  1. It's a saucy spider ! :D

If you want to make a different philosophy subject, you can. I personally think that bringing it here will derail the thread. I am not sure I really want it to have a subject on its own anyways, because from what I've seen on the internet these kind of philosophy threads tend to get opinionated and passionate very quickly (and I can be guilty of it too !). But, hey, this is a pony forum, and I have been pleasantly surprised many times here before !

  2. Oh gee, I like desserts so much, I actually have a degree in pastry making ... This is going to be hard to choose ! I'll say vacherin (what an ugly name) which is basically meringue and ice cream, because it's usually what I get on my birthday.

  3. Also, Equestria Daily just popped out a massive research result on bronies.

    http://www.equestriadaily.com/2012/05/know-your-meme-survey-results.html#more

It have some interesting infos in it, notable that bronies are massively 16-20 years old males, not interested in sexualising ponies, not linked to the furry fandom, and not really interested in pony-related pornographic content (the "rule 34" pie chart*). Basically, we're all internet kids. There's a lot of other interesting information (regarding religion, race, and other stuff) in it, I just listed what concerned your parents most, in case nobody's interested in reading a 33 pages survey. (There's a lot of useless information for people who aren't bronies too, such as "who's your favorite pony ?")

Apparently the survey have been done by a social studies student and another internet user, and they list a bunch of research works in their reference page at the end.

In the end it's only another document on the internet. But I hope it will help you show who the bronies really are, and that it will help you dispel some of the misconceptions carried by the media as well.

*Rule 34 is internet slang, or an euphemism, I don't really know what word really applies here. It means that whatever you can think of, you will find pornography of it on the internet.

  4. I'd like to be a zebra. Zebras have a special meaning to me.

Otherwise I don't know what I'll be, as I don't really know what traits and qualities decide which type of pony you'll be. If I'm a pony, I guess I'll be a unicorn, because apparently brainy ponies are unicorns :D But yeah, zebra !

  5. Brr, spiders. I never liked them much, but I usually left them alone. I rarely chase them out of the house too, they can stay as long as they don't bother me too much, in which case, it's the window for you. Which might explain the amount of bug bites I sometimes get.

Are there species of spiders that will actually bite you in your sleep ?

Also, I have once found an awesome spider, who built massive spiderweb "nests" or "holes", that looked a bit like a carpet of spiderweb with a little hole inside it, where the spider was. It was impressive, huge, and all around much more cooler than the flimsy spider webs the other spiders did :D

Regarding the "civilizations comparison" subject, I don't really think we can talk about which one is better and all. We're just too different. We barely even share common goals and interests, beside perhaps basic survival and expansion at a specie-level (in which we're both very good). How would one be better than another ? I'm really curious to know what you think when you say that, Stonetribe.

  6. What is your Steam name? Bearflagrepublic

    Ancre was already taken :(

What game do you play the most via Steam? It seems to be Fallout. I tend to play a lot of one game, then stop, then play a lot of another game, repeat.

What is your favorite game? On the ones I have on steam ? I'd say civilisation. Otherwise, it's a toss-up between Colonization and Crono Trigger. I'm edging toward the latter because I don't have to think when I play this game.

Do you have a group? I'm in a bunch of groups, but I don't do anything in them.

Do you play on Mac or Windows? Windows. Mac is not for me.

  7. Statistically, I will probably die. I mean, zombie invasions always wipe out a huge chunk of the planet's population, and yet everyone think they will survive it or something. Nuh-uh. We're all going to die.

But on the unlikely chance that I win the lottery survive the intial infection, I'll probably grab my car, find a good place for shelter (second floors are good) avoid gigantic places like walmart and raid houses for food. Or something.

I don't worry much about zombie invasions. Perhaps I should !

  8. Heh, when was it out in the cinema for you ? It was out a long time ago here, in january 2011 according to wikipedia.

It was a nice movie. Was it really made by Miyazaki ? From what I remember, it's a production from the Ghibli studios, which means Miyazaki was involved in it somewhere, but it wasn't necessarily his film.

Overall I liked it. It was pretty ! It cheered me up, like almost every Ghibli film does. The scenario was unusual, it was a "slice of life" rather than a "problem resolution" one ; that was a bit unsettling and interesting to watch.

  9. I HAVE NO CELLPHONE !

    I'm a rebel ! xD

I never had one, save for one year, when I was living in LA and it was the only phone I had. Right now, I have a landline, and that's enough for me.

I'll try to get one when I move away from here though. It will come in handy. It's a bit scary, though, cellphones are full of strange and unnecessary options, add-ons, it always look like it's only one update short of making the coffee. Cellphone subscriptions are very arcane for me too, and I have strange needs (most of the calls I ever do are out-of-country ones). And all of this is probably very plebeian to you all. Frankly, I am sympathetic to those old persons who can't understand internet every time I look at a cellphone.

The cellphone I want is one similar to the old thing my dad had. It was prehistoric, its most over-the-top feature was a laggy snake game, had no color, huge pixelisation thingie, couldn't do anything else than phone, and was indestructible. A friend of mine had the same model. She accidentally threw it out of the window from the tenth floor, and it still worked once the parts were put back together. She accidentally dropped it in the toilets, and had to wait it to dry, but it still worked fine after that. I want that phone.

  10. I'd spend it with Twilight. With her teleportation spell, we could have a (admittedly too short) tour of Equestria, or at least of a few interesting places, and as a tourist guide I am fairly certain she would happily ramble about the history of this and that, the great celebrities that lived x hundred years ago that no ones knows about, or the different architecture styles of the region we're visiting, or any other nerdy subject like this. I'd love every second of it. One day is much too short really !

  11. Hello, it's your friendly neighborhood spambot here ! :D

More seriously, someone else on another forum posted an awesome link. It's a website that gathers every intelligent course that universities put online (like youtube videos of university classes, for example). I'm sure I'm not the only one here who considers that learning swahili or watching history lectures on the net is a fun pastime, so I figured I'd give the link.
