  1. I like what you did with the shading, especially the bits on her wings. Did you use any path finding functions or did you free hand the edges that are up against unshadowed areas?

Thanks :) All the lines are vectored with vectory tools, and the shading was done freehand with the lasso thingie in Photoshop :)

  2. When I first saw this, my first impression was that she kind of looks like a ponified version of Gumby. But the hair doesn't fit with a crossover. In fact, her mane stands out so prominently on closer inspection that I think its probably my favorite part. Its got this crazy implied volume even though there's only a little bit of shadowing. :)

Well I don't know what a Gumby is, so that's obscure enough for me anyway! Thanks as always ;)

  3. That your structuring is unconventional is precisely why I'm interested. I've gotten decent at drawing forms that make sense, but bending and stretching them cartoonishly like you do is something I haven't been able to wrap my head around yet.

Well you've done the hard bit then. Cartooning is largely to do with a state of mind rather than a set of rules like standard anatomy. Keep at it and you'll get it though ;)

  4. I love this sort of thing! It's super informative to be able to look at all those sketch lines and make out the process and construction behind these.Do you have any pencils? I want moar sketches! (And if there are too many for gallery, the Art Discussion forum works too)

I love doing that too - hunting down the sketches and WIP pictures from great artists to try and go behind-the-scenes with what they do. It's great fun XD I'm not sure my sketches would be much help in that area though - I believe my structuring method is quite unconventional.

That said, if you want more sketchy stuff from me, check my deviantART scrapbook http://astalakio.deviantart.com/gallery/?catpath=scraps which I've started putting more things into recently. If I have WIP pics I want to show or general/pencil sketches, I'll put 'em there ;)

  5. Fluttershy: Hugs?Twilight Sparkle: Hugs are go!I think my favorite part is their baggy, hand-me-down outfits. :)

    Gotta love the bagginess XD

I think I just had a heart attack. That's so precious, I suddenly want daughters. <3

Whoa there, that's dangerous thinking O.o I'm sure little girls aren't always this cute (actually, having a sister, I know it for a fact XD)

  6. Can't argue with that :)Awesomely done :D

    Thanks man :)

Aww yeah! Not only is it the best pony, but its the best pony x2. :)

Can't have too much Twilight ;)

    Woot awesome twilight is awesome.

    Thank you :D

Pinkie is best pony, but I always admire it when someone picks a one-shot or BG pony as their favorite (So one like for SkyMunki!).Twilight isn't my #1, but I adore her nonetheless, and I really like her smug pose here.

Ha, she's like "How many books have YOU read? Hm, that's what I thought..."

  7. hehe, the first step to achieving Pinkie Pie levels of self levitation is levitating your tail. :) Sometimes its really the simple things that make you smile, you know, a quick sketch with a bright expression.

I agree, that's why I decided to digitize it so I could share the smiles :)

  8. Seriously should try DA, just afraid all my pony stuff would flop. :/

Trust me my friend, there is NO chance of that. Throw each of your pics into a couple of the pony related groups, and after that they just spread of their own accord. You get a bunch of notifications from people wanting it in their groups, and the more of them you get in, the more people see it and so on. You'll do well.
