  1. I voted six for a different reason than most. In my current life situation... MLP:FIM is probably the one thing that wakes me up emotionally besides Earthbound. I'd love to live there as a pony and I'd be much happier than I am now. MLP has saved my sanity and my life.

I can say the same. I would enjoy the change of scenery. Too many bad things happen on Earth, Equestria would be better.

  2. I got lucky when I told an Anti-Brony to watch the first two episodes before he makes anymore fun of me in front of everypony. I am sure you have all heard this before. I told him last Friday to watch those two episodes over the course of the weekend. He came back from the weekend telling me this:

"At the first episode, I was like god**** it. Why do you make me watch this ****? This is incredibly gay." Second episode? I had to watch it to understand why you wanted me to watch it. I was getting a hold of the story. By the time I finished that, I wondered what the next episode would be."

He then continues to tell me that the haters of this show should first give the show a chance before they criticize it. He also told me Fluttershy is best pony. So he watched the first seven episodes and basically told me he was sorry. Kind of ironic how easily one can like the "show for 5 year old girls" after having such a rude bias. All in all, he's now a brony.

That is my little spiel on conversion.

  3. Just because you have to tolerate him doesn't mean you have to associate with him. And again, the question is, does it feel like they are making fun of it to hurt you or is it in jest (the kind of making fun that you can laugh at yourself).

Also G1 wasn't bad at all. The opener was in a few ways similar to the G4 opener. G4 has a 20% cooler look though. though I doubt it will be a problem since FiM is much easier to find than the other generations right now.

Well, he's only kidding. But he does it often enough that it feels like he's serious. I know this has happened to other people.

  4. If your friends will make fun of you for what you like in earnest, then they probably weren't your friends to begin with. Of my friends, we all mess with each other to a degree, but its always in jest. However, none of them judge or berate based on interest of something. If your friends are actually your friends, they'll accept you for who you are no matter what.

As for parents, you have no choice but to associate them within your circle of interest and they are irreplaceable. I've seen far more parents be less accepting than any friends, and you can ALWAYS make more friends.

Remember, your parents grew up in a different time. Kids of this generation tend to be far more accepting, because that is the environment they grew up in. But the environment your parents grew up in was likely in a time of far less acceptance. They grew up in a time of racial segregation (extreme), sexual rights tension (feminist movement), and the time when gays were ostracized for basically no reason (AIDs and the like). Not only that, but the world was seen far more in black and white, where girls played with dolls and guys played sports or something else that was deemed manly. There were actually studies and experiments in the 70s and 80s to "unfeminize" feminine guys, out of fear they would turn gay.

Now I'm not saying some kids did not grow up in an environment like that, one of less acceptance and understanding, but it is far more likely than it once was.

Of my friends, I'm only actively hiding it from one and ONLY one. Mainly because he grew up in Romania and was in the army. He grew up in a very black and white environment when it comes to what is seen as manly and feminine. He is open minded about everything else except that. I tread lightly with him. (I only do this because I have NO idea how he'll react... It would go one of two ways that I can think of... 1) He'd be off put, but be my friend regardless (he wouldn't mess with me much because he knows I'd turn it on him, though that is a possibility and that exchange could go on for hours :P) 2) He'd actually get curious, but not actually watch it, or if he does, it would be due to his GF or so he would claim) Everyone else... they have no problems what so ever. Ok... so one makes jokes about it, but she watches it too... So... yeah... take that as you will.

Thanks for the insight. My other "FRIENDS" just joke with me, but they do it far to often. In fact, the one guy laughed when I told him that a male MLP: FIM viewer is a 'brony', and a female MLP: FIM viewer is a 'pegasister'. He mocked me by saying I was a pegasister. That *******. I will have to tolerate him. He is in my English class. However, he was the one I ended up convincing to watch the first two episodes before he pokes anymore fun at I. I await his response to the show. I hope he watches the right show...I don't want him to watch any G1, G2, or for gods sake, G3. I hope it goes out well.

  5. Considering I'm a pegasister, my friends just choose to accept me for who I am. They understand that nothing they say can change the way I feel about the show and kindly ignore me when I speak of ponies, instead of letting themselves get angry so that they don't hurt my feelings. However, my brother and father don't understand why I watch the show. My dad thinks I'm crazy and my brother thinks that I'll never grow up. But that's just them.

Parents are different than friends. They will love you nonetheless if you're a brony because you are their spawn. However, friends are going to be a lot harsher because most won't hold back and might not even want to be your friend if you are a brony/pegasister.

  6. If your friends don't accept you for liking it and call you names, they don't sound like good "friends" to me.

I do have my anti-brony friend. He accepts me. My other "FRIENDS" are just plain mean. I did get ONE of them to watch the show before he makes fun of me. He said he'll make time to watch it on the weekend. I am still waiting for my response.

  7. hm hm, I think my friends accept it, but I don't know. I think they find it annoying x: I kind of went over board when I first found ponies, so now I try to bring it up as little as possible as to not annoy them. I know they don't see anything wrong with it, they just seem annoyed when I bring it up.

the sad part is that my brony friend is the one who seems to get the most annoyed D':

My anti-brony friend is mostly hating the fandom and show because he says that all the bronies shove their moral down his throat. I also did the exact same thing as you. When I let the ponies in my heart, all I did was bring it up around him. He doesn't like that. He told me I shouldn't bring it up as often. I make a few references to the show whenever I can, but luckily, he doesn't get it. Like I said, he knew that I love ponies, so he brought me a MLP: FIM McDonalds happy meal box and, if the time arose, even agreed to go to Bronycon with me.

  8. Just a little something I need help with. I don't know how non-bronies are 'supposed' to act in the presence of a brony. I am not quite sure if my friends accept me. I just want to hear about your friends. I, for one, have an anti-brony as a friend, who went to McDonalds for a quick happy meal to snack on, and ended up bringing me back the MLP box for the meal because he knew I would appreciate it. He said the brony fandom is stupid, yet he still accepts that I have an active role in it. My other 'friends' are a different story. Name calling and such. Back to you.

  9. The most heart warming episode was season 1, episode 16, Sonic Rainboom. The part where RD actually did the rainboom and saved Rarity and the Winderbolts! Oh, It just made me cry! Real men cry.

  10. About myself.: I am a new member to Canterlot.com. I like Dashie.
