The only person who I have told was... shocked. But we went camping last weekend, and watched... about 11 episodes, with him begging me to stay up later at night and watch them with him! He is also a brony now.

Not bad... I did not think they were amazing, but they were quite good.

2 somethings which sound nasty but are nice:

Juice of lemon + copious amounts of sugar + hot water. Drink up!

Coffee shots + small amount of ice cream. Yum.

Also, Lemon frosting is really, really nice.

Eh, okay

Rice cream

1/2 cup rice (Jasmine, Basmati, etc)

1/4 cup sugar

1L of milk (I think its about 2pts)

Vanilla to taste (extract, essence or bean if you are fancy-pants)

Cream

Place rice, sugar, milk and Vanilla in a baking pot. Medium oven, stir every so often. takes about 40-45 min. When done, take out from oven and mix in cream.

Eat while really hot.

Smoked cod pies (orange fish!)

750g smoked cod (good supermarket or fish monger)

2 cups milk

1 lime

2 fennel sprigs

3 fennel bulbs

60g butter

1 thinly sliced leek, white bit only

1/4 cup plain flour

1 tbsp whole grain mustard (or more, if you like. MOAR!)

1 cup fish or chicken stock

1/2 cup white wine

1 egg, beaten

Puff pastry

put cod in heavy based pan with milk, fennel sprigs and peeling from lime. Slowly bring to boil, then simmer for 10min or until fish flakes easily. Remove cod and discard milk. Allow cod to cool before breaking cod into large flakes, removing skin and bones.

thinly slice fennel bulbs and heat butter and olive oil in heavy bottomed pot. Fry off flour and mustard, cook until bubbly. Add fennel, leek and continue to fry untill soft. Remove from heat, add stock and wine, mixing thoroughly. Return to heat, cook for a few min before adding cod. Done.

Allow to cool before making into pies, brush egg on top of pastry. Remember to grease pans! Cook in moderate oven until pastry is golden.

Supposedly serves four, but makes about 8-12 pies. I think.

Chicken, chorizo and veg soup.

Olive oil

200gm bacon, thick and smoky preferably, 1cm diced

3 onions, 1cm diced

2 carrots, 1cm diced

2 celery stalks, 1cm diced

1 chorizo, 1cm diced (good supermarkets)

4 chicken thigh fillets, 2cm diced

3 cloves, crushed

1 400g can crushed tomatoes

3 cups chicken stock

1 cup tempesta or other small pasta

1 400g tin cannellini beans, rinsed and drained

baby spinach (handful, or to taste)

Heat oil in heavy bottomed pan. Cook bacon over moderate-high heat untill it starts to colour. Add onions, carrot, celery and cook for 10 min. Then add chorizo, chicken and garlic and cook until chicken becomes opaque. Add tomatoes, stock and season to taste. Boil, then reduce to moderate heat for 10min. add pasta, peas and beans and cook until pasta is ready. remove from heat and stir though spinach.

serve, nice with bread and cheese.

I don't really do deserts much... just MOAR rice cream.

So, I introduced a friend to MLP. Funny story actually, I spend about three days stressing over how to introduce it to him, then when we were writing lists for 40k, he was taking an age so I started watching pony (muted).

Anyway, we watched Lesson Zero and he made some intresting... observations. I told him it was awesome, the names of the mane 6 and one or two sentences about them all.

• When I was explaining that it was MLP, he did not seem to understand that it was My Little Pony. Made by hasbro. He thought that it was made by fans.
  
• when he saw AJ, the very first thing he said was: "so she's a hick...".
  
• He really, Really liked Dashie. According to hm, she is best pony.
  
• His mouth droped open when he saw Fluttershy "killing" the bear.
  
• He liked spike's toungy removal of icing. and the whole scene with Mrs cake and the cupcakes.
  
• he diddnt really like pinkie much (kinda unfair, she said about... four things)
  
• The only thing he really liked about Rarity was the couch.
  

So, anyway. What have been people's inital reactions to pony?

What you could do (in theory at least) would be to get thick dowl (depending upon the size of the squares) and cut it so the hight showed what the peices were. Thin, checker like discs for pawns, thicker ones for knights, ect. Then you could put a small magnet (to stop the picture from sliding off) and use another section of dowl with a pic of the pony on top. So you have the actual playing piece, as well as a disc with the pony on top.

It was quite good, yet it didn't quite feel finished. It seemed to be an intro to a larger game, almost as if apple bloom would go back into ponyville, hang around there for a bit before something darker. It really surprised me when it ended.

I just don't really care about the CMC. The one that I care the most about is the chicken, but the only reason for this is because we dont know anything about her. And her love of dash is hilarious. While Apple Bloom is funny on occasion and Sweety Belle is kinda cute, I guess...

I dont dislike them, I just... meh. I would rather see them doing random stuff in the background than having episodes about them.

I just prefer episodes about twilight, or even the rest of the mane 6.

Towards the end you made some insightful comments, also having some wit with your structure of some of your sections. If you are able to make the whole show more like the end section (IE, not going over simple things about the characters), I will quite happily watch the show.

I doubt that an episode like this would eventuate.

I dunno- the writers have surprised me before, so I do think that they could make an episode maturely discuss those types of things.

I think that weather their foals are earth ponies, unicorns or Pegasuseseseses is depending upon their heritage. This would explain families usually being one type of pony (the apples, I think that Rarity's parents were both unicorns, were they?), but still allow families to have other ponies as kids.

Perhaps several hundred years ago it would be uncommon for ponies to have different kids, but I would imagine that the family lines would have become squiggly. Thus ponies would have different types of ponies for relatives.

Love and tolerate. That been said, I think that you are completely wrong, It is a fantastic movie but Mononoke Is (in my view) simply such a better film. The whole idea behind Mononoke is that war is useless, horrid and meaningless. No one wins, only survives. Spirited away is about 'discovering yourself' and being brave. While I do agree that there are some sense in Spirited away that are brilliant, unless somepony has an overwhelming argument or points out something that I missed, I will likely prefer Mononoke.

The only thing I would hasten to add is if you try to encourage people to watch the show do not force them. Not everyone will like it, regardless of how fantastically-amazingly-stupendously-brilliant the show is. Dont shove it down their throats, this is a sure path to them despising it; even if they know not why they do.

Even with all the reassurances, logic and gentle encouragement, some bronies (myself included) will not feel comfortable 'coming out'.
