Midnight was about to protest but he had gone before she could say a word.

Midnight wondered if she should go out after him but he was back again before she could lift a hoof. She teleported her herb's and berries book from thin air and flicked the pages as Val dropped the berries in front of as she studied the pages carefully.

This is where Midnight truly came alive, with her nose stuck in a book and hearing nothing but her own voice read the word out in her head.

Midnight Read turned her head to the colt, and smiled light lightly, "I'm fine," she said while turning back to the cave entrance, "I'm just thinking about the food that could be out there, I've read about about all the wild herbs and berries that is safe to eat so we should be fine..." She said trying to change the subject and taking a another sip of her water,

Midnight lifted up the book and placed it into a plain white bag.

Midnight sighed, "Lucky you, I would do anything to get out of Canterlot," She said with a small smile,

"No, it's my mother's," She sad muttering to her self,"She is busy doing business in Fillydelphia to be looking after it so thats where I come in..." She said while rolling her eyes,

"Run in terror? Why in Equestria would they do that?", Midnight asked confused, sure the mare said she wasn't really popular but running away in terror?

Midnight lifted the 5 bits and put them into the rusty till which was placed on the counter.

Midnight smiled back, "Midnight Read."

Midnight blushed "Same here, when I was a little foal reading was way more important than playing with other foals," Midnight replied,

Midnight saw the tired smile on the mare's face, "You look like you have been looking at the stars for too long, when have you last slept?" Midnight asked quietly,

"Oh, I'm not really looking for anything particular, I was ju-" ​Midnight started to say quitely but noticed the colt wasn't listening but had his eyes locked onto a red piece of parchment, Midnight caught a glimpse of the text, with a type of language she had never seen in a book before, "What language is that?" She asked him,

I love all the songs and after I have seen the changelings I am sure this is not a show for kids and also, LUNA!

But the ending was amazing, many tears were shed

"You have to be the last pony standing." She said before taking another sip, "But, easy said than done.." She said trying to keep her mind of what she would do if she and Val were the last ponies standing...

Midnight looked back to the entrance to the cave drinking her water shakily.

Midnight blushed, "Like I said, I'm just trying to follow the main character," She said taking a sip, "But trust me, without you I wouldn't stand a chance..." She said looking at the entrance of the cave, wondering where the other ponies could be and how many were left...

Midnight blushed, "What makes me so different in this world?" She asked him confused,

Midnight lifted Val's water bottle in the air, "I picked this up by the way," She said while passing it to him before taking a drink from her own.

Midnight grinned at Val. "Come one, we better go before anything else shows up..." She said while giggling.

Midnight went to the river once again and lit up her horn to see in the darkness better. She walked down by the river and search for a place to set up camp.

After a couple of minute of searching she found a empty cave. She grabbed some wood and set up a small campfire in the cave.

"I found a place to set up camp." She shouted to Val

Midnight looked behind her as she was running seeing the monster was close on their tale determined to have them as a snack.

Midnight tried to think of ideas from the hero of the book.

They could hide up in a tree, but if other ponies were to find them they wouldn't be able to do anything.. Her mind raced to other ideas, they could hide in a cave... there should be some next to the river...

Midnight suddenly turned around, "Head back to the river!" She shouted to Val

Midnight Read stared in horror at the creature.

"It's a muttation, she said "It's an animal or...pony who has been changed into a monster by the gamemakers" She said

The creature had only been stunned for couple of moments, until it was back on it's feet, it charged towards Midnight but she kicked it away and now it was more angry...

"Run!" She shouted to Val,

Midnight wanted to tell him that there were no locals here, but it looked like the thought reassured him so she decided not to.

"Your probably right it must just be a-" Midnight started to say but a another large rustle in the bushes stopped her in mid-sentance.

Midnight squinted into the bushes to see if anything was there, she took a few steps forward to get a better look.

Midnight saw the expression on Val's face. She got up. "What is it?" She asked him,

She squinted her eyes into the bushes seeing nothing. Midnight looked at Val who's eyes was locked onto the jungle.

Midnight took a few steps forward to the jungle trying to get a closer look.

Midnight took a sip of water from the bottle, she looked at her surroundings again.

"We can sleep here tonight, but we can't light any fires to keep ourselves warm. It will give away our position" She said quietly,

Midnight heard a rustle in the bushes, and turned her head towards the sound. "Did you hear that?" She asked Val while turning her head to him,

Midnight Read stared into the fire. What had she done? She had brought a colt she had just met to a world where 24 ponies are thrown into an arena to fight themselves and the elements. Sure they were doing well...They had already found water, now all they needed was shelter. Midnight Read looked up the quickly setting sun. And she and Valoren were the last two what would happen?

She saw that he was still staring into the forest, she would work it out in the morning all they needed to focus on now was shelter. She checked the water and guessing it had boiling for a couple of minutes now she put the fire out.

"I think the water is done," She called over to Valoren who was still staring into the jungle.

Midnight Read thought for second and remembered.

"We need to take that water and boil it.." She said while gathering some twigs to light a fire.

She placed the twigs in a pile and set them alight, "It will only take a couple of minutes, then we have to find shelter..." She said while turning her head towards the jungle to make sure no ponies were coming.

Midnight felt herself being pulled back as she saw a spiked log swing to where her head was just moments ago.

"Thanks," She said trying to laugh it off, she got up and looked at the swinging log. "We better be careful from now on, this must be a quarter quell," Seeing the confused look on the pegasus' face she explained further, "It is when the gamemakers add a little 'twist' to the Pony Games, and this year they have added traps." She said looking at the water suspiciously, "We better filter this before we drink it, just to be sure," She said turning to face Valoren,

Midnight Read dug her hoof into the dirt, "Bone dry..." She muttered to herself, "Oh and well, I'm just following the lead character," She said blushing slightly, "I'm not really an expert at this thing.." She said,

She began to trot further into the forest making sure Valoren was following her, every once and a while she would stop and dig at the ground for any changes of the texture. They traveled in this style for a couple of minutes until she digged at the ground again and cheered to herself.

She went down small slope and found a what she was looking for, a long flowing river.

Midnight tried to shout to him she didn't know but a loud countdown started.

A loud buzzer went off and everypony sprinted away from their plate. Midnight ran towards Valoren who was watching all the other ponies run for the supplies. Midnight grabbed his hoof again and dragged him into the forest trying to get as far away from the other ponies as possible.

Midnight couldn't help but grin at the pegasus. She sighed, "Okay then.. but you will have to do what I say..." She said so seriously that it didn't sound like her,

Midnight Read saw that the pegasus wasn't going to miss this adventure for Equestria, so with one last look at the spell she suddenly grabbed Valoren's hoof and though of one thing:

The Pony Games

Midnight opened her eyes to find herself standing on a round metal plate. She tried to blink the sunlight out of her eyes. She saw Valoren standing at the opposite side of the big group they were formed in and she could only think of one think to shout to him...

"Don't step of the plate!" She shouted at the top of her lungs,

Midnight blushed, "You want to go?" She said, "It could be dangerous...I don't even know if the spell will work..." She said looking at the book,

She sighed "You don't have to you know you can say no." She said, "I don't want to force you into something..." She said turning to face him,

Yes he is brave she thought, but she didn't want to put a colt she had just met in a situation she can't save him out of...

Midnight Read looked up a Valoren. What I am I going to say? She thought,'Oh, I'm just looking for a spell that teleport me to a world where your life is hanging by a thread.'

Midnight took another bite out of her apple.

"Well, one time I came across a spell that...teleports you inside a book..." She said, "It's sounds crazy doesn't it.." She said blushing

She turned back at the book to make the laughter more tolerable.

Valoren's last word made Midnight Read think for a minute, hadn't she read that spell that brought you inside the books. Surely not... she thought as she took another drink from her bottle. Well, it couldn't hurt to look could it? Suddenly she was searching through the contents of her picnic basket until..Bingo!

She lifted a rather thick leather book which had the title: "101 Spells for unicorns".

She flipped through the pages until she found the spell she was looking for, she took a bite out of her apple she had nearly forgotten and took a bite out of it. She re-read the spell over and over again compleatly forgetting about Valoren.
