  1. I believe it was Lauren's goal to relaunch the MLP 'brand' for Hasbro, and then move on to her personal projects. She was successful in doing so, and I think she can proudly hold her head high on that.

In her wording it sounds like this occurred some time ago -- and with the turnaround for animation I have no doubt the decision was made several months past. The show goes on, and I'm sure many of the same people -- from cast, crew, writers, directors -- will be in the credits for Season 2.

  2. Willow, while I appreciate the effort to keep the boards from devolving into a "whine fest", the truth is that this IS a MLP forum, and this is rather large news. And if we cannot allow our members to discuss this news here or in the chat, then they're better off going to ED, RDN, and a host of other places where they can.

There's no controversy here, nor name calling.

As an admin I'm unlocking this thread and allowing our bronies to discuss this news.

And I submit the following from Lauren's DA:

And now I suppose it's finally time for me to deliver some unfortunate news. I've been uncertain for a little while now about how, when and, to be honest, whether to announce the news at all. But here it is: I am no longer working on the show. Various circumstances with the production made it increasingly impossible for me to keep up the level of personal creative involvement and control that I had at the start of the series. I don't think I can accurately express how difficult and painful the decision was and still is. When Season 2 begins, you will see my credit changed from Executive Producer to Consulting Producer. My involvement in Season 2 ultimately does not reach far beyond story conception and scripts. A little more involved in the beginning, and a little less towards the end.

However, you should be pleased to know that the gaps I have left are being filled by the same amazing artists, writers and directors who brought you Season 1. I'm certain the show will be as entertaining as ever, though perhaps in a slightly different way.

With that said, I hope you will still be interested in sticking around my DA page. I started this page as a forum to share my personal work and I hope that those of you who come here lured by ponies will be tempted to hang out for whatever else I have to share in the future---- as soon as I figure out what that will be!!

    With sincerest gratitude,

    Lauren

  3. GUESS I SHOULD BE POSTING HERE TOO.

I know a lot of people have been wondering, "Where has Ashi been?"

I'm currently staying with Tam and his wife Nahima in Kentucky. I was here to scope out the area, see if I wanted to move 'round here. Well I had my vacation time, been here about a month, it's finally time for me to go back home. What happened was I came here on a free ride with no way back. Luckily for me I had some friends take up the challenge to drive my car down from ND to KY to pick me up and I drive them back. They will be here some time of the 26th, be around a few days, gotta leave for sure by the 29th so we're home in time for them to get back to work and for me to see my doctors.

Well I also am very very VERY hard pressed for cash since I've spent every penny I make while I've been staying here. So the past week I've been working on FA to drill through my commissions and make a stable buffer to make the trip back home and afford my bills when I get there. So that's why I haven't been around.

Progress on the forums is for fun sadly, and fun has to wait until after work. So I'll be actively working here some time at the start of May. C:

Just for any of you who were wondering what in the world was going on~ lol I'll be back as soon as I can working on more creative stuff for the RP world and what not. Just be patient please! <3

  4. Hi, Iso, and welcome! Be sure to check out the Getting Started board for our list of rules and other great guides.

In response to your question, you must work up a 5+ post count before signatures are made available. That's also when the rest of the forum (outside of the RP) becomes available to you.

  5. Aqua I have no problem with commission taking and all that.

My only greatest concern is that we, as the site you're posting this information on, are not at all responsible if work or payments are not paid or given out. No one can come to Tam or I asking us to do something, we will not. This is COMPLETELY a personal business matter and I advise they work it out themselves or take it to the appropriate sites like artist's beware or something. NOT US. D: We can't help.

    That's my only thought. <3

  6. So I finally sat down to think about some RP's to get started in.

After a lot of brain swishing about I thought it might be nice to be casual and start up on my character Lacey.

Still rereading her and trying to think of a decent, social, RP thread theme... I just got a crazy idea!

Fancy successful earth pony? Why doesn't she have an assistant to help her with the more casual stuff? She sincerely would need it for note taking and other stuff.

I would prefer the assistant not be a pony, maybe a dragon or diamond dog... Or some sort of other small-to-medium type creature that can easily write and probably has "thumbs". So feel free to suggest more cool species if you want! So far I'm stuck between the idea of Dragon or Diamond Dog.

Now either I can be easy about it and make it myself, which frankly seems boring to me. Or open up the spot for anyone that might be interested? c:

  7. I thought this episode was cute, but what I'd call a "filler" episode. There were some good comedic moments, but no real plot progression. Everyone stuck to their tropes.

Celestia was bemused at all off the fuss around the visit/party and tried to joke - she had the most 'development' for that reason alone, I think.

Twilight was a bundle of anxiety over Celestia's visit.

AJ was a simple country girl who didn't quite get them big city ways.

Pinkie Pie was stupid and ate a lot.

Fluttershy was mousy and did her best to be polite and helpful.

    Rainbow Dash was a prankster.

Rarity was obnoxious about her clothes.

    Spike made an appearance.

So yeah, no development, no real revelations. We found out there are phoenixes in the pony world, and Celestia keeps one as a pet.

Like I said, it was cute; I did laugh a fair bit and there were a lot of great reaction shots that I see being turned into icons/avatars. But from a plot standpoint... eh!
