  1. The doctor worked quickly, which surprised Cross-Stitch, this did re-enforce what he thought earlier about this stallion being very talented in his work. It reminded Cross-Stitch of himself when he would work on clothing, rapidly moving his hooves in an almost blinding speed when he really got into his craft. He never considered what it looked like from the other side, but it was stunning to say the least.

A nagging thought kept bothering Cross-Stitch though, the doctor continuously referred to his wife in past tense. Cross-Stitch could only expect the worse had happened to her, which brought his mood even lower. He wanted to get out of this place, or at least see something happy. The air was thick with sorrow, or at least that's how he felt.

He snapped out of his trance as he saw a hoof in front of him, brandishing some herbal mix that smelt and looked pleasant. "Oh, uh... Right." He leaned forward eating the herb with a bit of fear. He never really enjoyed any kind of medicine, whether it be natural or otherwise. This was a pleasant change though! It tasted like oranges mixed with many sweets. Cross-Stitch couldn't help but to say, "Wow," as he swallowed. As he felt the herb travel down his throat, he could feel a trail of heat left behind, warming him from the inside. The pleasant feeling in itself seemed to be bringing his mood back, brightening his coat and putting a shine back in his eyes.

Cross-Stitch looked up to Flitwink as he gathered some bandages to wrap his hoof back up, "Flitwin, Oh, my apologies," He cut himself off, "Doctor Flitwink," He corrected, "If you don't mind me asking..." He rubbed his healthy hoof against the sore spot, "Whatever happened to her?... Your wife, that is." He said. He didn't really think through why he asked, but his curiosity along with his elevated mood got the best of him.

  2. "Uh, Al-...Alright then." Cross-Stitch was quite, and pretty confused. He didn't even remember how he ended up resting on Flitwink's back, the doctor obviously had a lot of experience in his field to be so on his hooves at all times.

"Thank you, Doctor Flitwink. You're too kind." He talked quietly, still unsure about the situation. He was a shy pony by nature, to be suddenly so close to a stranger was a bit unnerving, but the presence of one who was obviously skilled at his trade did bring him a bit of comfort.

Cross-Stitch decided not to think about it, but rather decided to look down the hallway as they continued to their destination. Hospitals, to be a place of healing, always seemed so gloomy to Cross-Stitch. They seemed so... Colorless, lacking, cold. He found it hard to keep his mood up between the pain in his hoof and his surroundings. He looked down at his hoof, still bandaged poorly by his own handiwork.

  3. "Ah, I see." En Garde said as he nodded.

In En Garde's line of work, reading moves was a necessary skill, one that he had mastered. He could tell that Colton was keeping something a secret. Late night without an explanation, a pony or thing that he hoped to spend the day with. If that wasn't bad enough, he asked about the weather, which was a dead give-away.

En Garde raised an eyebrow, but before he could say anything the waitress arrived with their drinks. "Ah, thank you madam." He said as his cup was set down in front of him. He took a long sip from it as he continued to look at Colton with a skeptical look, "You're not a good liar." He finally said as he sat his cup down.

  4. "Indeed! It surprised me as well." He chuckled again, his laugh was warm.

He was noticing something though, something about Colton, "Forgive me for saying so, but you look positively exhausted, Colton." En Garde also began to notice the bird atop Colton's head. It was a sparrow if he wasn't mistaken, he also remembered Colton referring to the the bird as 'Sparks.' Perhaps a bird wouldn't be that bad of a pet. En Garde WOULD be alone in his new home, perhaps a pet was something he needed to help liven the place up, perhaps a hummingbird?

  5. "I've lived in Canterlot since I was born," He said as he took his seat, there was a menu in front of him, but he already knew what he wanted. "As for what made me want to move..." He said looking away, trying to think of where to start.

"Well, how about I continue my original story? Then you'll understand." En Garde took a breath in and let out a sigh, preparing himself for a lengthy story.

"I continued fencing ever since I got my cutie mark, you see. I won many tournaments, but in that time I began to realize why I was allowed to take the classes in the first place. My parents were using me for popularity since I was the top fencer in all of Canterlot." He looked down at the table, his eyes seemed a bit darker, "The matches stopped becoming fun. I was fighting for popularity now, not myself." He took another breath in and let it out, "So I quit." He said, quite bluntly. "I took a vacation in Ponyville during my 'hiatus' of sorts."

En Garde looked back up to Colton, his eyes seemed to be brighter now, "I had hear the town was itching with excitement and adventure with un-explainable things happening everyday!" His eyes lowered a bit again, "But nothing of the sort happened during my time there," He looked back up, "Except on the last day..." He seemed to be happy again, "While I was having a drink, a foal wearing a fencing mask approached me and challenged me to a duel. I couldn't help but to accept, seeing as deep down I still had a love for the sport." En Garde was lost in his thought again, imagining the day with perfect memory, "She was so skilled, almost as if we shared the same Cutie Mark. Of course, I was a bit rusty though, so I lost." He chuckled to himself, "It was fine though, because I had fun. She helped me remember the joy in fencing, and it made me want to share that joy." The waiter began to approach them, "So I decided to start a fencing school in Ponyville."

The waiter arrived, "Can I get you two anything?"

"The usual, please." En Garde said with a smile.

"Of course Garde, and you?" She turned to Colton.

  6. En Garde talked as he continued his peace, "Let's see... How about I start from the beginning?" It was obvious that he was getting excited again.

"I started fencing when I was very young, my mother and father took me to a tournament. I instantly became engrossed in the art. I practically begged my mother for classes for a week, I'm sure," He laughed, these memories were obviously precious to him, "She eventually allowed me to try fencing, and I picked it up in no time. After just a month of practice, I was in my first tournament," He let out a sigh, longing for those days of youth, "I won with relative ease, and that was when I earned my cutie mark."

The story seemed to take no time, but by the end of it, the two had already arrived. "Ah yes, here we are." En Garde moved to the door and held it open for Colton, "After you, friend."

  7. Her smile was very contagious, and very bright. Cross-Stitch couldn't help but find his own mood elevated. "You're quite welcome." He said as he went to a line of mannequin heads all adorned with hats of various sizes, styles and colors. He looked over them as he listened to Rose's story, finding it to be quite funny, "I couldn't imagine what it would be like. It was quite the opposite with me really, I was always the odd pony out." He remembered his days of foalhood. Other colts had cutie marks such as sports or construction, but he was a designer. Because of that, he was instantly grouped with the fillies. He sighed, but found his foalhood to be quite fun. In all honesty, he wouldn't have had it any other way.

"You and your compliments, do you ever run out of them?" He said, turning to Rose with a chuckle. He found her to be staring right at him though, looking right into his eyes with her own neon green eyes. The green color was contrasted perfectly with her coat and created an almost mesmerizing effect. Cross-Stitch was at a loss for words as he noticed a double-meaning to her sentence of 'eye-candy.' He began to feel a wave of heat roll over his face, but he turned away quickly.

"Hatwithabrim, right." He said, a bit too quickly. He cleared his throat before continuing, "Let's see what we have..."

One hat caught his eye, almost as if it was calling to him. He remembered the hat clearly, and he also remembered the day he made it. It was the day his father passed away, he could remember the rain pounding on the roof as he made the hat. He had to do something though, had to keep his body moving, as it kept his mind moving. He shook away the dark memory and looked at the hat through clearer eyes. Upon a closer look, it seemed to have some of that 'darkness' from that night in it, but yet he couldn't help but feel that it seemed to 'match' Rose.

"How about this?" He said, turning with the hat to show it to Rose. It was simple, yet stylish. It had a very wide brim about it, and a simple crimson ribbon that seemed to match Rose's coat to a tee. In retrospect, it was stunning how well the hat suited the pony, almost as if he had made it for her without knowing.

  8. Excuse me for the de-rail, but I just got asked this question and I must ask it here:

You can become any ONE of the following:

-A Saiyan, but your power level caps out at Raditz level

-A wizard, you also get to attend Hogwarts

-A Jedi with the choice to become a Sith

-A ninja, but your power caps out somewhere around Neiji at the end of the original series

    -A Poke'Mon Trainer, Poke'Mon become real

In other news, Pokemon and Jedi are accepted as real words by Google Chrome spell check.

  9. "Fencing is a fine art!" He said as he finished purchasing his food, "It takes concentration, speed, and reflexes." His speech sped up and became louder, obviously signifying he was getting excited about the topic, "A true test of one's wit against another!" En Garde was mentally shadow-dueling in his head, thinking through his movements and strikes as he stared off into the distance.

A jingle snapped him out of his fantasy world, it was Colton opening the door. En Garde looked over to find Colton politely holding the door open for him. En Garde packed his things and walked out of the door, "Thank you, sir." He said, bowing his head. It was so nice to see politeness and kindness, it made his heart soar with joy. "You know what they say Colton, the early bird gets the worm! So to speak, of course."

En Garde put a hoof to his chin, looking around the town. "Hmm... I do have one place in mind." He said as he began to trot away, "It's not far from here, perhaps I could entertain you with some fencing tales?"
