  1. Any pony else anticipating a new song with this episode? Season one normally had songs for episode-long events like WWU and the GGG so I would expect them to do so for Nightmare Night too. Also we have yet get a song this season when already had 3 by this point in season one. I think this is on purpose, the creators are going big with everything this season as seen with "Return to harmony" and "Lesson Zero", so unlike S1 where we didn't get a big musical number until ep. 11 I expect them to blow us a way with the first song of the season. Hopefully it's a catchy macabre tune featuring the mane 6, Spike, and Luna( just want to hear the princesses sing for once).

  2. SWEET FILLY LUNA.

After so many blasted appearances, Celestia finally gets a 3/4 front head! FINALLY!! I hated that she would ALWAYS talk with her face in 2-d during the first season and 2 last episodes. I'm so glad she can properly speak in that angle now! SO MUCH MORE APPEALING. :kissy:

I noticed that too. I was so surprised at how organic and lively Celestia's animations were in this episode that just seeing her casually leap across the library to the balcony(instead of flying while offscreen or teleporting) made me giddy. Not to discredit the efforts of the animators, but in Season 1 Celestia seemed like a cardboard stand-in in most scenes, standing in the same pose and only delivering dialog. Whether her stiff and rigid posture was meant to show her regal attitude, save time with animation, or a little of both is hard to say. I'm just glad to see that the talent artists behind the show were able to push the already amazing animation even further with this season.

  3. From "a Dog and Pony Show":

    Dear Princess Celestia,

I learned from my good friend Rarity that if I act like a stuck-up, insensitive, narcissistic, irrational, bi-polar ***** I can wrap dimwitted males around my hoof and make them my ***** in return.

    Your faithful student,

    Twilight Sparkle

  4. Fastest Runner: AJ

She had the better time in her first race with Rainbow Dash, penalty aside. Also all those years of hard farm labor and apple bucking must have made her legs far stronger than that of of a pegasus that seems to spend more time airborne than on the ground.

    Fastest Flyer: RD, no contest.

Any argument that Fluttershy is faster is nullified by the two Sonic Rainbooms she has yet too accomplish.

Fastest Overall: Dash, Twi, or Pinkie, Depending on what qualifies as movement.

Dash is canonically the fastest pony in Equestria while airborne however we don't know the mechanics of Twilight's teleportation and if it should qualify as movement. Since Pinkie is a character based completely around the Rule of Funny, her reality warping speed can only be used for comedy and not practicality, so her speed is purely situational and most likely noncanon.

  5. I have to agree with every pony else here, Owl Well that End Well is easily my least favorite for all the same reasons( poor Spike characterization, Owlisious being a boring pet, that stupid "whoo" joke). However the one thing that annoyed me the most was the climax and the missed opportunities with it. Throughout the show I've been interested in the dragon lore of the world and how it related to Spike, being the only dragon living as an Equestrian citizen; how does he feel about the wild dragons that roam the Everfree and lands outside Equestria and vice versa.

I'm already disappointed that Spike wasn't with the mane 6 during "Dragonshy" as there would have been an excuse for some exposition explaining this stuff. Not only was I annoyed that the dragon was just a palette swap of the red dragon(why couldn't it be the same dragon? I like continuity in my shows) but hated that he had no compassion for a lone infant of his own kind. I would have been a much more memorable scene had the dragon given Spike some words of wisdom and a bit of history on his dragon brethren instead of roasted spines and a heart-attack.

  6. As we wait for the next few months for the next season what are you doing to satisfy your interest in the series? I know most bronies exercise their creative muscles through fan art, fiction, PMVs etc. but also share any unique things you're doing until season 2.

Personally I've decided to use this time to take a look at the earlier series in hope of gaining a better understanding of the MLP franchise in general and an even stronger appreciation for the FiM series. So far I've only watched the two G1 pilots "Rescue from Midnight Castle" and "Escape from Catrina".

Despite the poor characterization, bad VA's and cringe worth songs "RFMN" is actually not half bad and is far darker than I expected for a MLP cartoon. It's was also cool seeing elements that would reappear in FiM (Villian seeking everlasting night defeated by a magic rainbow, teleporting unicorn named Twilight etc.) "EFK" isn't quite as thrilling though but still worth a watch.

  7. Since Nightmare Moon's mane seems to be a physical manifestation of space and the astrological bodies within it, Celestia's is probably a physical manifestation of the visible light spectrum created by the sun. I figure that she can control it similar to NMM's but doesn't get many opportunities to use it like that in the show(or the the animators just find it easier to animate unicorn telekinesis than a freeflowing mane as an extra appendage :) ).

  8. Party of One: It's Pinkie at her most random and watching her on the verge going "Cupcakes" was hilarious and terrifying all at once.

Suited For Success made me love Rarity as a character and has the best song in the series, 'nuh said. :P

Bird in the Hoof is just wildly hilarious to me, I've probably rewatched it more than any other episode. :blah:

  9. Bridle Gossip is my top pick by far. Great humor, nicely handled message, and introduces my favorite third-tier character.

While Feeling Pinkie Keen is the funniest episode of this bunch IMO, the message was awkwardly handled so my second vote had to go to the next funniest episode, Applebuck Season.

Last vote had to go the Swarm of the Century because random Pinkie Pie is always awesome.

  10. Swarm of the Century gave us Mentally Broken Twilight and Bikini Dash

Cutie Mark Chronicles seems to have at least one meme from each story except maybe AJ's.: Rarity's "OMG, a giant rock!", Dark Phoenix Twilight, Bi-WINNING Rainbow Dash, SMILE FOREVER Pinkie Pie, and recently Fluttershy's dark matter butterflies.

  11. It depends on whether you're basing this on canon or fanon.

In the official canon of the show so far Pinkie Pie is one of the mane characters who is clearly shown to be far more random than Derpy who only has one line and a few appearances in the background to develop her character.

However in terms of fanon this is opposite.

Since Derpy has virtually no real canon character development she has infinitely more potential to be random without contradicting her canon character development, unlike Pinkie Pie whose believable actions would be limited to her representation in the show.

  12. So there's no reason Dash couldn't fall in love, or at least get a small crush on somepony. That said, Dash is probably least likely to get such a development because of the fans who would go ape**** when their beloved Dash isn't what they thought she was. And imagine the sheer smugness from the fans if it turns out she really is a lesbian. It would be tangible.

    :!:

Rainbow Dash with a crush on somepony? That pony would be the center of major fanrage! :) If the pony is a colt, doubly so because of all the broken hearted bronies. If the pony was a filly, well it be partially mitigated because, yeah, the whole "I told you so" aspect, although those hardcore Dash-Pinkie shippers would still be upset. :blah:

I doubt it will happen though and fans can continue to speculate, and draw and write based on those speculations (which isn't a bad thing at all). :halo:

I'm hoping that they never try this for these reasons. Honestly, it's ridiculous how badly this has gotten out of hand for the fandom... If they even try to give the ponies romances, the fandom will lash out in one way or another, because their 'favorite shipping pair' didn't happen.

You guy seem to forget that despite the huge adult audience this show is meant for 4-8 yr old girls. There's no way in hell that Hasbro would ever allow the characters to be represented as homosexual.
