"Hi, Mister!" ​ Needles neighed, her ears perking a little. "Can I interest you in some puzzles or riddle books? I have jigsaw puzzles, puzzle cubes, slider games, wooden puzzles, and multiple books written by yours truly." The filly explained, grinning with attention and enthusiasm. She was hoping to get some bits to go get timber from Ponyville, which trees were easy to woodwork. Fuzzy propped himself on a small pet bed set up next to Needles' own chair. "I can explain all of these pieces, so ask all the questions you want. Every puzzle here is handmade from Ponyville timber, and quality is a guaranteed!"

SKREEEE!

"Ugh.." Needles groaned.

SKREEEE!

"UGH..." Needles groaned louder.

SKREEEEEEEEEE!

"WINDUP, CALL OFF YOUR DUMB PET!"

Windup, a grey and purple earth pony, trotted in without a word. He grabbed the mechanical bird, and slowly pulled the winding key out of his device. He said nothing at all, and quickly walked out. Needles moaned, but got up all the same. She trotted down to the bathroom, and began brushing her frizzy red her into a finely gelled manecut. She smiled, perfect!

Needles went on a slow stroll through the apartment. A brown hedgehog climbed from his perch on the couch, and jumped on the fillies back. Needles smiled as she levitated some carrots to her pet, named Fuzzy. She skipped down the stairs, a saddlebag and Fuzzy in tow, and she chipper-ly galloped to her small merchant stand. The young pony levitated some new puzzles onto her stand, as well as unlocked the puzzles she kept in her lockbox. She unfurled a piece of tablecloth with her cutie mark sewn on by her Mother. "Puzzles, riddles, and games of all sorts! Challenge your mind!" Needles neighed, happily waiting for customers.

Looking over this, you've got a neat character here, there's a couple points I'd like to touch on.

First is your Origin/Residence section. This should only contain information on where your character was born, and the places they've lived up until present day. The rest of the information you have up there should be integrated with your character summary.

Second is about this Windup character you mentioned builds automatons. In the modern sense of the word, meaning an autonomous robot, that would be very far beyond the technological level of Equestria. If this was not your intention, his inventions should be clarified as simple clockwork machines instead of being called automatons.

Um, well the sharp teeth thing is really her only point of defense. Her magic is seriously only levitation and basic stuff. That's kind of her whole shtick.

Mane/Tail/Markings Color & Style: Needles has a shiny maroon mane. It's very short with a long strand jelled up very sharply. She has a similarly styled tail, with two maroon "blades".

Physique: Needles is on the short side, around an inch shorter then say, Applejack. She isn't particularly thin, but she's not fat either. She's pretty average weight-wise. One interesting body-trait to note is her very big, cartoony looking teeth. Although they like rather triangular, they're not particularly sharp.

Origin/Residence: Needles lives in Manehatten, Neigh York in an apartment, owned by her friend, a clock work pony maker, Windup.

Occupation: Needles is a puzzle-maker and an author of a few riddle books.

Motivation: Needles is motivated by stimulating her mind and the minds of others. She really just finds it fun to do what she does.

Character Summary: Needles is a playful, silly pony. She's like an adorable little puppy, sweet, cute, and playful. Except her concept of play involves tackling and biting. She's hasty and risky, and usually thinks of her plans on the fly. She is very childish, except when around handsome colts she takes a fancy to, which is rather rare. She isn't particularly SMART, but thinks very differently then most ponies do. Needles has a tendency to insult ponies, but she seriously doesn't notice. She really doesn't think before she speaks at all.

Needles was born in Hoofington, where she lived most of her life. Her parents were divorced when she was very young, and her father is barely around, but she talks to him occasionally and has an okay relationship with him. Her mother was a seamstress, hence her very fashion-themed name. Since she is NOT a seamstress, she only goes by Needles now. One day her school went on a field trip to the nearby woods to study nature. She and her friends broke off from the group to look at the famed gigantic tree grown in the forest's center. She and her friends were playing on the soft soil and roots, competing to see how many vines they can grab from the branches. However, due to the very rainy climate and lack of ponies going near it, the soil caved in. While her friends were trying to climb out, Needles was looking around and thinking of a real way to get out. Her plan was to take the vines they gathered, tie in on their backs, and loop it around a large root coming out of the ground. Using the vines as a harness, they all climbed out one by one. Upon figuring out she could think in a different way most ponies could, she got her cutie mark, a spiral arrow, signifying her different way of seeing situations.

Needles used her talent to make riddle books and puzzles. She would at first sell them outside her mothers shop, but when she matured into an older filly (pony equivalent of 16 in human years), she decided she must go and show off her talents in a bigger place, namely Manehatten. Luckily for Needles, a family friend happened to live in Manehatten. His name is Windup, an inventor who makes rather interesting machines, mainly clockwork-powered. Needles now lives with her friend in a two-room apartment, and goes to sell her puzzles at fairs and just plain old street stands.
