Character Summary: Diana Rose was born to an earth pony mare named Sprinkle Pastry and a pegasus stallion named Polar Prance. Since her mother could not live in Cloudsdale with her husband, the couple moved to Fillydelphia, where their daughter was born. As a foal, Diana saw very few pegasi and was educated at the earth pony school in Fillydelphia. Her father was the one who taught her to fly, so her abilities are not as well honed as a pegasus who was trained at Flight Camp.

Her mother was a baker by trade, but she had a love of reading which she passed onto her daughter. Diana would read stories of adventure, danger, and treasure with wide eyes and a great imagination. When she grew up, she wanted to be just like her fictional heroes.

It was around this time that Diana earned her cutie mark. During a school-organized outdoors excusion to the Everfree Forest. She and a few classmates were lost in the depths of the forest. Even as a weaker flyer, the mare was able to lead the small group of frightened foals back to the mane group with her sense of direction and remembrance of landmarks. This earned her the compass rose cutie mark that she sports with pride.

When it became time for Diana to choose her path in life, she decided to travel for a while to learn what she wanted to do. It was at this time that she stumbled across the legend of the Sapphire Statue, a relic of the Diamond Dogs. Determined to find it, she set off in search of the temples of the Diamond Dogs. After days of searching, she had found the temple. However, she'd injured her wing in the process. With the injury, she navigated the jungle-like forest on hoof and found the artifact buried under the rock ruins of the temple.

However, when she returned with her discovery, the mare created a wild tale of daring and adventure. She wrote it down and was struggling with a name for her story. With a spark of inspiration, she wrote down the name Daring-Do and published the novel. It became a hit, with ponies everywhere wanting more adventures of the great explorer. Happy to oblige, Diana began to unearth more relics and spin the relatively boring tales into stories of adventure. She occasionally stumbles across a true adventure once in a while, but all of her recorded adventures are merely tall tales.

Diana's main flaw is greed. She always wants to find more treasure and jewels and thus gain more fame and adoration from the ponies of Equestria. Though her greed can blind her to more important aspects of life, she still has a good heart. Using her talent for guiding others, she occasionally works as a tour guide. She uses a disguise for this, of course, but Diana always wants to help those who are lost if she can.

She's good with foals, as her penchant for storytelling gives her a way to entertain the young ponies. Diana's also a master of hide-and-seek, so the foals can't slip away and get themselves into trouble. Of course, domestic life is far to boring in the pegasus' eyes, so she would never consider this for herself.

Adventure is where her heart lies and it is also her main positive trait. She's never afraid to help others who are in danger because she's faced danger herself. Though it was mostly in fiction, she's tried to live up to the qualities she gave to her fictional self and will never give up if there's still a chance to solve a problem.

  2. Wrong Note tilted her head once more at the colt's gasp. It was an odd reaction from her point of view. Manehatten had always been a part of her old life that she'd never looked back on with any new gaze. It was quite the area for high society and models, but she'd never been able to view it as the grand city that many saw it as. She wondered if she was going about it the wrong way. After all, she wasn't Celia any longer. She tried to put herself in Survey's hooves and view the city from his perspective. Of course, many of Equestria's most famous models had been there at one point of another and to an aspiring model it must have been quite the sight. She nodded to herself, understanding his reaction. When she was asked by Survey about being invited, she paused. Her curse made it a bit difficult to get her full meaning across. So, she tried her best to answer him with her lyrical explanation.

    "An invite?

    Not quite.

    Nopony would recognize my name,

as it is not the one which garnered my fame.

I felt as though I should attend,

as a reminder of the past it did send."

  3. Nice lookin' app you have here. :)

Well, based on the rules we saw in 'Baby Cakes' two earth ponies can give birth to a pegasus and a unicorn, so having her parents be a unicorn and a pegasus should be fine.

One thing I noticed while going over this app is that her broken horn and such aren't really explained in the history section. I think you may want to flesh that out in the app, since it's probably a big part of her character. One that note, I'm not sure that a pegasus who had a horn, even a broken one, is allowed in the Mane RP.

I'm not a helpstaff or anything, but those are just a few points that I think could help you make this application even better.

  4. Mirage started at the unexpected question from her breakfast partner. "Oh, uh, not really." She looked outside once again, letting her mind gather some thoughts. "Well, it was mostly just all of that philosophical stuff. Y'know, what you'd see in those hand knitted quill squares that the older ponies are so fond of." Another pause, more consideration. "I'm not really all that future-oriented, y'know? I've never really considered that I should use each and every moment, 'cuz it'll never be again. I mean, my impulsiveness was scolded as a foal, but it's helped me enjoy myself so far, so I must be doing something right." She laughed a bit, turning back to Vulpus. "Sorry to get all heavy subjects on you, there."

  5. (Hope you don't mind me jumping in!)

Neon Stargazer's eyes fluttered open slowly when greeted with the light of a nearby streetlamp. He blinked forcefully, trying to clear the spots from his vision. As he did so, the earth pony tried to remember what exactly had lead to him being on the ground. Um...it's nighttime-ish and... He looked down at himself to find the familiar all black garb of his superhero persona Nighthoof. ...I'm in costume, so it must have had to do with whatever I was chasing as Nighthoof. Mostly via conjecture and pieces of memory, the colt reconstructed the events that led to his fall.

He'd been after some troublemaker or another, leaping around the gaps between Manehatten's apartment complex. He had been so close to catching his quarry, so close to actually managing to stop an evildoer without some embarrassing clumsiness on his part. It was then that a spotted cat had appeared in his path on the rooftops. Neon had tried to adjust his run to sidestep the cat and managed to do so, but his jump had been thrown off and the colt was no pegasus. Still slightly groggy, he picked himself up from the stone street of whatever alley he had fallen into.

Alright Neon, just play it cool. You're an awesome superhero, act like it! Feeling relatively healed of his ego-bruise at the moment, the costume clad pony stepped out into the main streets of Manehatten. His walk was rather wobbly and it seemed like the world around him was shaking. Thankful that fewer ponies would be around to see Nighthoof making such a fool of himself, Neon continued forward determinedly.

  6. I'm still slightly confused about this whole situation. I've heard people saying two different things about the Derpy issue. So, some clarifying would be great. These points are:

    1) That the use of the name 'Derpy' is somehow problematic.

This is the least repeated, but I've seen it said before. Many assume that calling her Derpy has somehow gotten some fans up in arms. Now, whether it's about the name itself as a fan creation and the first user wanting some recognition for this (likely a monetary thing) or if they believe it to be offensive toward the developmentally disabled. Which brings me to the second point.

    2) That Derpy is offensive toward developmentally disabled individuals.

Much like starswirl, my mother works with developmentally delayed students. With this in mind, the thought didn't even cross my mind. There are many other fictional characters who are portrayed as being slightly slow, but none have received such a vocal protest. Honestly, I'm just confused by this whole issue. It's a children's show. If people were offended, especially if they are developmentally handicapped, I can understand and respect that as being their view on the subject. However, I'm more of the opinion that the main reason for this removal of the Derpy name is that Hasbro is worried about backlash from this minority hurting their reputation, which could be very bad for them.

I'm not sure if that made much sense, but in summation, it probably stems from a corporate action taken to protect Hasbro from coming under fire by those who were offended. Let's just hope this is resolved without too much fuss because personally I thought it was a cute shout-out to the brony fandom that we should appreciate, not fight over.

  7. Hello artists and curious ponies,

As uncomfortable as I am asking for request art, I would very much appreciate if somepony could give me a hoof with a title image/cover for my fan fiction Magnum Opus.

If you choose to volunteer your talents, we can discuss details and whatnot over PMs. I have only a very rough idea in mind, so your own ideas of the project are more than welcome.

Thank you for your time, whether you choose to create the cover or not. :)

  8. The mare listened with interest, thinking back to the stories she'd always heard of such places. They'd always been described as desaturated places where nopony could smile. It had always sounded terrible and everypony who'd left had been better off for it. However, Vulpus' explanation made her remember that not every rumor is right. Boring, maybe, but at least they were polite. "Well, at least one of those ponies knows how to have fun."

Though her laughter had died down, she still wore a slightly goofy smile on her muzzle. She felt content with all of Equestria at the moment and had good company and food as well. These are the times that we ponies should live for, she thought. Immediately, she followed that up with. Jeez, you sound like an old mare, Mirage. Now ain't the time for sentimentality! We've got an adventure ahead!

  9. Quantum had finally settled on her final picks for purchase from the shop. Knowing that it would be unwise to purchase every book she truly wanted to buy, she had shortened her long list down to ten volumes. Tesla had given her a rather disbelieving look, as though reminding her of the reason that she purchased books on such seldom occasions. Picking him up and placing the ferret atop her pile of books, she concentrated deeply on keeping the books aloft and balanced. Though manipulation of objects through telekinesis was her strongest area of magic, it was slightly taxing on her energy to keep ten thick books and a ferret in the air.

She traversed the shelves carefully, watching her step and her books as best she could. However, she turned a sharp corner and bumped right into a large male pegasus. She stumbled back slightly, managing to keep both herself and her books on balance. Tesla peered down from his perch atop the texts, wondering what the source of such a bothersome commotion had been. "I'm terribly sorry, sir. Do forgive my absentmindedness."

  10. Mirage couldn't help but laugh at the story that the earth pony told. Briefly, she wondered if the other patrons of the restaurant were bemused but their seemingly random outbursts of laughter. The idea of bewildering several poines only made her laugh more, turning it into a weird a weird bubble fo all-encompassing happiness. She hadn't laughed this much since coming to her least enjoyed terrain of the desert and it felt quite liberationg, in a way. "Aliens? Oh man," she said through her laughter. "I've honestly only heard that mentioned once. You sure know how to weird out some folks, Vulpus." As her laughter died down, she latched onto a part of his story. "A rock farm huh? Was it really as bad as they say?"

  11. Flux leafed through the pages of her favourite medium carefully, considering the words imprinted upon them carefully. Some would say that it was not the place of a less practiced devotee of a subject to question its seasoned members, but the mare questioned each and every fact. She wanted to get only the best proven information possible, which meant she had to occassionally sort through misinformation and weakly proved theses to obtain useable and tested knowledge. Hoofing was rarely a challenged source in her regard, but basing ones theorem upon a piece of information with a single flaw could shatter the complex design completely.

Distantly, she acknowledged a conversation between the new customer and Inkblot, but it was second to the object of her life's path. She knew that it was likely a bit impolite to read books before you purchased them, but she was merely taking a sample of their contents. The unicorn had gathered at least 4 books already and had mumbled several times about the neccesity to search for others. Tesla was busy with his own work, watching the raven who perched high above the ferret. He was already getting a bit bored staring at the bird, but he was still holding a fleeting interest in the avain.

  12. Another unicorn had found herself with an odd desire to leave her experiments for a time and get out into the city. Living on the outskirts, it was a tad difficult for anything except neccesity or the obtaining of more research material to pull the scientist from her basement laboratory. Her animal companion had scampered off for his nap, as most of his activities were nocturnal ones, so she had elected to take the journey into town alone. The clock tower had been much more functional lately, as her tutor Torvus had been restoring the old and rusted gears of the clock's mechanisms, and as it chimed noon the unicorn had gather all that she might need.

Closing the flap of her saddlebag with a quick formless bit of emerald magic, Quantum Flux stepped out onto the dirt road that lead into Canterlot. Being more of a night owl, due to both her childhood and her increased efficeincy durin gthe hours of darkness, Flux was not pleased to be greeted by the Sun's harsh rays. She trotted into the main section of grand marble and alabaster city with no clear objective in mind. The mare merely needed to clear her mind of the jumbles of formulas and chemicals for increased focus later on in the day. Absentmindedly, the unicorn headed toward the Canterlot Park. It was an odd destination if one wanted a place to clear their thoughts, but she noticed that the area near the expanse of clear water in the park was empty, save for one colt.

She completed her final hoofsteps by the edge of the grassland, just before in slanted down toward the marsh-like bank of the lake. Taking in a deep breath of air, Flux took in the sights and sounds of the land before her. Her work was nearly all-encompassing at times and getting outside was not something that she left was inmportant. Each time her mentor suggested it, she declared it a waste of time and proceeded to work on some new theory that had graced her mind. Today, however was the exception to the rule, as it seemed. She closed her eyes, trying to keep her mind blank of any scientific thoughts.

  13. Quantum Flux responded quickly, her words beginning in a rather rushed and surprisingly unprofessional tone for the unicorn scientist, but they smoothed out as she continued her words. "I have found it both immensely imformative and quite enjoyable. It should certainly assist me in my current projects. Corvus is quite well-mannered, my ferret here has an odd tendancy to take issue with any being that he is not familiar with. For that, the apology is mine. I also thank you for your co-operation thus far." As Tesla still watched the raven, the red-maned mare used a quick bit of levitational magic to remove him from his place in the carpet to a more portable location atop her saddlebags. With her companion in tow, Flux returned to the scientific section, both conducting futher investigation into the contents of her Equill Hoofing tome and a search for any other potentially helpful volumes. After all, the advantage of a bookstore was that the mare could keep the books indefinately for future reference.

As she telekinetically reached for a book that had caught her attention, the unicorn noticed a drop in temperature around the shop. She glanced around briefly, wondering if it was caused by a lamp flickering out, but her serach was fruitless. Flux choose to take the most logical choice of merely assuming it to be a draft from an open window or the opening of the door by a new customer, whose presence was announced by the ring of a bell. Though inquistive as to any change in her environment, most ponies did not wish to be interrupted during their perusal of literature and thus Flux left the temperature change and new arrival to the back of her mind.

  14. The purple earth pony turned her head back toward the colt as he laughed a tiny bit. Her head tilted out of an odd quirk of the mare's which had always been described as puppy-like by those who dared to speak so familiarily to her as she had known them before. Of course, in these times, everypony treated her like they would anypony else. With the recent exception of this colt. He seemed a bit nervous, as though some wrong tread would result in something terrible happening. She also noticed his interested looks in her direction, as though he was trying to determine as much about her as possible.

The thought almost made Wrong Note laugh, as it implied some air of mystery about her in her opinion. She assumed that a mare who spoke in song would likely be quite mysterious to the regular passerby, but it was an odd thought to consider. She did notice that the colt had an interesting physique for an aspiring model. It was one not oft seen, but still quite an easy one to work with. The earth pony had been given several long talks about the subject by her former stylist, Satin Lace, on many an occassion. However, she didn't want to stare and thus moved her gaze toward Survey's face as he requested the name of her hometown.

    "A big city indeed,

one with a high social creed.

    Manehatten by name,

creating many earth ponies of some fame."

  15. Flux nodded, considering the piece of writing as Inkblot described it. "Interesting. I do enjoy some fiction every once in a while as well. This one sounds rather interesting. A psychological overcoming wrapping inside a good survival adevnture. It appears like your tale will have at least one reader, Inkblot." She was completely sincere about it as well. After all, the best stories could tackle both deep and dramatic themes as well as old fashioned adventure style. It was really one of the making of a good novel in the eyes of the mare. "You must inform me of its release when such a thing does occur."

Tesla's eyes were fixed on the raven throughout the conversation, unblinkingly trying to decipher it. He hadn't met many birds who hadn't tried to eat him or such before and it was the perfect time to learn about them. As it was said, know your enemy. However, he was already concluding that not all birds liked to terrify small mammals after all.

  16. "Ooh, sneaky of you," she said, the grin on her face turning into one of playful teasing. "Though, I was always around just to see the reactions on everypon's face. Plus, the notoriety wasn't bad either." Mirage pondered the earth pony's question, wondering if any particular pranks would come to mind. "Aha! Here's one. It's a bit of a classic, but teachers fell for it left and right. It went a bit like this. You string a piece of...well...string through the door hinges. Then, you set up a bucket of water and some flour atop the door frame and attach them to the rope. Make sure it pulled tight and then wait for somepony to walk in. When they do, the string is pulled loose and down somes your makeshift batter." The mare giggled as she told the story, past memories surfacing as she explained. "What about you then, mister ninja master?"

  17. Did somebody say Doctor Who?

I totally love the show and I'm totally not going through Doctor Who withdrawl waiting for the next season, what are you talking about. When I first found it, I backtracked to Eccleson and watched up to Season Four, which was the current one at the time. Also, as Tennant was technically my first Doctor, I was pretty sad to see him go. However, I'm not quite sure why so many people dislike Matt Smith. I mean, Tennant is probably a hard act to follow, but I'm still digging the Eleventh Doctor.

However, I wasn't too fond of this year's Christmas Special. It may have been the beginning putting me off, but I just wasn't feeling it for that episode. Discussion, perhaps?

And, on a slightly off topic note, I really need to check the entertainment thread more. I'm suprised there are so many Whovian Bronies. Good suprised though. :smirk:

  18. Wrong Note was deliberate in keeping her eyes picked upward as she listened to the green unicorn speak. She was once again staring out at the lapping waves of the ocean, taking in the tranquility of her surroundings with all of her senses. Another thing I would have never appreciated if not for the curse, she acknowledged. However, she did not want to give off the impression that she wasn't listening to his words, so she ensured that there was an obvious sight of her attentiveness. It had been years since she last stood by a beach and then it was only for painful reasons. Sharing the beach with her current company was certainly a much more fitting memory for the beauty of the sea.

She found it interesting that a pony not born into the part would want to join the ranks of the modelling elite. Even Wrong Note herself had found the task rather dull as a filly. However, she supposed that everypony had their own wishes and talents and thus perhaps it was not so strange. His question caused the mare to give a small chuckle, realizing that her attire for the event had probably given him such an impression. When she had left Manehatten, the only clothing she could bring were the high society cocktail dresses and party gowns which she was used to wearing. She had slowly replaced her wardrobe over the years since, but one dress she had kept. It was a flowing midnight blue gown that had drawfed her when she had first seen it as a foal. It had been the dress in which she had performed her very last show, the final one before the curse took hold.

The mare couldnt merely abandon her past completely, so she kept the dress out of sentimentality rather than need. However, when she found herself drawn back toward the life she had left, if only for one night, the earth pony had supposed she may as well look the part. However, her reminiscing would not answer the Survey's question, so she began to sing her response once again.

"Not at all, my dear colt,

though I can see why that idea shone like a bolt.

I am a mere observer now,

though I used to be well-know of it in my hometown."

  19. Vulpus' smile only served to fuel her own. "Oh, Vulpus, you have no idea. I was infamous in Cloudsdale during my fillyhood as quite the experienced prankster. I was the bane of every teacher at Cloudsdale Flight School and I enjoyed every moment of it." She paused for some effect, but also to gather her own recollection of the events. "When I grew older, I of course found my talent and toned down the pranks, but I'm far from out of practice." She kept the grin wide on her muzzle, thinking back to the schoolyard antics which she had caused. Impulsiveness did give one a certain tendancy toward havoc, after all.

  20. "I'll keep that in mind," Flux replied, muzzle covered by the thick spine of the volume which she held. "Thank you, Inkblot." As the pegasus trotted off, Tesla peeked his head out from beneath the flap of the unicorn's saddlebag. He made his was out of the fastened bag and over to the area of carpet immediately in front of his owner. He looked up at the book, not understanding the words written there but knowing enough about his master to know that she wouldn't emerge anytime soon. Taking advantage of this time, he curled up in the fibres of the carpet, eager to get some undisturbed sleep.

However, a stray thought brought Quantum Flux from her engrossed reading. She closed the book gently, keeping it aloft in a bubble of magic that floated behind the mare as she trotted over to the maghogany desk she had noticed earlier. "Excuse the interruption, but you are writing a book, you say? Interesting. On what topic?"

  21. The snow-coloured unicorn nodded in response to his name, continuing to peruse the books that were house between the planks of wood that made up the shelf. The deep red carpet felt soft beneath her hooves, creating quite the homely atmosphere when combined with the lighting and scents of the place. She felt as though she could just curl up with one of the books she eventually found and have quite a relaxing time amongst the selection of texts contained within the walls of the shop. Flux noticed a name out of the corner of her eye. Equill Hoofing had completed the third volume of his anthology on the biology of pegasi. With another flash of telekinetic magic, the book was open and subject to inspection by the mare.

Hearing Inkblot's question, she responded quickly, picking up her head from skimming the book's contents. "My name Quantum Flux, Inkblot. But you may call me Flux if you so choose."
