There will be no apple bucking today. No ma'am.

Today was the big day. That big day where Ponyville doubled it's pony volume. Today, ponies would be filing in off the train station, trains coming from all corners of Equestria. Today was the annual Apple Family Reunion.

Applejack was always flattered that her distant relatives had always agreed to come to Ponyville for the reunion. Besides it being one of the biggest landmarks in all of Equestria, it had made its name well known to anyone who loves apples. Sweet Apple Acres was also conveniently located as a central meeting place--a visit to Ponyville was never too much of a trek for most anypony.

The spacious orchard grounds that fell in the apple barn's shadow was all set up with picnic tables, several paralleled pits of horseshoe tossing, and barrels of apple cider. Some of the community tables in the lot were empty to make room for any special apple recipes relatives decided to bring. There was sure to be enough food for everypony. In fact, Applejack and the rest of the family had always counted on non-family members to join the fun.

Applejack sat at rest under a tree in the shade next to the entrance to the farm. All of the family should arrive any minute!

"HAY APPLEJACK!!!!" Granny Smith yelled as she set out one more fresh baked apple pie on a picnic table in the back of the yard. "IS ANY OF OUR KINFOLK HERE YET? BEEN COOKIN' AND BAKIN' ALL MORNIN' SO THEY BETTER GIT THAR CABOOSES IN GEAR AND START COMIN' TO THE FARM!"

The elderly mare wanted this day to be perfect! Truth be told, she was looking forward to this just as much if not more than the rest of the family. The lime green mare also hoped that her baby brother, affectionately known as Uncle Apple Strudel, would arrive soon. The last she had heard the gray bearded stallion was competiting in a Yodeling and Tuba contest back in Germaney. Granny Smith was proud of her brother, although she did think he acted a little weird at times.

Some ponies, their calendar revolved around hard-dates and times, maybe holidays. Apple Bloom's revolved around the reunion.

Apple Bloom's excitement was palatable. More than that, even. Infectious like a virus, spreading from pony to pony as she leapt about since the break of dawn. She loved her Apple family the most, but right behind them was the entire tree of Apples that she belonged to. As she told her somewhat confused schoolmates, today was the day when the whole tree would come by to visit and she had every intention of playin' with every conceivable branch of it. Bumpkin was coming by and she'd be shocked and offended if everypony around didn't know plainly that she was not only her favorite cousin, but best friend besides her Cutie Mark Crusader friends. And Applejack. And Big Mac. And Granny Smith. Maybe Winona. But still, Bumpkin was right up there! She was excited to see Caramel Apple as well, though Apple Bloom couldn't claim to have the same type of relationship with her as Bumpkin.

Her great uncle Apple Strudel! He would be there too! She didn't get see much of her silly 'ol Uncle, but he always had such a fine way with the little ones that she couldn't help but love him more every time. And Braeburn, that smooth talkin' settler, he was more fun than a whole barrel of apples. And barrels of apples were fun! And that strong stallion uncle of hers, Red Delicious, he always gave Apple Bloom a full bushel of those tiny and delicious crab apples whenever he showed his strong self 'round these parts and Apple Bloom had no intention of letting him get away without doing it this time too. Valen wasn't gonna stop by, seeing as how he was an Orange and had Orangy type business in the big cities, but he had sent a card that was awkwardly hoof written. That was nice!

Bounce bounce bounce!

Apple Bloom did her best Pinkie Pie impersonation that day as she bounced around the farm, too giddy for speech at times. She eventually found a spot in the Red Delicious orchard where at the top of her bounce, she could see down on Ponyville, down on the road that led to the farm. She jumped up and down in place, hoping against hope that at the apex of her giddy leap, she would see an Apple strolling down the road.

Big Mac wasn't a big taker of days off - in fact, he was often consistantly the hardest working apple on the farm...

Perhaps this was why he was feeling somewhat at a loose end today, given that all major farm activities were being put aside for the family reunion...leaving the usually workaholic stallion at a little bit of a loss. It wasn't that he didn't enjoy having the time off, it was just that he had gotten SO used to the idea of his normal routine that it was almost disconcerting to have absolutely nothing to do here other than keep an odd check, here or there, that things were fine and that there wasn't anything that was going to be an immediate problem later on.

with AJ resting, Apple Bloom positively beside herself with joy and Granny Smith doing Kitchen patrol, Macintosh found himself just kinda drifting around the farm, pondering just how everypony else had been - truth be told, the red stallion of the apple family loved and cherished his whole family, and certainly was curious to see just how they'd been holding up since the last time they'd met up.

Come to think of it, Mac realised...that had been something of a while ago now!

Still, after finding himself at the barn, Mac decided to just quietly check over the equipment in storage there...if only to give himself something to focus on for a while until at least somepony showed up - he just wasn't all that good at waiting around and doing nothing at all!

Loud, full of energy, grinning ear from ear to ear as she steeped off the train was none other then Apple Bumpkin the best sales pony the Apple Family had. She could sell clouds to Cloudsdale and the like. But today was a day off of her hard work and was to be spent with her beloved family on the farm in Ponyville.

"Sweet Apple Acres, I haven't been here in a long time. Almost a whole year in fact!" She yelled out as she stretched. She was so excited for this event it was nothing new that everypony in Ponyville knew was going to happen. With the arrival of the Tiny Apple Valley sisters meant there would be nothing but smiles and joy streaked in their wake as Bumpkin grinned and waved hello to everypony she saw as she trotted towards her favorite spot in all of Ponyville, SAA. "I, can't, wait, to see, my family!" She sung out as she trotted along flipping her mane back and forth with glee. She stopped at the gate to SAA and looked around, not seeing anypony else she started to trot up the path and called out.

"Hello? Is anypony home? Or am I just that early?" She giggled and then started talking to herself. "Well if I am early then I guess I'll just head to the picnic tables in the back and sprawl out and maybe finally get a chance to relax before the whole family shows up!" She was happy that she was here on the grounds of SAA, she always felt like she belonged when she walked on these grounds and saw the other members of the huge Apple Family all grinning and having a good time.

Once off the train Red headed towards the familiar farm, he remembered it from the last reunion that had been just before Nightmare Moons return, plus any Apple worth their salt knew the way to the farm! A basket hung in Red's mouth filled with small delicious, pink crab apples, and resting on the brim of the basket was the puffed up brown and cream sparrow Bushwack, letting out strange chirp noises that were supposed to be growls as he guarded the basket.

Red rolled his eyes softly as he trotted to the farm, he could see them starting to gather, and grinned going to sit his basket on a picnic table seeing his cousin Apple Bumpkin and waved at her " Why hello thar Apple tis good ta see you" That accent that drove his parents bonkers very promt in his speech "And how are ya? Are we the only ones that had the decency ta come early?" He joked.

Bushwack hopping down off the basket and onto Red's head making more strange chirpy noises.. "Do not be mindin Bushwack he's all got it up in his noggin that he's a dog.."

Braeburn was trotting happily down the road west of Ponyville, the road that lead to the annual Apple family get together at Sweet Apple Acres, the jewel of the Apple clans. While last year's event had been extra-exciting because of the summer sun celebration, Braeburn had missed it because his own orchard's first harvest had been approaching, and he'd had too much work to get away, so he'd missed the whole affair with Nightmare Moon and the return of Princess Luna, though he'd lived in fear of the exceptionally long night, along with the rest of Equestria.

Braeburn stepped over the bridge and followed the path on up through the orchard, heading for the giant red barn standing proudly up ahead - much of it was new, after being destroyed several times in the past few years by Parasprites and fire and the like. No doubt they had it rebuilt in record time; no way can one keep an Apple down! As he cantered up to the fenced entrance, a couple saddlebags jostled on his sides, filled with the best-made pies in all of Appleoosa, and no exaggeration. The townsfolks were proud of their apple pies, and had pitched in to make sure only the best of the best went with him, fancied up with all sorts of special touches.

He smiled to see Applejack sitting by the entrance, relaxing with her hat pulled low over her eyes. She must have everything ready to be seen relaxing in such a manner. "Well, howdy, Cousin Applejack, and greetings all the way from AAAAAAPPLELOOSA!!"

Sunrise Wisp crested the hill, and saw the iconic red barn come into view. She smiled and glided to the ground before crossing the bridge. Her saddlebags loaded with loaves of banana bread, she was ready to meet the rest of the Apple clan after meeting with Applejack and Granny Smith when Valen first arrived on the farm.

Crossing the bridge and entering the farm grounds, she spotted Applejack, who appeared to be sleeping next to a tree with her hat pulled over her face. The dark green Pegasus smiled and approached her and said, "Hello Applejack!". Looking around, she noticed the other ponies that she didn't recognize and gave a friendly smile and said, "Hello everypony. I'm Ponyville's dentist, Sunrise Wisp and it's a pleasure to meet you all!".

After a rather uneventful train journey, Golden made his way towards Sweet Apple Acres. He was wearing nothing but a saddle which he always took with him from the lab (mind you, full of test tubes and other portable lab equipment). In his mouth was a basket full of apples. But they weren't just normal apples. It was an extra special bunch of golden delicious apples grown on a strict diet full of glucose for the very purpose of this great event - the Apple Family Reunion. Their sweetness was beyond any normal standard of golden delicious apples, and all of it was 'natural'.

As he got to the front gate, he came face to face with Applejack, well known for being one of the famous 'Elements of Harmony'. It could've been public knowledge, it could've not, but you always got to know a lot when you meet high-class investors a few times per month.

"Howday Applejack. How are ya? Hope I ain't too earlay nor too late. Also, did Grannay Smith make sum' of that simplay m'rvellous jam of hers? I can't wait to tray it again!" said Golden enthusiastically. He really wanted to try that jam again since he himself couldn't make it but he absolutely loved the taste.

It was that time where he finally allowed his mind to stray away from lab work and he could relax amongst his family. Maybe distant family, but family nevertheless.

"I wonder which one of our kinfolk will come next?" Granny Smith asked, and she and the others didn't have long to wait. The elderly mare's ears perked up when she heard a faint rumble over the horizon. She did a 'double take' when she spotted groups of small animals and birds scampering off in all directions. When the rumbling sound in the distance got a little louder, a smile of recognition came on the gray maned mare's face.

"I'd know that thar sound anywhere! It's my baby brother!" Granny Smith neighed as the sound in the distance got even louder. It was the booming notes coming from a tuba that was wrapped around the waist of a gray bearded stallion dressed in green clothing.

150px-AppleStrudel_ID.png

It was "Uncle" Apple Strudel, the jolly lime green stallion all the way from his home in Germaney! He loved the annual Apple Family Reunions and wanted to make sure he arrived on time. Soon, the elderly pony came into view, pulling a small cart with his luggage in it behind him as he continued to play the tuba he wore proudly around his waist. OOOMMMMPPPPAAAAHHHH! OOOOMMMMMPPPPAAAAAAHHHHHH! OOOOOMMMMPPPPPAAAAAHHHHH! The loud and random notes proceding from the tuba were the unmistakable herald of his arrival.

"Guten Morgen mein family! Have tuba, vill travel!" Apple Strudel shouted as Granny Smith ran out to greet him. Of course, since she couldn't normally run very fast, it took several minutes for the wobbly mare to reach her dear brother.

The train ride from Fillydelphia would have been horrible had it not been for her sister's boundless energy keeping her enthusiasm level enough to sustain her for the length of the trip. Even then, it had nearly waned before they arrived- and Sweet Apple Acres proved to be just the salve she needed as they entered the limits of the finest orchard in the family. Speaking of them, she had seen none until they were at the picnic tables, which were lavishly decorated with all manner of treats that she had every intention of partaking in.

The first family member that she had seen was Red Delicious. A fine young stallion, she had seen him more often than many of the rest as they had grown up in the same city. She was proud of him for striking out in the Solstice Heights, which was a wise place for a farm to place itself. And then out came his adorable sparrow, Bushwhack.

"Well hello there Red! It's been a while, how are you doing? And how is your-" She began before a certain ball of fuzzy energy exploded on her head.

AppleBloomATTEMPT3final.png

Apple Bloom's eternal bounce transferred into a near bottomless well of energy as she spotted from the apex of her leaps into the sky the trickling of her relatives into the farm. She raced down to where she thought they would all mingle, where one could find all the delicious food all prepped and ready for consumption: The picnic area where the tables were set up! As she breached the tree line around the picnic area, she had three relatives to speak with hug!

"Caramel!" Apple Bloom, jumping from her spot and flying through the air until she landed with all four legs wrapped around Caramel's head. She kissed her square on the top of the head and then did another small jump onto Red Delicious.

"Reddy! Ah ain't seen ya since ah'was jus' a lil' filly!" She said, hugging him across the neck and petting Bushwhack on the head with one of her back hooves before placing herself soundly on his back and using him as a base from which to launch herself at Apple Bumpkin.

"BUMPKIN!" She said as she flew through the air and landing on Bumpkin, assaulting her briefly with kisses and a hug.

"Ah'was just' startin' to get worried y'all were gonna miss it al'!" She said, snuggling her favorite distant relative. Just then, the sound of a tuba shot out across the farm. There was plenty of time for her to play with Bumpkin later, but for now, she had more relatives to meet. She galloped off, giggling and laughing somewhat manically as she did so.

She ran down the length of the farm until she came upon Applejack and the whole gang of relatives that had just arrived. She jumped right in front of Golden Delicious and then leapt up at him, hugging him in one swift motion.

"Golden! Ah ain't seen ya in forever!" She belted as she affectionately squeezed his neck before letting go and dropping down to the ground, head twisting around as Mr. AAAAAAPPLELOOSA made himself known, Braeburn's voice carrying out. He'd make one heck of a mighty fine announcer! She trotted over to him and slid on her hooves, a pile of dust choking the air between them. When it cleared, a bright eyed and bushy tailed filly sitting on her hindquarters staring up at Braeburn with all of the intensity of a thousand adorable suns.

"BRAEBURN! Mah sister tol' me all about them buffalo and that big 'ol fight y'all had. Is everythin' 'lright up there? Why, I'm sure it is and all since you're here, ah guess mah mind's all fuzzled 'cause of all the excitement and all but ah was real' worried about y'all out there in that desert an' ah'm just so glad ta see ya!" She said, jumping up and assaulting her cousin with kisses for a second before locating her sister and rushing over to her.

She stood in front of her sister and started stamping her front hooves one at a time in place, eyes closed with a wide smile.

"THE FAMILY'S ARRIVIN'! THE FAMILY'S ARRIVIN APPLEJACK! YAAAAAY!" She joyously declared before taking a few deep breaths, nearly having run herself ragged and stamping the ground in front of her in applause with abandon., She then immediately went back to talkin'.

"Red Delicious an' Apple Bumpkin and Caramel Apple, all three of 'em are right smack near the picnic tables! And ah can swore I hurd Great Uncle Strudel's tuba cacklin' about!"

Applejack left her hat tipped down while she responded to her Granny. "They'll be coming. Any minute now." As she said this, she could hear the patter of hoofsteps approaching the farm. She saw her cousins walk into the farm, giving casual glances, and friendly waves. Two of these cousins were Apple Bumpkin, owner of Tiny Apple Valley in Fillydelphia and Golden Delicious, who was finishing his trip from the same city.

"Nonsense, Gold. You're right on time, as always. And as fer Granny?" Applejack chuckled as she rose up from her rested position. "She's got nearly one of everything, I bet. Go on o'er to the picnic area under the gazebo and you might be able to find all the fixin's."

In the distance, she could hear loud and deeply tones buzzing from Apple Strudel's tuba. It couldn't be anypony else. On the other side of Applejack was another highly concentrated bubble of noise and energy--Apple Bloom. She seemed to enjoy reunion day like no other. After a few rounds of bouncing around and enjoying seeing all the ponies show up to the farm, Applejack half-tackled Apple Bloom to hold her in place. "Simmer down, Antsy. I'm excited too. But you don't wanna wear yourself out before we get to all the real fun." Applejack winked down and her sister. She wanted to tell her in code that she understood completely her excitement.

It was then that Apple Bloom then took notice as Braeburn walked up, and gave his usual Appleloosan greeting. Apple Bloom began spitting out words faster than a rooster's crow on Monday. "No! Apple Bloom, don't!" She knew that if she could get Braeburn running in conversation, it would take several minutes just to get him to stop. Braeburn was a very social cousin, and had probably saved up all his best stories to tell since he last saw Applejack during the Buffalo compromise.

"Oh hay, cousin Braeburn. What's up?" Applejack listened to Braeburn's ramble, or at least she tried to. She wasn't about to be rude. But it was a task to follow everything he was saying, and give him the acknowledgment he probably deserved. While he was rambling, Applejack saw Sunrise Wisp arrive through the gate. The first non-apple visitor! She looked back at Braeburn, who was probably in mid-lecture. "That's great Braeburn... Braeburn.... Listen, Braeb-... Brae-... Breaburn, we gotta-... BRAEBURN!!!!" Applejack breathed heavily as it took all of her immediate energy to get through to her cousin's attention span, or lack thereof. "I'm sure your story is great, but we got a non-family visitor here!"

Applejack galloped down to the farm entrance where Sunrise greeted Applejack, and tried to introduce herself to the family, who were now trampling everywhere. Most of the ponies hadn't really noticed Sunrise's presence. They were too busy playing their tubas, greeting other family ponies they hadn't seen in a long time, and telling long-winded stories. "None of them can hear you sugarcube, but don't worry, I'll set up a greeting you'll never forget."

Applejack ran up to the triangle, which hung so gracefully off of one of the trees that breached the orchard grounds area. She rung it convincingly.

"SOUP'S ON EVERYPONY!"

With a large burst of action, Applejack grabbed Sunrise's hoof and dragged her all the way towards the picnic area, directly beside and under the farm's gazebo. "Why don't I officially introduce you to the Apple family!" Applejack order her family and cousins in line. "You know me, of course. This here's Apple Fritter, here's Apple Bumpkin, Red Gala, Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Caramel Apple, Uncle Apple Strudel, Apple Tart, Baked Apple, Apple Parfait, Apple Brioche, Apple Cinnamon Crisp," Applejack took a deep breathe, "Apple Cider, Pink Lady, Apple Brown Betty, Ruby Rhubarb, Apple Dumpling, Apple Cobbler," Applejack exhaled and breathed in deep again. "Here's Braeburn, my brother Big Macintosh, my little sis Apple Bloom, and the best but not least, Granny Smith!" Out of the no where, a brown and white border collie ran up and licked Sunrise. "And of course, you already know Winona. Heh, heh, I think she likes you a lot." Applejack found one of the finest apples which was lying around waiting to be eaten, and shoved it into Sunrise's mouth. She smiled and sat back in pride of her family. "How do you like them apples?"

Apple Bumpkin grinned massively as Apple Bloom yelled her name and gave her such a warm welcome. She was so excited to see all of her family around that it was making her giddy with energy as she started to prance in place with a huge aura of happiness around her. There was no stopping her feeling good now no matter what in the world you tried.

" 'Ah'm so glad ta be back here! 'Ah missed thisn farm so darn much ever since that whole Winter Wrap Up fun that we had around these parts! 'Ah'm goin ta have'ta come back fer that next time round!" She was grinning uncontrollably now and she was hoping that her excitement would soon become contagious unless it already was. She was so happy to see her family ranging all the way from Apple Bloom, Apple Jack, Big Mac, Braeburn, Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Granny Smith, Uncle Apple Strudel, even her own sister Caramel Apple was here and enjoying herself a ton even though she just stepped off the train moments ago. " 'Ah wonder what we will be doin this time round here on the farm 'Ah did like the dance'n and food that we did last time, but 'Ah don't think Twilight will be staying for brunch this time." She giggled as she recalled the last time that Apple Bloom used her charm to make Twilight Sparkle and Spike stay for the lunch. Good times were sure to be had around the farm no matter what happened even if other ponies were around, it just made it that much more exciting to be able to flaunt her family around and boast about her sales skills.

" 'Ah love mah Apple Family so darn much that words can't describe yall!" She almost screamed out with glee as she flipped her mane out of her face and adjusted her hoofkerchief. She turned and observed Bushwhack being his normal self and giggled at him as she curtised to Red Delicious.

"Nice ta see ya made it! Mah sister is round here at somepart and there are others here too! Non-Apples even!" She was happy to talk with everypony that was invited to the Reunion even if they were not Apple Family members.

In the background, Braeburn could hear the familiar, off kilter sounds from his great uncle's tuba playing and the familiar chatter of his many relatives, smell the sweet scents of various apple themed delights; he had arrived just on time! The familiar feel of the traditional Apple clan reunion was ever so welcoming.

Before he could go any further with his greeting to his cousin Applejack's acknowledgement, a small yellow and red ball of energy skidded to an adorable stop in front of him. "COUSIN APPLEBLOOM!! Howdy!!!" Braeburn gave a great big, bright smile. He was always so happy to see his kid cousin. "My oh my, how big y'all have gotten in th' past couple years! A real fine young filly y'all are growin' inta!"

He gave Apple Bloom a reassuring hug. "Well, Ah'll tell y'all what, Abby, things have been really exciting down on good ol' AAAAAPPLELOOSA! Let me tell you what! There was the whole issue with the Buffalo and their stampeding grounds, that almost resulted in a giant stampede in the vey heart of AAAAAPPLELOOSA! Then there was the whole hubub with the new railroads they want to build in town, and the recent issue with those thieving gangs of ponies in the desert, and the diamond dogs caught trying to dig under one of the farms ... OH! Then there is the ghost tale! Ayup, met me some real live - well, not live, that's the point of a ghost, but y'all know what ah mean - real live, spooky, dangerous lantern ghosts, let me tell you-"

Braeburn's eager story was cut off prematurely by Applejack's raised voice getting his attention. "Now, now, cousin Applejack, no need to shout! Y'all could have just asked me to stop all polite-like. Y'all should rightly work on that, y'know?" Braeburn gave her a playful wink. Bantering and poking fun was all part of the event, after all! "Ah'd have thought all that time y'all spent gettin' fancied up in that spa woulda taught y'all some fancy manners, too!"

Braeburn turned around to look for the guest AJ had mentioned - a green hued pegasus mare with a blue mane. Braeburn gave a warm smile, removing his Stetson with his forehoof and holding it to the front of his chest. "Well, hello thar! Mah name's Braeburn, all the way from sweet AAAAAPPLELOOSA!" As the familiar ringing triangle sounded across Sweet Apple Acres, he offered her his hoof. "Might ah escort y'all in t'meet our family, an' learn yer name?"

Apple Cinnamon stepped off the train, carrying her fiddle case. It was a long trip from Appleoosa, but worth it. She hadn't seen much of her kin. The only one she roughly knew was Braeburn who was a cousin or something like that. She could never get it straight.

As she came closer, she began to hear the party starting already and seeing a crowd of ponies there. It was time to give a proper entrance.

She set down her case and opening it pulled out her old fiddle with the name "Melody" carved in it. Hooking the case to her side, she began to play a fast fiddle as she made her way into the area where the party was.

Sunrise stood there amongst the various Apples who ignored her greeting and she lowered her hoof and began to frown. She then heard a familiar voice and turned to see that Applejack had noticed her arrival to the farm and had grabbed her by the hoof and dragged her to the picnic area to introduce her to the whole family! As the family got all in order and she began to rattle off the names of her relatives like a ragman's roll, Sunrise's smile returned and replied before the apple was shoved into her mouth, "Hello, I am Ponyville's dentist, Sunrise Wisp and I know Applejack from when Valen spent a month here at the Acres. It's a pleasure to meet you all and I will enjoy getting to know every last one of you!". She looked down at Winona and gave her a pat on the head with her hoof before swallowing the apple and replying, "That was an excellent apple!".

Sunrise smiled at the stallion who had removed his hat and greeted her first before giving her reply, "A pleasure to meet you Braeburn, and I thank you for the welcome!". She accepted the offered hoof and replied to his query, "Yes you may and the name is Sunrise Wisp, and I am Ponyville's dentist. How is living in Appleloosa? I've heard that it can be very difficult at times...". She trailed off unsure of how to proceed with the conversation. The smell of the food was making her mouth water and her stomach to rumble as she looked at Braeburn and Applejack before saying with a grin, "I brought something for the picnic as well, I hope that is okay." The smell of the banana bread was wafting from her saddlebags and she wondered what the Apple family would think of the taste.

Lady had been a touch late, but had arrived in time to see the stranger that was there and to hear herself get introduced along with the rest of the Celestia knows howmany Apples! She was wearing a very nice white bonnet with china blue patterns on it with a ribbon of the same color going under her chin, she would have spoken however she had a basket in her mouth, of which she sat on the picnic table; The basket was loaded with her delicious dried goodies, as well as some Pink Lady apple preserves.

Once she had her mouth free she smiled and walked over batting her eye lashes at the stranger that said they were a doctor "Well howdy there darlin, I'm just pleased as punch to meet a fine mare like yourself" She winked at her before glancing at AppleJack and gave her family member a hug "And AppleJack! Good to see you!" The hug didn't last for too long as Lady had other family to meet, one particular !

"AppleBloom!!" She exclaimed, seeing Her favorite little cousin! she grinned giving her a big ol hug, Lady had a huge soft spot for Applebloom, she was her youngest cousin and she just loved the girls spunk and talent, knowing the pain of being the last blank flank in class.

RedDelicious.jpg

Red Delicious grinned as he received affection from little AppleBloom, "Is good to see you wee bloom!" He chuckled as she called him "Reddy" It was a personal nickname that made the soft yellow pony grin wide, Bushwack seemed to like the hoof scritch because he followed after AppleBloom climbing up on her head and got situated between her bow.

The familiar ring of a tuba could be heard and Red's whole face lit up as he bolted towards it "Grandpa Strudel!" He called out moving to hug his dear Grandfather tightly! Why they were as close as anything, which was abundantly clear by the accent that Red sported "I have missed you so much!"

Although he wasn't socially awkward or uncomfortable, Golden Delicious thought of himself as a bit bland to others. His main conversation topics consisted of either talking about science or talking about geeky stuff, doubtfully the usual topics for Apples.

Out of nowhere he was 'assaulted' by Applebloom, but before he could answer she managed to dash off elsewhere. He smiled slightly. It felt pretty good to see all of the family members full of energy. He did however note that Applebloom still lacked a cutie mark, and in his mind, he could easily see her as his assistant. Perhaps one day he'd propose science to her.

The word 'dentist' passed his ear, and he rejoiced. Dentists were, undoubtedly, connected with science. He may not be able to talk far into physics with Sunrise Wisp, but in the field of biology she hopefully has knowledge extensive enough for Golden to strike up a conversation. Thus, he walked up to her.

"Howday Ms. Wisp. Pl'sure to meet you. I'm Golden Delicious, as you've been told, and I am a scientist workin' in th' field of biologay. As much as I focus on apple growin', I hope I can learn somethin' 'bout dentistray and become mightay fine 'quaintances with you." said Golden. He reached out to Sunrise with one of his overgrown golden delicious apples and sniffed the air, "Oh, do I smell b'nanas?"

Braeburn smiled happily - the food was all being put out, the music was playing, and introductions were made - the reunion had officially began! As he escorted the pegasus mare to one of the large picnic tables, he directed that smile to her while he listened attentively. "Well, Ah'm right tickled to hear you came back to the farm for another visit! And at such a wonderful time, too - there's nothing in all of Equestria like the Apple Family Reunions, and we love guests! Ah hope y'all came hungry, cause if there's one thing the Apple Family loves t'do, it's fill y'all with the finest vittles." He gave a proud grin. "We have the biggest, rowdiest, most hootin' parties in all of Equestria!"

Of course Braeburn's ears perked and eyes lit up when Sunrise inquired about his hometown. "Living in good ol' APPPPPPLEOOOSA is nothing' short of an adventure! Ah mean, right enough, it can be difficult, but we all knew that when we first settled those dry plains couple years back. They said having a new settlement on the edge of the desert was impossible, but we proved all the neeeeighsayers wrong! Now we have beautiful apple orchards everywhere!" Braeburn beamed brightly - boasting about Appleoosa wasn't being a braggart, it was pride justified by overcoming the odds. "Ah'll just say that my orchard's the purdiest of them all, but Ah reckon every farmer will tell y'all the same. Nothin' makes somethin' shine like knowin' the hard work y'all put in."

Braeburn lifted his muzzle and gave a practiced sniff at the whiff of pleasing, sweet aroma coming from the dentist's bags. "But it smells like y'all brought your own vittles, too! Don't seem t'be apples, but it sure does seem sweet!" He leaned in closer to Sunrise as if he was going to tell a secret. "Ah brought a stack ah stuff from back home, but it's not just apple recipes. Ah'm hopin' t'give 'em all a right surprise! Th' whole town helped make what ah brought, after all." Braeburn gave a friendly and conspiratorial wink.

Braeburn wasn't as familiar with Golden Delicious, being a more distant cousin from around Fillydelphia, but he was family, and that was all that mattered. "Well, howdy cousin Golden! Greetings all the way from AAAAAAPPLELOOSA!!" Braeburn rearing back gleefully in pronouncing once again where he was from; he never grew sick of that.

As Apple Cinnamon approached the gate she stopped playing and saw the ponies who had shown up. She knew that all of them were members of the Apple Family, but she didn't know how exactly. AC felt sad that she hadn't been intouch much with her large extended family. This hopefully would be her chance.

"Well howdy there everypony," she said loudly, hoping that a pony would recognize her.

With a huge grin Apple Bumpkin looked about, she loved spending time with her family and this was one of her most favorite events was the reunion.

" 'Ah just hope that we can have as much fun as last year, if'n not more!" She set her eyes on Apple Bloom and tried to part the seas of Apple Family and other ponies as she made her way over to her.

"Howdy Apple Bloom, did ya'll invite yer two friends here as well or are ya here ta spend time away from them." She giggled a bit as she looked about to make sure that they were no where to be found. That one small pony, Sweetie Belle, was most likely one of the few other foals that Apple Bloom actually had an attention span for. She was in fact one of the few non-Apple Family ponies that she enjoyed just being around and talking with. That list also included Cheerilee and a few others who Apple Bumpkin could tell you but would have to think on it for a moment. She wanted to drag Apple Bloom away or to the side so that they could play a game of horse shoes but it seemed like everypony wanted to talk to Apple Bloom today, but she was one of them so it wasn't much her place to complain. Apple Bumpkin would endure until the chance to keep Apple Bloom for herself would come. (Insert evil laughter here)

"When ya'll are free, 'Ah wanted ta play a game a Horse Shoes with ya! Unless ya'll'd rather just hang out with the family and shoot the breeze." She giggled again not knowing why but Apple Bloom always brought out the best in her no matter the situation.

AppleBloomATTEMPT3final.png

Applejack was simply too big a pony for the little Bloom to reasonably be able to dodge, especially since the mare was a bit faster than her. She struggled for a mere moment before her sister soothed her excited soul with her playful wink. It was amazing how such a simple action from her big sister could get Apple Bloom back in tow. Maybe Applejack was secretly a unicorn and she was casting soothe spells on her! That'd be pretty startling revelation. Regardless, Applejack soon rang the triangle and started introducing Sunrise to everypony in the family.

And what a family!

There was Braeburn, whose story about Appleloosa had wrapped up the filly's attention span entirely. Sadly, he had been cut short by Applejack. She had every intention of allowing her excitable cousin the time to be himself and tell his very long, very exciting, many worded story. In that way he was the most like Apple Bloom, and she believed that they could stare and talk at one another all day long and still only have finished one story each. It wouldn't ever get boring, not with Braeburn. And that's why she loved him.

Then you couldn't forget about Apple Bumpkin. She might have been a mare but she sure did act like a filly no older than Apple Bloom's age, with her tone and teh way she spoke being so forward and filly-like. Playing with her was like playing with Sweetie Belle or Scootaloo, and her attitude was so charmingly earnest about it that Apple Bloom felt more than terrible as she had to deny her desire to play right at that time. There were things she had to do first; even reunions had plans!

"Nah, nawt right naw Bumpkin. Gotta get everypony all fed and such! Then we can play! And naw, mah friends ain't comin'. This is a day jus' for mah family," She squeaked in response, giving her own Applejack trademarked wink. Apple Bloom loved her cousin dearly and felt a certain great tug to her, but felt tied to Applejack briefly to help her do what needed to be done.

"Here's Braeburn, my brother Big Macintosh, my little sis Apple Bloom, and the best but not least, Granny Smith!"

Apple Bloom beamed widely, her eyes filled with some sort of instant-cute fluid instead of water that made her eyes seemingly shimmer as she looked at Sunrise. She knew the dentist well enough to know that any foal, filly, or colt had to have work done, they went to Sunrise. Nopony she knew of was as good with little ones as she and she made dental work...tolerable. No one could make it fun. Still though, she was happy to see her here, even if her apple connection was tangential at best.

Reddy was fun to have around, his accent charming as it was different enough to be pointed out. She didn't see him all often but if Bushwack was any indication, it was a good thing he arrived. Bushwack was cuddling into her bow, Apple Bloom feeling the warmth of the critter as it was tight around the bow. She had no problem allowing Bushy to stay in for as long as his adorableness could be contained.

Pink Lady's hugs were well-renown for how tight they were. If Apple Bloom had been some weak unicorn or fragile pegasus, it would have been an issue but since she was a sturdy Earth pony she could handle Pink's extra tight hugs. She returned it as best she could, making a note that her devastatingly high tone would set the tone for everyone else later. She gave her Pink Lady a peck on the cheek as she was let down and returned to Applejack's side.

Golden Delicious was golden in many ways. Not only was he kind and well-read, which Applejack always told Apple Bloom was quite the achievement, but also because he always seemed to have something going on behind those eyes of his. Apple Bloom liked it because that meant there was something mysterious about him and she liked mysterious. Of course it was less him being mysterious and more her mind really flying around everypony in an attempt to...well, it was just flying around. She was so excited!

The filly tapped Applejack on the leg, and she didn't know if it was once or fifty times. It was likely somewhere in between.

"When do we set ou' tha food for everypony, sis? Need any help?!" She asked, fully turning to face her sister with her wide beaming smile setting out.

"Alrighty everypony! Look like it's time fer-" Apple Bloom interrupted Applejack with her question about setting up the food. "Yes, Apple Bloom. If in ya let me finish. Looks like it's time for the feasting and the gaming! We got lots of food already set out on the tables, several barrels of each kind of apple we have here on the farm, and a table specifically for deserts. Go ahead and eat up! AND! Let's open up our games too! He have two sets of horseshoe stakes, please be careful when throwin' them, heh. We got a barrel for apple bobbin', and we even got a pinata in the back there for any youngest that want to try to take a swing blindfolded." Applejack announced her events as plainly as she could. There need not be any rhyme or reason. This was the apple family reunion. "Now let's get partyin'!"

Applejack looked at Sunrise as she revealed that she had brought some banana bread for the gathering. "Oh, banana bread?" Applejack wasn't really sure how to react. After all, she couldn't recollect if she had ever had a banana in her entire life. Sure she had heard of them, but they don't really grow naturally in the Ponyville area. "Wow, that's cool. Um, you can put it on the desert table if you'd like."

In the corner of Applejack's eye, she saw a light brown pony with large red hair approach the group. Applejack had sounded off all of the ponies names that she could remember where there. But she didn't know who this pony was. They were obviously a apple pony. Applejack could give herself a lot of credit for how many relatives she knew by name, but the family was just too big for even her to remember everypony. As she walked up to meet her, the pony started playing a fiddle, and it reminded Applejack. "Oh yeah!" Quickly, Applejack went inside the carrot cottage and brought out her own fiddle. Applejack wasn't the best at playing the violin, but she knew the basics. "Almost forgot everypony! We need music! Everypony dance!" With a stroke of motivation, Applejack started playing her fiddle next to Apple Cinnamon's, playing background to the strokes of the more experienced player.

GrannySmith1WithText.png

After greeting her brother, Granny Smith walked back with him towards the picnic area. The walk took considerable time due to the elderly mare's slow hoof walking speed. When they returned and heard AppleJack's welcoming speech, the lime green mare went into action. She walked from table to table, that had big tableclothes covering them and pulled each one up with her teeth, revealing all the food she had placed on them previously. Granny Smith was a 'seasoned veteran' of Apple Family reunions, so she knew how to be properly prepared to serve such a large group of ponies.

"SOUPS ON, EVERYPONY!" she shouted, banging two pans together between her front legs to 'announce' it.

"RED! MEIN GRANDSON!" Apple Strudel shouted as the bearded stallion rushed over to hug him. "It is SO vonderba to see you again! I hope your journey here vas a happy vone und..."

Suddenly, Apple Strudel's face brightened when he heard AppleJack's call for music.

"Please excuse me, Red, dere is a call for music und I as a good Apple Family member must respond!" Apple Strudel shouted, rushing over to his tuba.

"VONDERBA! IT'S TUBA TIME!" the bearded stallion shouted as he put his tuba on and began playing "OOOMMMPPPAAAHHH, OOOOMMMMPPPPAAAAAHHHH!" repeatedly while tapping his front hoof to the music. The sound of the tuba once more stirred up the birds and other animals on the farm.

Red grinned from ear to ear hearing his favorite instruments playing, and grabbed the nearest Partner he could find, his cousin Gold Delicious and started to dance 'Cmon Goldeh! Dance with me now jah?!" he exclaimed as he forced his poor cousin into a Polka dance with him, having the time of his life swaying and stomping his hooves to the merry and giddy tunes of a Tuba combined with the hoof tapping beats of Cousin AppleJack and Apple Cinnamon's Fiddles "This is deh life jah?" It was the most fun he'd had all WEEK!

Bushwack stayed comfortably contained on AppleBloom's bow letting out his cute barking noises on occasion, though yawned nestling into the pony's mane... jerking up in surprise at the sound of a Tuba and growled hopping onto the ground near Bloom's hooves starting to 'Bark" in Uncle Strudel's direction .

Lady smiled as she received a kiss on the cheek from AppleBloom during their hug, and let her go so she could do the family stuff that she had to do due to being a hostess. Lady was glad to hear that the food was ready and went over to take a delicious smelling slice of banana bread, and smeared it with some of her delicious apple jam she had brought with her, and munched it happily "My goodness this is the best banana bread I have ever tasted!"

She glanced at Sunrise and smiled at her "My dear did you bake this? This would be just the perfect thing for my bakery back home! I'd love to do business with you if you were interested?"

Her eyes caught sight of Red forcing poor Gold to Polka like a fool and she snickered "Oh my goodness what a sight..." As of currently they were the only two dancing..
