Character Summary:Slick was born and raised in the mostly Zebra-inhabited Manehattan neighborhood, Marelem. Raised by his single mother, Ifrica, she and he would often go out on the streets and soak up the sub-culture of Equestrian-Zebras in the neighborhood. It was mostly musical venues the mother and son attended together, and more than occasionally Slick would watch his own mother perform at some of these places in her all-female Soul band, The Celestial Roots. Watching her and her friends inspired him into music, and he ended up receiving his mother's father's old guitar—a well-used Gibson ES-335—from the stallion himself. His grandfather only had to help him practice for a short time before Slick began learning Blues, Soul and Rock & Roll songs by ear. It didn't take long for him to feel the calling of music, and his mother performed the ancient zebra ritual to make his Tribal Mark appear. It was in the form of a blue crescent moon, a symbol he is still trying to decode to this day.

Slick grew into an outgoing young stallion; not afraid to voice his opinions and put unsavory people in their place. Years of working at a bar (off the record, being an underage older colt for the first years of his employment) gave him skill in basically being a bouncer; kicking out unruly patrons that ended up having a little much of drink or salt. At that gig, he became widely known of being a no-nonsense colt. And when he wasn't kicking out unruly zebras and ponies alike from the bar, he was participating in the open mike nights (much to his own pleasure and the pleasure of those having the privilege to listen to him). He played a long time as a solo stallion, and would always dedicate his opening song; the same song every time; to his mother and grandfather: a cover of “The First Time I Met The Blues.”

Some years later, he and some friends formed a full Blues band, Slick Slide & The Rockin' Fellows; complete with a bassist, drummer, keyboardist and horn section. As fun as it was, they were far from professional, and mostly found themselves at casual joints around the neighborhood; not the various large concert halls and theaters of Marelem where the bigger bands played. They were a short lived band, disbanding only two years after their formation. But to Slick it was one of the best experiences he had had yet. Though they were a casual band, as it were, he was still able to guage his overall skill in playing with a band; along with the honest critiques from his mother and grandfather. After it all wrapped up, he felt he would be quite successful in future bands, whether they be casual or in earnest.

As of today, he is a part-time bartender, and has become something of a local legend; subsequently being asked to play as a soloist or guest musician with other acts at some small-time joints. Since he attracts extra customers, these places are usually willing to give him a small percentage of the extra money he brings to the business.

Heh, I never once wanted to troll on bronies during my pre-brony era. No matter how weird I initially thought the fandom was. Sadly, when people can replace their very vulnerable physical bodies with virtual nonsenisal Internet pennames, it 'emboldens' them to atagonize people that they don't ever have to actually face. It's very easy to feel secure behind a veil cybernetic cowardice.

If someone hates the show itself, then whatever. As much a phenomenon FiM is throughout the world, it's still not gonna be somebody's cuppa tea, no matter what prodding they receive from a friend or someone of that sort.

Haters hating on those who like the show, however, is a different story. It's as ludicrous as hating someone for liking a band, or a sports team, or a freaking park trail to hike on (I'm sure there's someone out there like that; the stupidity of the human race has no boundaries). But for the most part, I can easily ignore haters. Even if they try to attack me directly; it's very hard to offend me. I don't suffer from butthurt as easily as most people; especially on the Internet, which--while has the amazing ability to bring people from different lands and cultures together on a social level easily--is still superficial and does not compare to communicating with another human being in the physical world.

Anyway, back on topic: hater's gonna hate. Butthurt and counter-trolling isn't gonna help. Instigating drama is just as bad, especially amongst fellow community members (I've seen it several times on the IRC); Internet Drama is the most petulant and meritless of all forms of drama humans can exhibit. It's not even real drama, it's just soap opera melodrama.

Plus, I don't think I've seen any trolls or haters on this site; save for one guy who PM'd me nonsensical crap out of the blue, but I just had to put him on the 'ignore' list and that was that

I never really make up reasons for liking something, I just do.

Season 2 will supposedly have 28 episodes, and the last 3 are a multi-parter apparently. If true, that's about the length of a Direct-to-DVD movie right there.

Sounds like when South Park did their 'Imaginationland' three parter. Stone and Parker, the creators, later said it was basically another movie, only on TV in three separate parts.

And if they did make a FiM movie, I agree with most and say it'll most likely just be a straight-to-DVD thing. I'm personally indifferent to the notion of a film. If they make one, I'd watch it. If they don't, oh well, I still watch the TV show, and that enough.

I'm not worried. If you move on, you move on. There's plenty other things in the world to keep you happy as you grow older. But just because an eventual fading of the brony sub-culture is possible, it doesn't mean we still can't go back to all the old fan art and fav vidoes and even fan fics that would still float around, or that we saved to our hard drives. It'd become nostalgic to look upon this a decade from now.

I'm completely indifferent to the bad apples of the fandom. And if someone says I'm like said apples simply because I consider myself a brony, I'm indifferent to that as well. You'll find both on the Internet and IRL; it's extremely indifferent to 'offend' me. I'm thick-skinned like that.

After that, I watched actual episodes and liked the show more and more with each episode. "Party Of One" sealed my love for the show in stone, it remains my favorite episode so far. The only episode I didn't like at all was 'Mare Do Well.' Usually I don't mind Rainbow Dash's cocky antics, but she just annoyed the hell out of me in that episode. Other than that, other episodes are either decent or great, respectively.

My old laptop 'died' last year but I was able to take it to a local tech guy and he burned all of my files from the hard drive, including music and pictures, onto DVD-Rs so I could rip them to my new computer.

Plus, you should get like a cheap 1 Gig flashdrive for the future, just to put essential documents and other files onto it, and update it regularly. You never know when even a brand new computer will just decide to derp for no reason or catch a virus.

I do find Gilda and Trixie to be extremely annoying, but I like them as characters in the universe, as opposed to their personalities (sounds kinda contradictory, doesn't it?)

And I usually don't mind Rainbow Dash's arrogant antics, but she was so freaking annoying in Mare-Do-Well I skipped most of it. I didn't even think the episode was that great as a whole anyway. It's actually the first episode if FiM I haven't liked at all, but you can't win 'em all.

I'd have to go with 'Party of One.' Mostly with the 'old school' cartoony humor Pinkie Pie evokes (inexplicably beating RD to wherever she goes, and her spying); her manic suspicion of her friends and her ensuing 'replacement friends' is very lulzy as well.

MLP is part of my Internet life, which is completely separate and has no relevance to my life in the real world. I don't feel any urges to share it with people, I just enjoy it privately and only share my enjoyment on the net, like this site for instance.

I was reading this thread because it intrigued me. I tried showing MLP to my brother and the reactions were... less than appropriate but entirely expected given his character. Still, glad to see some ponies are having success

You may be on to something though. Maybe all I need is more pony to convert him. How does that saying go? "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink it." Maybe I just need to throw him in a pool. Not an actual horse, my brother I mean. And by pool I mean pony avalanche.

You should probably ease him into it, by saying "Just shut up, sit down and watch the show like a man! Popcorn?"

Way to make me feel bad. I didn't know there was a whole internet community that supported it, all I heard was that it was a dumb baby girl's show, so when you told me you liked it, you can see why I found it weird.

I myself am not quick to judge, so when I heard there was teenaged male following of the show, I thought "There's more to this show than meets the eye."

Well, none of the ponies morphed into giant fighting robots, but I found the characters enthralling and humor well played. Then I found Canterlot.com and saw the community (for the most part) is just as great as the show.

I voted for Twilight; though it'd be more accurate if it was a mix of Twi and Fluttershy.

Like Twilight, I read and write the most, and I'm sorta kinda neurotic about certain aspects of my home's atmosphere.

And like Fluttershy, I prefer quiet solitude and enjoy the company of animals at home (in my case my cats, though I'd get a dog too if I was able). Not good with people I don't really know either; I only get more expressive and outspoken once I've slowly gotten to know a person.
