you do have a dynamic DNS set up, right? otherwise every time your modem gets a new IP, the server IP will change (usually ever 12-24 hours)

Again, it's not the PC - I've heard of running servers on high-end netbooks (due to battery backup) but your bandwidth (internet connection speed - check speedtest.net or for a lighter site, speakeasy) if you dont have a high upstream "upload" speed, you wont be able to maintain many players without lag --- and most ISPs don't give you fast upstream speeds specifically to prevent their users running servers of any type)you could have a Core i7 with 16gb of RAM (or in my case AMD Athelon Black quad-core x64) and with a low upload speed you wont be able to maintain players' connections.

Well, I'm running a server regardless. I figure, if it costs less for less slots, the offer is there if we run low on funds

unless you have a ridiculously high upload speed you wont be able to. I have 500kbps up, and I can only maintain 2 players before lag destroys everything. (though while I had that server, what a server it was... plots, quests, villages, secrets... )

It'd be used for nothing else. I have considered a complete delete of my hard drive on it (I never use it) and just using a linux install.

Once I get around to hooking up CAT-5 cable from my old desktop to my modem, I *may* be able to offer another server to take some of the load of players.

I haven't run a minecraft server on this machine before, so it may fail horribly, but there is a possibility.

Of course, since I'd own the server, I'd rule it like a god. An angry god. But still. <_<

It seems that, besides the outskirts, Ponyville is for the most part clear.

The town was my concern, so I stayed within the "town limits" or whatever and only got one stack from the entire trip.

That's the problem - it hasn't been wrapped up. The desert and surrounding hills are still covered in snow, Sweet Apple Acres still is half-covered in snow ...

The only thing I've done whenever I logged in over the last few weeks was shovel snow and break ice.

if someone starts handing me snow blocks and I don't see anything cleaned up around Ponyville, then no, I won't hand out rewards. the reason I'm being as generous as I am is because these two *are* the only two who helped me clean up. The ones who help out first get the best rewards.
