Name: Green Flash

Sex: Male

Age: Stallion

Species: Pegasus

Coat Color:

Mane/Tail/Markings Color & Style: Wavy and somewhat wispy, like some of his mane and tail break off when they get to a certain length.

Eye Color: Deep reddish orange

Cutie Mark: What looks like a stack of concentric, multicolored pancakes. It's actually a representative of an illusory phenomena called a green flash.

Physique: A little oddly pear shaped. Has a rather larger rump and hind legs compared to the front half of him. He wears lots of flashy accessories to mask this.

Origin: Formerly Cloudsdale, currently near Mt. Firefoal

Roleplay Type: mane RP

Occupation: Astronavigator

Motivation: Eventually to circumnavigate the planet and discover far off lands. Right now, to try to make money to fund such an expedition.

Likes: Piracy. He LOVES piracy, and romanticizes it to a degree that he is ineffectual. He also likes tinkering with things, exploring, the sea, the sky, and actually, there's not a whole lot he doesn't gleefully love.

Dislikes: Hardtack. For obvious reasons. Ponies who don't try to dress fashionably, or at least in keeping with his rather warped opinion on what is fashionable.

Character Summary:

Green Flash was born on the outskirts of Cloudsdale to two rather unremarkable weather pegasai, but he was always an odd sort of pony. As a foal, he refused to try to learn to fly, or even scoot along on a scooter like many pegasus foals do until their wings are strong enough to bear their weight. He would just splay atop a light cloud, and kick himself through the more dense clouds like he was on a floating pool toy in water. The little green pegasus would often be fascinated by the pools that the rainbows flowed into, often making little boats out of paper and wisps of clouds to float among the prismatic colors. Of course, often the boat would disintegrate in the spiciness of the rainbow if the paper wasn't thick enough*

As he got older, the dreaming didn't end. As a colt, still not able to fully use his wings he would still hug a particularly light cloud to propel himself around. Down to earth to skim the water, up into the stratosphere so high he could barely breathe, as long as his parents could see him, even just a speck of him, they let him pretty much go as high or low as he wanted with his cloud, (which he named Wilfred Von Cumulus, and pretended it spoke to him in a Trottingham accent). And since he had the support and had learned to maneuver it vertically through the atmosphere from an early age, while the rest of his peers were trying to actually fly from cloud to cloud, he became quite adept at knowing exactly how high he is from sea level at all times, and became excellent at navigating by the stars and quality of light with the seasons. Even as he approached Stallionhood, he kept up this habit of using a cloud as support, despite being fully able to fly. It wasn't as if he personally needed a security blanket for emotional reasons or anything: in fact he was a gregarious cut-up without a care in the world, but the odd habit just persisted until he found his very first ship, which he dubbed the Rocinante, and made him decide to pursue a life of piracy until he could fund a voyage beyond the horizon.

Green Flash is a flamboyant, and mostly ineffectual pirate. As a middle aged stallion he has not lost his foalish curiosity in the world around him. He almost never shuts up in a social situation, but has a relatively kind heart when he's not trying to swindle somepony. He's the life of the party wherever he goes, and despite being rather eccentric, odd-looking, and extremely clumsy on land, he is quite popular with the mares. To meet him, you would not assume at first glance that he is particularly clever, which he does use to his advantage.

The Rocinante:**

What was once a tiny, dilapidated 3-pony fishing vessel he found washed on the beach, Green Flash has specially equipped the Rocinante with an extra-large sail, and a few secret weapons to give him an edge on the water. In particular, the tiny ship is rigged so that it can become a hot-air balloon/airship like contraption, filled up on a steam vent on Mt. Fire Foal, and kept aloft by a fire in the reinforced crow's nest. It's also equipped with a tandem bicycle-like contraption that runs a propeller on the back; used to increase speed on land or in the air. Green Flash can only use this when he has a crew. For effect he usually draws clouds to the underside of the ship, to make it appear as if it's being carried by them. Sometimes, for stealth he will disguise the ship in its entirety in cloudcover. It would be an effective means of piracy if his heart was really into the cut-throat, take what you can aspect of the lifestyle.

Headquarters:

Having an affinity for atrocious puns, and really lame figures of speech, Green Flash has decked out his cave in the side of Mt. Fire Foal in all manners of gaudy furnishings and bizarre accent lighting, almost every object accented in fringe and sequins...and calls it "the Pirate Pad". This is one reason he has difficulty securing and keeping a crew. Simply put, few self-respecting pirates will put up with occasionally being bedazzled by stray sequins. A large, thick glass bank stands behind the spotted, c-shaped sofa,

((OOC Snark:

*yes I know that this is not ACTUALLY possible, but look at his cute little fallen foal face the first time it happens. Breaking physics for the LOLs, it's the Friendship is Magic way!

**For my part, named less after Don Quixote's horse, and more after the spaceship in Rush's Cygnus X-1. Green Flash would be a Rush fan, if he were human, and would also deeply covet Alex Lifeson's kimono collection.))
