Changelings attacked. It was possible. Equestrian history was littered with attacks during major events. Nocreature could tell Sky Crack it was unwise to be so prepared. It was why she refused to part with her gladius, which was held tightly in her underside in its sheath. Just in case.

She found her seat next to the one known as Fizzlepop Berrytwist, aka Tempest Shadow, or the Shadow Lord of the Black Storm. She and her dread fleet had never touched upon Maretonia. Many, including Sky Crack, believed it was because not even the Storm King was arrogant enough to tussle with the Legion until he had that accursed staff of his. A part of Sky Crack knew it was more likely that he just didn't see the point in ruling a land with so few resources. She had always imagined what it would have been like fighting the Shadow Lord in combat. A quick glance over the mare confirmed that she seemed fit and capable which certainly meshed well with the rumors. In any case, Equesrtria's stunning leniency whenever they faced enemies marked her as friend and ally instead of enemy, so Sky Crack kept her theories to herself as she sat next to Tempest. "Hello. I am Sky Crack, Tagmatarches of the Scout Accompli, Fourth Pegtasi of the Citadel in the Sky, Acroneighos. An honor to meet, Tempest Shadow," she spoke in her thick Acroneighos accent, making herself as comfortable as she could allow herself in such seating.

Tiger was happy for those three, really, he just wasn’t sure what to think now. He had been kinda hoping to get with Bluey, but he supposed that was kinda off the table now. Oh well, seemed like a bad idea to do that with his boss anyways. At least Berry seemed like a good possibility at the moment, hopefully he didn’t screw that up somehow.

For now, the earth pony was lounging on the roof with his fellow guard Niil, watching those that entered the wedding. He wasn’t exactly expecting a mare to pop into existence up here with them, but he rolled with it.

“Fine by me, I don’t mind having a pretty face watching things with us.” He responded, giving the mare a wink. “Name’s Tiger Blood, who might you be?”

While the brides and groom ready themselves, more guests began to filter in...

~Berry Punch~

Well, this was certainly refreshing, a wedding Berry Punch didn't have to help cater this time!  Honestly, she couldn't even muster a show of offense for the Prince not buying local for drink; he had quite the stocked cellar himself, and if he wanted to supply his own shindig, who was she to deny another pony the chance to emulate the element of Generosity?  Now, she could just enjoy the ceremony, cry at the kiss, and party it up at the reception!

Her good mood was also partly attributable to the fact that she wouldn't be partying alone, either.  As she passed through the entrance, guided in by Blueblood's secretary Wordsworth Psmith, she looked up at the roof and waved to Tiger Blood.  "Yoohoo!  Come and catch me when the dancing starts, darling!"

Ah Tiger, such a new face still. And yet Nilaavin knew him well. He was like so many other guards. Felt more big than he was, thinked far too much with the spear underneath than the one slung overtop. They were a dime a dozen amongst the armies and guards of the past and present it seems. But he did his job and that is all that matters. Speaking of that job…

A mare felt like teleporting up here. She was not a watch mare or a guard for Blue. “Ma’am, you may not be here or distract us. I will remove you by force if you do not remove yourself.” The large sphinx says with a thick accent no pony can place. For how can one place an accent born from a dead language mixing with modern ponish? Yet he had no time for this mare. His orders were to be on guard duty and even without the spell bounding him, he’d follow them out of respect for Blue. And he needed this mare away so Tiger can do his job and stop drooling over every mare he sees.

~~~~~~~~~~
Tempest arched an eyebrow at an unknown mare sitting down next to her. She was not too happy to put up with some unknown pony being next to her but hoped Blue planned the seating well. But she did not ask for a name or even remark on her. The mare spoke up without being invited in to it, something Tempest hated but as the mare spoke it sparked some interest. She was an Acroneighos mare and one of some worth at that. “A Maretonia mare. Far from home and far from the legions.” She says back, looking to her side at the mare and eyed her up. Fit body, strong pose. She held herself tall and presented a pose of dominance. Tempest liked what she saw in truth. “Honored to meet a mare of your caliber Sky Crack, no wonder you know me well, given your duty you’d been foolish to not take note of what I did in my years leading the armada.” She says rolling her shoulders. “Such times are long behind me now and I made my pace.” She added looking back ahead,watching more flood in. Bleh. Was like watching hens all cram up on a coop. Far too much, her wedding… if she has one. Will be nothing like this.
Rose smirked at the Sphinx's response, opting to ignore his warning in favor of indulging the strapping young lad that opted to greet her with more politeness. "Rose Compass, local alchemist and apothecary. I'm essentially the pony that'll be fixing the poor sap this good fellow here has to remove 'by force'."
She got a good chuckle out of that, briefly readjusting her dress uniform. Why dress up for an event she didn't plan to actively participate in? Appearances. "Oh my, it appears you have a prospective paramour, mi amigo ~" she said, noting the vintner. "I hope you're good on your hooves."
Swift Squall:
At this point, Squall could consider himself weddings regular. He counted this a positive thing - after all learning from experience will be very useful when preparing his own, soon.
Of course THIS wedding wasn't just any other one - it was ROYAL WEDDING. And more importantly a wedding of his friend, Blue. He never would thought that the Prince will end up tying the knot...ehem knots before him, but that only shown how different lifestyles they led. Despite being both scions of Platinas, they had very different characters. But of course Blue wasn't his only friend in this, wasn't it? Crusader was valuable teammate from EPIC, and Dunnie...well...Squall was just immensely happy that he was able to repair that friendship, and his dear Fire Walker no doubt agreed with him on that.
That left only one problem.....
Usually Squall was able to flaunt his wealth and give his friends extravagant and useful presents. That...wouldn't work with Blueblood. While not as rich as Squall and his parents, Blue was still a Prince! And what can you buy for stallion who has everything?
No....Squall needed to get him something special....
This took him long time and much effort...but it was worth it.
Of course the downside was that he was almost late. Again. At least Fire was probably already there explaining what was taking him so long.
"Hmmm....looking good." noblepony said, admiring his white trench-coat with corporate markings, and white tuxedo underneath it. Business stallion also brought a parade sword with him. True...he promised not to touch any sword for a while...but how he was supposed to do proper Military salute without one?
Seeing that everything was in order, nobelpony put on a parachute, and walked to the airship ramp. This too, started to become a habit.
"We will be over target in thirty seconds Sir." pilot voice could be heard from speaker.
"Acknowledged." Swift murmured, gazing at the lamp. Few deep breaths, a flash of green light, and swordpony leaned over the edge of the ramp.
Of things he never though he will be doing - making a HALO jump on Castle of Friendship was high on Swift's list.
Nineteen miles....fifteen....ten....five....
With only mile and half of altitude left, noblepony opened his parachute to slow his descent. It didn't unfold completely but it was alright, just enough to slow his descent...
With half mile left Squall found his target - a sloppy spire of Castle highest tower.
In one fluid motion, unicorn stallion cut the string of the canopy, cast a feather-fall spell, slid down the tower roof, and jumped on the flat section of the castle top. While discarding chute-backpack mid-somersault. And landing next to the sphinx, earth pony and some strange mare - all of which looked to be as surprised as Squall himself. After a moment of awkward silence.....
"<.......Errr....hello! I am here for a wedding.>" unicorn said, in horribly mangled, ancient Saddle Arabian. No wonder too, it was a dead language, and so far Swift only read in it! "<Here's my invitation!>" he quickly added, while flashing said piece of paper. Unicorn was clearly more worried about making another social blunder, then being face to face with half-mythical creature....
'Jade Beaker':
"What if I I catch you first?" said the unicorn mare, seemingly appearing out of nowhere. "I very grateful by your invitation Berry, Dear." 'Jade' added with a wink. True enough, she planned to slip into the wedding one way or another - for recon purposes - but being formally invited as one of Punch extras made things so much more simple! The only thing sorceress had to worry was to make detection proof disguise of her 'Jade' form, and tie it to the bangles she wore.
'Beaker' followed Punches gaze upward, and only her masterful acting skills hid her surprise. Four souls up there - two belonging to mundane ponies. But the other two....
First was a sphinx. A sphinx! She didn't encounter one in centuries! Not even during her recent trip there Saddle Arabia! What one of those creatures were doing so far from that arid land? This was something she HAD to investigate. And the other one....
'Chrysalis?!' was first thing that popped in sorceress mind, but a quick check rebuked the idea. Her soul - along with her body - was still in a stony prison where Discord and Alicorn Sister's have left her. So...Changeling Queen....and what's more surprising, without a hive. What could she be doing here? For a second 'Jade' pondered if she should expose this roach before dismissing the idea. She would have to explain how she recognized her under disguise...and more importantly something seemed off about her. Very little malice in that soul. Hmmm , that meant that revealing herself to this Queen after ceremony was poor idea as well. Perhaps Dox will more hindsight about this?
"Hello Tiger!" she waved at the earth pony upwards. He was an acquaintance, and it 'excused' her gawking.
"Sphinx! First time I seen one!" 'Jade' expressed her 'excitement' to Berry. It made sense too. As a doctor who seemingly studied behavior of big cats, it made sense 'Beaker' would obviously be interested in feline hybrid.
Tiger rolled his eyes a bit at Niil’s response to the mare, though he was sorta distracted from answering by Berry addressing him. He looked down at her, returning the wave gladly.
“You know it, Berry! I’d join you now, but I’ve got work to do.” He responded, glad that she wanted him to join her later. He also returned Jade’s greeting, though he was still iffy on her. He was warming up to her, but there was still that nagging feeling that something was wrong with her.
“Yeah, she’s pretty great. And of course, you have to have good hoofwork to be an arena champ.” He responded to Rose, looking back over to her. It was also then that another unicorn dropped out of the sky. Tiger blinked, glancing towards where the stallion came from while they seemed to try communicating with Nil.
Sky Crack bristled unintentionally. Being called a Maretonian mare was something of an insult to any proper Acroneighos mare. The Tall Mares- that was the translation of Maretonia. It was a term coined by either an Earth pony crime lord or those heartless unicorns in Kastrot. Acroneighos was a proud city-state of pegasi who, naturally, were shorter than the other species by some amount that was imperceptible to all but those that sought reasons to argue and fight one another. "Acroneighos, yes," she responded quickly but still cheerily. She may not be a diplomat but her parents had lavishly spent on her education and she knew better than to make a flank of herself here. "I am glad to see that you have made your peace, Commander. When we heard that the Shadow Lord of the Black Storm had been pardoned by the Sovereign-in-Waiting Twilight Sparkle, we had our reservations. After all, it is not often you see a combatant with such skill in the art of combat and strategic violence return to a more pastoral life," she added a pregnant pause, "with no regrets, at least. What is your relation to this Herd?"
It wasn't that Gallus had gotten drunk.
It was that he had gotten completely and totally destroyed.
He didn't know what it had been in the first place! He had just been enjoying a party that he had maybe perhaps snuck into, perhaps without asking anycreature, and certainly maybe perhaps kind of illegally. It was one of many parties rocking the small town the night before due to the royal wedding and he just wanted in on the action. How was he supposed to know what that drink was? Griffons had very clearly marked bottles of *alcohol* and he had cider before and it hadn't been alcoholic. He thought Sweet Apple Cider was all the same anyway. he had trusted a brand. This is why you can't trust brands, even the brands of a creature you thought you knew because your knowledge would absolutely betray you. Like this one did. Well, not entirely just the alcohol's fault.
In any case, he needed to see Prince Blueblood, Princess Bluebelle, Twilight, or even that snooty looking Mayor. Just somecreature he could get to sign some documents and end the encroaching nightmare. He arrived where the wedding was, his well-crafted fake invitation under his wing as he smoothed his messy feathers back and wiped the sweat from his brow. A sphinx, a changeling, a showoff, a guard, and a mess of confusion would be his ally as he flew on by the collective, trying to avoid the front door. His only ally, since he could never trust cider again. "Good day here, I take it?" he said breezily, or an attempt at such, as he tried to glide past them.
Oh my Twilight, two weddings so close together. Moonlight could taste the excitement in the air and who could blame them? It wasn't every day you had a royal wedding! Almost, anyway. It had become rather common or seemed as such the past few years, at least in comparison to the previous centuries. Part of it was simply that Equestria was so much more involved globally that every minor royal wedding counted. But this one was Equestrian, in Equestria, in Ponyville to boot. It couldn't get more pony than this if it tried. And a herd? How outrageously scandalous. She had made sure to tell the Chancellor how exciting and taboo everything was. What cache would the Chancellor have in history now? A piece of trivia before. Maybe now the Chancellor would have a whole section in the book! Talk about an upgrade, right?
She trotted into the wedding wearing a full length version of what would have been worn by Bluebelle if she had been the one up there instead of Blueblood. It moved with her like air, its green shine attractive and eye catching without being acutely vexing. She felt like seven thousand, six hundred, and five bits. Specific? yes. That was the cost Rarity attached to it! Luckily, Bluebelle was not up there today so the dress had to go somewhere...and Rarity already her dress picked out. As a member of the Fashion Club she had worked tirelessly with Rarity to help perfect the dress. She had modeled it, stitched it, worked the fabrics and dyes and gems alongside the older mare. It had earned her an invitation. And, for tonight only, it had earned her this stunner of a dress.
She didn't mind showing it (and herself) off as she sauntered up to the castle and hooved it over, giggling like a schoolfilly (which she was after all) as she was allowed in.
Times like this Nilaavin truly hated the fact he can’t ever hurt some pony… Without Blues blessing. Oh how he wanted to smite them for acting like such foolish foals in front of him! He was a Sphinx! Not some petty house cat! But this was his life for now, his judgement will come in time. But he can keep some order at least in his follow ‘guards’. “Tiger, your task is to keep order and safety for Blue and their wedding not flirt with every female you see.” He says, looking down at the pony, glaring with his cat-like eyes. “Focus with the spear at your side, not the one underrneth or you will end this shift a gelding.” With his warning done he shifted his focus on the bothersome mare and was about to warn her again but was stopped do to well…
Looking up as his ears flicked about he blinked, looked again and squinted as some pony skydives down on to the kep, sliding to a stop next to him. He was so taken back and dumbfounded it left him speechless. What was up with this town? Why was it like this? Was all of this kingdom this… disorderly? It made him want to cry honestly. And then the pony talked. Never in his life has he heard his native language so thoroughly butchered, abused and mangeld. He had to hold a paw up and pushed it against the muzzle of this pony to make them stop. “Never speak are language again pony, I have seen beaten slaves speak with more clarity than the mangled mess of sounds you have just uttered forth at me.” Done with that he looked at the tiny paper floating in the air. Well looked good to him. “You need to go in from the front door. Best of luck getting down, I will not help in the matter.” Well with that done he pulled his paw away and looked back at the mare. Now where was… Then a drunk bride passed by. Hardly staying in the air on haphazard wing beats Seeing this Nilaavin just took in a deep breath. “Do one of you know where the Mayor of this town is? I wish to speak to her in detail on why she let's this town be like this. And more so, how everything that will go wrong at this event is her fault and her fault alone.”
~~~~~~~~~~

“I have my regrets.” Tempest says with a shrug, not going in to detail on what they were. “And my relation is limited in the extreme. We hardly know each other but Blue has offered to help me far more than needed given that with no wish of repayment. As such when asked to be here, I did come. I may not know them well, but they have treated me with kindness and a helping hoof. Showing up too watch this is the just thing to do.” She says looking back at the mare. “What of you? Why are you so far from home to see it?”

'Tried' gliding past them was the key word here; Without even looking, she plucked the inhebriated birdie right out of the sky, teleported him within mere inches of her face, plucked one of his feathers, and jammed a spontaneously generated bottle down his throat during the ensuing squal. "In approximately ten minutes you will experience extreme nausea and vomiting. Afterwards, you will be sober." She explained in the dull and lifeless drone of a true doctor. Afterwards, she lets him go to direct her attention where it was needed most.

"I happen to have the ear of Mayor Rich. I can fetch her right now if you require." She briefly did a sweep of the town, checking to make sure she had the proper coordinates. Of course, she may have exaggerated their relationship a bit... But she was sure she would be forgiven if the circumstances justified the means.

“I can do both, Nil, it’s called multitasking.” Tiger responded, sighing a bit. “There’s only so much one pony can do to combat Ponyville’s chaos though, especially an earth pony.” He added, leaving it at that for now. What was he supposed to do to stop teleportation or flying? Especially if it was posing no actual threat.

When Gallus came by, he opened his mouth to speak, but Rose beat him to it and seemed to take care of the situation.

“C’mon, Gallus, did you really think showing up drunk to a wedding was a good idea? Blueblood’s wedding, at that.” Tiger sighed again, trying to do as Nil said. He could probably dodge the cat, but he didn’t really want to test that theory. Especially since they worked together.

~Berry Punch~

At the appearance and touch of Jade, Berry felt shivers go up her spine.  Good shivers, though.  Handsome as Tiger Blood was, mares had their own charms to her, and 'Jade Beaker' was nothing if not an exemplar of what they had to offer.  As for wanting both at once... well!  She was just following the Prince's example now, wasn't she?  If such things were wrong, why were they now publicly celebrated?  "Can't blame a mare for wanting it all."  She winked at the unicorn by her side.  "Especially when it seems that I can actually have it!"

Calling back up to Tiger, she replied, "Aw, I'm sure Blueblood won't grudge you one dance with us, at least!"  She called out with confidence, though the sudden arrival of a unicorn and griffon onto the roof by air seemed to indicate that the guarding staff of this event would likely be more busy than usual.  *Huh.  Glad I'm not working this gig.*

In any case, she was unable to linger for long, as a dapper young unicorn stallion came forward to escort the pair of mares in.  "Comrades, Berry and... Jade, was it not?  If you will please follow me, your inestimable presence will just lend the proper touch to the solemnities."  The purple-coated secretary, Wordsworth, was quite the logomachist, which he probably wouldn't have gotten away with were his voice not so naturally smooth and pleasant.  One didn't so much mind extra words from him, flowing out in a soothing warm shower of sound.

Said secretary beckoned them in, allowing room for the splendiforously dressed Moonlight Glitter to saunter to the front and center.  She was greeted in a manner fitting her fashion, with the secretary raising a hoof, "The cry goes 'round the castle walls, 'What vision of beauty doth grace us this fine day?'  I see from your invitation, the answer to be given is Moonlight Glitter, of His Highness class?  Perhaps I should say, His Archancellorship.  In either case, Comrade Glitter, you are welcome, please do come in."  He would personally escort his fellow unicorn to a place of honor, passing near on the way to:

~Spoiled Rich~

As the Mayor of Ponyville, Spoiled Rich's presence was of course expected and required at all major events, whether she liked it or not.  And while normally the opportunity to be a guest of honor at a Royal Wedding would be an unmitigated honor, no doubt one which could be leveraged to assist in the social status of her family and progeny, the fact that it was also a Ponyville wedding somewhat cut into that.  It was inevitable that any such shindig would be plagued with the above-average level of chaos that was typical of this town, which of course she would be blamed for even if none of it was her fault.  Was she organizing the wedding?  No, the Prince did it himself.  Was the wedding on town property?  No, it was in the Castle, and therefore on Crownlands.  Would such rags as the Foal Free Press even so much as acknowledge these subtle, yet exonerating points in print?  Not a chance.

*Nothing for it but to dress to the nines, keep a stiff upper lip, and give Tartarus to whomever I can to set an example to the rest.*  She simply awaited her opportunity...

Swift Squall:

A bit of arrogant was he? Swift patently waited for the hybrid creature to vent out, before speaking. Veeeeery politely. Previous social gatherings thought him few lessons.

"Mister, excuse me for not knowing how to speak language officially considered dead. You are literally a second creature I met that could give pointers about it, right after that criosphinx I once met." Squall said while fishing out his jade colored shades out of pocket. "And yeah I guess pharaohs of old would do that. Could've asked them, but this attitude kinda left them buried under sands." it was clear noblepony wasn't afraid of feline one bit.

He would continue if mot for certain mare's behavior towards her 'patient'.

"Oy! That's not a way to treat a patient much less a kid! Did you ever took an oath Lady? Where did you got you PhD?" Swift called Ruby out. "You didn't even tried to make a diagnosis! There are aliments that can show  symptoms of inebriety while being something else entirely! What institution gave you your license?!" he asked.

Squall could only suppress a scoff when sphinx  expressed his irritation at all disorder.

"You are new here I assume? This is Ponyville Mister, they call days like this one 'Friday'. A small disaster rolls through this town at least once a quarter, the most chaotic place in the realm is next door..." Swift pointed over his shoulder at the Everfree Forest visible in the distance "...and a literal living incarnation of chaos is town regular for tea parties and Ogres & Oublittess sessions." he explained while nodding in agreement at Tiger's words. "And besides...we Equestrians had thousand years of order. Left most of ponies....inflexible, complacent. A little bit of chaos to put citizens out of their comfort zone to thoughte them up can only help." swordstallion said to Nilaavin.

"Look, I know it's your job. But try to be a little more...adaptive?" Swift said while walking to roofs edge and donning his shades. "We Equestrians have a saying 'When in Roam, do as Roamans do.' Try to think about it, you sphinxes are good with philosophy I heard." unicorn stallion said "In the meantime, I tell Blue you doing good job at being vigilant." he added before jumping down.

"Hello Miss Berry. Good to see you having a day off." nobelpony greeted his acquaintance as he touched down close to her, before flashing his invitation at the guards and slipping inside. Unlike most, he didn't needed an escort. As a Count of Fillydelphia, and distant relative of the groom he had a little more freedom then other guests. So instead of heading towards main hall, he headed towards Prince's dressing room. When he got to it, he didn't knock, instead. Leaning at the wall opposite to the door and waited patiently.

Tradition said wedding presents should be given before a ceremony, but Squall was sure that Blueblood would appreciate getting that one right away. And besides....Squall wasn't very big on the tradition....

'Jade Beaker':

Jade couldn't help but giggle at Berry words. "You speaking my language Berry, Dear!" she said. There was something in this mare and Midnight Oil that made her feel...invigorated. She hadn't felt this way since her last vacation, in that small Equestria town, a little over two decades ago. What was it's name...?...Ahhh...Sire's Hollow. But back then she only once allowed her passions to get a better of her. Perhaps now....

Sorceress train of though got derailed, as stallion fell from above, forcing 'Jade' to make a quick backdash out of the way. She didn't even had time to scold him as he exchanged a greeting with Berry, shown his invitation and walked inside before she could as much as blink!

After a pregnant pause, 'Jade' turned out to punch with a question.

"Is every noble Prince invites is like this?" she asked. From ponysonal experience Shuren knew that every social class had their odd-jobs and nut-jobs. It wouldn't hurt to ask, in case that Blueblood was...fond of such unique individuals.

They didn't had to wait for their turn for long, as one of what she assumed was Prince attendants appeared to tend to them.

"Charmed." she answered the young stallion. He had a smooth voice but was not really her type. 'Jade' also noticed the term he addressed her and Berry with. So he was a follower of this ideology, huh?

"We will make it irrefutable that out propinquity will not discombobulate you from ruminating about proletarian transfiguration, while you attend to nuptials." 'Beaker' answered, showing that two could play the game of gross verbosity.

Doing right by those that aided you was respectable enough. She was here for less noble, far more boring reasons. "Acroneighos was invited to send a representative to attend this wedding as a foreign dignitary, to convey our joy at the union and our hopes for a strong future for them," she said with a sigh. It was boring work, but important. "I did get to decide the gifts that would be given to them. I shall also read to them excerpts from the Acroneighos Poetic Traditions. That should encourage them to seek shelter with one another really quickly," she said with a smile, stretching out one of her legs. "I do hope that the reception-events are enthralling. It has been a while since I was able to participate in Acro-Roaman wrestling with excelling competitors. Do you know if the pegasi here use cumulonimbus clouds for their thunder chase?" She looked up, quizzically noting the lack of clouds in the sky. "Perhaps they bring it in later...?"'

Gallus felt as though everything was right in the world for one brief, shining moment. That he would be allowed past them and able to hunt down and speak with the Chancellor before the previous night's many transgressions could be fully vetted into his history for all the world to know and mock. But alas, it was not to be. In a moment of horror and panic he felt something being forced down his throat, his squawk of terror killed in his throat as he half-choked on the liquid. When he was let go he fell from the sky with a crash, grasping briefly at his throat in reflex. All of this because he didn't know what the bad cider was supposed to look like. And who in the world had even done it? She had spoken but he was too busy dying to notice. His eyes focused on on the subject and he was about to give her a tongue lashing (as ironic as it may be) even as he only barely registered the loss of a feather when somecreature else interrupted his train of thought. At least Tiger Blood's statement wasn't something that could get him angry. Well, he still would be. He was dying a little. "I'm-" he hacked up a pile of nothing as the liquid was still playing havoc on his throat. He shook his head and started hovering again. It also gave him just enough time to regain what little composure he had.
"I'm not drunk," he said confidently. "I was drunk. Now, I'm hungover. Did you know that the Apple family cider looks like the same?"
A pause.
"Well, it did to me. Uggh, it doesn't matter," he said as he pocketed his 'invitation'. "Thanks for the potion," he said evenly, trying to not make a scene, "but I need to see the Chancellor before the wedding," he took off flying, eyes desperately searching for the right

Okay. Okay. The stallion who spoke, she understood him. Kind of. He was speaking in an unusually formal and wordy manner but she...vaguely remembered her time in Manehattan and wasn't too caught off-guard. In private schools you always ran into ponies that thought verbosity passed for personality and wit but she found that idea lacking in concrete evidence. And really, who needed personality and wit, even a bit, when you got a flank that won't quit? Still, she guessed he might have been turning it on for such an event. And under all that, he was being awfully complimentary of her and she wasn't about to do anything else but very humbly and graciously accept and devour any morsel of attention she could. She tittered as he started leading her away. "Well, lead on. Like, this event is sooooo not ready for me. Tch, well, maybe," she said as she saw some of the dresses on display. Maybe she wasn't as cocky, though wearing a Rarity design was certainly strong. And then the mare spoke and her overwhelmingly exasperating choice of words made Moonlight's brain start to melt, overheated as it tried to comprehend some of the meanings and all of the intent and just coming back increasingly irked. Not that she'd show it. She'd just allow her brain to melt and reboot with a smile!

Nilaavin arched an eyebrow Swift talked. What a prideful pony that one was without a hint of fear as well. But it was well founded, he can’t hurt them. Not even a little bit! Unless some pony made a move to hurt Blue or his wives they can walk all over him in safety. It was a shameful fact and one he did his best to play down so they did not work out how declawed this cat was. “What is dead may best be left dead, no point in digging up a corpse laid to rest.” He remarked back on his language. Some day he hoped to pull it back from nothingness but today was not that day. “Thank you Sir.” He added with a wave of his paw as Swift jumped off the roof. Peeking over the top he watched the pony float down softly. He hoped for a splat. Oh well.

Looking over at the ongoing… mess up here he just rolled his eyes. “You act before you think Mis, some day that will see you die on a blade you very well may have seen coming if you looked before you lept.” He then gets up, stretching his legs as he looks down at the masses coming in to the building. “And no need to help me track her down. I see the Mayer. Tiger, do keep the roof safe and do be careful, I think we have a tick up here.” He added glancing at the mare one more time before stepping off the rooftop.

Falling down he landed on his four paws with a heavy thump, making several ponies fall over in shock from his landing. Without missing a beat he walked down the line eyes fixed on Spoiled Rich. “You, Mis Spoiled Rich is it? You are the Mayor of this town if I’m not mistaken. I wish to speak with you for just a moment, you will not miss the wedding you have my word on that.” He says looking down at her then nodding his head to some nearby trees before he walked that way. No need to shame her in front of everypony with what he wanted to say.

~~~~~~~~~~
Tempest sinkers as the mare talks. “Oh. You have no clue how boring this is going to be.” She says with a shake of her head. “Preparer to sit on that flank and do nothing and try not too die from boredom. The fun comes in the after party where we all get drunk on free drinks and too much cake… At least others can, I can’t drink.” She says looking down at the last part, glancing at her down belly. But she snapped her head back up and looked over at the mare. “What you want to do sounds way more fun than this. Weddings are oh so very boring here… if I ever have one I think I need too hire a few Acroneighos mares to spice it up, most of all if they are look good as you do.”
Rose wasn't particularly bothered by all the animosity directed at her, although she was a bit peeved at their lack of thankfulness.
She wanted to comment on Nilaavin's warning, and the cat-bird's quip as well, but everybody left before she much as got a word in. Sighing, she turned to her only remaining companion for the time being, getting more comfortable as she lay on her belly. "Chaotic indeed, good sir. Why, I'd scarcely believe the events that have transpired thusfar if I had not witnessed them with mine own eyes."
She scanned the procession again, picking out a particularly strong signature in the area and briefly focusing on her, but she was already engaged in conversation with another. Perhaps she may catch up to her later and probe her a bit? "I know the timing is poor, but there's little else to do up here so I might as well state my proposal. In a little more than a week's time I'll be leading an expedition into the enchanted forest nearby. Harvesting hydra blood. Would you be interested in joining in your free time?"
She weaved a quick spell as she stated her inquiry, something to get a little more input on this 'Jade Beaker' as subtly as possible. And another one aimed at Nivaalin to find out just what exactly a sphinx is.
~Wordsworth Psmith~
If Blueblood's loquacious secretary was in any way discombobulated or offended by Jade Beaker's affectation of his mannerisms, he didn't show it.  Quite the opposite in fact, he seemed quite pleased.  "Ah, a sympathizer, may I even presume a fellow-traveler, Comrade Beaker?  I shan't ask you for your Party Card, only for the dues properly rendered from the able to the needy."  His words were smooth, his magic and hooves even smoother.  Jade was wearing quite the bangled and spangled dress, and it was but a work of the moment for the sartorially-educated Psmith to identify the loosest and remove it.  He did so quickly, but brazenly, no attempt to hide the thing.  "Auctioned, this should feed a family of four for a month.  Five, if calories are scrupulously counted."
Jade might have been inclined to retaliate at such behavior, but Berry only laughed, hoofing over one of her own hoof-rings.  "If you were taking donations for charity, you only had to ask!"  Once Psmith was out of earshot, she whispered, "I've been to university, though I didn't end up graduating.  Met a bunch of his type up in the city; they're a real help if they see you in a jam, but if you're not, they'll as soon walk off with your umbrella to give it to someone they see scrambling without one in the rain."
~Spoiled Rich~
Such talk of Socialism (or, to be strictly more accurate to the name of Wordsworth's singular economic heresy, "Psocialism"), would have fallen on deeply unsympathetic ears, had Mayor Rich deemed it worth eavesdropping in to.  As it was, she had a creeping sensation of brewing chaos, never far or unfamiliar to a Ponyvillian.  If she had her way, future generations would have their mind boggled at just how bad it used to be before the Great Mayor Rich put things in order.
How fortunate for her that someone of similar feeling was seeking her out.  At first, she gave him a most unimpressed look, an affectation, given his size and impact upon landing.  However, Niil was not one whose requests even an official could ignore.  Not because she was intimidated by mere size, no!  She simply would not snub any who were so close to royalty.  "I do hope this will not take much time, Mister... Niilavin, was it?  I fear the longer I take my eyes off what is going on, the more egregious a sight shall greet them upon their return."
It was so nice to be back in Ponyville again. This was such a lovely town and it was full of such colorful individuals. What made Presteza's current visit even more enjoyable was how things seemed to have calmed down. In the past few months, she'd noticed considerably less unusual calamities centering around this town and more just unconventional Hijinks. Hijinks and tomfoolery was exactly the kind of things this artist could get behind. Today, however, it wasn't that sort of silliness that brought her to town, instead it was to attend a wedding of dear friends... three of them to be specific.
She'd met Blueblood through her own background and her own Coltfriend. He'd proved a very sweet presence despite his reputation in the past. Now when she heard of the royal, the first thing that came to mind was a excitement. Just hearing about all the friends he'd made and the journeys he had made her feel as if perhaps she'd given up her travels a bit too soon. Dunnie and Star Crusader had been quite busy on their journeys as well from what she'd heard. Dunnie in particular had been up to a lot since she'd last seen her.  Entering the hall she noticed another unicorn making her way to the front door though she seemed to have such a bounce in her step that you'd think she was the one getting married today.  The Guards let her in though, so Presteza simply held the door for the earthen colored mare as she made her way in.
The unicorn let out a reflexive ,"Merci." as she passed by the painter and began looking for a seat.
Letting the door close up behind her, Presteza looked over the crowd and blinked a few times. By the sisters, she didn't recognize anypony here. Had it truly been so long since she'd socialized with somepony in town? Wait, there was one familiar face! Swift Squall was here! It'd been so long since she'd spoken to him, He wasn't sitting though, instead he was making his way off to the side towards the changing room. The painter made an eager trot over to the swordstallion, "Swift!" She called out with a nervous smile, "It's wonderful to see you again. 'Ow's Fire been?" Seems the trottingham accent was starting to slip out again.
Bevel was excited for so many reasons. She barely noticed the colorful pony who let her in, but managed to get out a thank you just as she was let inside. What had Bevel so excited today wasn't just that a great friend was getting married, but that she'd managed to get the device making her friend's new changes able to work consistently without a need for a counter enchantment link to maintain the aetheric flow! It took about an hour to get that guard to understand why she had to bring her aetheresonance scanner in during the ceremony but, she was positive he understood. When a pony just stares into the middle distance with their eyes glazing over, that was about usually the time when they just nodded in the affirmative about the in depth properties of magitech machinery.
Now, that she was in she could get a look around. Her eyes widened when she noticed a sudden spike in thaumaturgical energies in the direction of a big strapping stallion over on the bench talking to a couple other ponies. Rather than burst into the conversation, Bevel sat in an adjacent spot and monitored the magical energies coming off of the large frame of Nilaavin, an expression of sheer awe on her face.
“No worries, Nil, I won’t let anything actually dangerous pass.” Tiger nodded, watching as all the creatures on the roof left until it was just him and Rose left. He sat down, watching as more guests approached and listening as Rose spoke again.
“A journey into the Everfree to hunt a hydra? Sounds like a good challenge, count me in.” He replied, nodding to Rose as he continued his watch. It sounded like this would give him a good chance for a good fight, probably multiple from what he’d heard of the forest. “Well, since we’ll be working together whenever this goes down, maybe we should get to know each other better. I’m from Hesperia, and was the arena champ for years back home.”
————————
The next guest to arrive was a white-coated unicorn with a red bird on her shoulder. She was wearing a dress she got from Rarity, who also ended up helping the mare into the clothing. Being blind made it hard to do stuff like that, after all. She could ‘see’ living things, or their spirit, essentially, but that did not extend to non-living things. Even wooden structures were invisible to her, but that’s why she had her bird.
Solar Flare stopped in front of the door, smiling at the one guiding others to their seats as she waited for her turn.
Rose nodded, somewhat absently. Good, that makes... Four, discounting Scarlet's crew. "I'm afraid I'm unfamiliar with local geography. I'm from overseas. Andalusia." She responded, continuing to monitor the passerbys like a true born sentinel. "Although it pleases me to hear you have experience in fighting. I'm hoping for this to be a brief encounter, but one can never be too cautious when engaging in hostile creatures of this magnitude."
She gave that a moment to sink in, then cast a subtle glance in his direction, studying his features. He wasn't too bad looking. No wonder mares seemed attracted to him. "The recruitment process has been rather slow going. I hate to implore, but you wouldn't happen to know anybody with prior experience 'wrangling' hydras, would you?"
Oh for the love of Celestia. ANOTHER wedding? Why were all the ponies she knew getting married? This was probably the fifth wedding she attended this month!  There was Applejacks. There was her brother Moon Walker who married a cute gal named Bunny Hop. All of her family members could dance, most of the Walkers could not. But they tried. Her second cousin's sister's aunt was remarried. Why did she attend that wedding? Her dear old friend Ilinalta tied to knot as well.  Her old friend Emerald Sunrise also had her wedding. her 5th wedding. She was very sure this one was going to last. Uh-Hu. Sorry Emy, your wedding gifts are going to keep getting smaller every time you re-marry.
As she presented her invitation, she could not help but feel like something was walking right next to her. Something with a long tail. Was it somepony's pet? Who knows and who cares. She needed to get to this thing before somepony else was getting married. She was sure it was Dunder. But hey! There was her beloved and HEY! It was Presteza! One of her oldest friends. One who hasn't written back in ages! What was going on with that? The fiery mare almost wanted to slap the paint-brush off her buddy's booty. But she could not. She loved her favorite gal.
Fire Walker glanced over at a nearby mirror. She was looking good. Another new white dress. This was different than her others. She quickly shook off what looked like an orange scale? Huh? After she got a good look of herself, she slowly made her way over to her hubby to be and her buddy that was always to be. The artistically talented mare was one of the first she mailed to tell her she would be having a foal. And she got no response. Did she get her letter?
"Hey Swifty.", she gave her favorite stallion a swift-peck on his cheek. "And hello Miss Pressey...", she smiled at the unicorn.
USG3AI7.png?1
Smolder was completely innocent. She did not crash this wedding, because she was not technically attending it. She had been asked to look for her very special and very fuzzy blue bird-pal Gallus and was allowed to amble in without causing any trouble. She was trying to find a friend, and obviously this was friend was invited so she would get his 'plus one', or did she simply walk along a rather panicked red mare?  All eyes were on her. She was a special pony. Friend of many who were attending, so eyes were on her, not the smaller, oranger creature that was walking along side her. She smelled like cinnamon and the young dragon was rather found of that scent.
She was also fond of some of the drinks ponies were serving. They came in small glasses, were colorful and tasted really good....Gin Martini...Whiskey Ginger...Manehattan..Cute names, but after sneaking a few with the help of her rather agile tail, she was starting to feel a bit odd. A bit funny. She even giggled at somepony's really bad joke.."Heh-Heh. A rip off.", she continued her search until she found him! Hurray! She wanted to shout, but she did not want to cause a ruckus. She needed to find him and then do what? Sweet Smolder's second aunt, she forgot!
"Chancellor before the wedding?", she snuck up on her fuzzy friend, "Why would you want to see him you big fuzzy sassy dummy?", the dragon was also rather befuddled. "I think I'm supposed to find you...Or was it Silverstream? Oh wait, we did that already.", she started to lean on him.
