  1. There is, with any group that happens to enjoy something, some group that hates them for having what could generally be called 'fun' or 'a good time' or 'satisfaction with their current lifestyle'. There is hatred for people who like well-voice-acted, colourful talking pastel ponies. There is hatred for people who enjoy the times, life and exploits of a billionaire who defeats crime with an endless array of gadgets and wits. There is hatred for people who enjoy a series set a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away. There is hatred for people who enjoy the merriment of talking, bouncing, singing vegetables. There is hatred for people who recognize and accept the theory that small mutations found within a family of species may lead to a long series of advancements in the biology of that genus. There is hatred for people who feel that the use or consumption of animal products is unecessary for their continued living. There is hatred for people who enjoy a series of panels accompanied by words, concerning the exploits of children playing a supra-universal game of creation and exploration. There is hatred for people who would rather imagine themselves as a species or genus other than what they were born with. There is hatred for people who are attracted to their own gender. There is hatred for the number 42. There is hatred for mathematics. There is hatred for history. There is hatred for political beleifs.

No matter where you look, wherever there is a group of people having fun in sufficient quantity to be seen and recognized by those not within that group, there is going to be a much smaller, much angrier group of people who decide to hate, berate, aggrivate, exclude, slander, illegalize, dehumanize, defenstrate, deface, discredit, attack, or otherwise try to make miserable the people having fun.

As such, I will leave it to spiderman to convey my feelings upon this matter.

  2. I don't read a lot of webcomics and things where ponies might appear, but not too long ago a friend pressured me into getting into Homestuck.

Ponies have been a part of Homestuck for a while, what with the character Maplehoof, seen here, being in it since relatively early on:

Recently however, a more familiar pony face has popped up. The character Dirk is apparently a fan of Rainbow Dash and has multiple posters of her up in his room, one of which can be seen here:

....Dangit phil. If I'd noticed this thread like three hours before I noticed a very-similar-but-slightly-different thread.... *Fist-shake*

  3. Upon stepping out the door, there were a number of things Spike hadn't expected. The Loch Ness monster was one of these things, as was a five-hundred-pound bear, or a pack of dancing timber wolves playing limbo with Scootaloo and Sweetie-belle. Fluttershy was slightly less unexpected than any of these, if only because Fluttershy did come over every now and then, but he still hadn't been expecting her there.

    "Good morning Spike!"

“Hunh?” Warning! Warning! Hitch in plan detected! Stay cool, stay smooth. “Oh, uh, uh, hey Fluttershy!”

    "I-is everything all right, Spike?"

...smooth as sandpaper, sneaky as a bull elephant playing the cymbals. Spike stood there for a moment, his brain briefly trying to process what would be a good idea to say at this point.

“Uh... Yeah! Yeah, everything's... great! I mean, what a lovely six days before Hearts and Hooves this is, hunh? Wow, what a sunrise, I mean you couldn't get that in Canterlot, you just couldn't, lemme tell ya! Ok, well, if you were lucky and hanging around Celestia by some chance you could, aaaaand it was just as good there, too!”

It was well past sunrise, pushing on towards the tenth hour of the day. If dragons were capable of sweating, Spike would've been, the baby dragon slowly inching his way back indoors. Okay, find an alternate out, sneak his way to the market. Yeah, totally a good idea!

“But, hey, don't lemme keep ya! Heheh, pleeeenty to do today! I mean, whe-”

"Spike! Spike are you in here?

It was like somebody had pulled his tail out of nowhere – his eyes widened, he jumped a noticable amount, and he almost chomped his bottom lip. Aaaaand there went sneaking back inside and out undetected. Bother.

However, this sudden improvised pose lasted for only a split-second, and Twilight would be greeted with a fairly normal Spike, one whose expression spoke of HA HA I WASN'T SNEAKING OUT IGNORE THIS BACKPACK EVERYTHING IS FINE! Just a bit of a wince, a bit of a shifty glance, a smile that was just a little forced.

"Spike do you know where our copy of Silly Filly, You Can't Eat All of Those Apples! went? because I was just looking all over for it... and while I was looking around the library I noticed that a lot of the books weren't where they should be. When was the last time you double checked all of the shelving?”

Welp, at least he still had some semblance of cover. He relaxed, just focusing on telling twilight where to find yet another book. “Oh uh, yeah, I know where that is. In the culinary section, under S.”

The spike then got an idea. A sneaky idea. A helpful idea!

Spike got an excellent, sneakily helpful idea!

“Wait a sec, we're not making apple jellies and jams. You wouldn't... say, need me to bring that book to anypony, would you? Maybe... run a few errands? Go out for a little while? Cuz, hey, I was just telling Fluttershy what a NICE DAY it would be to head out and get some FRESH AIR.” He gave Fluttershy a somewhat lousy surreptitious wink – play along, Fluttershy, for the love of Celestia, please play along. He couldn't get stuck in the library for another two days reorganizing every book again, not when Hooves and Hearts was so close!

  4. Hold the phone!! Is alicorn even a playable species?

For a crossover or free-form roleplay, alicorns are an acceptable species. However, as a note, crossovers are generally where another fictional world interacts with the FiM setting, so this character may be better-suited for freeform, wherein anything goes. I could see there being difficulty in writing up this character as being on the FiM-side of a crossover.

  5. Ships. Ships everywhere.

A great, vast, blue expanse stretched in every direction, his to patrol, his to explore, and his to set sail upon.

Captain Spike – it had a nice ring to it, and with captain's hat and admiral's vest, he felt very much the part. Standing at the helm of the C. S. Infrequency, he felt very much at home, with his cargo of gemstones and silks above and below deck, to be shipped by February 14th. The clouds above, like marshmallows, and while smaller, oddly-coloured ships sailed in the distance, he made certain that his own white and purple galleon would be well-secured. All was well, all was calm.

But then, an alarm! The shill jangle of incessant bells! The bells, the bells were crying out, the very world around him shaking just a tad with their piercing noise! He could feel himself being tugged up, sharply rising up and out of his fine ship, the whole world fading away...

And then he fell out of bed, his dutiful alarmclock shaking the endtable with it's racket, rattling this way and that like some tiny, enraged little box of springs and cogs. Spike let out a groan, then an “Alright, alright already, I'm up...” But, rather than dutifully rise from the tangle of bedsheets and scales, he simply lay there, trying to drift back to his ubiquitous dreamland.

The clock, however, would have none of this lollygagging, and though if by some mind of its own, the incessant ringing and rattling sent it slowly forward, to the precipice of the bedside furnishing, and then down onto Spike's forehead. It was, very clearly, time to get up.

“Ow! Alright, alright already... ow.” A hand to his forehead, and up got the number-one assistant. A bit more painful than being dumped unceremoniously out of bed by an annoyed Twilight Sparkle, perhaps, but no less indignant. He picked up the still ringing alarm, clicking it off with a grumble, then set about remaking his bed, tidying up a bit, and grabbing a few sapphires. Breakfast food was blue!

However, he didn't stay half-asleep long. It was not coffee nor gems nor magic nor even loud sounds that got him awake – it was a look at the calendar, it was nearly the eighth! “It's Monday already? Oh, man, where'd the days go! Hooves and Hearts day's coming!” This much, he knows! “I don't have a gift to give Rarity yet! Oh, I'll need a really good idea, I'd bet.” So Spike puzzled and pondered, then snapped out of his little rhyme, trying to think. Ok, it was monday, no need to panic. Just play it cool and think it through and get something really thoughtful. It was his first Hearts and Hooves where he actually had anyone to think about, so maybe it was important?

He let his mind wander for a while – surely there'd be stallions at her door! They might even line up the evening before! With serenades, trinkets, sonnets and jewels, she'd have at her beck any number of fools! But her attention she'd win, and in that he'd entrust; he had to be Rarity's valentine, he must! Still... nothing came to mind. What did you get such an elegant pony for Hearts and Hooves day, anyhow? Did it matter that he didn't have hooves? Would that be something he'd have to compensate for?

He'd need advice on this one, and he'd need it somewhat soon. So, with a quick bit of tidying and chore-completion, Spike gathered up his good backpack, a few bits, some gems, and what ideas he could gather, and started heading for the door. "To Ponyville market!"

  6. ...You are going to make great friens with all of us scientific consideration thinks-too-hard-about-a-childrens-show-because-we-are-genuinely-interested-in-that-sort-of-malarky types.

Seriously though, you are going to be credit to site, of this I am fairly certain.

Or drive us all absolutely mad, not sure which.

  7. Counterpoint : People like Twilight, Jersey Shore, the Young Earth Theory, and a whole slew of other atrocious things completely lacking in any sort of redeeming value. Simply because you have a counter-arguement doesn't mean everyone will listen to it, no matter how accurate or factual or thought-out it may be. That is simply how humaniy works. They can decide to not change their opinions whether they watch or read something, they can just skim over it and pretend they understand, or they can simply fall back on apathy.

Also, gonna point out that not every character gets the same 'treatment'. Fluttershy has had the fewest episodes by far out of everyone, and when Rainbowdash gets an episode, she's as boisterous, egotistical and overconfident as ever, even if she 'learned' that she should behave otherwise in a previous episode, while twilight seems to be getting fewer lines whenever she isn't playing the standard 'party leader' role.

As for Hasbro's apparent generosity, they're going against what faust and other wrters have clearly states previously with some of the toys, and are pretty awful at letting users outside of the USA get at my little pony. I mean, the hub isn't avaiable in any other country, and the youtube uploads keep getting taken down, that's not helping anyone!

That aside, the fandom for MLP is just as capable of containing bitter, disrespectful individuals as any other; the difference is that the friendly, welcoming ones are actually more prominent in this fandom than most.

Don't get me wrong, I love the show too, but some of your points are kinda flimsy.

    Besides, Animaniacs was funnier.

  8. SO! Here's the idea.

I start a thread, the idea of which will be to gather adventurers and solve a problem! The problem will involve dark magic, the undead, monsters, mayhem, and reward! It's also liable to involve a bit of fighting, because you can't really overcome monsters without subduing them in some fashion. Not going to lie, it'll be kind of DnD-ish in feel - a group of adventurers, either strangers or friends, comes to know of a rather significant problem, one that needs special attention to overcome. On their jourey, they will have to overcome challenges, probably fight or talk down a few others, probably fight or scare off some variety of monster, all in the name of glory and prestige. However, there won't really be any DnD mechanics involved - it'll be entirely freeform. Characters try things, I say how those turn out based on how talented the characters are supposed to be at things.

It won't really fit in the story's canon, and to be honest though I'll be using characters that I've applied for in Mane RP I won't be including this in their canon either. All in the name of fun!

Of course, the board being what it is, I'd rather that those involved didn't require me to move this from 'everyone' to '18+' (Because I want certain people who have shown interest to come too) by deciding to bring characters that'd move such a thing in such a direction. Blunt weapons, hitting stuff, even most spells I can downplay to E-rated content, no problem. Once we get lances and spells of gruesome intent going.... yeah, there's a limit, so leave that out please and thanks.

Also, there'll be a bit of wackiness in post order. If someone posts with an action directly involving an NPC or the setting, I will try to be the next to respond no matter what. Other than that, I will ask that players not automatically succeed at overcoming a significant obstacle in their posts. (IE - don't godmode or autohit VS NPCs, don't smash down walls or doors that are described as being fairly solid). I know this is a bit of a tresspass, but for the time being I kind of need to do that sort of thing just because that's how I work best presently.

Also it'd be cool if you told me which characters you guys are bringing.

I think I have enough people right now. Lemme know if you're interested anyways, though! If this one goes well, I'll run more!
