Becoming silent for a moment, Val bit the bottom of his lip as he tried to process how they were going to do this. Simply just run through the middle of them? It seemed like the most obvious choice yes; but at the same time it was the most dangerous one. Heck, anything could happen to them out in the middle. They could get bitten. They could get sepearted. The two of them could get swamped by enemies. A million things could go wrong, and quiet honestly; he really wasnt looking to wanting to eat any ponies brains if he got bitten. Glancing at Midnight wiht obvious sadness in his eyes, he reached over; pulling her into a gentle hug as he spoke "What were about to do is probably the most dangerous things we've done so far. Running into the middle of them, anything could happen. You know that right"? Pulling away, he smiled "But were not gonna let the fear of "What if's stop us right"?"

Val blinked as he tried to think up a response. True, what he had just come up with was nothing more then a shot in the dark and in all honesty; he'd rather take his chances with a sure idea then with something that could either fail or win. Glaring at the zombies, he tried to think up another idea on the spot to try and get them through this. "Hmmm, maybe if you charge my body with magic; i'll fly so fast and charge at them. Then, Ill end up cutting my way through the zombies; making a clear path for you to follow through as the zombies will need a moment to respond to what had just happened". That was also a shot in the dark, as he berated himself. "I should be better at this" he grumbled as he asked "Whats your idea"?

Val cringed as he put an irrattaed hoof to his head in frustration as he tried to come up with a solution to thier problem. "Oh this isnt good, this isnt good at all" Val growled as he glanced left and right for a way for them to get past the crowd of zombies. "Ahh, why dont we err..umm..." Val grunted, as he tried to think. Getting an idea, he muttered "Wait, i think i got something but umm..it might be abit rough". Glancing at Midnight, he remarked "I can carry us whislt we fly over them, whilst you keep my wings strong through magic..its about...two hundred yards so that would be about...i dunno..five mintues at the speed I travel at. Do you think you could keep useing your magic for that long" questioned Val hopfuly, as his plan was just a one in a million shot.

Watching as Midnight started to blast, and shoot away at the monsters that were all over the place; he laughed out "Yeah see that zombies ponies!! Thats Midnight!! Shes's gonna kick your teeth in" praised Val. As the two of them found an opening and went for it; Val galloped alongside Midnight as the two of them galloped down towards the bottom of the building. As they reached the streets, Val's eyes bulged in shock at the sight of the many thousands upon thousands of ponies blocking their path, keeping them from having a clear shot straight towards the Capitol building. Glancing at Midnight, he informed "Well, from the looks of it' we'll have to get past all these ponies..problem is that we'lll be exhausted by the time we get over to the Capitol soo..we need a plan to get past them".

Landing next to Midnight, Val went into a roll as he staggered to stop. The adrenaline from everything that was happneing had really gotten to him since he couldnt really slow down so good. Stopping next to Midnight, he was about to say something but was rudely interupted as suddenly the door was busted down. Whirling around to face the door, he was surprised as a slew of zombie ponies suddenly came out of nowhere; snarling and growling furiously towards them. "Well, looks like we have some trouble coming our way. Oh my, I am so afaird" Val snickered in sarcasm as he glanced over at Midnight with a grin. Since he was still on an adreanline rush, he charged into the crowd of zombie ponies eagerly; as he started to punch, hoof, and kick at anything that got in his way!!

Val smiled lightly in response to her claims about how she didnt think zombie ponies had even exsicted until today. Sitting up, he quipped "Well, I guess yah learn something new everyday right? Too bad, we couldnt learn about something that wasnt trying to kill us" he chuckled lightly, as he tried to add some humor into the situation. Glancing out the window, he shivered at the sight of the zombies all bunching up towards one another in the streets, ramming themselves feebly against the doors as they moaned for the flesh of the living. "Huh, its almost sad to see them in this state" grumbled Val lightly, as he couldnt help but feel sorry since awhile ago these ponies were alive, with lives, friends and family. Yet he knew he couldnt bear any sympathy towards them since whatever was allowing them to walk around like this, was just useing thier bodies as shells. Hearing the door break down, he jumped up as Midnight teleported to the next building. Feeling the adrenaline going, he spread his wings as he rammed through the window; soaring towards the next rooftop!!

Geary smiled lightly in response, pleased that he was being given a chance to get this job since he really needed a change of place as fast as he could!! He had to admit, that he was really nervous throughout the interview, constantly worried that in some way he was gonna screw in some way and make things even worse/making a foal outta himself. He was pleased that things had gone so well for him as he nodded in thanks to the mayor. Nodding to what she said about it help, but dosent show who he really is: he said "I know who I am yes, but your right I need to tell more about myself". Being handed some papers to fill out as he looked over the assement, he trotted out the door and took a seat again in the hall; watching as the next pony went in. "Hmmm" he thought to himself idealy as he looked over the assement; and started to fill out to the best of his ability; being honest with himself about his strengths, weaknesses. His likes and dislikes. What he aspirted to be in life, and what his general plan was for life itselt. "Hmmm" he mused as he contiued.

Val growled, as he kicked and struggled against the zombie pony for freedom; not wanting to be held back by anything and anypony. Flying up into the air, he flapped his wings rapily as fast as he could in order to get one off of him, as he then dive bombed down and managed to throw the creep off of his back. Pumping his hoof into the air in victory, he realized how close they were too the town and therefore nearby for help. Nodding in relief towards this, he flew as fast as he could towards where Midnight had gone towards. WAtching as she threw open a door, he soared in as soon as she opened it, sighing in relief as it was closed and he collapaed; sliding agianst the floor hard. "Need a breather for a moment" he managed to get out; clearly tired from fighting with zombie ponies. Glancing up at Midnight, he smiled weaily "Sorry, I shouldnt be like this since it seems like that Im used to doing this sort of stuff; but in all honesty Ive never really fought any zombie ponies before soooo..yeah" he said weakly. Glancing out the window at the Capitol, he nodded "Hmmm, seems so far away and yet so close...well, plan i had would be to stick to the rooftops so we can avoid the mane hoard of the monsters" offered Val, as he sat up.

The entire forrest had become a nightmare, and they were seirously in trouble now!! With all the constant running for thier lives, it was a wonder that he would ever get a chance to sit down and actually have a casual...gah. Any further thoughts that he had were quickly cut off as a zombie pony tackled him from behind, trying to force him to his knees as he glanced back in horror at the sight of the undead pony. Struggling for freedom, he started to flap his wings rapidly as he slammed his back into a tree trunk; injurying the mosnter as he forced it to let go of him. "Keep running for that building" Val called to Midnight as he flew to catch up with her.

"But I dont need help, it was just alittle..hey" he gasped as he realized he didnt have a choice in the matter. Best just to go along with Sweet Surprise. As he walked next to her, he looked back saddened at the sight of his house in such a distraught state. Falling apart, or always having to be fixed due to an oversight of such that he messed up on an experiment. Would such things ever end with him? Or would he continue to mess everything up by making cruddy experiments that would always blow up in his face. These depressing thoughts really hurt his spirits, as he looked downcasted at the thought of constantly failing and therefore; never being able to get ahead in life. "Yeah...okay" Geary spoke softly.

Val looked around in shock, his mind quickly trying to process what was happening around the two of them.,was this really happneing??!! It couldnt be!! Why was the entire world starting to look like some twisted, alternate realtiy version of the book!! Blinking as some ponies started to emerge, Val started to put up his hooves in an attempth to defend himself, but halted at the sight of the ponies. They didnt look dead..they looked destroyed!! Like zombified, hellish versions of themselves as patches of fur were missing, exposing thier crude bones, body parts were gone and they looked seriously scary!! "W..what in the world" Val gawked as they started to slowly surround the two of them. Looking left and right for a way out, Val looked back at Midnight as he said "We run for it, thats what we..we...go over here" he insisted as he gently took her hoof and started to take off running past the monsters!!!

Smiling weakly, he responded "I will do so Mayor, though I guess its kinda obvious on how one can tell that I really am wanting this interview to go extremtly well" he laughed weakly as he ran a hoof nervously through his mane. Shrugging off his nervousness in an attempht to calm himself, he smiled as he responded "Okay well, Im an inventor/craftspony. I spend my time creating new inventions that could benefit Equestria. I do hit alot of dead ends at times, but I do manage to come out on top in the end and overcome whatever problem has placed itself before me. One of my most recent invetions was an electric charged toothbrush that can save ponies time of thier wrist from hurting and such". Chuckling, he spoke "Well, I believe Im perfect for the job because Im very punctual, and motivated towards getting the job done. I always take the extra mile so therefore, whatever I overcame will have been made better. I am capable of branching out and adapting to new enviorments, and am very dedicated towards my work" he finished.

Geary blinked as he got to his hooves, shaking his head slowly in pain as he slapped the side of his head in annoyance to make the stars vanish. "Gaaaaaah, make the world stop spinning please" he laughed in a half dazed voice, seeing three of a pony in front of him. Slapping the side of his head, he watched as the world slowly came back into focus as he looked at the mare in front of him. "Ahh, he..hello" he said shyly as he realized that he had covered her in ice cream. "Oh I..Im awfully sorry, I didnt mean to bump into you like that". As he was helped to his hooves, he remarked "Ahh, heh heh..umm..hi Im Geary Twist" he spoke softly, as he nervously offered a hoof.

Staying next to Midnight, Val kept his ears close to the ground as he tried his best to determine where any possible threat could come at him, in hopes that he could easier locate anypony that was nearby, and looking to threaten him and his marefriend. Sniffing the air that was burning with what he suspected to be fire, it was strange because he couldnt see any fire. No smoke, no sound of crackling heat; nothing!! Blinking, he watched as suddenly an ear pierce siern sounded in the air as if..they were under attack!! "What the..hay" Val gawked as hte ground slowly started to..evaporate as the world suddenly got much darker, like an eclipse was blocking the sunlight!! Pieces of the ground flew into the air, replaced by..some sort of chainlink fence used as the ground under their hooves as the trees became rotten and decayed.

Nodding in thanks towards Midnight for being understanding, Val took off into the skies; eager to get some air and bearate himself for acting like a foal in front of Midnight. Placing a hoof to his head, he slapped himself several times in exhasperation. "Stupid, stupid..why did you have to go and make a foal outta yourself": he scolded annnoyed. Looking up, he kept his eyes peeled for any sign of trouble as he thought least thing you can do is keep an eye out and try and not to...helllooo, whats that" he thought to himself in surprise as he could see something fly though the fog before vanishing just as quickly. "Flying back down to Midnight, he spoke "Theirs something flying up thier, I cant see it clearly though".

Val blinked as he looked at Midnight for this idea, as he nodded "Well yes, that idea would go really but what about you? You'd be all alone and...well not that IM saying you need protection or that your helpless. NU..not that I was thinking or implying that your weark or nothing but..I..ha..oh dear" he laughed weakly as he ran a hoof through his mane weakly as he looked away trying to keep himself from going nuts and embarrassing himself". Shutting himself up, he spoke "Ahh, your right. Ill just go up thier every so often to locate a way out of here and therefore keep us from getting further lost". Slowly flying up into the air, he mentally kicked himself for making a complete idiot outta himself.

I still want to be engineer as well

Val gasped as he stated "Say what"? He was surprised that the gamemakers would stoop to such levels just to insure them dead. They must really have not wanted them to escape!! One would say that he should feel honored at being the center of attention in such a manner. All he really felt was powerful annoyance at all the crud that was happneing to him right now. "Sooo their are monsters in the fog now huh? Well then we'd best be careful if we dont wanna die or nothing" Val stated simply as he helped to her hoooves, as he tried to think over what sort of plan that they should have. Maybe if they used Midnights horn as a light, they could guide their way out of the fog and towards saftety. But if they did that, it would be the equivlant of a beacon for the enemies to find. Seeing Midnight so upset, he quickly got next to her to console her. "Hey hey, cmon dont be sad. Its not your fault. This is the gamemakers fault, and we both needed sleep for the night. Besides, we'll get out of this" he nodded assuredly.

Sitting up the next morning, Val yawned heavily as he scracthed the back of his head tireldy. Man, he had some rough nights before; but he had never felt so uncomftertable before when it came to trying to get some sleep. He musta slept on the wrong side or something. Looking around sleepily, he glanced at Midnight and was tempted to snuggle closer to her in response at the sight of her sleeping soundly next to him. Strecthing, he then noticed for the first time the heavy fog that had rolled in from last night; probably from whatever had been burning up in the air. Blinking several times at the sight of it, Val got up more alert as he looked left and right, trying to see through the fog and yet was having a difficult time doing so. "Hmmmm" Val grumbled to himself, as he wondered where everything had gone. Glancing down at Midnight, he whispered "Hey Midnight, time to get up. I think something happened last night whilst we were asleep".

"Same here, Same here" Valoren grinned lightly in response as he sniffed the air. It suddenly smelt..different. More thicker as if..something powerful had gotten into the air. Hmmm, it smelled like it was something burning and yet..their was no smoke, no sign of anything burning. Maybe it was just the change in the air, like the gamemakers were changing the rules in an attmepth to get rid of them!! Guling at the thought of it, he thought to himself "Pfft, nah its no bigge. They cant do anything against us. Not when we have each other". Comforted at this thought, he slowly closed his eyes to sleep; snuggled close next to Midnight.

"I know, they sound like complete myth dont they. But its true, sea ponies that could swim, breathe and talk underwater" Val smiled lightly as he placed a hoof to say his chin thoughtfully. "Well, once we get out of this book, we'll be experciing more and more adventures just like the ones you wanted" grinned Val cheerfully, as he chuckled "Its gonna be so awesome"!!

"Ahhh, well that certaintly is something we both have in common. We both enjoy the night air, and the beauty that it provides for us; specially when it makes you more beautiful than before" grinned Val. Blinking, he spoke "Well lemme think for a moment, their was this one time when I had to retrieve a water emblem from underneath a lake outside of Canterlot. I had heard rumors about their being a type of pony that could breathe, and swim underwater. So, I wanted to see if such a being really exsicted in the process". Sighing, he spoke "Turns out they did exisct, and they were rather suspicious of me at first since they didnt know what my intnetions were. However, they agreed to help me if it invovled kicking out a monster that was giving them trouble. So, whats what I did; I helped them get rid of an aquatic amboea whilst geting the crystal in the process".

"Heh heh, do you know that it looks like your mane sparkles in the moonlight" Val asked with a gentle smirk, watching her blush deepen. Sitting next to her as he looked out of their makeshift hide-a-way, he chuckled. Sighing, he looked up as he breathed in the night air. "Its a beautiful sight at night, isnit it. Makes me almost completly forget that we're fighting for our lives, and trying to avoid being captured by a bunch of jerks"., Looking back at her, he said "Sooo, how about we share some more stuff about us, like what we did before we even came here? Like anything that we dont know about each other"?

Smiling as he gave a weak nod in return towards the mare, he thought to himself "Alright Geary, everythings going to be just fine". To say that he was nervous, would be abit of an understatement, considering that his knees were shaking the entire time that he walked into the office. Slapping himself upside the head, he tried to forcibly stop himself from being nervous. Breathing slower and calmer, he nodded towards the Mayor as he slowly sat down. A rush of thoughts ran through his mind, as he tried to prepare himself for whatever questions that she would surely ask him. "What made you intersted in this position" she would ask. "Well, I felt a need to do something different with my life to where I could have a different change of pace. Its been mostly the same thing for me, and Im getting really tired of it soo..here I am trying to do something new". "How could you benefit this position" she would ask. "Well, I am very punctual and would always show up on time. I would help this position by getting down assigntments in record time, taking off alot of stress that might be felt here and therefore help the business out greatly". THinking this questions to himself, he looked up as he prepared himself for anything she might ask.

Getting up for a sec, he said "Would you excuse me for a moment, thanks". Turning away, he trotted over towards some of the trees as he stepped into a clearing. Glancing left and right for any sign of danger, he thought to himself "This is gonna be really dangerous. I really dont look forward to sleeping, and hanging around out in the open where we can be attacked by any and all. I just hope that their is a..okay duh!! Slapping himself across the side of his head, he trotted over towards some bushes before bending over. Grunting as he lifted as hard as he could, he removed some of the bushes from the ground; shaking them to get any bugs out as he thought "Its a makeshift..but it will have to do". Trotting back over toward Midnight, he cuddled up next to her at the base of the tree as he set up the bushes to hide them, covering all sides so they couldnt be spotted. "Whew, well..its not perfect, but its the best I could think up" he laughed weakly before kissing her cheek.
