1. Those really do look fantastic, chardude! I can't tell if that's Black Mane next to Black Powder in the first one though. Is it? :3 Because if it is, he looks really cool! :D

@Thebluemage umm yeah, cloud ships wouldn't work out for this guy  he'd sorta fall through... but I don't think I'm even going to play him anymore... I've thought of somepony better >:3 I just have to decide if I want to play as her or not.

  2. ((^Pirate hunters!? 0.o ...OOooooh nooooo...))

Black Mane watched as the grass pods fell and turned into vicious, wicked plants that tried to attack him. Luckily his scimitar was still at the ready and was able to slash them away and parry the rest. "Is that all ye got!?" He shouted while still covered in red. To be honest, if he hadn't been prepared then those vines could have easily trapped him. But not today. He jumped back away from the retreating Zo, who was too far to fight with a sword, and tossed another bomb his way. The fuse fizzed as it flew through the air, this one being completely lethal compared to the others.

Sleek Wind rolled straight into the back of Black Mane's legs "erm... little help here capn stinkmane?" she said with a sheepish grin.

Black Mane turned his head to give her an evil glare. He had heard all of her insults and big talk while he was battling Zo, and he didn't like it. He knew she had a fighting spirit, which only made him more curious about her, but this was not the time for her to be showing it. Not at all...

Black Mane's eyes twinkled with the blood lust from before. He growled and turned on Sleek sharply. Bringing his scimitar down to the tip of her throat. The rat's blood began to trickle down the sharp end of the blade, casting a crimson glimmer in the sunlight, and dripped down onto her cheek. Black Mane brought his hoof up and rested it on Sleek's chest, knowing full well the pain it caused for the mare as she spat up a little blood. He didn't put any weight on it though, because he didn't want her dieing on him... not yet...

His voice rumbled deeply as growled; "Do ye even know what yer getting into!" It was more of a scolding than a question. His eyes pierced into hers threateningly. The sounds of battle around them seemed to go numb, and even a bright flash from the main deck didn't break Black Mane's intimidating stare. He wanted an answer from the mare beneath him. One that will decide her fate forever more.

(okay, should be caught up to where the battle between soul and black powder is right now.)

  3. "...i'll play your game, and see how long you last"

Black Mane looked at the grassy spheres with a bit of confusion. THOSE were supposed to be bombs!? "Yar Har! I'll let you play my game! But I hope ye know the dice are loaded!" With that he threw another grenade towards the zebra. This one had an extremely short fuse and exploded in mid air. There was a large, and thick cloud of smoke as the contents from inside the bomb ignited. It wasn't a lethal grenade, but rather, a smoke bomb.

Black Mane laughed loudly and ran into the grey cloud on his deck, without giving his opponent time to react as he charged. He had another bomb already in hoof with its fuse lit. Again, this one wasn't lethal, and was filled with the blood of the rats from his ship. He ran up to the Zebra with a wild look in his eye and threw the bomb at their feet. Letting it explode and cover them in the red, sticky substance. If anypony didn't know better, it would have looked like they were fatally wounded. Even those who were covered in the stuff often thought it was their own blood instead of a rats. But Black Mane was the only one who knew what had happened just then, and wasn't in shock.

His scimitar was drawn, and he stared at the Zebra with a blood lust in his eye. He was covered in red too, which just made it look all the more terrifying.

((This is before sleek rolled into Black Mane. A lot has happened since I was able to reply D:))

  4. Black Mane looked down at the cutlass in his deck with an unhappy smug. He didn't like the idea of teaming up, especially when he wasn't the one offering. And to make it worse, this pony was inviting him to fight the navy! His employers! ...Even though Black Mane always did treat them like dirt. He was too successful a privateer for them to do anything about it though. And if this pony didn't know his current position, then maybe he could make this work. He looked Powder in the eye with a rival like smirk. (no rhyme intended)

"Aye, my ship be fine!" He lied, "But if you want to go about fighting, then I'll stick with ye until this fuse burns out." Secretly, the fuse he was referring to was how long until he decided to hand him over to the navy. Maybe he wouldn't at all. But only time would tell. He offered a hoof to Black Powder.

He looked over Powder's shoulder to see the fight going about his ship. "Aye! You best stop that if ye knows whats good for ya!" He chucked a bomb strait for Soul's head and the bomb flew fast, it wasn't one of his small cherry bombs either, but rather, a normal explosive that would hurt like hell if it actually hit you. He didn't watch to see if it connected, and was distracted by the zebra that was approaching him... No... She was approaching Sleek Wind!

"Argh! And what do ye think ye be doin!?" He threw another bomb, hard, and strait for her, just like he had done for Soul. He moved slightly so he stood directly between her and his prisoner. He had taken a strange interest in Sleek and her rifle, and wasn't going to let some zebra take prisoner of his prisoner! Not that they have anywhere to go.... He thought to himself, as he remembered how he had damaged their ship, if not destroyed it.

  5. ((eh, long post. So much to go over.))

"My ribs aren't going to heal themselves!

"Aye, but they didn't break themselves either! You'll live until we reach port." Black Mane retorted to Sleek Wind without looking her way. He was still staring down the three enemies. "Flashy...? I'll show ye Flashy!" As he was speaking, he reached into his coat and pulled out a heavy looking sphere of black metal. He ignited the fuse and threw the bomb at the end of his sentence. It went high over Soul's head and the three looked confused. But Black Mane had done what he had wanted to and gave them a smirk. After a few heartbeats, you could hear a distinctive crunch coming from over the side of the ship followed by a loud bang and the sound of wood splintering. The bomb had landed somewhere on the ship that the three invaders climbed from.

"Bwahaha! You've got no where to run, ye foals!!!" Black Mane thought he had just bagged three more prisoners when he heard a sharp whistling sound coming from above. One of his deck hands shrieked as he was impaled by a pegasus, and a canon ball landed squarely in the middle of his deck, imbedding half of itself in the wood.

"Ello thar, I am caption Black Powder and this!" "IS MY CREW!!!"

Black Mane's mouth opened in shock, which quickly turned to rage, as he saw the wave of fresh pegasi, ready for battle, land upon his ship and strike at his now weary crew. Arrrrghh!! This be going on for too long.... me scallywags have their limits too... he thought to himself. Hmm... those three are starting to pose a threat now, with all these opponents, they could easily make a move. He was looking at Soul's group. But Black Mane couldn't surrender, not on HIS ship. He would fight till his fuse burned out if need be.

"ARGH! Welcome aboard, Black Powder!" He spat out the name, and reached into his coat to pull out two hoof-fulls of small, cherry bombs. The fuses already lit. "Have a blast!" He smirked and tossed the small explosives all around, scattering them and letting them burst into small, smokey flashes that would make any pony think twice before putting a hoof down. In the corner of his eye he saw another, rather large ship approaching. No, not anymore. My crew can't take this!!! He thought in frustration. When really, that ship belonged to the navy who was coming to his aid.

"All enemies of the Sovereign Nation of Equestria are ordered to surrender immediately or face summary execution!"

"Yar!? Is that?" He looked closer at the ship, and saw the sail flowing in the ocean gale. "YARHAR!! It Is! So the navy dogs turned out to be useful for once! Look at that ye salt lickers!" Black Mane beamed at the reinforcements. Even if it was the navy, his contract would protect him and his crew from any punishment. And more importantly, guarantee that these soldiers were on his side in the fight! Black Mane scattered more bombs as the ship came within boarding range, and laughed heatedly into the sea air. The fight kept on, but his safety, and possibly his victory, was assured.

((Is it bad that I actually felt relieved when I saw your post, Cainaim? I guess I'm getting too attached to this.))

  6. "It would be worth more gold and gems then Celestia has in her castle and you don't deserve to touch it!"

"BWAHAHA!!! Miss, you be talking to a captain of a pirate ship! Deserve ain't be in our speech!!!" He said the last line angrily then continued on with a mocking tone of voice. His eyes drifted back to the rifle in his hooves. "But if this gun be worth as much as ye say, Sleek Wind... then maybe it shouldn't be sold at all!" He saw Sleek Wind breath a sigh of relief. "No, no, no... If it's worth so much, then nopony should have it don't ya think? It should belong to the sea!" He snarled the last few words, and watched the look of horror that swept across Sleek's face. Black Mane had no intention of throwing the gun overboard, but this little filly didn't know that. With the last statement, he tossed the gun her way and let it slid right in front of her, just out of reach. He laughed and turned towards his cabin.

No, the ship was too quiet...

He looked around to see three invaders climb up the side of his ship. Some of his crew had already started moving to "welcome" them aboard which caused the silence on the main deck. A few growls could be heard here and there, along with, what was that? a moan? Black Mane's crew was getting weary after the third fight (including the raid from the beginning of the rp that I mentioned). Yar.. I thought we be outta this mess as soon as we left the fog! oh well... three little barnacles on the side of me ship shouldn't be a problem... He smirked at his own thoughts and called out: "Ahoy there! What do you think ye be doin climbin aboard me ship!?" His scimitar was still sheathed, and he looked at what appeared to be the leader with an icy leer.

  7. StringHeart, by all means, throw a monkey wrench!!!! That's the fun with pirate battles is that almost anyone can just come in and keep the fight going. you can chase down blackmane or go into the fog to find red, it's up to you :P Or do something completely different ;) If your decision does involve another character, and you're not sure how to go about it or if you're not sure they're okay with it, PM them.

Chardude, I see no real problems with the character. I just think you're missing a few details that will help give us an idea of who he is.

In your app you mention something about BlackPowder stealing his ship, sword, and a trench coat from the navy. Could you elaborate a bit with a history section? Did he attack and raid the navy? does the scares have anything to do with it? I know you said he was born into it, but how'd he get out?

And also, what does his name mean? you said he likes fighting up close, but does he also like heavy bombardments of cannons?

Could you describe his sword a bit more? if his specialty is up close fighting, then wouldn't he have some sort of special blade?

Which eye is red? Which eye is grey?

  8. (I know! it's so good! xD)

Black Mane looked down at the mare at his feet with a scornful look on his face. The light from the fire reflected off of his face to cast unnatural shadows.across his eyes and muzzle. The rings in his hair sparkled vermillion and the fog floated around his ship in the background.Yet despite how unforgiving he looked, Black Mane couldn't help but feel merciful, still aggressive, but merciful.

" I surrender..." she said painfully, "please... I think I broke a couple of ribs..."

He prodded the mare's sides with his hoof, causing sharp moans of pain and making her roll into a fettle position, holding herself. "Bwaha! Don't fret little one, I'm not gonna kill ye... yet... Scallywags! Tie her up! We'll deal with her latter." He turned to see the enemy crew hastily trying to put out the fire, the images fuzzed from the fog. "And turn the cannons! We'll leave them a parting barrage before we leave... Set sail scallywags!" His crew split up, some going to prep the sails and others rushing to the cannons. Black Mane's ship started to out pace the reaper and Black Mane turned back to see the pony he was fighting earlier watching him leave with one of his crew. There was a certain expression on his face, but Black Mane couldn't make out the details from the fog, which now enveloped the enemy completely.

The cannons were ready at this point. They were all turned to where the general direction of the reaper had been and fired, first one, then two others simultaneously, and finally followed by three more at their own respective pace. Whether he hit them or not wasn't of Black Mane's concern, but rather that they sent a message: something between a taunt, a threat, and a warning. After a few moments his ship exited the fog and Black Mane approached his new prisoner.

"Ye be unfortunate to have jumped that high, Missy." He said to her as if he was talking to a child. He prodded her side again, through the ropes. "Tell me yer name, and what ye were doing on that ship." As he waited for her to respond, he noticed the rifle that his crew had confiscated from her. "Aye.. such a pretty gun ya have miss." He picked it up and ran his hooves over it. "Too bad ye won't be needing it anymore, should fetch a hefty price though.." He looked back at her with an evil smirk, thinking he had hit a soft spot in her feelings. He didn't know anything, but the way the rifle was crafted obviously meant it was something special. "...Wouldn't ya say...?"

  9. "Bah! You'll never get me that way!" Black Mane shouted at the bullet that whistled next to him. He paired Red's swings and countered with his own, only to be parried in return. His sword was a secondary weapon for him, so he could only keep up with the enemy captain and then some. Black Mane swung again, making the curved blade flash in the swing, but it only met the hilt of Red's sword and made a ringing sound.

"Yarrr... Ye ain't so bad ya barnacle." He said as if they weren't fighting at all. "But you'll have ta do better!" He paired another blow and then made a heavy swing that wasn't meant to hit Red, but make him stumble and throw him off balance. The blades clashed loudly as they hit each other. Both Black Mane and Red recoiled, and instead of following up, Black Mane took off into the fog and out of sight from Red. "Catch me if ye can!" He called as Red turned into a silhouette and then faded from vision completely.

Black Mane weaved through the fights that were going on between his crew, and the other. Only stopping when he was a good distance form anyponyelse. Red could have been chasing him, but Black Mane didn't see anypony charging for him. "Now then... If they wanna fight on me ship, then I'll take care of theirs..." He reached into his brown coat and pulled out a red tinted bottle. There was a cloth shoved into the neck. Black Mane set fire to the cloth and looked over at the other ship. He couldn't see details, but the shadow of the mast and sails were visible. He let the cloth burn some and then threw the molotov.

The molotov spun in the air and landed with the sound of breaking glass underneath the main mast, which also happened to be where the crow's nest was. The fire from the cloth instantly spread to the spilled contents of the bottle. The main deck of the ship lit up in bright red flames. The flames started burning a black smoke, and the whole image added to the eeriness of the fight. The flames were blurred by the fog into a ominous red glow in the background, and Black Mane's eyes twinkled crimson from the sight.

He yelled loudly for all to hear; "Yarr! Look at yer ship! Ya might still be able to save it ya know! Bwahaha!!!"

  10. Black Mane watched as his bombs exploded with a shrill sound, followed by a cloud of dust. He heard shouting, and when the smoke blew away with the ocean breeze, he saw that Wood Wing had been taken by his crew. He laughed loudly at the captain in his own net. The crazy sparkle in his eyes from earlier faded briefly.

"Bwahaha!! See? Even you're own crew know what be best for ya! Think twice before ye challen-" He was cut off by the sound of a large jar breaking and an ominous fog sweeping over his ship. "What the!?" *cough* The glass ball that Wood Wing's crew had dropped was filled with the cursed air from Blue Moon Rock (same place Harla was coming from in the beginning) and when it was broken, the putrid mist surrounded his ship and everything within cannon's range. The shaman had somehow vacuumed some of it into that ball. Black Mane coughed more. *cough, inhale, cough*

    "Go! Go! Go!"

Black Mane looked up to see the silhouettes of ponies jumping and swinging onto his ship. He must not have seen them coming with the fight going on. The fog from the glass ball limited your sight to only a swords length in front of you, making things quite eerie on the ship. "BLAST! Scallywags! Get ready to welcome these unwanted guests!" He yelled to his crew and then quietly whispered to himself. "It seems everypony's trying to attack us today! ...first that masked fella, now this!"

He launched himself into the fray, landing squarely in front of a blue earth pony with a shirt that's red and white striped, and a red bandana. (Red) BlackMane's bombs were sheathed in his coat and his scimitar drawn. He glared at the pony with a furious look. "GET OF ME SHIP!!!" He swung a warning swing at the pony and his crew began to battle with the others.

The clashing of blades and shouts of battle filled the the darkened atmosphere of the two ships. The fog enveloped the whole scene with a dark, almost purple mist that was thick and impairing. The two crews began their skirmish against one another.

  11. A pirate with a death wish? Sure! That'll be awesome, and I can finally add a "The Legend of _____ comes to an End..." in the accepted apps. ^^ that will be perfect! xD And you're not late, no one's late. It's pirates!!! Anyone can sail onto the horizon at anytime! :D

We're doing this in a single thread. (links already provided on first page.) So far it hasn't been confusing, and you can sort of see where everyone is. (btw, I think it's hilarious that there is a shipping going on during the battle xD it's like, you read all this combat and then a romantic scene and then back to combat. It's so funny) I see why having multiple threads would work, but this just makes bumping into each others characters easier. And that's where the fun is x3

And just a heads up to everyone, I'm thinking about playing another character besides Black Mane, but he would need a ship to pick him up like Dusk's character. Any volunteers? :P And I can just say he's been on your ship the whole time if you're already in the water ^^

  12. Captain Black Mane watched the attacker fall with satisfaction. The rest of his enemies crew was either crippled and surrounded, or in the water calling for help. The sound of their agony stirred a new thrill in Black Mane, the one that always made him go a little crazy with his bombs. A spark flickered in his eyes.

He watched as Wood Wing got up and cursed at him, while trying to hold together his now crumbling mask. The sight was creepy, watching a pony's face fall apart. Black Mane was unscathed though, his heart pumping from the blast before and the thrill filling his whole being. He watched as Wood Wing made his charge, and calmly held his ground.

Instead of drawing his scimitar, he pulled out two more grenades, one in each hoof and laughed, "HAhaha!" his eyes growing wider and the spark in them continuing to shine. "Aye! You be makin' a mistake, sky-lubber!" He lit the fuses simultaneously and threw one, then the other in the path of Wood Wing's charge. He didn't care that he was on his own ship. It was tough enough to take a few of his own bombs. And Black Mane wanted nothing more than a good blast or two right now. "You be messing with Captin' Black Mane! The Black Bombardier!" He wanted something more as well, so he didn't throw any ordinary explosive grenades. No, these were special.

The two bombs fizzed as they flew in the air, filled with deadly shrapnel, and the intent to kill.

  13. Black Mane flinched as a bullet whizzed into the deck of his ship some feet away. "Arr! You know nothing of me mother!" Black Mane retorted to a rather stinging insult. His crew began firing pistols shots, unloading rifles, and blasting blunderbusses at the encircling pegasi. Black Mane saw that they were keeping them from making any steady shots, but were only grazing the drafts of the feathered fiends. He saw some of the pegasi from his own crew were gearing themselves to fly up and fight them. "No you Scallywags! I'll handle this..." He reached into his coat and pulled out a rather dark looking bomb. "Yar...har.. harrrr..." He lit the short fuse and tossed it up into the air, directly above them, and somewhat close to the one with the mask that was blitzing for his main sail. "Get down!" at his words the bomb exploded, igniting the special gunpowder inside for a blast that made a thunder like boom. The bomb created a massive shock wave that, for just a second, split the soundbarrier and created a huge concussive blast, stunning anyone that wasn't prepared for it and sending some immediately into unconsciousness. Black Mane handled explosives regularly, and even from the distance that the bomb was, he still felt a forceful push on him towards the deck; his ears immediately started ringing. "Har-HAR! See how ye deal with that ya foals!!" Taunting them made him feel more triumphant. The winged ponies wouldn't be killed off, but their flying days were over, at least for now. This battle was tacking place on HIS ship! It would be fought HIS way! ...loud, and with cheap tricks... The only thing Black Mane worried about was that the blast was so loud, that it might attract attention.

  14. Soul Flare, a magically inclined pirate who conjures up his own weapons? I approve. But is he the captain of his ship? just curious.

QueenChrysalis, (I see what you did there) the ship is fine (it looks cool :kissy: ) and then the thing with ghost pirates is they can be almost anything. The thing I had in mind is that their spirits are tangible, and can be slashed by a sword and injured like any other pony (but having all the powers of being undead). OR you could give them a special lore or back story with a hidden weakness. Like a necklace they wear, and without it they fade to nothing, or a sword that gives them their presence in this world. Something like that. Or maybe they're bound to their ship and can't go anywhere unless the ship is close by, meaning sinking it would end their rein. There's so much possibility with ghost pirates, it's really up to you and your creativity. As long as they aren't invincible I will consider almost anything.

Present the app and I'll approve it if I see that it works. If not, then I'll point out what I find unnecessary and then we can fix it :)
