this was an ideal episode on my behalf, not exactly a big spike fan but it was very interesting to see him do some soul searching. it just goes to show you how the creators have every intention to create an actual show and not just a dry marketing campaing for little girls lol. definitely made up for last weeks lackluser episode

well the only people that dont know im a hardcore brony is my parents, not that im at all worried what they'd say but I just think it would be a little awkward. they pretty much have this rugged male image of me since i pretty much partake in everything manly lol. im just waiting for a hilarious oppurtunity to drop it on them. they'd probably think its hilarious if anything

loved the smile song, but i gotta say becoming popular still remains my favorite song of season 2. and quite possibly the entire series

Grimdark is fine (as long as it's not cupcakes-grimdark) I'd prefer not sad or tragedy, though if it's good enough... (Yes, I read and *loved* My Little Dashie)

yea my little dashie was an amazing story, but im gonna pm you the fic im talking about since its an 18+ read. but trust me its not cupcakes, all though its still a little effed up. if you hated trixie before this fic is gonna make you wanna hug her lol

I just tonight in fact read an interesting fanfic that painted Trixie as a huge showpony, she LOVED the spotlight, she LOVED entertaining, discounting that she would mess up tricks and get bad reactions she LOVED being a stage performer. I think this is a pretty good interpretation of her goal. (And unlike many other fics, she did see she was doing things wrong - but it didnt make that radical of a change in her, just sort of took the edge off her bark so to speak)

So a lot of cool ideas have been kicked around, and while I doubt there would be an episode dedicated to Spitfire alone, I could totally see an episode dedicated to the Wonderbolts. What the espiode would contain, I don't know, but what I do know is that a WB episode is not entirely impossible.

iron will followed by trixie, never really got what the big deal was about trixie but she kind of grew on me as of lately. iron will was just hilarious, stole the show with the two scenes he was in

RD discovering at tryouts (she gets an auto-invite for winning a best young flier competition) that flight shows are 10% the ability to maneuver, and 90% being a synchronized team, and the latter is where she is lacking. She doesn't make the cut...

THIS. this is a great idea because i can see it happening. if RD were denied a spot on the wonderbolts the cause would more than likely stem from her massive ego. but whether it would break her or humble her is the question

I think the show, particularly in Season 2, has been pretty good about not pulling its punches when it comes to challenging emotional material. We've had Twilight go into a severe nervous breakdown over her schoolwork, Rarity's career estranging her from her little sister, Rarity's ambition almost making her turn her back on her best friends, peer pressure making Apple Bloom ashamed of her grandmother, Pinkie Pie almost losing the foals she was babysitting, Applejack having a breakdown under the pressure of her community's expectations of her, Applejack's family almost losing their home and livelihood, and a decent portrayal of three nations on the brink of war. I personally found "Sisterhooves Social" and "Baby Cakes" to be surprisingly hard-hitting and poignant, and if they keep up that sort of intensity, I don't think the show will be lacking at all for darkness or seriousness.

great points dude! tbh i never really thought of it like that. but what im saying is have an episode where the overall tone of it is a bit more stern then that of the traditional formula. like i said you bring up great points about the eps in seasn 2, but the overall tones of these eps were still campy and used the more serious elements as subplots as fuel for friendship lessons. the scootalo idea i mentioned back on the first page is something i really wanna see. but tbh i just wanna scootaloo episode in general

I think some people may have mistook the OP's intention. He isn't asking for some sort of really sad/unhappy episode with heavy drama and a bitter ending. He is asking for a more serious/dark story, if not characters/scenes/dialogue. Heck, I could imagine an AJ episode with a more serious undertone that nonetheless retains everything charming about the episode.
