  1. I am sorry, but the argument you are trying to make, while passionate, is flawed. You come across as one who is attempting to force your own standards onto others, and that is something I simply cannot agree with.

This, for example, is a terrible state of mind to live with. People do not and should not have to justify their personal choices to anyone else. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, regardless of the principals upon which they are founded. You may not agree with these opinions or the reasonings behind them, but to simply dismiss said opinions because they do not meet your idiosyncratic expectations is rather silly.

Right - Love and Tolerance - If people don't like the show then - They just don't like the show.

Hmmmm or I could lead a Brony army on a crusade of fan driven fury against all the non belivers? Yeah let's do this!

    Wait wait wait

    new episode tomorrow

    *cancels war*

  2. Ahh I was thinking this just the other day! I do think Celestia is the god in the pony world... which makes me sad because she is my least favourite character precisely because she is like pony god.. I actually really dislike her as a character.

I look upon Celestia as being the less cool Princess (Luna is far better in my opinion, and sweeter, and modest.. and generally all-round awesomer).

I look upon Celestia as being the main source of anxiety in the form of a character. Twilight has had panic attacks over her which lasted a full episode (Lesson Zero of course - though I did love that episode all the same!) And ponies freak out if things aren't perfect for her arrival. Ugh.

Celestia is a source of fear for the ponies, although she isn't all-knowing, being as she relies on the mane 6 to present her with new lessons on friendship.

After writing that you may want to pack warm. :)

  3. I still think Derpy was done perfectly and that everything fits appropriately. I also feel that this may be unprecedented for the impact that fans have had on a show. Being a Trekkie I know that communication from these shows is usually a one way street.

Here we have one that's responsive to the community of fans! It boggles the mind. Certainly a sign of the times.

  4. I read it and immediately thought that to someone who doesn't have children or hasn't experienced many personal family tragedies this would be a very big deal to them emotionally. I do have children and my oldest is 19 and about to leave home so I can definitely relate to the story.

Unfortunately I wasn't really drawn in and I did find some of the story a little 'forced' - real life plays out a little differently but of course it's a story mixed with fantasy to begin with. As far as dealing with the thought of loss and separation I had to literally bury my mother in the morning at one funeral home and then drive 25 miles and bury my brother and his wife a few hours later. Of course when I say 'bury' i mean go to the funeral.

So the story to me was sweet - lovely in fact and I hope all the young bronies who read it and get a small taste of what real life will bring to them inevitably as kids get older and leave home or as loved ones pass away. I've actually corresponded w/ the author and he's a great guy. There's a really nice image of RD hugging someone that goes along w/ it.

  5. hi hi

So let me get this straight. You've started a topic about a frequently heated and divisive topic because you want people to argue about it less?

Wait let me get this straight - you used the word straight and a cute little RD in the same sentence? *looks* oh yes you did - carry on then :D

I prefer to use the word Alicorn - didn't know Piers Anthony coined it - Xanth I'm guessing?

hmm that term is now 20% cooler for me

  6. I think the vast majority has been overwhelmingly positive about Derpy's character. What we have is a very vocal minority trying to dictate the pace of things. Over time they will fade into the background that Derpy once inhabited.

There's nothing wrong with the way they did the character - loveable and humorous

Wouldn't Derpy have trouble with Depth Perception due to being wall-eyed? Derpy says that we love someone regardless of their flaws - how is that possibly a negative message in any way possible? Some people just enjoy trolling.

Also - Is Derpy made of Nokia-ium? Derpy has been shown to be the only force in the known universe that can break a Nokia - and when Derpy sat down in the scene she crashed through the floor. I propose that Derpy is made of the same material as the Nokia Adamantium Vibranium Phone.

Somepony draw Derpy butt bumping Superman and sending him flying lol :D

  7. Nope, just a name I've been using for years on Yugioh forums that just stuck. I keep in contact with a good number of people I've met from various forums over the last three years or so now, so I've just kept the same username so everyone calls me the same thing on Skype, lol. The username itself was just something random to begin with (I think it was inspired from Elemental Hero Absolute Zero, iirc xD).

I'm usually HaouJudai on other forums - He was the Supreme King in Yugioh GX - I liked how his character was angry at death. Oh I'm trying to track down an artist to commission a custom image of the Mane 6 as the OMNI HEROs (Zero, Gaia, Tornado, Shining, Nova and Darkness) I think I'll start with Rarity as Zero - or Shining as Fluttershy (I think this needs a topic)

My first episode was Hearth's Warming Eve - I immediately fell in love w/ Pinkie Pie - I also have curly hair irl so puddinghead fits - Chancellor because I'm so old by comparison to most forum dwellers (though not so much in brony circles I'm seeing)

  8. When you commision a piece of pony artwork from an artist.

Start naming your pokemon/trainer after characters from the show (Guilty as charged on this one)

Which artist? John Joseco? I've been trying to get up with him. (want a custom image of Rarity as Elemental Hero Absolute Zero)

Oh and you know you're an MLP:FIM fan when you are in the checkout line at target buying a $15 MLP:FIM fleece throw with Celestia and Twilight Sparkle on it and the cashier asks: "is this for you daughter" and you ( by that I mean 'me') replies: " No it's for me - My Little Pony is the best dang show on tv today "

  9. I noticed this too, and it perfectly fits with my headcanon.

that AJ's parents are definitely dead, but Applejack herself was young when it happened and Apple Bloom was only an infant. Big Mac is really the only one of the siblings old enough to remember them, and so I say that's why he cries.

I would have to agree after seeing that - it has changed my mind - I agree - they have passed away.

  10. hi hi

I'm personally of the view that Celestia isn't a god, though she certainly has divine qualities. But then again, depending on who you ask, we all have some degree of divinity in us. Ordinary ponies in Equestria are a little bit like gods themselves, controlling the weather, making the plants grow, etc. etc. I mean, there are some cultures that believe their ruler is a god, but I'm pretty sure the pharaohs of ancient egypt weren't really gods.

If I were to make an analogy myself, I would say that Celestia is something more along the lines of King Arthur or a monk who has attained enlightenment. Definitely not your average pony, but there's no evidence that she created the world or anything like that.

Anyway, there's lots of phrases that invoke a higher power without referring to a deity. Here's a couple from hollywood and life.

    • "In the name of the King, I order you to stand down."

    • "By the Authority of the Union of Allied Planets, you are hereby bound by law."

    • "In the name of the moon, I shall punish you."

    • "By the power invested in me by the state of -insert state here-, I pronounce you man and wife."

    • "I swear on the soul of my father, Domingo Montoya, you will reach the top alive."

The Pharoah is not a god? What? Someone inside this spoiler would like a word with you on that subject.

Didn't Rarity say ' ...and Celestia as my witness..." in the Sisterhooves Social? In the Gone with the Wind scene that mimics Scarlett and Scarlett says 'And God as my witness'

Also wouldn't she be a 'Goddess' unless Alicorns really have

    it all. *cough*
