((OOC: I realize that this character has the possibility and high-likelihood of becoming mane cast. Yes I will re-app her if this happens, I almost guarantee that canon!Minty will be obsessed with socks though. There is no way the FiM folks are going to pass that one by :) This app only includes elements (socks and klutziness) of her canon and fanon personalities from the previous generations, the rest if pure me.))

Dislikes:Negative Nancys, alfalfa, being told to "grow up and be responsible", the mere IDEA that that far-off town of Ponyville has such a thing as a "Winter Wrap-up"

Character Summary:

Minty is one of the most cheerful ponies you would ever want to meet. In fact, maybe overly cheerful to ponies her own age who have more responsibilities. Older mares and stallions find her "refreshing", and she's never been able to figure out whether they're making a pun on her name or not. Because she loves the colder winter months, Minty has an extensive collection of scarves and socks. It is not uncommon to see her prancing around with several LAYERS of nicely coordinating socks even. Ordinarily kind of a klutz (Minty can trip on her own hooves just standing there), you get this mare in ice skates, and you get a graceful and beautiful creature zipping around on the frozen water. When on skates, Minty pretends that she can fly. In fact, more often than not she wears a sparkling blue cape and a cowl while on the ice in emulation of her favorite comic book character, Ice-Mare.

Born to Snowflake, her winter-loving (and somewhat spacey) dam, and sugar-and-caffeine-crazed goofball of a sire Mocha Swirl, Minty did not exactly have the greatest of role models when it came to settling down and becoming a productive member of society. Minty was, to put it delicately, coddled as a foal, a filly and even still as a young mare by her sire and dam, who were way more concerned with being her friend that the guardians that she needed. Because of this, she never learned the life skills to survive on her own, and still lives at home, which suits her JUST FINE, and gives her more opportunities to laze about, add to her every growing collections of comic books, socks and scarves that are slowly overtaking the second story of her parents' house. Which suits Minty just fine because the shelves of these insulating materials keep in the cold provided by the ice-blocks she smuggles in every day during the summer. She gets them from the same distributor (who she suspects is backed by a unicorn who just makes the blocks with magic) that brings in the ice for the ice cream shop. The fanciful earth pony believes that the unicorn responsible for making the ice is a handsome stallion...and her DESTINY! Who knows, maybe she's right.

She was always considered the class clown in school. She did not always apply herself as well as she might and had trouble doing her homework and chores, and in fact only really entered her element in the winter when she played snow "war" games with her friends. There, she was the perfect general: quick, decisive, organized, and most importantly (to her anyway) always on the winning side! The neighborhood quickly learned that not only was she a tactical genius when it came to icy warfare, but she was able to concoct the absolute perfect hot chocolate creations (the secret was heavy on the mint, and just a TINY pinch of cayenne pepper) to warm up her "troops" and keep them going. She'd been perfecting the recipe ever since she discovered it.

On one particularly cold and snowy day, while she was still a school-filly an unscheduled blizzard came, brought on by some nasty prankster pegasi from Cloudsdale. Her tiny village was covered in snow up to everypony's flanks, even higher for the fillies, colts and foals in town. And she and her friends were trapped in the schoolhouse! They had to dig themselves out and get to their warm homes, as the wood for the woodburning stove that heated the one-room schoolhouse was almost gone! But try to tunnel or flounder through the snow as they might, it was just too cold for them all to break through. With some quick thinking she nosed through everyone's lunchbags, and came up with an assortment of chocolate (from various chocolate bars), mints (from her own personal stash), and hot peppers, (from a fiery classmate's saddlebag). She heated this up on the candles they had as their remaining source of light and heat. Her classmates looked at her, wonder what the normally silly and lacksidasical pony was doing, and to their surprise she was heating up vast quantities of melted snow from their tunneling, and adding the perfect amounts of the ingredients to make a pick-me up hot chocolate drink that kept the ponies who were tunneling going longer. With her tasty hot beverages, they were able to break through to the nearest house, which had a much larger fireplace, and stay warm. Minty felt a tingle on her flank, which she just thought was her body warming up after being cold for so long. Imagine her surprise when her cutie mark appeared!
