[Shop] Toy's Soldier

The Tiny Hooves Toy Shop had only opened up a couple of months ago and so many commisions for so many toys had been made it was unimaginable to think that one eager earth pony stallion could make so many in so short a time, the walls were covered in custom cuckoo clocks, wind up toys, teddy bears, dolls while on the floor were baskets of balls and soft toys and wooden toys. Wooden toys especially seemed to be everywhere, varnished and polished and painted. With bells and screws, wheels, horns and all manner of different attachment's for the foal's enjoyment. However no foals, infact no one had come into the shop at the moment, the sign said 'closed' and inside the owner was busy writing something at the counter with a very disgruntled looking aqua foal sat on a stool nearby.

The two would occasionally glance at each other, the stallion would offer a smile maybe, but he wouldn't recieve it from the angry looking young male and there would be a lengthy pause before the same continued.

Finally the older male broke with a sigh as he finished writing.

"Champ..."

The foal scrunched his face at being spoken too and turned himself away as the stallion forced a small, if somewhat helpless smile as he raised a hoof to rest on the boy's back in some hope to be a comfort.

"Buddy look, I know you're not used to all this change and moving to a new home is difficult for somepony your age, but taking it out on other ponies just isn't-"

"I hate it here!" The foal snapped at the adult, apparently his father, who winced and took his hoof away with a small sigh. He then turned and moved to roll up the piece of paper he'd been writing on with a slightly worried look to his young son who continued to huff on the stool.

"Look, Champ," The tired old pony started. "I'm going to send this appology letter to miss Applejack and miss Rarity, atleast I believe that's what their name's were, for the trouble you caused the other day...maybe they'll have some work for you to do to make up for what you did, or atleast accept the appology-"

"Dad! I wanna go -home-!" The brash young foal interupted again, jumping down from the stool. "I hate being here, the ponies are stupid and I miss my friends!"

"You can make new friends."

"I don't want to make new friends! I WANT TO GO -HOME-!"

"CHAMP!" The older stallion watched his son shrink back slightly at his yelling, to which a small, bedraggled sigh once more left his muzzle and he headed for the front of the shop. Flipping the sign to 'open' as he began to make his way out.

"I need you to watch the shop whilst I'm off posting these letters, please, just do this for me, will you, son?"

Watching his father leave with the small jingle of the shop door's bell, the young male just gritted his teeth and went to slide on his assitant's apron. He hated watching the shop. He hated customers. He hated Ponyville. As he moved to sit on the counter stool he let his mind drift onto Fillydelphia and the friends they'd been forced to leave and the happy memories that were there with it too.

Hearing the bell at the door jingle, the foal was pulled from his thoughts with a slight grumble, no customers today, pleeeeease no customers, but seeing the pony walk in he found himself wincing to himself and watched this strangepony approach the counter. He'd never seen this one before, then again, he hadn't really chosen to socialise much with the Ponyvillian's and watching him the comment struck a chord. Glowering he was about to let this older colt have it before his father's yelling voice rang around in his thoughts.

In a drolled out tone he sighed.

"Welcome to Tiny Hooves Toy Shop..." He started unenthusiasticly, moving from the stool and around the counter as he watched him, eyes half lidded almost like he was tired from the effort of talking to this pony and he scuffed a hoof against the floor impatiently. He could be kicking his ball around or something right now, or finding a way to get home.

"How can I...help you...?"

Well this foal wasn't in a good mood. That was odd for a pony working in a toy store. One would think he'd be a bit more enthusiastic. "Not too happy to be working today?" He looked up and around at all the shelves. "Sorry then, I'll make this quick. I'm looking for a toy for my little sister, but I have no idea what to get her." He knew that just asking for this foal's help at all would annoy him, but he had no idea what toy to get Star Dash.

Glowering slightly under his mohawk he supressed every want to yell and to shout at the pony before him for his comment, ofcourse he wasn't happy to work here, dealing with foals and adults and...and just Ponyvillian's alike. But thinking of his father he felt the tiniest twinge of guilt as the young colt scuffed his hooves against the floor and he moved to the nearest wall of dols sat on a shelf neatly, pretty pony dolls with lovely hair and wooden ponies on wheels, wooden cows and sheep and dogs and piglets, all painted and the like to make them look more appealing. Girls liked pink right?

"What does your little sister like, or don't you know?" Glancing back at the pony he frowned faintly, picking up one toy and looking at it before settling it back down. Darnit he wanted to get out and play or kick something about. He hated work and he hated the shop.

"I can't help ya with girls toys unless you know what your sister would like."

"I know what she likes, don't worry."Let's think, Star Dash. He played with her often enough, he should know this. But that filly changed her mind every other day. Last time, she'd been all about sports, right? Or was that the time before? She had a pretty massive doll collection too, though. He looked at sports toys, then towards the dolls. "Let's see..." He wished she would have just told her what she wanted, he was no good at buying gifts. "Dolls, I suppose. The prettier, the better." He'd just have to hope he could get something good, he doubted that this foal knew anymore about gifts than he did. And if he did, Chocolate Specter doubted that he would try to help.

Dolls, great. Groaning he moved to the nearest stool and scrambled himself up ontop of it with as much dignity as he could, he hated flailing and he hated tripping, it made him feel weak and that he -hated-. Above all other things. However once he was on the stool, he pushed gently against the wall and the stool wheeled itself along the row of shelves till it stopped at a specific point along the rows of dolls and teddy bears till he stood up on his back hooves to try and reach a specific shelf.

Once he had reached it, it was apparent -what- he was reaching for. A bright white pony doll with a small gala dress adorned with faux pearls and gems on the silk and it's long blone locks curled and added with tiny glittering flowers to match its dress. As it was handled, it was apparent the care the boy was putting into handling it, eyes wide in concentration as he kept his balance and held the delicate little lady in his hooves before hopping off his stool.

As he hopped, the stool must've shifted with his weight because his body jolted and he went rolling, doll flown into the air as the foal went tumbling like a ball to the far wall with a crash, teddy ursa's landing on him with soft squeaks or gentle sounds of fabric on nose before it was joined with the doll landing with an equally delicate thud on his aproned stomache. With a brief look of panic he inspected the doll, looking for any broken parts. Any frayed fabric. Any missing pearls or gems. But it slowly became apparent that where he'd went rolling like a tumbleweed across the floor, the doll was still in its perfect state. Lucky, stupid doll.

Holding it aloft he dropped his head back to look at the customer, everything slightly twirled with the dizziness added with everything being upside down.

"T-This might be good."

The foal took his work seriously, which was kind of surprising after all the sulking he had done before. He was careful as he picked up a very extravagant looking doll and began to bring it down. That was a pleasant surprise, Chocolate Specter had half-expected the foal to grab the first doll he saw then throw it in a bag. But nope, instead he was the ideal employee. The foal prepared to hop down, but the stool moved slightly and sent him tumbling to the ground, then rolling into a wall.

Chocolate Specter quickly moved toward the pony to make sure he was alright, but the foal was already offering him the doll, suggesting it. It was a nice doll, the- focus! "Are you alright? That was a pretty bad fall."

Tangled up in himself he managed to find his hooves soon enough, stupid doll undamaged and finding himself repressing every desire to smash the dainty pony in his palm for using his stomache as a landing pad. But all things in good time. His stress would have to be sated at a later date and as he shuffed to stand he peered at the older pony and snorted ever so slightly. As if it should be obvious that he was fine. A simple tumble wouldn't get him down.

He wasn't going to state that it did scuff his elbow and knees to Celestia but that wasn't any of this pony's business.

"Yeah yeah, 'm fine." The foal snarked as he made his way past Specter, moving back towards the counter as he pulled out some fancy wrapping paper for the doll and began to prepare it for its new owner. The light green paper delicately placed around it before a small pink ribbon was added. He felt like such a girl doing this. How could dad stand doing this? All these ribbons and girly toys and ugggh it made him want to throw up and even as he primped and made the toy packaging look presentable he frowned.

That done, he glanced over a list held off to the side on a clipboard and murmured as he eye'd the inventory. Once it stopped at the toy's name there was a soft sound of realisation and he looked to the pony expectantly.

"That'll be eight bits."

The foal said he was fine, moving around behind the counter. He was back to the annoyed pony who seemed to hate all of existence. Nonetheless, he moved behind the counter, wrapping up the the doll up. Was that just how they sold toys here? He hadn't asked him to wrap it, after all. He chuckled as the young pony's face reflected his disgust at the sheer girlishness of the situation. Looking over at something, the foal said it would be eight bits.

"Eight bits it is, then." Wit that, Chocolate Specter tilted his head down, his top hat tumbling off. He pulled out a few bits from the bag inside, and set the onto the counter. He grabbed the rim of his hat and flipped it off of his head before picking up the doll gently. "I'm sure Star Dash will love this, thank you for your help. Sorry if I annoyed you too much."

He says, making his way out the door.
