That made me smile. I needed that.

But apparently I can't make clever metaphors in 90 degree heat. Anyway, she tolerates the brony as a concept, barely. On record saying she doesn't understand it. Fine. Whatever. But that negativity influences how a grown man spents his own petty cash. It's a hard and unmoving "no" on any merchandise, period. Everything I own has been bought either behind her back, or with her because it's a 3 dollar blind bag. This also means no BroNYcon.

You're Welcome glad I could make you feel better.

Oh yes, I remember the situation when you bought that Twi balloon. I thought you two got past that and you got her to watch some episodes? Bah.

Oh well I hope that woman will turn around someday after all it's been nearly a year since I became a brony and I never thought that I would like or watch a My Little Pony cartoon.

Only one of my friends was like that. I say was because he's pretty much cut all communication with me. :( He would get upset if I hummed the theme or even said a name. He even got mad because I wrapped my headphones in craft string (unknowingly) in twilight colors. Funny thing, he actually watched the show once and said it had good animation. Luckily, two of my friends were actually closet bronies (one even brought her Rarity and Celestia toys to school). One other actually tried watching the show (and even got caught by his cousin! XD) and while not a brony, will post something pony related.

Apart from my Canterlot friends, none of my friends like ponies, but I've only really got one anti pony friend. At the mention of "that's so funny I forgot to laugh" or even just speaking like rainbow dash and scootaloo out of boredom, she actually SCREAMS (like a banshee) and punches me (generally in the arm) I think it's cos when she was younger her sister forced her to watch every episode and movie of first generation a hundred times.

I still don't understand people labeling people, I mean, an Anti virus is a medicine or a computer program that kills virus. Friends that kill Bronies? Nopey nope...

I could understand that "Anti" suddenly means an opposition force, like a watered down 'Contras' Anyways, I don't mix with people being quaint enougth to do that.

lol my husband was just kind of *shakes head* and ignored it. Then I started watching it with him and now he watches it with me and likes rainbow dash, but I can't tell his buds lol. I do tell most of my friends to watch it, or I show them drawings and they tend to just kind of say ok you're wierd.

But I've converted a few friends to at least trying it. My friend who collects Monster HIgh dolls and Tinkerbell now really wants to watch it.

But I have some friends who are just like no, I cant believe you watch that. You're going to turn into one of "them".

I also was over at my sister's and was drawing ponies for my 6 year old niece and all of her friends that were over. One of the other moms was like "Wow, you actually know the ponies that they're asking for???" and I was like "Uh...yah...I watch the show..." and she was just kind of like "Errr........." and she walked off.

As ar as my freinds go, many of them accept it, and a few of them with give it a chance. One refuses to watch it, and tells me he dosen't like it, but he isn't what i would call an 'anti brony' however, not a friend, but one person completely stopped talking to me because i like ponies.

Considering most of my friends have children? Yeah. They're pretty much all anti-brony. They know that nothing they say to me will make any difference though, so mostly they just accept it, rolling their eyes.

The impact of others' judgments is all in how you receive it. Decide you could care less about their opinions about your hobbies likes/dislikes and your life, in general, becomes much better. As long as you don't lose the ability to talk about things outside the fandom relentlessly to people who don't want to hear about it, you're fine. You cringe and get all butthurt when people give you lip about it, then you're opening yourself up to having more scorn thrown at you, because then people think that you know there's something "wrong" with your hobby and will encourage you to drop it.

For example, I collect horrible knockoff ponies. I used to get weird looks and flak for it. Now I don't because I knowledge that it's a rather unique hobby, and anyone says anything about it I just shrug and say it amuses me. Apathy will shut people up faster than argument or emotional response.

That made me smile. I needed that.

Uncool. Surely there's some stupid thing she like to indulge in that makes you roll your eyes. Everyone should have their own little personal space for things they like, even if it's just a small wallshelf or a binder. No matter how stupid that hobby is (unless it's illegal or REALLY questionable. I'd draw the line at kiddie porn , semi-automatic weapons or drug collections)

I do not know what I would do if my husband and I didn't have separate "fun money" bank accounts. We'd both be miserable. The only restriction is "you have to have a place for it", although I think my toys are beginning to drive him insane so some might have to go into storage.

Man, I wish I had some brony friends outside of the internet! Y'all are great friends here, but as of now, the friends I've seen face-to-face don't know my brony awesomeness. I really don't know what my friends would do if they found out I was a brony... :P

Maybe they'll turn around someday soon.

Whatever you do do NOT force bronysm on your friends, if you bring it up and they don't seem interested Don't push them that makes YOU a horrible friend >(

Yeah don't do that all though maybe you should slowly introduce them to it maybe start by showing them fan made videos or pmvs before the actual show.

I have a few brony friends. One has kinda drifted away from just talking about stuff from it but is still a huge fan. One is as excited about it as me. And the last isn't really a fan but loves Big Mac. I also have a friend who despises the show completely. I don't really see why but still. It kinda bugs me when I talk about some things that have meaning that relate to MLP and he doesn't care and tells me this.

I'm pretty sure my friends wouldn't understand, even though I've been labeled as "the nerdy one". MLP just seems a bit too...extreme I think for a lot of people, because it's labeled as a kid's girl's show and there's nothing 'adult' about it. I mean, we can see the subtle references that are obviously in there for more mature audiences, and we've grown to love and understand the characters. But all the general public sees is

:Flutter::TSparkle: <3FRIENDSHIP is MAGIC <3 :TSparkle::Flutter:

Every fandom goes through this kind of discrimination, but bronies are a new breed because they're breaking one of the biggest social stigmas in American society: gender association. It's pink, it's got ponies, it's for girls under the age of 7. Whaaa? Grown men watch this? DEVIANCE!!!

Bronies, I tip my bow to you, for your courage and pride in supporting something that you believe is of genuine worth, despite its candy colored packaging(or perhaps partly because of its candy colored packaging ;) )

oh yeah and us pegasisters don't have it any easier. For whatever reason, even in a world where Hello Kitty and Disney Princesses reign supreme, you mention MLP and you get stares, eye rolls, even shunned*

*these are reactions from non-nerds, mind you. Rather, girls who like to call themselves nerds because they know who R2-D2 is and they think it's cute to pull out that kind of 'trivia'.
