1. Initial thoughts: Great episode, with a decent moral and great shout outs like Scootaloos nightmares looking like the otherworld from Silent Hill.

I got a few good laughs and overall enjoyed it.

Though the title of this episode is a total lie.

    Also:

    PRINCESS LUNA!

  2. You still then have to prove whether Celestia herself is responsible for covering up everything related to the Crystal Empire or if incompetent pony historians are to blame instead. Maybe Equestrian scholars thought the Crystal Empire was just a mere footnote in history or even an outright fabrication?

As for the author of that book Twilight read in the pilot's intro, maybe it just just a quirk of that particular writer to not mention Celestia's name? Anypony in Twilight's time with a brain could have figured it out that the princess who controlled the sun back then (according to the book) was meant to be Celestia. Maybe other sources concerning the historical Nightmare Moon (which Twi didn't read) actually refer to Celestia and Luna by name?

Twilight certainly didn't disregard Nightmare Moon as a mere legend when she first read up on her. In Equestria, there's always a good possibility that an old pony tale just might be true.

Wait a minute first you are saying what a dumbass you think Twilight is then praise her\ for being booksmart?

    Can you be consistent please?

  3. I think Twilight just does a poor job of studying history; why else did it take her until the eve of the Summer Sun Celebration to learn all about the Nightmare Moon legend? Additionally, it might have been extremely hard for historians to distinguish reality from myth, given the nature of the world of Equestria. In short, I don't blame Celestia for how history always seems presented as if it was being made up as the writers went along.

Well Twilight was obviously well versed in such matters, she just seems to loose herself to her overlooking a few things.

Plus she cant be blamed for not knowing stuff if its not written down, if books are Equestrias biggest educational resource how can you know something that is not written down or told to you?

There is no TV in their world, no computers either so most knowledge they have is either written down or passed on,

  4. Its pretty clear that Equestrias history has more holes in it then the entire changeling race combined, there is a LOT tnat has seemed to have been muted or omitted from pony history.

Take the story of the royal sisters, as I pointed out in another thread:

The names of both Celestia and Luna are missing from the book Twilight read in the series opener, one can guess it was an omission by the pony who wrote the books on Nightmare moon, it happens all the time in human history where the real facts are covered up and or exaggerated to tell a good story.

Take for example the story of George Washington and him crossing the Delaware, often times this is thought of as a triumph but it was actually the end of a tactical blunder that Washington made but made triumphant because in the end Washington regrouped and became victorious later on.

Its well known that history is written by the victor, and due to the passage of time things may have muddled and became mixed up.

Clear evidence of this is Nightmare Night.

Plus its possible that Celestia did not divulge information mainly because the memories were painful to her.

Then combine my own theory that the history of Luna and Celestia was mucked about over time and you can see where things might be problematic when learning what happened 1000 years ago.

It was right there in the pilot, the only way she knew that Luna and Celestia were the ones in her book is because Celestia told her (sort of).

But once more this seems to be more of the fault of the books Twilight read as opposed to Twilight being as stupid as people are suggesting.

But it makes one wonder why the books didnt specify that the two princesses were indeed Celestia and Luna and they both have lived for 1000 years imprisoned on the moon or otherwise.

It seems that these facts were either omitted, forgotten about over time or covered up.

If they were omitted then why were they omitted or covered up?

Was it because Celestia wanted to bury her past and try to move on?

Its understandable if that is the case as after all the fight with her sister must have been traumatic for Celestia, her sister and closest friend was corrupted and made evil and Celestia must have hated doing what she did to Luna.

It had seemed the story about them was no longer fact though and faded into legend so the truth of what happened must have faded into legend as well.

Do consider that the ponies might have thought the name Celestia was a family name and not the same Celestia that fought Nightmaremoon, the other ponies seem to live more mortal lives as we have seen elderly ponies and possibly even a funeral so and ts plausible that Celestia had little to no contact with her subjects and is only now starting to warm up meeting her subjects.

Right now the whole thing is unclear of what happened to muddle the history and the story to the point it became almost like a fairy tale.

What I meant by "Well it was right there in the pilot, the only way she knew that Luna and Celestia were the ones in her book is because Celestia told her (sort of)." was that Twilight only finally realized that the books she had read on Celestia and Luna, the legend of the elements and etc were all tied together at the end when she overheard Celestia call Nightmaremoon/Luna "sister" in the series opener.

This once again indicates that neither Luna or Celestia are mentioned in the books she read by name, that for some reason the names of the two sisters were omitted.

How could Twilight know that Luna and Celestia were the ones in the book?

There is a lot of mystery on how and why this part of history was smudged over and no one knew about the connection to the story or considered an old mares tale by Twilights time.

Another good indicator of a lost history is that we have not heard the whole story of the early days of Equestria, like how Discord came to power, how the princesses came to power.

Then there is the aforementioned Nightmare night that seemed to have mutated just enough that the legend of Nightmare moon that it became its own strange thing

Then recently there was the tale of the Crystal Empire that also was omitted from history by Celesita herself.

Makes you wonder how Equestrias history became so muddled and altered other then possibly that it was Celestia herself who did it.

Which brings me to my other half of the discussion, is Celestia boarderline evil?

I know its a common Brony joke to make Celestia a power crazed despot but is it actually somewhat true?

After all it was Celestia who seemed to withhold information about the Crystal empire and its possible she may have done more then that as it seems to be she has the final say in such matters.

I am not saying she is the ultimate evil that most Bronies say she is but there is something strange about her almost every time we learn more about her, something off and maybe even a little wicked.

Its still hard to say but it almost seems like that way if she really is mucking about with the known history of her kingdom and the world around it.

  5. Question: why did nonpony in the Mane Six think to bring the Elements of Harmony along for the trip to the Crystal Empire? It would have made handling Sombra a much easier affair, being able to just blast rainbows at the king until he gets vanquished like Nightmare Moon and Discord did.

Maybe because it was noted the magic of the empire itself was very powerful, in fact it might have been more powerful then the elements considering how Sombra got his end

  6. Today is the final video in the pony a day project.

Today is Fluttershy and her song "Dear Prudence" by the Beatles.

The song was originally about Prudence Farrow sister to actress Mia Farrow

She became an isolated recluse and the song was meant to lure her out so she would not be alone and take her meditations too seriously.

But the song fits Fluttershy so well, with its mellow beat, its sweet lyrics and overall tone.

The lines "The sun is up, the sky is blue, it's beautiful, and so are you" seem to fit Fluttershy so well too.

Again a remake, and the last vid of the project.

  7. The Pony a day project continues with Rarity

This video is actually NOT a remake for a change but a total redo as I found a new song for Rarity.

The song I chose this round is "Lady" by Styx, last years song "Diamonds are forever" by Shirly Bassey was appropriate at the time but as Rarity has grown on me as a character I gave her a longer song to fill the bill.

This one may be blocked in Germany, I am in the copyright claim rebuttal process.

  8. Today is day 4 with Rainbow Dash featuring the song Push it to the Limit by Paul Engemann..

Finding a song for Rainbow Dash was both easy and hard at the same time as most of the songs about speed and power were already used for her such as Danger Zone by Kenny Loggins.

I wanted a similar song to that, something about pushing limits as Rainbow Dash does.

I did not want anything from Rocky, or Karate Kid... Too predictable so I went with something not sports related however something that sounds like it could have been made for a sports movie and so this song came to mind.

Yes Push it to the limit is a song written for a movie about a drug dealing gangster, Scarface.

And yet has nothing to do with that, it sounds like a song you would put in a Rocky movie so thats why I used it here.

Out of the box thinking a little here.

Again a remake of last years vid.

  9. Today is day 3 with Applejack featuring the song Redneck Woman by Gretchen Wilson.

This was a challenge for me, Applejack being a southern type character needed me to do something (sigh) country music in nature.

The idea here was to use a different music form for each of the characters.

For Twilight Sparkle something light rock is fitting

For Pinkie Pie the hip hop music style is fitting

For Rainbow Dash something hard rock or high tempo

For Rarity something that is sad but romantic in nature

and for Fluttershy something soft and mellow.

So I elected on this song for Applejack, Redneck woman as even though Applejack is not a pure redneck the song does represent her more rough and tumble nature, her simple attitudes towards fashion and her general outlook on things.

I didnt want anything too "twangy" or too old, just a fun sounding country song that I think I did a rather humorous job with.

And it suits Applejack overall, again this is a remake of last years video.

  10. Today is day 2 with my Pinkie Pie video featuring the song (You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (to Party!) By The Beastie Boys

Pinkie Pie was introduced second in the main 6 (well technically as she did give a big GASP!)so I have her up on day 2.

I wanted a song about well... Parties

The classic party goers anthem by the Beastie Boys was a rather obvious choice for Pinkie, and a good one too.

The song fits her wild and crazy nature and sings to the party going prankster in all of us.

I did not line up as many songs for her as I knew exactly what song would fit pinkie, sure I could have chosen "jump around" by House of pain but I thought this song was more appropriate.

Again its essentially the same video as I did last year but updated with season 2 footage.

  11. The countdown has begun, with only six days left its time to pull out an old project of mine.

Last year when I tried to do a pony video every day until the season premiere, but it was cut short due to copyright takedowns and blocks of my videos

Well I am trying it again and this time I got protection by covering my ass in a copyright disclaimer and trying to give proper credit to the original record companies.

Also this year Youtube does seem not as fidgety with its copyright ****.

Now in case you were not around at the time or forgot here is the description of Day one:

The Pony a Day Project is a showcase of each one of the main 6 characters of My Little Pony Friendship is Magic and will end when season 3 premieres.

This is essentially a re try of what I did last year for the season 2 premiere but this time I am armed with a copyright disclaimer so that youtube wont get on my case.

Today is day 1 with my Twilight Sparkle video featuring the song Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic by Sting and The Police .

I wanted to do a video that had something to do with magic and the enchanting nature of the character.

Now there were many songs to consider such as David Bowie's "Magic Dance"

But that song has already been done twice now by the Bronies out there so I wanted to have something different.

I have also considered Lovin Spoonfuls "Do you believe in magic?" but it is too short, and even the Jimmi Hendrix song "Purple haze" and I almost went with it...

But no this song suits Twilight Sparkle quite a bit.

Its essentially the same video as I did last year but updated with season 2 footage.

    The video:

  12. Well... Apple: MacOS, iOS... Microsoft, MS-DOS? sounds good, back to C:\DOS> C:\DOS>RUN RUN\DOS\RUN I don't know what could go wrong... :?:

Well it is kind of strange the Windows name has stayed around for this long anyway, after all the name Windows is short for Windowed DOS.

And Windows has not used DOS as a basis for ages, not since Windows ME.

The Windows NT os is the basis for more modern windows OS, the NT operating systems, Windows 2000, XP, Vista, 7 and yes even 8.
