1. I'm afraid the reason we have no official disability support area is the same reason we don't have [insert ethnic minority, sexual orientation or religion here] support section.

For the record, before my current job, I worked in Dementia/Alzheimer's Nursing so issues surrounding mental health and quality of life I'm quite aware of.

The biggest problem with 'support' within an internet community is the bad and damaging advise that will be presented to users where-as going to your local social services department would be more suited.

That and self-diagnosis are some of the worst parts of the Internet.

Feel free to make a blog highlighting issues surrounding things you feel passionate about, but be sure to not allow others to confuse online help and opinions with proper professional help.

  2. Official / final words.

Why is that word censored? - Because it's simply a slang for faecal matter that's used in a negative way. (see 'swearing').

Why does this site prefer English spelling (Not British as there are several languages spoken in the British Isles)? - This isn't an American website & because it annoys elitist Americans. People complain about it = mission accomplished, please keep feeding it. ;)

Censorship on a Brony site is silly, there aren't any children there! - Pure ignorance. We're not a 'brony' website, we are a fan-site. We have a LOT of minors on this website and Mane and I will do what we can to ensure our website is not a source of inappropriate material and a safe clean place to be and accessible to ALL.

If you're not eloquent or intelligent enough to use a different word, that's more of a user problem right there.

The English language is wonderfully diverse, descriptive and adaptable and it's ridiculously easy to speak/type without resorting to vulgarities.

** Only 'curse words' in English are censored because you'll just end up banned from the site for using other languages. See Rules/Terms of Service for details.

  3. The rules may be found linked in the Terms of Service you read and agreed to when you joined Canterlot.com. They're found in the 'Extras' menu by hovering your mouse over and clicking the relevant option. The rules as well as our privacy policy are also linked on EVERY page and location of the site at the bottom right.

Role Play Helpers may be identified by the following banners: 11-AwardImgMaster-1342267739.png and 16-AwardImgMaster-1346969408.png for Senior Helpstaff. The suggestion to use the old diamond image is redundant.

We're currently building an FAQ section which covers things like what areas of the forum are for, however, reading the forum descriptions is normally sufficient for most humans.

  4. Whilst they don't make a whole lot, the Adsense ads take a little of the ouch out of server rent.

Blocking adds without donating doesn't help us out. Please love the community by not allowing ad-blockers to stop Canterlot from displaying. :(

    Note:

We use Google Adsense because they're not very big, don't impact the loading of the site much and google is one of the more trusted providers.

If any adverts appear that are not via Google Adsense, check your browser/computer for malware. At canterlot.com we ONLY use and trust Adsense.

We also do not use any pop-ups.

  5. Seriously? I'm not soliciting anything! I'm using it as an example of alternative art! And you have no idea who I sold it to! Just that I sold it. BTW I sold it for five dollars to a friend of mine so I could make another one of another cutie mark so I COULD GET PRACTICE. I was practicing so I could maybe do commission cutie marks of original characters. Isn't that what art is about? Practice?!

Thanks. Just thanks. My frist impression of this forum is ruined. I was just trying to get opinions about art OTHER THEN DRAWING and you have to be a rager. What happened to love and tolerance I hear so much about?

Oh and guess what, Disney can't go after people who make fan art and sell it under a certain amount of money and purposefully say "THIS IS FAN ART." It's the same thing with Hasbro. They won't persecute because they can't. Here in the USA artists have the freedom to create fan art and sell it if they want. As long as they don't claim it as their own.

ONE MORE THING. I happen to personally know several of the voice actors for the show. They all thought my chainmail tapestries were great ideas and told me to even start a kickstarter to sell them. And my friend making the discord quilt? She made the Shining armor and Cadence plushy pair that are featured in the travelling MLP museum, which the museum bought from her.

You have no idea what you are talking about when it comes to buying/selling/creating fan art. Next time you want to instantly yell at someone because they're trying to start a simple discussion, maybe you should be nicer about it.

    I'm gone.

    I'm sorry you feel we're being rude. Let me address your concerns below, in order;

Your DA page has a link to your page advertising the sale of copies of HASBRO's properties which states:

"Currently I am only taking orders for the following: Small Rarity, Small Applejack, Small Rainbow Dash, Small Pinkie Pie, Small Fluttershy, and Large Twilight Sparkle."

It's unfortunate that the "love and tolerance" thing (is that even mentioned in the show or is it just a brony thing?) is used in self-defence only. It's not really a right to do whatever you want without consequence. Where's the line drawn?

Unfortuantely the "freedom" to create and sell fanart is based on the companies who created the properties in the first place.

    A recent example: http://www.vg247.com...d-with-lawsuit/

Another item to note is my level of contact and standing with a number of high-profile artists who, one in particular, has recently and specifically asked HASBRO about selling her FanArt.

    The response:

"Thanks for sending over the images which were great.

If you would like to become Hasbro’s licensee to sell My Little Pony fanart, we charge £10,000 signing fee upfront.

On top of this, we charge 15% royalty rate for all products sold"

Voice actors are not HASBRO employees. They are contracted in to do a job for them. Lauren Faust herself doesn't even own the rights to MLP in any form. She's merely credited as writer/developer etc. If they like your chain mail things, that's awesome... but they don't directly represent HASBRO or HASBRO legal.

    ----

It's annoying and people don't like this fact... but I do actually know my stuff.

  6. Unfortunately the fact of the matter is you're printing copies of HASBRO's designs onto a medium for sale. (although you've not stated anything in your post about selling items, you link to a Deviant art account which offers the sale)

If you were printing images of Mickey Mouse or the famous Black-circular-ears on things to sell, Disney solicitors would be all over them. It's unfortunate that Hasbro doesn't have the legal might to keep effective control over their properties, but, because they're not 'currently' taking action it doesn't mean they won't in future or that using their properties that doesn't advantage themselves is 'okay' to do.

All we ask for at Canterlot.com is to offer respect to the creators of the show by not (directly or indirectly) soliciting the sale of products on our website.

  7. Are you aware that you're attempting to profit from copies you've made of HASBRO's intellectual properties?

I'd strongly suggest you show some support for the creators of our favourite show and sell more creative/original designs.

Anyone that buys unlicensed material should be ashamed of themselves. :(

  8. Final word here.

You have been banned from the chatroom. You asked the owners of this website if you can come back and the answer was "No".

What you're hoping to gain by asking the community why you're banned from the chat is beyond me but since you've decided to speak out publicly you'll get a frank public answer.

You broke our rules by creating multiple accounts. You've disrespected the people that have worked for YEARS, literally, to bring you this free service when you accepted our Terms of Service when creating new accounts. You lied to us.

When people create new accounts and assumes a different name it grossly disrespects our Donators who, as a way of thanks, are given the privilege of name changes.

You then ask people to not tell staff that you've created a new account. Deceitful.

So yes... you've had privileges revoked.

If you can manage to gain our trust we'd consider allowing someone who previously deceives and lies to us back into our chatroom.

(note you have 2 warning points on your account out of a possible 3, so you're on a last chance now anyway, why provoke us further?)

    -- Everyone else.

Mane and I don't remove people for 'fun'.

We've spent a lot of time, effort and money on this website so you'll have to understand that when we say we feel disrespected when people abuse the privileges we give to you.

Yeah we feel "butt hurt" or whatever when a user annoys us or ignores our requests to respect the rules etc... because this is our "home".

If you invited someone into your house and asked them to take their shoes off before they came in and they ignored you, traipsing mud into your new carpet you'd be pretty annoyed too, right? :scream:

  9. Note to all.

If you post copyright material (not posted by the author/artist) and/or content with inappropriate content, regardless or putting behind spoiler tags, it will be removed and warning added to your account.

Please review the site's rules HERE if you are unsure what is appropriate.

  10. Try as I will but I can't seem to get my images under the allocated size limit allowed for the Brony Behind the Computer thread. Anyone care to make me feel silly and offer up a simple and easy explanation as to how I can do this?

I'm assuming you're trying to use up ALL your attachment space available to you on this site on one image of yourself for that one thread.

It would be best to host your images elsewhere and then when you write a post or reply click the image icon (looks like a polaroid photo) which will then ask for the URL of your image you've hosted elsewhere.
