Roleplay Type: World of Equestria RP

Name: Lightning Dancer

Sex: Female

Age: Young Mare

Species: Pegasus

Eye colour: Minty green

Coat colour: White, grey freckles on her face

Mane/Tail/Markings colour & Style: Lightning has short, straight hair. It is styled with an edgy intent in mind. It is cut jaggedly so that it does not require much styling. Her tail is kept very short so not to snag when she's flying. It is a raspberry colour, with paler highlights from lots of sun.

Physique: Petite in weight and height, small for her age.

Cutie Mark: A music note, a sixteenth to be exact. Black in colour.

Origin/Residence: Lightning was born and raised in Cloudsdale, and is still living there. She lives with her parents, Blue Skies and Storm Cloud, who both work at the Rainbow Factory. Lightning plans to move to Las Pegasus to pursue a career in music as soon as she feels ready, and her parents are willing to let her go. She is hoping to build up a bit more confidence, because she knows that a life on-stage takes a lot of criticism.

Occupation: Currently, Lightning is on the Aeroblades Reserve Team, the official Right Wing. Before that, she taught speed flying at the Junior Speedsters. She still studies music, hoping to someday make it big.

Motivation: Lightning loves speed flying and music, those are her two favourite things. Even though she has hooves, she plays guitar with much skill and ease. She is is also dating her best friend of all time, Black Moon, and this hardly ever leaves her thoughts.

History: Lightning Dancer was born in Cloudsdale, and raised by two loving parents. She also had a sister, Diamond Dancer, who she was very close with. Her neat and eccentric mother constantly nitpicked her appearance, which made her incredibly insecure. Her mother did not do this out of spite, but it had the same affect. Her father taught her to speed-fly as a young foal, for that had been his life-long passion.

From a young age, Lightning had a fascination with music. She would always stop to stare at the guitars in the display window of her local music store, thinking them beautiful. She would listen to her music and dream about playing an instrument for herself. Finally, her parents agreed to buy her a guitar. She became addicted to it, thrilled whenever it was time to sit down and play. Soon, she was recognized by many for her excellent skill at such a young age. She became locally known for her guitar playing and her song-writing, to which she dedicated much time.

For a very long time, music was just another hobby to Lightning. Then the mayor of Cloudsdale wanted a town anthem written, and was looking for fresh new faces in the composition business. Lightning decided to sign up, and wrote a song about growing up in Cloudsdale. Her song was picked as the town anthem, and she rocketed into local stardom.

For school, she and Diamond went to Hoofington, where she bonded with Black Moon, her best friend and colt-friend. Lightning Dancer was a late bloomer, the last to get her cutie mark. Her own sister got hers before her! In school she was constantly picked on for one reason or another, which made her very soft-spoken around people she doesn't know well. Her low self-esteem amazes people, especially, Black Moon, because her talents are so strong.

One day, she was restless and looking for a racing challenge. She found herself in an intense race with Crescent Blaze and Winter. After the difficult and exhilarating race, Crescent asked if she wanted to join the Aeroblades. She said yes, and is now enjoying her time on one of Equestria's best flying teams. They travel around Equestria, and complete incredibly feats with daring challenges.

Diamond Dancer, a unicorn, now lives and thrives in Canterlot. Lightning often misses her sister, but doesn't let it get to her. When she is feeling lonely, Black Moon is always there to cheer her up. The two are peas in a pod and could never be separated. The two were friends for the longest time, Blackie and Lightie, introduced to one another by a teacher who thought they would get along well. This teacher paired them up for many assignments, and though it took a while for the two to hit it off it finally worked. Best friends for a long time, Lightning always had a blast with Blackie. One day she realized that she couldn't live without the blue colt in her life, and was astounded to discover he felt the same way. The two have been a happy couple ever since.

Cutie Mark Story: Lightning was already done with school when she got her cutie mark. Still not sure what she was wanting to do with her life (she deemed none of her talents reasonable enough to make an income) she lazily took whatever jobs came her way. Then, a few days before Winter Wrap-Up, she was contacted by the mayor of Ponyville, who had heard about her from others, and assigned the special task of creating that year's Spring Anthem. She wrote it, working with the other musical ponies on top of the project. She liked fast tempos, and this was noted by her comrades. She wrote a quick, strong, spring song that seemed to fit the season perfectly. As she finished the song, her cutie mark appeared. Once she arrived home, her parents decided to let her dedicate her life to music.

Family:

  • Father - Storm Cloud, a very mellow pegasus stallion with a black coat and raspberry hair. Works at the Weather Factory, creating rainbows.
  • Mother – Blue Skies, an eccentric perfectionist pegasus nare with a white coat, green eyes, and sky-blue hair. Also works with the rainbows at the Weather Factory.
    Her parents love her a lot, but expect a lot from her. They are often overprotective of their daughters.
  • Sister- Diamond Dancer, a chill, quirky, and happy-go lucky unicorn with a very come-what-may attitude. A total eccentric weirdo with a very deep and passionate underside that she lets few in on. A truly complicated filly, and Lightning's best friend.

Nicknames: People sometimes call her Lightie.

Fashion Sense: Lightning is incredibly carefree about her fashion sense, dressing in only what's comfortable. Sometimes, on night rides, she likes to wear her cape out.

Personality: Other than her insecurities, Lightning is a beautiful pony. She is caring, and good with foals and animals. She is incredibly romantic, but she hardly lets anybody see this side of herself. Despite her good side, she has an attraction to anything rebellious and dangerous. She loves to go a little TOO fast when she's flying sometimes. She has been in trouble at school as well. She has a great sense of humour, but is quiet about it around people she doesn't know well. A part of her is just waiting to break free and show people who she truly is: outgoing, confident and adventurous.

Overall pony design: pegasus mare, slightly small, Vinyl Scratch's mane and Rainbow Dash's tail. As a filly had filly Dash's design with different colouring.

This is kind of a strange choice of name. Cloudchaser is the canon name of one of the background pegasus mares introduced in the episode Hurricane Fluttershy (I happen to RP as her). Adding the space in the middle I guess kind of makes it a different name, but it's still a little close I think. You might consider changing it.

Reading your application I am left with a couple questions about her backstory. You mention that she received her cutie mark while creating the Spring Anthem for the local Winter Wrap Up. I take it she was into music beforehand. Was she always into music from the start, or was it something that developed over time, or from a particular instance?

Other than I feel this application is fine. :)

In time for Winter Wrap-Up, she was contacted by the mayor of Ponyville to come out and help with the Spring Anthem.

Of all the musical ponies out there, why would the Mayor go to a filly in Cloudsdale who's only known locally? I would also think this sort of agreement would count as a prior relation.

I'd recommend changing this to a local project somepony in Cloudsdale wanted done. Makes more sense for a filly known locally to be contacted locally, and it eliminates the cast connection. :)
