1. (After much turmoil and confusion, I return home for my regularly scheduled roleplaying. I apologize I wasn't at a computer -- family issues called.)

Papyrus internally began banging her head against the wall for not being cautious enough. The back of her mind told her that there wasn't much she could do with a stern father's undying love standing in the way, but that part of her brain was being quickly being pillaged by the soldiers of anxiety. She gave the most convincing (and most phony) smile in a long time when the green unicorn pony was caught off guard by a bell behind her. Her eyes shot open faster than the realization that it was their food ready. Embarrassed, she turned and grabbed the tray with the help of her glowing horn. She sat down at a vacant table and gestured invitingly for Black Hole and his darling filly to take a seat opposite of her. This small diner beat most other food courts in Canterlot in the field of seating. Pap shifted her weight on the large cushion. "Take a seat," she suggested.

Black Hole took a seat, with Nebula being only a head taller than the table before them. Handing her food, Black turned to Papyrus and sat his helmet on the table. "So, Miss Papyrus. What do you do for a living?"

While this went on, Nebula was cutely trying to eat the burger, which was too large for her tiny filly jaw to envelop. She scrunched her nose, trying to find a method to the delicious oats and bread. This went unnoticed by Black, who was watching Papyrus in keen interest. "And tell me of this... Calypso."

  2. "Wait...you mean you didn't know she was at the salon?" The mare asked curiously. She was nearly positive that the filly's father knew of her whereabouts earlier, but now her sureness dwindled. Seeing the stallion surprised made her continue. "She was at the Shockblast Salon with C

Black Hole would turn his attention fully to his new-found acquaintance. "Shockblast Salon? That's halfway across town from her home. I was only called out here due to a disturbance, which led me to you and my filly." Turning his attention to the young filly, he gave her a stern look, "Little Nebula, you're going to take me to this salon. At least that explains your new manecut."

The filly shrank back, but was at least reassured from Black Hole's nuzzling to her forehead. "Not in trouble, sweetie, just need to have a chat with this mysterious 'C' pony."

  3. Now, Papyrus was not particularly known for her generousness. This was of course not because she didn't have a caring and kind soul willing to help anypony who was down on their luck, but rather because she never really could work up the courage to express herself. A homeless pony sitting in the gutter would rip her heart out, but an interaction with somepony who she wasn't acquainted with did not appeal to her that much. She'd walk past him, the soft jingle of coins in her saddlebags as she walked past overwhelming her with guilt.

This meant the unicorn did not have much experience. This also meant that when the pony first expressed her inner compassion for a complete stranger, she was completely unsure what to do once thanked for it. Pap looked into Black Hole's name-fitting eyes for a moment, but then her eyes closed and she sighed. No reason to be nervous, she said to herself in her head, just grab the order and quit being such a scaredy-pony. Papyrus cleared her throat and looked up at the shop's menu, trying to sound unworried and nonchalant. "I'd like to purchase two daisy sandwiches, first one with white bread and the other with whole wheat, and a short glass of water." Pap's facade of nonchalance worked well, though, and the clerk nodded eagerly and sped off.

Nebula would quickly chime in her own, "Oatburger and Hayfries!" Though she didn't really see if the clerk noticed, or even took her order. With a squeal however, the veteran would lift his daughter up onto his head. She looked like a little filly plumage on the stallion's head.

"Where, by chance, did you catch my little star, Miss Papyrus?" He pried, waiting for their food to arrive. "She's normally out here on the streets, and Quasar or one of my cadets find her wandering. No thanks to..." He quickly clear his throat, trying to keep himself from going into a sour demeanor. Looking down at the mare, he'd poke at the filly on his head, much to her squealing enjoyment as the tip of his hoof poked her.

  4. Shrunken pupils and a rapidly increasing heartbeat, at the point where it seemed like it would thump right out of Papyrus's chest any second, it seemed like they were the only things she could remember. Foalnapping? Papyrus would look at her hooves if she wasn't paralyzed in an utter fear of Nebula's father. She would never do something so absolutely vile. His bright red eyes threatened her, and his words certainly twisted the knife in her wound. The pony felt a stinging in the corners of her eyes, even though she knew it was just a misunderstanding, she felt like she would break down any second. The small filly behind her seemed like she was depending on a sort of strength and courage that the Manehattan pony just didn't have. However, despite the horrible urge to cower and burst into tears, she shakily stood on her hooves.

"I-I'm sorry-- sir! I just..." The mare was sputtering and tripping over her words like they were huge obstacles. Papyrus sighed. "I was just getting her something to eat. I saw her at the barber, helping out the stylist. She seemed hungry and a bit upset, so I tried to get her some lunch." Despite her weak explanation, the pony hoped that Nebula Rose's father would accept it.

Nebula's father, Black Hole, softened slightly at her words. He took a shaky breath, and finally his eyes softened to whatever point the veteran could do. "...You're taking the time out of your day to help feed my daughter." He seemed slightly taken aback, but kept it deply to himself through a stoic face. "I... have never met another pony in this city who'd do such a thing." Turning to Ruby, he'd nod and dismiss the young stallion.

Ruby, giving her sister one last glance, departed from the scene and disappeared down the street.

Taking his helmet off, the stallion's crimson mane was all over the place, untidy and unkempt under the plumage of his helmet. "I apologize for my shouting. My daughter... I can't see her due to issues with my wife, and my job keeping me away." Sticking his hoof out, his mouth curled into a smile. "Sergant-At-Arms Black Hole, Fourth Canterlot Patrol Squadron. Please, order whatever you two would like."

  5. Nebula would nudge Papyrus forward and smiled, "Come on, Miss Papyrus! I know this pony, he's the best pegasus chef in all of Equestria!" She'd tried to pull the larger pony along with her to the cafe. Getting in line, she'd be wide eyed at the menu, trying to decide exactly what she wanted.

However, there was a thunderous voice that echoed along the street, turning heads and scaring someponies. "Nebula!"

Said filly would squeal, hiding under Papyrus as a pair of guards marched towards the cafe. The two were intimidating in their sheer demeanor, and their polished golden armor reflected against the sunlight. The former was shorter, and was a splitting image of Nebula, and the eyepatch was a dead giveaway to just who he was. It was Ruby Quasar!

The latter, however, was more intimidating. He was a unicorn stallion of a serious demeanor, with a deep crimson mane and bright red eyes. He was simply an epitome of strength, his muscles toned and built for a fight. Running along his muzzle was a deep scar, marring the stallion's face.

Almost immediately, the older one was in Papyrus' face and looking down at her. "Miss, give me a good reasoning as to why you're with my foal and why I received multiple notices of a foalnapping?" Ruby would simply stand at attention, but kept an eye on the filly.

  6. Papyrus nodded at the small filly, admiring the happy aura that she gave off with the pep in her step as she trotted over. However, at the sight of the bits being held in her mouth, the unicorn shifted her weight from hoof to hoof. "You wouldn't wanna lose that, exactly..." the green mare leaned down, took the bits, and then put them in the white foal's saddlebags. She checked her own orange saddlebags for her things, gestured for Nebula Rose to come over, and stepped outside of the salon.

Nebula would happily follow behind Papyrus, the filly pausing to give Calypso a wave goodbye and disappeared outside of the salon. Stomach growling, and still slightly drowsy, she kept extra close to her new-found friend. She was smiling, brightly, happy as she was before.

  7. Nebula would fix her things, setting her textbooks and papers down on the desk. Double checking her stuff, the filly would nuzzle her picture of her family after taking it back. Finding a mirror, she'd check over her new mane style and smile brightly, the blue highlights going perfectly with her.

"O-O-Okay, I-I'm r-r-r-ready!" She'd smile brightly, dressed in her saddlebag, her bag filled with bits now firmly clamped in her mouth.

  8. Papyrus thought for a moment. She was completely lost in this area, despite the map in her saddlebags. It only covered the train's path, and unfortunately all she knew was that this shop was located at the very last stop. The city pony looked over at Calypso, a questioning look in her eyes that obviously pleaded for information to help the poor scared foal. She couldn't tell left from right in this town, and her social anxieties didn't help at all. Fortunately, the warm welcome of the citizens that she'd met so far made her a lot less intimated by the town. However, that didn't help the situation at hoof at all, except maybe having a few ponies she wouldn't mind asking for a bit of help. Papyrus walked over to the filly and gave a reassuring stroke through her mane, feeling Nebula's warmth swallowing her whole from a few feet away.

"We should be able to find a place for you to stay and grab a bite, it shouldn't be all too difficult." Papyrus said, trying to douse her words in the sort of warmth and comfort she remembered her mother using.

Nebula slowly smiled, slowly slipping off her chair and pulling Papyrus' into a hug that she could manage. She seemed suitably more cheered up by the mare's words. "O-Okay!" Just at that, a low rumbling emitted from her stomach, and the filly smiled. She knew it'd be nicer finding a place to stay compared to going back home and dealing with her mother.

Calypso Trotted to the awaiting mare, thankful for a Customeer to break the uneasiness of The backroom drama. Putting on A bright and happy facade, Calypso gave a kind smile to Stardust.

"Welcome to Shockblast salon! I am the owner and The best mane stylest around, Calypso Cuts! Take a seat over there, Miss." Calypso pointed to a Nearby chair, with tipper slowly counting bits on the next chair over. The unicorn then cantered to the back room, and stuck his head in.

"How do you feel about giving me a hoof with this one, Neb?"

Nebula would frown and shook her head, "I-I'm h-hungry, g-gonna go f-find s-something to e-e-eat with M-Miss P-P-Paa..." She seemed cutely unable to say Papyrus' name. "I-Is that o-okay with y-y-you?"

  9. "Say, uh, Nebula," Papyrus began."You look a teeny bit drowsy. You should probably take five, huh?" the mare did underestimate a bit, and Rose's drooping eyes made it seem like she hadn't gotten a good night's sleep in a few years. Calypso reassured her quite a bit by now, and after letting out her long stream of tears the poor filly probably had an awful headache. Pap wasn't sure whether she was doing this as work for her family or just to occupy her free time, but she was sure that CC's kind heart and good nature (at least, as far as she knew) would dictate her to go calm down a bit, and likely take the rest of the day off. It wasn't like he couldn't handle the shop on his own. A grown stallion not managing a small barber without trouble would be silly. The green mare gently poked the back of Rose's head with her nose, taking note of her mane's typical filly scent that filled her brain with a lovely nostalgia.

"Lunch break seems good about now." Papyrus suggested.

Nebula would nod, and proceed to realize that she didn't have anything for lunch. Looking down, she spoke in rather strained voice from her sore throat, "I-I.. um n-n-never packed a l-lunch b-b-before...." She'd quickly put the crook of her foreleg to her muzzle and cough. Finding something, she quickly cleared her leg of the nasty mucus.

"D-Do you k-k-know a-a p-place that w-w-won't k-kick m-m-me o-out?" She'd ask Papyrus innocently, seeing as she didn't have anywhere else she could get off.

Calypso took a look at the clock, with the small hand right on 1:00. He stood up, and wiped his arm of the tears of one troubled Rose.

" it's lucky that we delt with this on a Tuesday, Neb. Perhaps you should take a break. And whatevers going on... Just ask, and i'll listen, okay?" Calypso told Nebula, and excused himself. trotting to Tipper, They quickly exchanged Bits, leaving tipper with a shiny new tail and Calypso with some shiny new bits. He then shrugged his head at Papyrus, idicating he'd like to speak to her for a second.

Nebula would nod to Calypso, promising herself she'd explain absolutely everything to Calypso after her break. She gave him a determined nod, but squeaked and held her hooves up to her head, which started into giving her one hell of a headache.

(( Due apologies for being so short with this, I'm a bit drowsy when writing it. ))

  10. Calypsos eyes were wide at seeing the massive amount of emotion released. How Could she of lived with that welting ball of sadness be kept down for so long? Once again, Calypso began to wipeNebulas face off with his trusty hankerchief, siftly patting her. He pulled up her chin with his hoof.

"Now, didn't that feel good to get that all out? That heavy weight in your stomach is gone, right?" Calypso asked. He chuckled softly, realizing how much he was sounding like a doctor from the Ponyvile Asilum.

Nebula, face and eyes reddened, would gently nod up at Calypso. She didn't want to honestly talk, just felt... really sleepy all of the sudden. From Calypso's point of view, she'd look honestly a bit drowsy.

  11. Calypso was startled with the sudden entrance of Papyrus, feeling Nebula lift her head off his arm. The way Papyrus was looking at him wasnt incoraging.

"uh, Employies only?" Calypso jested slyly. Calypso turned his head away and wrapped an arm around Nebula. "This little one was telling a little rhyme to her family." Calypso quickly checked Nebula for an approving glance, and levetated the photo over to Papyrus. However, his attention was quickly diverted from the mare when he saw Nebula quickly try to stop and hide Her emotions from the customer. "Hey, hey, its okay, just let it all out. We all get a little weepy sometimes. just let it all out, remove the badness, the terrible feelings."

After letting Calypso show the customer her family photo, she looked up to her boss and listened to his words, and promptly did so.

Digging her face into his side, she finally broke down again. This time she wasn't crying softly, she worked up to a point she was nearly shouting her cries. Holding onto the stallion, she vented all of her feeling. She blubbered, cried, and drooled slightly as she vented all of her feelings. She was shaking heavily as she tried to apologize, only to tangle her words into a incomprehensible mush.

It took her a good ten minutes, but finally she quieted down into soft shudders, a sore throat, and shaking.

  12. Nebula would look up and notice Papyrus, her eyes bloodshot and rather wet with tears. She was a bit shocked to see the mare standing there and realized that she might've heard the entire thing. She couldn't do anything to salvage her attitude but slumped.

Nebula felt ashamed a customer walked in and saw her like this, further digging herself into a hole that she was still a stupid filly. Wiping her eyes, she tried to hold back from crying. She always did this, every single job she had a meltdown and eventually lost employment and again relied on her elder brother and father. To this, it pretty much sealed her fate as being fired, sure that Calypso would do so.

  13. Calyoso quickly abondoned asking about her other brother, seeing it was a sensitive topic. "what was your brother like?" said calypso, seating himself next to Rose. she really needed to get all this out.

    Nebula shuddered as she started, "H-He was n-n-nice, a-a-always g-gave m-me s-s-stuff w-w-when l-l-living with m-m-mommy." She pointed her hoof at her saddlebags, the pouch of bits lying next to it. "H-He s-said t-t-that w-w-was h-his p-pay f-f-for work."

As if on instict, Nebula leaned her head into Calypso's side and continued, "H-He w-w-worked a-at a m-m... s-shop place."

  14. Calypso picked up the photo and looked at it closer. It was a very well took photo, perfectly aligned and lit, a proffesinal photographer photo. Calypso clipped a hoof against the photo.

"What is your brothers name? and what happened to the other one?"

Nebula pointed her hoof at her big brother, "R-Ruby Q-Quasar." Then pointed to her twin, "H-He w-w-was S-S-Spectral C-C-Cosmos..." At the mention of his name, Nebula turned and scrunched her face, trying not to cry again.

  15. Nebula would look up at Calypso and back to her photo, and sniffed. "M-my b-big b-brother, a-a-and my t-t-twin b-brother." She leaned her head back down and stared at it, looking at her big brother.

"H-H-He's l-living w-w-with D-Daddy up a-at w-w-work." She, however, refused to explain her other brother. All she did was let out another sniff and wipe her eyes with her foreleg.

  16. Calypso quickly began to levatate loose bits and papers into Nebula's bag, pausing only for a moment when he saw Nebula hurrily stuff some unknown object into her bag. After all of the mess was cleaned up, Calypso clicked the bag shut, and went over to Papyrus to continue working on her mane.

" This isnt the first job you've tried out for a job, Rose? Or was the messy mane just a way to show your parrents up, " I dont need your money, mum and pop!"? Calypso gently teased. He didn't need to know how the filly could obtain so many bits, as long as it wasnt nefariously gotten.

"Just about done, Papyrus. unless you want to stick around..."

Aside from the soon to be finished back, Papyrus's mqne was turning out wonderfully, , the back left long, and right of the bangs left short. the right side was curled up as to conciel the eye. The finishing touch was to tie together a ponytail with a small hairpin. "What do you think, miss papyrus? I think its gives off a alluring, mysterious vibe, a feminine fatale, you know?"

    (phone posting. :/)

Nebula would pause, then slowly lift her saddlebags up and look over to Calypso, and spoke in a sad tone but without any stutter, "Daddy always wears that dumb gold stuff, and Mommy doesn't care how I look." She then trotted into the back. There she dug out the mysterious object.

It was a small framed picture of herself, looking slightly younger with a adolescent stallion and another colt. The two looked like a splitting images of Rose, with the same hair colour and coat, except the colt's eyes were a lighter shade of blue and the older wore a eyepatch. Propping it up, Nebula just stared at it. She honestly didn't want to explain where the money came from, or what she was doing with all that stuff.

She'd gently knock her forehead on the table before looking back up at them. She'd then gently tap the adolescent stallion's forehead, "One, Two. Always new. Three, Four. Adventures to do." She'd repeat it.

"Why am I such a clumsy mess?" She mumbled to herself.

  17. Tipper motioned for Calypso to stop for a second, and got up to help Nebula clean up the mess. "This sort of thing happens to me all the time, don't worry. Usually it's from my groove." He says as he picks up the textbooks.

Nebula would quickly wipe her eyes, trying to keep her papers from scattering and muttered a weak 'Thank you'. However, she'd pause and grab something from the pile of bits and quickly hide it away from Tipper. She'd proceed to grab the bits lying and try to put them each inside her bag. It would've been surprising seeing as this little filly had so much bits on her.

  18. Nebula would lie down, watching as Calypso did his work and continued acting funny around Miss Papyrus. Then with a sudden realization, "Oh no!"

She jumped to her hooves and charged adorably into the back room and quickly returned with her saddlebags. However, still winded, she only caused herself another adorable accident. This time she tumbled directly into the counter, and ended up spilling her saddlebags across the floor. Textbooks too old for her age, along with paper and pencils spilling across the ground. Aswell, a bag full of bits would spill out, giving the paper a golden shine with the metal coins.

"No no nooooo!" She squealed, quickly trying to pick up her mess. She finally messed up, big time. Trying desperately to shove the papers back into the saddlebags and causing a even bigger mess.

  19. Calypso softly laughed when he saw Papyrus's face quickly go red. One trait everypony agreeded on who knew Calypso is that he had a silver toungue, able to smooze and flirt with the best of them, and even able to quickly gain connections in any town. Saying he abused his talents, however, is another thing : he simply enjoyed the dance of words, romanticly or at work. Calysos face pursed as he clipped his hoof against the floor.

"Miss rose, give me the bar with a 3 on it, a pail of water, #2 sissors, and a 7- no, 8 comb." Calypso ordered. " and bring over to mr.tipper the bottle laybeled neighon green, and several squares of tin."

Nebula would quickly abandon her previous endeavor, lifting from her spot and rushing around the room with speed. She'd slowly bring all the supplies ordered by her boss, first the number three bar, followed by bringing a pail of water, and bring the scissors and comb in her mouth, setting them with the rest.

By the time she'd brought the bottles to Mr. Tipper, the little filly was panting up a storm. She wasn't honestly the kind for exercise, and running back and forth so quickly tired her out. Taking a moment, she sat down beside the counter and tried to catch her breath.

  20. Nebula would trot over, obediently following Calypso like the good assistant she was and watch the scene unfold. She tilted her head curiously while watching, but kept pointedly silent. She watched how her boss acted around Papyrus, having only seen such actions during the last Hearts and Hooves Day. So why was Mister Calypso doing this stuff to this nice mare?

In the meantime, she made herself useful by going to retrieve something she needed, only to adorably tumble back onto her face with another squeak.

  21. Papyrus shook her head. "No thank you, I don't need anything in particular."she replied. The unicorn took a moment to enjoy the comfort of her seat, closing her eyes and enjoying the peace and quiet of the salon.

Nebula would return to Calypso's side, but nervously look over to the new customer. However, from her hooves tapping on the ground, side to side, she'd appear more nervous than satisfied.
