  1. Hehe, I'm just eager to play, and I know I don't have much time to write when I'm not on week-end right now ! Anyways, I tidied up the first part of my pony's application form, and I added those four paragraphs to her background : I hope it's okay. It tells about how she got her cutie mark, and what she wants to do with her life (or more exactly, how little she knows about that last part). I'm worried about making that story too long. I'll re-read everything tomorrow to spot grammar mistakes and typos and stuff. Unfortunately, still no pictures It will have to wait, but I hope that's the last thing there is to add !
  2. This week have been a difficult week so far for me, and I haven't had the time to work the last details of my character. I will have time tomorrow however, I expect it to be done by then !
  3. That looks great ! We have "museum nights" in Paris too, but I think it's nothing special, they just stay open all night if I remember correctly. But since museums are free for me, I never went into a special event ... I just avoid the crowds as much as I can.
  4. Hello ! Thanks for the remarks Kudalyn and PaintedWings. I'll add information as soon as I can. Unfortunately I don't have the time to finish the last parts of this character today (works gets in the way, and I have an exam tomorrow). I will put a wip tag during the time it takes me to find pictures and tweak the text.
  5. I'm Matthew, I'm 22. I discovered my little ponies via a thread on the bay12games forums (dwarf fortress is a pretty awesome game by the way) ; there they talked a lot about that new cartoon was awesome and yet they felt weird for liking it because it's supposed to be for little girls. I gave it a try. And watched every episode in one go, up to episode 22. Then eagerly waited to see the next episode released on youtube.
  6. Uh ... honestly I haven't thought much about it. Would a general store do ? It's the kind of store I would like, one that sells a wide of unrelated goods, like a small, family-owned, supermarket. I am not sure of the term however ; maybe "grocery store" would be more fitting.
  7. Hello everypony ; it is one am, so I will go to sleep and check back this character sheet for typos and mistakes. If you find any mistake in my english, or anything else that's wrong, you can tell me if you want, I'll be very happy to know it ! I will try to add pictures too. I hope the character summary isn't too big, if it is you can tell me so, I will cut it. I hope playing a handicapped pony is acceptable, and I hope her accident isn't too extravagant or something. Again, if it is not, please tell me and I'll gladly change it ! Thank you very much for letting me play here !
  8. [ Pony Related Character ] Name: Whirlwind. Sex: Female. Age: Filly. Species: Pegasus. Pelt Color: Light Pink. Mane/Tail Color & Style: Nearly-white pink, disheveled ; Whirlwind doesn't usually take care of her mane. Eye Color: Emerald green. Cutie Mark: A green swirl. Physique: Whirlwind is a bit small in stature, but otherwise looks like every other pegasus. Her back left leg have been amputated, and her front left arm wears an impressive scar. Her body also wears some small scars and marks, signs of her daredevil nature. She can't walk. Residence: Cloudsdale Occupation: Mostly, she skips school, and helps her family running their store. Motivation: Whirlwind lives to fly ! Likes: Flying! Crazy stunts that works! Crazy stunts that fails! Adventures! and sweets ... Dislikes: Safety rules, rules in general, and any lack of activity. Character Summary: Whirlwind was sitting on her chair, making sure not to move her broken arm, idly flipping the pages of a comic book she wasn't really reading, waiting for something, anything, to happen. The little pink pegasus was clearly bored out of her skull. Because, really, why did she had to take care of the shop, all by herself, all day long ? There were no customers at this time of day, so all she had to do was to sit and wait, wait until her dad decides that it's enough for today, my dear, and that she can go back to her room while he takes care of the evening shift, but please don't overexert yourself, your leg still needs to rest, it's not completely healed yet. Pffft. What a boring day. Actually, she knew very well why. Whirlwind wished she could go outside and fly, if only for a little bit of time, but no. She was grounded for losing her leg and breaking her arm in a particularly ambitious flying stunt, and working at the shop when nopony was around forced her to stay in place. It punished her well and gave her body the rest it needed to heal. It was a very clever move from her parents, true ... but she hated to admit it. The pink pegasus put her head on the counter and sighed. She couldn't even deny they were right, this time. She had made a big mistake. Whirlwind never paid much attention to safety rules, always there to stop people from having fun ; she was always the first to try dangerous and exciting flying tricks, which often ended in spectacular crashes and accidents - she was a living flying hazard. But this time, she went too far. Flying was what she loved to do. Winning obstacle races, trying strange stunts, flying fast all the time, now that was fun ! She could never quite understand how could other ponies enjoy spending their time in a library, or sitting on a chair at school, or something boring like that. Life meant action ! This line of thought often put her in trouble, but she didn't care. She could live with a few scratches and burns, she could live with a lot of parental scolding ; this was how she was, and her cutie mark in the shape of a stylized twister showed it clearly enough. She earned that cutie mark a few years ago. Whirlwind already loved to fly, and she was spending her time practicing (and crashing on the ground too). But she didn't liked to show off what she could do at the time : her unorthodox methods and her many failed attempts only brought her mockery from the other ponies. Until one day she decided she had enough of it, and settled to prove she wasn't just another clumsy pony. That day she skipped class, climbed on top of the classroom's building, waited patiently for everypony to get out, gathered all the courage she could, and with a loud "Hey!" grabbed their attention. Then, wings closed, she dived. She let herself fall and gain speed ; at the last moment she opened her wings and turned abruptly, grasing the ground, barely avoiding a crash. She made a circle around her classmates with a grin, then bolted upwards again. Whirlwind made all the stunts she knew by heart, and, getting tired, started to descend toward the class in concentric circles. Truth be told, it wasn't much, really ; a little risk here, a few simple stunts there. But that little performance earned her a big smile on her face, a little bit more respect from her classmates, a good scolding from the teacher and her parents for skipping school, and her cutie mark. It turned out she just needed to assert to others, and to herself, what she really loved to do to get it. Whirlwind grew more confident in herself and slowly turned into a flying hazard after that. Sometimes she would crash into buildings and other ponies, sometimes she would gently fly under the sun or the midnight stars. She loved to fly, to feel the wind around her, and she loved her dangerous tricks most of all. It didn't helped her pick a job she'd like, which worried her family, so she considered just about everything. After all, as long as she didn't do the same thing as her parents, it would be okay. Handling an interesting type of shop, working as a mailmare, or some type of weather work ... Well, weather work was off the list now. You can't buck a cloud with only one leg. Whirlwind rolled her eyes and looked at the ceiling of the shop, briefly exasperated by her own stupidity. All this because, she remembered with a hint of guilt, she broke into that weather factory at night. All the little pegasus wanted was a big playground, with lots of space to build up speed, lots of obstacles she'll have to avoid abruptly, a place where she could train and perform her moves, all those things she couldn't do in the crowded city of Cloudsdale. It looked like a great idea. There weren't many guards, as there wasn't anything to steal or sabotage really, and there was a lot of space, and lots of strange devices she could probably play with. She was free to do anything she wanted, and she did. It was fun, at first. Whirlwind could remember the five first minutes of fun she had there, before she crashed into something and everything went black ... And then the pink pony woke up in a hospital. She felt exhausted, as if she just woke up after an especially tiring party ; the nurse seemed happy to see her wake up ; a few doctors went in to check her condition afterwards. They told her she had an accident, and that she needed a lot of rest because she had lost a lot of blood or something. Whirlwind was just too exhausted to pay attention to what was going on at that time. She fell asleep again. Whirlwind woke up, probably the day after, surrounded by her parents, and a doctor ; her family looked relieved, yet strangely worried. The small filly waved hello with a tired hoof, to tell them she was awake now. Why were they looking so scared ? She was fine, she felt fine, and tired, she felt very tired, but mostly she felt fine, really. This looked like any other big crash she lived before, well it probably was a bit bigger than the others since she spent a few days in a hospital, but it couldn't be that bad after all, right ? Right ? Her parents remained uneasily silent, and the doctor talked. He talked a lot, he talked about how she had an accident, how she fell into the weather station's hail-grinder, how the guardian, alerted by all the racket she made, found her and called an ambulance, and how she needed extensive surgery afterwards. The filly started to panic - extensive surgery ? But she felt fine ! What was wrong ? Was it her wings ? Will she still be able to fly ? Oh how scared she was ! But it wasn't her wings, the doctor reassured. Her wings were fine. It was her leg, and her arm. He said in a sad voice that her left leg got caught in the hail-grinder, and that they couldn't save it, they had to amputate it. Her left arm they did managed to save, but it probably wouldn't work well anymore ; and they seriously doubted she would ever walk again. After what the doctor said, her parents came next to her, clearly worried about her reaction ; but, strangely enough, she felt relieved. She could still fly. She looked at them with a smile, and tried to be reassuring. She could still fly. She'll be fine, she promessed. Her mom actually burst in silent sobs. Whirlwind promessed that she was fine, that she was happy as long as she could fly, that she will never do such a stupid thing again, that she'll pay attention from now on, that she would act with more caution. She did all she could to reassure and console them. The little filly felt terribly guilty ; they had been angry at her antics before, but she had never seen them so worried and so sad. Whirlwind sighed, her head still on the shop's counter, twisting a lock of her mane with her able hoof. It wasn't a happy memory, but it wasn't one she wanted to forget. It was in this day that she realized her actions could not only hurt her, but those who cared about her as well, and it literally costed her an arm and a leg to learn that. She paid a little more attention to what she did now ; she was still a careless daredevil, it was who she was, after all, but she did not wanted to make her mom cry because of her again. She looked at the shop's door. She spent a few weeks in the hospital, resting her injuries and making sure her condition remained stable, and then she went back home. Her parents punished her, which was understandable, really, and now she had to take care of the shop when nopony was around. The pegasus sighed again. It'll be over soon, she knew it, but she hated every minute she had to spend doing nothing at all here. It really was a good punition. She just couldn't wait to get out and fly again !
  9. Thank you for the welcome Fluttershy vi Britannia ! I speak english and french because people talked to me in both languages when I was a kid I have no merit in being bilingual - it just came naturally, in the same way everypony speaks english here because they grew up in english-speaking families. But it's really useful to be bilingual. I am lucky to have that !
  10. Thank you for the welcome everypony ! I'm half-french on my mother's side too ! But I spent nearly all my life in Paris, so I always speak french, never english. It's sad. High five, other Matthew ! The pony on your avatar smokes too much ! Thank you Doc Hoof ! Thank you too Mlptales, I've read the rules yesterday night, I'll check if I haven't missed anything.
  11. Hello ! My name is Matthew, and I live in Paris. I found this place via Equestria Daily ; you have a rp forum here, and I've been longing to write in english for quite some time now, so I joined in. My english is very rusty, so I apologize in advance for all the mistakes I can do (feel free to point them at me !). I hope there won't be too many of them ... I discovered mlp:fim on another forum (bay12games) with a discussion thread about ponies being awesome. Curious, I clicked on the youtube link ... and we all know what happened next ! I watched all the episodes in one go up to "over a barrel" (the next one wasn't out yet). I love that show. I guess that's it for an introduction ... feel free o ask any question you want ! Ancre.
