hi hi
I think I've figured it out! ...the element that I was missing I mean. They foreshadowed the resolution way in advance when Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash were brought to the buffalo camp.
Spike says that the buffalo respect dragons, but ponies not so much when he is given a delicious bowl of turquoise and the other two are given mushy slop. So in the context of this episode, giving good food is a sign of genuine respect. So it is no coincidence that giving good food is part of the solution, because it is a way for the settler ponies to show that they genuinely respect their neighbors.
Holy horse apples that's deep... kinda wish I'd thought of that.

Yeah, I was going to wait, but I eventually got bored and decided to watch part 1 anyway.
-
"Dear Princess Celestia,
Today I learned to never let Pinkie Pie sing, ever again.
Your faithful student,
Twilight Sparkle"
-
And now, my comments on the episode: That G-rated western gunfight at the end? Best. Scene. EVER. I'm totally making a pieslinger pony at some point. (Dibs on the idea!)
And really Pinkie, how did you expect them to react to that song? I expected better, even from you =P

We're saved! Praise Trixie! =D
-
I think this video accurately describes how I feel about waiting for part 2 of Over a Barrel.
-
So, I finally broke down and watched part 1. (Hehe... "Y'know she's not a tree, right?") And now I'm stuck not knowing how the episode ends! What to do?
What would Fluttershy do? ...Panic? Maybe. What about Pinkie Pie? Spontaneously burst into a song about waiting? ...I don't know any songs about waiting, I'd need to write one myself. Too much work. Twilight? Read a book on waiting? ...Yeah, I'm pretty sure there's no such book. Rainbow Dash would probably just charge in and attack, but I don't see how that applies to this situation. Rarity... start whining and crying on the forums until part 2 gets posted? Nah, you guys don't deserve that. Applejack.. eh, no idea what she'd do.
I guess I'll just hide under my bed for now. Fluttershy would approve.

I didn't have any luck coloring it, so here it is uncolored:
(Sure, it's not very good, but I'm not expecting to win or anything.)
-
I've decided to put this character on the back burner for now, and revisit it later; instead, here's what I feel is a more interesting concept:
-
Welcome =)
-
Moved to General OOC Chatter; this doesn't really fit in 'Creativity'.
My bad =)
Anyhoo, I'm about to edit the first post, to clarify a few things. [EDIT]
-
I could draw a floor plan for you... provided that the rooms were all rectangular, I had a good idea of where they're all are supposed to be relative to each other, and the exterior isn't too detailed. If that's the case, send me a PM with specifics. Otherwise, it'd probably be beyond my level of skill.
-
Why yes, it was a Monty Python reference! I was sorely tempted to include the name Tim in there somewhere (maybe crossed out), but I guess you noticed it anyway =)
-
I know how you feel; I've been waiting for two or three days now. Hopefully they'll be done fixing stuff soon. For now, I guess I'll practice my IC introduction on you. *ahem*
Grrrreetings, fair villager! I.. am a drifter, a.. Mysterious Stranger, if you will. I.. am known.. by many names. There are those.. who call me.... Cinnamon.
-
So, you're name's "Gem", eh? Just watch out for Diamond Dogs!
...Now that the pun's out of the way, Fluttershy is hands-down my favorite. The episode where she stares down that dragon saw to that. And she'd totally be a better narrator than Morgan Freeman. She'd be a better anything than anyone. She's just better than you.
Anyhoo, welcome to the forum =) Glad to meet you.

While I'm waiting for apps to re-open, would anypony like to comment on my character? Just keep any criticism constructive. (Also, I'm currently looking for a picture in the Request section.)
[ Pony Related Character ]
Name: Cinnamon
Gender: Female
Age: Filly (about 19)
Species: Earth Pony
Pelt Color: Brown
Mane/Tail Color & Style: Red; bangs cover one eye
Eye Color: Red
Cutie Mark: A set of four horseshoes
Physique: small but agile
Residence: None; wanders across Equestria, occasionally stopping to resupply; Ponyville is her original hometown
Occupation: Drifter / Adventurer / Mysterious Stranger; Travels from place to place, looking for adventure and occasional work to pay for supplies; also likes to send groups of other ponies on quests (Private RPs)
Motivation: Wants to see and experience everything Equestria has to offer. Her cutie mark represents her desire for travel and adventure.
Likes:
Action - exploration, adventuring, fighting monsters... anything exciting!
Danger - everything's better when there's a little risk involved!
Tabletop games - to be perfectly honest, Cinnamon takes fantasy tropes way too seriously, sometimes to the point where it seems like she thinks she's in a tabletop game.
Dislikes:
Boredom - Cinnamon is afflicted with a sort of wanderlust, causing her to leave when things start to get dull
Predictability - this ties into her love of danger; she doesn't like it when the outcome of a scenario is too obvious; on the other side of the coin, she generally won't commit to a no-win scenario
Ponies who make fun of her name - she feels that "Cinnamon" isn't a very good name for an adventurer, and is determined to make the best of it... by calling out anypony who makes fun of her name.
Character Summary: Ever since Cinnamon was a little foal, she loved nothing more than playing pretend. Exploring forests, climbing mountains, fighting dragons... anything exciting and more than a little dangerous. Her older brother, Cumin, introduced her to Hydras & Hippogriffs, a popular tabletop game, and she loved it. Soon Cinnamon was Game Mastering sessions of H&H with all of her friends.
Eventually, Cinnamon reached the age when all ponies start to worry about their cutie marks. Her solution? Wander off into the Everfree Forest with camping supplies and a week's worth of food, all without telling anypony. Her friends and family were terrified - they had no idea where she was, or where to find her. A week later, Cinnamon calmly trotted right back into Ponyville, sporting a shiny new cutie mark and wondering why everypony was so upset.
Now she has started to wander the land, hoping to experience all sorts of excitement. She is almost never seen without her hooded black traveling cloak.
-
Sure, go for it! =)
-
Well, you're already better equipped to contribute than I am; I can't draw! Anyhoo, welcome =)
-
Normally I'd say "welcome", but it seems you've been on this forum longer than I have, so... Ah, screw it: Welcome! =)
-
How verbose! I feel inadequate...
Anyway, welcome to the forum! I'd talk about how addicted to MLP:FiM I am, but I'd just be repeating parts of what you just so expertly phrased =)
-
Thanks for the welcome, everypony! It's great to meet you all. I'm really looking forward to RPing with you ponies =)

I'm preparing a character for when apps re-open, and a pic would be really helpful. Here's what I have so far for my sheet:

Could anypony come up with an image of Cinnamon (and maybe an avatar picture of just the head)?

Y'know, somepony over at Equestria Daily is writing a FiM campaign setting for Pathfinder:

I'm really looking forward to seeing how it turns out! [EDIT]
-
Honestly, FiM is the most well-done cartoon I've ever watched. I can't say I'm familiar with the previous generations of MLP, though.
Speaking of images, I really should find an picture for Cinnamon. Maybe ask around on the image request section here. Anyhoo... when you get the campaign going, look me up! =)
Don't mind me. I'm just a shrub.

Guilty! See, I told you these ponies were addictive =P
I know you like RPing, so I hope you like it here. Good luck with your character! Hopefully some other bronies (which is, apparently, a gender-neutral term) will be along shortly to help out. The only real advice I can give is this: If you need help, ask someone.
