Behind her back? She wasn't even part of the show's staff anymore officially in season two. What one intended in the beginning is great but that doesn't make it canon.

Actually in Season 2 she was still a Consulting Producer, so she was still a part of the show in Season 2. Season 3 is the first time she hasn't been a part of the show.

What consistency? It was never stated in the series anywhere that Luna and Celestia were the only alicorns. In fact they never really established in the show's mythology what an alicorn really is or where they come from, or what makes one. The fandom just filled in the details themselves in headcanon.

It was pretty clear that Lauren Faust intended Luna and Celestia to be the only Alicorns. Princess Cadance was supposed to only be a unicorn, she was changed to an Alicorn behind her back.

I don't see this situation hurting the show. Many shows have suffered because they are unwilling to make changes and become stale. Twilight can still encounter friendship problems and the change opens new opportunities for stories. Being an alicorn also doesn't mean she automatically gets put into power someplace and has to leave Ponyville. Cadence spent the majority of her life not ruling anything. Even if Twilight ends up a ruler we still get to watch that story unfold

Well to be fair, Cadance is The Crystal Princess, so she does rule over The Crystal Empire.

There's no guarantee that Princess Twi will live the rest of her days in Canterlot just yet. With any luck, she'll keep her residence in the good ole' library tree that we all love.

So here's my view on the whole Alicorn Twilight reveal that we had today. Honestly I don't really buy the whole 'Twilight been on this grand journey from the beginning' that Meghan McCarthy is trying to sell us on. The reason I don't buy that is that it's pretty clear that Faust's original vision was that only Celestia and Luna were the Alicorns. This was pretty evident when she said that Cadance was originally supposed to be a unicorn but DHX changed it at the last minute.

I also always got a 'The Next Starswirl The Bearded' vibe from Twilight Sparkle TBH. I mean she's a huge fan of Starswirl and she comes off as more of a Merlin type of character more than anything else. Always studying, always learning magic, always the one the other ponies go to for guidance and help.

I think the line by Donna Tobin, MLP Brand Director is also worrying because it means that the thing that made MLP:FiM unique may be chipped away at. The last time I'd want or any brony would want is the show to revert back to Generation 3.5. *shudders*

I'll watch the season finale of course and as always I'll hope for the best, but I think the writers stumbled a bit in Keep Calm and Flutter On, an episode that should've been better. So while the writing staff is still very much capable of putting out top shelf material, they do have a chink in their armor.

You're not the only one having the same trouble. I've purchased and downloaded the episode and I'm having the same problem as well. I'm playing the episode through my home theatre system (Apple TV with the optical audio component connected directly to my Sony 5.1 Amplifier unit) and I can clearly hear the cluck.

Sounds like we need to either contact iTunes, DHX or both.

So I downloaded the episode off of iTunes, and around the 16:44 mark (or around there) Scootaloo clucks instead of saying Canterlot. Well after that, the voice and the animation falls out of sync for the rest of the episode. Has anyone else had this problem with the iTunes download?

So I actually was able to get my hand on issue 1 today, and I love it! Def. can't wait for issue #2!

Awesome episode was awesome!! My favorite Princess got some serious screen time and actually played a role instead of just being shoved in there. Also, her being the Goddess of dreams, YES! Also, Scootaloo being adopted by Rainbow Dash is now canon. I give this episode 8/10!

Best line came from Snips and Snail in my opinion.

"I preferred it when she was just a fraud."

That line did make me laugh.

At this point if you can't find it, you're likely SOL. There is a second printing in December. Preorder through your local comic shop. Or get an iTunes and DL it there.

I think the opening scene was the Stephen King reference, not sure, although it did remind me of the opening scene in Gremlin.

Is it me or was the corruption of Trixie really subtle? She just acted like her old egomaniac self.

Loved both magic duel, but I gotta agree that R63 is not canon, simply because that's Big Mac, not a true R63 AJ.

I gotta agree with some of the others, for a kids show, this was dark. However, still not as dark as Party of One or Lesson Zero.

Zecora can do hoof magic? I can see soooooo many fanfic of Earth ponies doing this kind of magic now.

All in all a great episode and my favorite one of this season!
