  2. I have a question for everyone, Am I the only one that squealed when they saw a little Twilight Sparkle?

    6410%20-%20animated%20twilight_sparkle.gif

    She tries so hard.

This scene just cracked me up. And Twilight bouncing with happiness! Oh, Twilight. ILU, you silly pony. =)

    There are no words ;3;

    there just arent.

These ponies remind me of my innocence, one episode at a time. Oh how I have missed it. <3

    Thank you Faust!

This! Mrs. Faust and every single person on her team have done a brilliant job on the series. It wouldn't be the same without the same voice actors, music, sound effects, animators, just...every little thing is superb! :P

I...thought I had lost my innocence. It's nice to know it's still there--it has always been there--it's just been in hiding. It's such a wonderful feeling to watch a cartoon--and indeed, look at the world--with a sense of joy and awe again.

  3. My first impression: HNNNNNNG

My thoughts on this, after giving it some thought--and a couple of viewings: HNNNNNNNNNNNNNG

SO ADORABLE! I loved this, so much! This is definitely above Celestia Tier. =D

Filly Applejack was so cute. And Lil' Macintosh. D'AWWWW. When AJ forlornly says "Cockle doodle doo", it made me want to hug her. I LOVED the little freckles across her face. SO CUTE.

I LOVED filly Fluttershy! She was just so adorable! (And I've also seen actual young horses and ponies--the can be quite gangly!) I think it just adds her her clumsiness. She was already freaking adorable...then she starts SINGING. HNNNNNNG

Filly Rarity was just cute. I love how she looked SO UNIMPRESSED while her horn was dragging her across the landscape. Her little temper tantrum was just...heehee! SO cute.

And Twilight as a filly. OMG. I loved this, SO MUCH. So freaking epic. Even as a filly it's a great example of how extremely potent Twilight's magic is. And I LOVE HER EXPRESSIONS. Twilight bouncing for joy was just...HNNNNNG

I did not expect Pinkie Pie's story at all. I love how she ends it with:

PINKIE PIE: "...and that's how Equestria was made!"

    SCOOTALOO: "...wha-huh?"

    APPLE BLOOM: "Look! We're here!"

PINKIE PIE: "Maybe on the way home I can tell you the story about my Cutie Mark!"

Oh Pinkie. You are so random!

Rainbow Dash's story was really cool! I just loved her face after she made a Sonic Rainboom. :P

    GROUP HUGS!

About the moral: it's true! It's funny how much of a connection you can make with future friends. Seemingly disparate experiences can overlap in really unexpected and amazing ways! =)

  4. I thought of something that would be great for the Cutie Mark Crusaders!

Delerium - Aria (as performed by the Mediaeval Baebes)

    Middle English Lyrics

    E have a wist, sin e couthe I meen

The children hath by candle leet

    E have a wist, sin e couthe I meen

The children hath by candle leet

Bisy abouta, they han, they han ben

And whom they catchen it best wolde wen

    Modern English Translation

Ever since I could remember, I have known

    That children by candle light

Ever since I could remember, I have known

    That children by candle light

Have seen a shadow on the wall

And have chased it all night through.

    Busily they have tried

With all their might to catch it.

And when they most expect to catch it

It shoots most quickly out of sight,

This shadow never shall be caught

    In any trap they lay.

    This shadow in the likeness

    Of this world and yesterday.

    Busily they have tried

With all their might to catch it.

Ever since I could remember, I have known

    That children by candle light

Have seen a shadow on the wall

And have chased it all night through.

    Busily they have tried

With all their might to catch it.

    Busily they have tried

With all their might to catch it.

  5. I really love this episode! There really hasn't been an episode I haven't liked! And really, any episode starring Fluttershy is always adorable. I just want to hug her, is that so wrong? ^^

I always enjoy watching the live streams of the episodes. The quality tends to be crap, but the reactions of fellow bronies are just precious.

Early on, we decided the princess' bird was not a Phoenix, but a Derpix.

Also, when the Princess' guards showed up to Fluttershy's cottage multiple bronies said, "STOP RIGHT THERE CRIMINAL SCUM!" I thought it was funny. XD

Poor Fluttershy. That face at the end could melt the coldest heart.

Also, Twilight should never be allowed to handle anything living.

Yes, this! Watching Fluttershy cry has to be one of the most heart-breaking things one could ever witness. :C

I dunno. I think Twilight was actually being decent with animals. I know cats and dogs can really put up a fight as far as taking medicine goes. I used to own a cat that got really, really good at spitting out pills or liquid medicine. We'd have to hold him in all kinds of creative positions and stick the medicine pretty far back in his throat for him to swallow it.

I think Twilight was actually being pretty good about the animals, having taken care of some really sick ones of my own.

  6. (EDIT: Oops, for forgot one of this answers!)

The supervising director of MLP:FiM came to visit PonyChan! (There was a bit of doubt, but it was in fact confirmed to be him via his Twitter account.)

Because this was an epic and memorable thread, it has been put in "Twilight's Library", PonyChan's archive. :)

You can find the thread here:

    http://www.ponychan.net/chan/arch/res/6286.html

The thread started with him saying this:

i'm the supervising director of the show and I just wanted to say hi to you guys and that all of us on the production team really love the enthusiasm and excitement you have for the show. We work hard to bring you the best ponies we can and your response has been incredible! It really makes it worthwhile and exciting for us. I love all the great macros and fan art, I save the best ones for my desktop.

thanks to all for your support and feedback!

sorry for the sappy post, but I mean it.

He also fielded a couple questions throughout the thread, such as Derpy's origin. (Also, the board wordfilters "someone" and "somebody" to "somepony")

derpy truly came from the fans... some cheeky animator stuck her in the BG with her eyes weird.. i saw it but left it in cuz it made me chuckle (and hasbro didnt catch it) then i couldn't believe it when somepony pointed her out . we loved the response so much that when we were finalizing the episodes, whenever we would catch the grey pony in the BG I'd call for a revision on her eyes to make them DERP. thats why you don't see them crossed again until several episodes in... we had finished a bunch before she was born. we did it without Lauren's blessing actually and i was a bit aprehensive how she would react. but she loved it and Derpy remains.

He had this to say about working with the voice team:

i love the voice team. i couldnt have asked for a more awesome bunch! ashleigh ball has a band called "hey ocean" check it out. you can see what she looks like.

Tabitha (rarity) is a total goof, and she always has cookies. its always fun to record them. we sometimes get pickups when a read is a bit off from what the drawings are or if we change something or there's a clarity issue.

Mods were still trying to figure out whether Jayson was legit at this point, and it didn't seem Jayson knew his way around *chans too well. Someone had asked him who voiced the mule in Ep. 4:

yes i'm a chan dummy. none taken. (by the way, the voice of the mule in episode 4 is the co-director James Wootton... we call him Wootie)

People of course asked about upcoming stuff:

i don't want to give too much away about whats upcoming. i could get in trouble.... it happened to our composer already... when that happened all hell broke loose. it was fun to see how fast the winter wrap up song exploded on the internet. its hard to keep up with the ponytrain. thanks again all! i'll be around...

To set people at ease about the composer:

Daniel (the song composer) did not get in trouble.. its all good.

His final thoughts before parting ways:

when i was first approached to direct MLP i was harshly skeptical. but once i saw that what Lauren had done with the property i was hooked.

i vowed to make sure the show was made properly entertaining... but i am not taking all the credit. its a collaborative effort. Lauren wrote great characters and created this world. the writers, storyboard artists, designers, layout, animators, music, score, sound fx, voice.. it has to all come together and become one. and everypony at every stage has put their love and blood sweat and tears into it.

listen to me.. i sound like i'm giving an acceptance speach.... geez. ok i'll go now. i'm supposed to be reviewing a storyboard...

    thanks again!

Every interaction with every member of the production crew has been so positive. I've already had heaps of respect and love for the guys who put together the show, but the fact that members of the production team are willing to so publicly give their thanks and supports is absolutely HUGE! I love those guys even more than I did before.

What's more, I love how very warm and friendly PonyChan was. We didn't know if he was a troll (which is filtered to "parasprite" on the image board), but I loved how we welcomed him anyway. It was a truly beautiful thing to see so much genuine and heartfelt thanks come from everyone. =)

  7. There is also iTunes, which updates on Saturdays. It's only $0.99 a rental, and $2.99 to buy an episode. Unfortunately it's only available within the U.S., for now. I imagine the episodes will be available there once Hasbro starts broadcasting the show in other countries.

  8. I love the intro! Applejack loves her trees so much. The fact that she named it Bloomburg was just hilarious. I love that the other ponies and Spike called it Bloomburg, too. XD

Rarity was whining a bit, but you may notice she didn't get what she wanted with it. I think Rarity is just used to the finer things in life; she can get a bit fussy at times. I think it's consistent with her character. I still love her, though!

I loved the entire dialog the ponies had in the dark! XD

Brayburn was great. I loved all the puns. Horse-Drawn Carriages, Horse-Drawn-Horse-Drawn Carriages, Wild West Dancing, Mild West Dancing. So many puns. So silly! =)

I do like how they handled the Buffalo. Lauren Faust said they had make revisions according to a Native American consultant's notes. It's funny how the daughter(?) of the chieftain and Brayburn were already willing to talk with each other, but AJ and Rainbow Dash got into a hot-headed fight with each other. (I can totally see that happening with those too, especially after Fall Weather friends. I have some friends who are fiercely competitive with each other, but don't let that get in the way of their friendship.)

And Pinkie Pie's song. It's not awesome but I CAN'T STOP LISTENING TO IT. @_@ And that outfit, haha!

    pinkiepiewereallvegetar.png

It's actually kind of nice to see Pinkie Pie not save the day in this episode. She just made things worse! I think it actually helps her as a character. Nopony can be right all the time. :D

    That epic pie fight. XD

Overall it wasn't the best episode at all, but certainly not the worst. I can't think of an episode that didn't make me smile or laugh. I'd still call it a success. :D

I'll be honest. I was hoping for a lot more screen time with Applejack. I kind of wanted the main cast to be more involved in resolving the issue of the episode, but I'm thinking maybe that was one of the revisions the Native American consultant had suggested. Rather than have the decision made for the buffalo, the buffalo themselves came up with the resolution. I don't have a problem with that in and of itself, mind you. It makes sense. :)

  9. Hello everypony!

Most every brony out there has heard and fallen in love with the wonderful songs on MLP:FiM. You can thank Daniel Ingram for all his hard work! Equestria Daily has posted an interview they had with him:

    http://www.equestriadaily.com/2011/03/d ... rived.html

One thing that caught my eye was this:

    17. Quick fun one: do you have a favorite song you've written for MLP? "All of them!" is an answer, but it's not too satisfying to hear, haha. If it's an as-yet-unaired song, got any hints so we can keep our ears open?

Well there are some really special things on the horizon. My favorite song for Season 1 hasn't aired yet, but you'll know it when you hear it because it's pretty epic. I recorded a 20-person choir in Bryan Adam's studio for this particular number, and every lead pony gets a solo. I also always liked the Laughter Song from the first episode, since that's what started it all. I actually play that one on my acoustic guitar from time to time and it makes for a pretty good unplugged version!

All I have to say ohmygoshohmygoshohmygoshohmygoshohmygoshOHMYGOSHOHMYGOSHOHMYGOSH!!!

  10. I also really, really, REALLY don't want Hasbro to change MLP:FiM so that it appeals to an adult audience. In my honest opinion, changing the show would completely ruin the feel of it. I like it just as it is.

Incidentally, when writing Hasbro for anything, I do mention how the show has a great story, awesome characters, and how it has a universal appeal to people of all ages. Kids and adults of all ages find a lot to love in the show. It's a great show that a family can enjoy together! I try to avoid bias in saying "adult men" because that's unfair to the adult women who also love the show. (HI ASHI!) I also really DO think it sends a very powerful and very positive message to young girls. The world NEEDS more shows like this!

  11. I'm pretty sure that The Hub has an existing agreement with Hasbro. As far as I can tell, The Hub seems to only broadcast within the United States. Thus, it would make sense for Hasbro to make another agreement with a network that broadcasts internationally. Also, according to Lauren the show is "doing well" ratings-wise on The Hub. I can't see how The Hub would even be remotely interested in dropping a popular show. So basically I'm guessing The Hub would keep broadcasting MLP:FiM, and CN would broadcast it everywhere else.

Should it broadcast on Cartoon Network (internationally), I don't think it will be showing on Adult Swim. Even though it seems there are plenty of adults who watch the show, it's important to remember that the primary demographic doesn't really use the Internet (or isn't allowed to anyway). I can imagine this show is really fun to watch for young kids, too! (I wouldn't be surprised at all to see a LOT of MLP-inspired art styles from very young artists in the next several years..) I think putting it on Adult Swim would send a lot of negative messages about the show as well. Lastly, even though adults do watch the show, I don't know how large of an audience we are. We're quite vocal about it, certainly, but I don't know many people are actually into it.

Lauren Faust has also stated that toy sales is typically not terribly strong among adult collectors--at least, not nearly enough to support a large toy company like Hasbro. Considering Hasbro's primary goal is to sell a lot of toys, I think putting it on Adult Swim would almost certainly hurt the show sales-wise, too. Poor sales of the MLP:FiM toys would very likely help contribute to killing the show, I'd wager.
