Ironically, this story does fit the Theme of the Month as Chapter 1 mentions a coffee shop and Chapter 2 (& Chapter 3 will) takes place at said Coffee Shop. The Irony is I wrote both Chapter 1 & 2 before I found this site.

So I've been working on a Short Stories series about my OC Characters.

The name of the series, "Awkward Moments", was a name my brother came up with for a Comic series for Neopets many years ago. I am releasing the series in Chapters of Books.

I know this app is a WIP but I have a few comments:

First off I just have to say I love the color scheme on Danton

Alchemy - Can you please explain what kind of alchemy you're talking about in this application? There are various definitions of alchemy used all over fiction ranging from high fantasy alchemy like you see in FMA to alchemy that could nearly be considered chemistry.

Origin - Can you please specify what city he was found in as a baby and what city he currently lives in?

Color Scheme - Thanks!

Alchemy - He mostly works on the Alchemy that we think of today (thanks to MMOs and Video Games). You know, with potions that cure some thing, make somepony better at something(Stronger, Faster, etc.), and poisons. If you've ever player Elder Scrolls, think of it like that.

He also studies and does some work with what is known as "Traditional Alchemy". Where they are trying to create the "Philosopher's Stone" which is to be used to turn anything into Gold, or the Elixir of Life (Eternal Life).

Origin - I really didn't want to say it was the Ponyville Orphanage, as there may not be one (future episodes may contradict it's existence). And while I wanted to keep it a secret, I guess I'll let it be know he lives in an old, collapsed, stone building in the Everfree Forest.

I have no problem with maybe Vectoring a SHAPE of a pony that you like, and then using your own imagination to draw the tail, mane, cutie-mark ect.

The problem lies when the pony is clearly AppleJack and you just stuck Rarity's Mane on her head and made it rainbow XD

Wanting to do clean work is fine and dandy, it's not so fine and dandy when you pretty much copy over a screen shot line by line, don't change anything and then claim it's your vectored art XD

For my own Ponies I just used the Pony Maker, and plan to try my best to at the least study them enough to color them myself XD

I completely agree with you. If something called OC, it should at least be mostly "O". The only time I recall doing something close to your Applejack-Rarity example was when I recolored one of my Twilight vectors. I changed her colors to shades of grey and made her eyes Red. I still called it Twilight Sparkle, but it was less than 25% OC in my opinion and thus not "OC" (to me). (By the way I called it "Twilight Sparkle: Shadowmare" and gave the Shadowmare a small bio)

Edit: Quick Question: If somepony made an OC image but then modified that OC later(like change it's colors), would you consider what he just made (the edited) OC or not?

It's the whole " I copied it therefore it is art" Bit >/ Tracing to me isn't art it's what you do PRIVATELY to improve yourself, you don't trace over someone else's work, change the color and then BAM "IS CREATIVE AN NEW CUZ DA MANE IS NOW DIAMONDS"

I understand what you're saying. [We are] being unoriginal and what not. But vectoring is helpful for those who want to make "real" art. Do you think people want to look at a pixely image with amazing detail else where? Allowing people to use and modify the vectors is what most of us do.

Your point is made more clear when you factor in Unoriginal concepts. October 15, the day Lesson Zero was aired, I could look and see several "Insane Twilight" vectors, several were identical (Except for minor errors and image sizes), as well as many "Rainbow Dash with Sunglasses". Later, they thinned out the images by only using the one of best quality, but point still there.

There is also OC vectoring where there is little or no tracing. Skills to make these are usually honed by Non-OC Vectoring. And even though I make a lot of vectors and have quite a few admirers, I do not consider myself an artist.

Because of many vectorers making low quality vectors, the standards for vector quality has increased. Just because you make an OC vector, doesn't mean it will get accepted to the Gallery.

Though I must admit my feelings on people who do "Vectors" Sorta grind my pony gears but you seem pretty cool

Is it because it requires little skill or artistic talent? Cause, personally, I find a bit funny on how much praise [we] get for something almost anyone can do.

I'm no good at singing but I did write this parody of Dynamite. I'm pretty open to recommendations in modifying this song. Also, I would not mind if somepony used this to make a music video/sing it, as long as it is of good quality.

Character Summary:

At a very young age, Opacus Sol knew he was abandoned on the day he was born. This, at first, drove him resent who his parents were and his connection to them. This lead him to adopt a new name, Danton. Danton says that he heard the name during, what seemed like, a vision of the future.(This was not the vision mentioned in Motivation). Many years later, Danton no longer felt anger toward his parents however the name Danton grew on him and he found it too difficult to change back.

Danton is what many would call a "tragic character", though Danton himself does not think of himself as so.

This is despite being orphaned the day he was born, constant bullying and tormenting as he grew up, and even being constantly ostracized today. As a result of this "abuse", Danton became more and more stoic to the point where he looks as if he has no emotion. Very few know he lives in an old stone building in the Everfree Forest. It is speculated there is thousands of old and antique books based on all the books Danton buys from the Ponyville Book Store.

The meaning behind his Cutie Mark is that it represents Danton's talent for Alchemy. The Black Sun represents the beginning/ first process of Alchemy where the materials & ingredients are impure, while the (Normal) Sun represents the end, or final process, of Alchemy where the Opus Magnum is complete.

Danton is quite good with magic (but not as good or close as Twilight). His known Magic abilities include:

• Telekinesis(like most Unicorns)
  
• Flame Control(Small, mainly used for Alchemic Purposes)
  
• Small Illusion Spells
  
• Sleep (More of a "Nap" considering duration)
  
• Emit Light (From his horn)
  
• "Feel" Magic
  
• Self-Levitation (~2 hooves high maximum; Cannot do it very long)
  

Danton is also an expert in herb and plant identification as well as having knowledge of common poisons and diseases. Danton works on both forms of Alchemy: Alchemy's current definition(potion making) and "Traditional Alchemy" where Danton tries to create his opus magnum(Latin for "great work"). The 2 most commonly known Alchemical Opus Magnums are the Philosopher's Stone and the Elixir of Life. Danton's interest in Alchemy started when he found an old book on the subject hidden under floorboards of the orphanage. The book explained how to make potions and poisons, but it also explained the basics of what one does to create their "opus magnum".

While many may see the concept of meditation as useless and a waste of time, Danton knows better. While meditating, Danton's Magical abilities are enhanced as is mental capabilities and understanding of his surroundings. Some of Danton's abilities are only available while in meditation, such as Thought-Projection where he can mentally see a short distance away, such as around a corner. Besides magical benefits, meditation allows Danton to calm himself and let his troubles and worries subside. And as a side note, Danton occasionally receives visions while in meditation.

Danton rarely sees importance in emotional attachments. For example: If somepony lost their favorite amulet that was given to them by their, now departed, grandmother, Danton will see no good reason in risking his(or anypony elses) life for a "valueless trinket". Usually Danton acknowledges these requests by saying something like: "Give me a good [damn] reason, I should X".

Danton's manner of speaking is what many consider as odd. While he may usually speak "normal" he, on occasion, speaks with an elegant tone. This is likely due to, as a foal, reading books rather that forming social skills.

Where some would fear the dark and shadows, Danton embarrass it. When asked why he likes darkness, Danton responded with "It feels... good..." Danton usually falls short when he tries to explain why he likes the dark as it usually sounds like he harnessing power from the shadows.

I have no idea what pony vectoring is.

Pony Vectoring is, more or less, tracing an still frame from the show using what is called Bezier curves. It's difficult to explain what these are without going into much detail. Anyway, once the tracing is done we scale the Bezier curves to what ever size we want. Typically between 2000px and 10000px (10800px is the maximum height allowed in on deviantArt) but since we used Bezier curves, there is no lose of quality! The fact that it can scaled larger or smaller and not lose quality is what is so appealing to Vector images than Raster images. There also a Reddit group who have created tutorials to help people learn. I also should mention that many vectorers also create OC as well as show content.

About myself.: I am, like most of you, an Internet user. I occupy my free time, as well as time I should be using for other things, with everything from surfing to gaming. Recently I have become oppressed with "Pony Vectoring", as evidence of my 2.5 Deviantions per day.

I currently reside in Central Pennsylvania in the United States. Grew up in a small town, I quickly grew to love computers and eventually built 3. 1 for me, another for me(more of a complete upgrade of my first one) and one for my brother.

My current dream, and my first "dream" I have ever really had, is for at least one of my artworks is used in the show. It could be my Character or even just the Cutie Mark I designed.

I don't know about most of you, but my favorite music is Power Metal! This does not include DragonForce, as they do not really "play for real". My favorite Band is known as HammerFall. HammerFall is an internationally famous, Swedish band who's most recent album, "Infected", was only over-shadowed as #2 in the Swedish Charts by Lady Gaga. Two of their other albums have hit #1. Though they are Swedish, they sing in English, except for a few lines in several songs where they speak Latin and a few lines in their new song "Dia de los Muertos".
