[[ Returning to this thread. Hope nopony minds. ]]

The Mayor had stepped out earlier from the conversation to attend a few errands. Stepping back into the cafe, she found herself almost dumbfounded to see Princess Cadence. A few other new faces were talking to her as well. Why wasn't she informed? What was she doing here? Why were there no guards in the front? Lots of questions shot through her at an instant.

She calmed herself down and made her way towards the Princess to introduce herself.

"Princess Cadence!" She said as she bowed. "What a pleasant surprise! I wasn't told of your visit! I must have overlooked my schedule plans. Had I known, I would have prepared the town for your arrival."

Somepony at Townhall had to answer for this. If this was an official visit then she would have been notified in advance by one of the clerks, but no. She kept that thought in a compartment and reminded herself to deal with that issue later. Right now, royalty was in Ponyville and she had to give it all her attention. Everything else could wait.

  2. [[ Sorry that I failed to reply here. Doing so now to formally exit out of the RP. ]]

The Mayor smiled as the mare continued her work. She was an odd one but she was rather enthusiastic about her work. She reminded herself to pay her extra bits for volunteering the job. She would probably do good in other jobs around town but that had to wait. The Mayor was a busy pony and had to run a few errands aside from her daily routine at work.

"Well, I'll see you later I suppose Screw Loose." Do drop by my office for a chat or two when you have time.

Realizing that she wasn't going to be back until late in the evening, the Mayor changed her mind and decided to pay Screw Loose for the work for the whole day.

"Oh and in case I don't come back in time to see you. Here's what I owe you for today's work and a little extra just in case you run out of paint." She smiled as she hoofed her the bits owed for the days work. "Keep up the good work! Bye!"

She trotted off to her favorite cafe to start off the morning by reading the news and hopefully her regular stroll around town to personally check on the ponyfolk.

  3. [[ Note: I'm posting here to formalize the Mayor leaving the thread. I know its been a while since someone has posted but I will post my last reply anyway as directed by RP staff. ]]

The Mayor was still a bit unsure if she was going to pickup that Daring Do novel. Every other pony seemed to love it. Well why not? She thought to herself. From Lux's recommendations she picked up one copy of the novel and see what the fuss was all about. A few other books for light reading were on her list as well as a new study on "The Changing Political Climate in Equestria."

"I think I'm good to go Lux." She smiled as she hoofed out bits to pay Lux. "Oh keep the change, and I wish you well."

She then turned to IceStorm. "I wish you luck on your Ice stand! Come by the office for a chat if you're free. I'd love the company!"

The bookstore was filled with ponies by now and The Mayor had quite enough exposure. And besides she needed to get back to work. She exited the little bookstore wishing it a silent good luck and trotted her way back to Town Hall with her books in tow.

  4. Hmmm not bad, she told herself. He seemed to have the confidence and truth in his eyes. So this was a stepping stone for him to becoming a Royal Investigator. She guessed that everypony had to start somewhere.

"That's very commendable." She fixed her glasses. "I'm just surprised that this is your motivation. Very few ponies stop to think of serving the crown no matter what level, but you don't seem to mind starting from the bottom. That's a good start. Who knows maybe you'll be Mayor someday too."

She opened her desk and reached for some papers. She hoofed it over to Sleuth.

"Please take the time to answer these simple questions. It's the standard aptitude exam so just do your best." She pointed over at the long desk where Geary was seated. He was still busy with his own test. "Have a seat next to Mr. Geary. When you're done just leave the paper on my desk and go back to your seat. Once I'm done with the last applicant today, I may make my decision on who to hire."

There was one more applicant. The soldier pony, from the looks of it. He had his uniform on and was oddly quiet. She motioned to him with her hoof.

    "Next."

  5. "Pleased to meet you Mr. Sleuth." She said with a smile. "Please have a seat and let me take a look at your resume."

As she scanned the resume, she was surprised as to why a detective would love to do boring officework as an assistant. Clearly he had motivations to do so but she would find out as she interviewed him. Some of his credentials were perfect for the job but the Mayor feared that this might be just a passing fancy for the stallion since he traveled around a lot.

"That's an impressive resume Mr. Sleuth." She said as she put the paper down on her desk. "Tell me, what is it that motivates you to move on?"

It was a simple question, but at the same time a trick question. She wasn't sure what the detective would answer but judging from his past experiences, it would be something unusual or unheard of in daily life. Still she wanted to know what made him tick.

"Also while you're at it, why did you decide to apply to become my assistant? Surely you have better work out there than just sitting around all day doing paperwork?" She added.

  6. After picking up her coat and hat, she led the Hammer and Rapier ponies to the station. She was just glad that this whole mess was over. Argenta's men positioned themselves around the two trouble makers as she trotted beside them. By now, there was a huge crowd that gathered around the otherwise quiet street. Fights like these happened frequently but not so serious as their beloved Patrolmare was so deeply invovled. Some of the ponies sighed in relief as it finally ended and went about their business. Others started commenting about how the hammer pony was awesome. Yet others were so relieved that Argenta wasn't hurt so badly and that they would do anything to protect their lovely patrolmare from the big bad hammerpony. Yet a few mares couldn't help but notice the cute Rapier pony and hoped that he would glance their way.

Argenta's head began to hurt, not from the fight but from the crowd's reactions. She motioned to one of her subordinates to disperse the crowd and to let them know that the show was over. Somehow this would be on the district news by tomorrow morning. She could already hear her superiors giving her sermons about handling things with delicacy and more finesse. She shut that thought out into a compartment in her head and focused on the mess that was now.

"Corporal Argenta...." She began to introduce herself. "... of the 9th Cossack Heavy Infantry Battalion."

  7. It was about time Grandya needed to fly down into the city to search for that engineer that they needed badly. She figured that maybe a few visits to some taverns and asking around some merchant stalls would do the trick. There would be probably a lot of hopefuls since the Ostrov docks were always filled with ponies wanting to board an airship or two. Most of them just wanted the thrill of the ride so it was going to be difficult to actually find somepony with the particular skill set of airship engines.

"Captain," She spread her wings and began to flap a few times. "I'll head down to the docks and probably the districts to find a few more supplies. And hopefully try to recruit our engineer. If you have a list of anything else that you may need please do write them down."

She noticed the other members giving her different looks. It didn't take long for her to figure out that they wanted something too.

"Alright..." She sighed. "The crew can write down what they want. Within reason of course."

This wasn't going to bode well. She knew she was going to blow a few bits but she had to make her crew at ease. She promised herself that this would be the first and only time she would grant such a favor to the crew. She sat on her haunches as she waited for the crew to decide what they wanted before she left.

  8. "You are in no position to bargain with me Germane." She snaps back at the hammer pony. "You can find your criminal, however, I'm confiscating your weapon. You can have it back when you leave Stalliongrad."

At the wave of her hoof, Argenta's rookies carry the hammer and chain. Surprisingly, it took two of them to carry it. They hadn't expected it to be that heavy. They carried it towards the station with a few other guards. She then brought her attention to the rapier pony.

"You," She glares towards the rapier pony in annoyance. "Where is your permit to carry weapons? Have you been to the Stable? Are you another mercenary? By Luna, why do ponies on my shift not follow rules?"

She just about had it with this two. For all she knew, they could spend a long time in detention to cool off until she can figure things out. Scratching her mane, she could already hear her commanding officer whine more than complain about this mess. By now the public would have scattered news about this skirmish and it would eventually reach the other stations. This would damage her reputation and it was too late for amends it seems. She just hoped that this mess would finally end.

  9. Geary was clearly nervous but there was some sort of enthusiasm into his speech. His sincerity and straightforwardness was something to be considered. The Mayor liked this particular attitude and nodded at his every reply. She was about to speak but another Pony came into her office and apologized for the interruption. Well now, two more to interview. This will be an interesting day indeed, she told herself. But now she had to finish Geary's interview.

"That's commendable Geary." She began to talk. "Dedication and wanting to experience something new to change your life is a trait that most employers look for. But that alone doesn't say who or what you are entirely."

She stood up and opened a drawer on her desk, pulling out a piece of paper with her mouth and laid it in front of Geary. She momentarily caught Geary's eyes that clearly gave away that he wasn't sure what was coming next.

"That's a simple assessment exam." She said as she pointed to a desk on the other side of the office. "Please take time to read and answer the questions and essay at the end. Take your time, there's no rush.

She trotted towards the other two applicants who were patiently waiting. One of them looked oddly busy pondering over his application. The other was clearly a Military Pony. What an interesting group of applicants today.

    "Next pony please!"

  10. (( Ugh sorry wasn't feeling too good the past 3 days. ))

Argenta listened to his so-called "mission" and the complaint of the hammer stallion.

"Had you just allowed me to ask a few questions at the station, this fight would have been avoided." She complained back. "But no, you had to muck up everything and attack a patrolmare!"

She stomped a hoof on the street making the pavement crack at the force she exerted. She was still wearing those brass hooves, and she was itching to use them on this stubborn hammer pony if he still resisted. She was getting tired of this as the commotion attracted a few more onlookers. Some of them knew her and glanced with concern. Merchants, vendors and ponies on the streets knew that their beloved patrolmare was in a pinch but they could do nothing to help.

"As for you!" She pointed at the other troublemaker, the young rapier-wielding stallion. "Hammer pony here has a point. You will also accompany me to the station and answer some questions."

She gave him a "don't-argue-with-me-because-I'm-ticked-off" look and stomped her hoof for emphasis. She glanced back to the hammer Pony.

"You want this fighting to end? Fine, accompany me to the station now and maybe we can come to an agreement. But you must pay for the trouble you have caused here or do I have to do this the hard way?"

Argenta has never lost her composure before. To the public that saw her everyday, she was the calm, cool and well-mannered officer, but today, her annoyance began to show as she began to fuss over the incident. Her subordinates, the privates that were herding the crowd away looked back in concern. They have never seen their senior officer so worked up like this.

  11. She was truly surprised to hear what Geary said. She had known him to not be the talkative type so this was a huge stride for him. Even though he didn't have much of the qualifications, the Mayor was willing to give everypony a chance. Especially those like Geary who wanted a break in life. She could clearly see the young stallion's nervousness through his speech so she let out a smile to ease up the tension in the atmosphere.

There was also another pony who was outside waiting. The flyers must have finally caught some attention. The Mayor contained her glee as she concentrated on interviewing Geary first.

"Try to relax Geary," she assured him. "Just be yourself and I'm sure you'll do fine in this interview."

"Okay Geary, so tell me about yourself and why you're pefect for this position?"
