Abbot, pulled his cart through the streets of Fillydelphia, a rhythmic clinking of glass bottles and other assorted devices emanating from it with each few steps. He had been to Fillydelphia once for a very short while; this time would be a bit longer hopefully. He brought his cart up to a large building and unhitched himself. A pony came out and after receiving his bits brought the cart to a holding place. Abbot had still kept the more important items in his saddlebag; which was still quite over-packed.

“Hmm… maybe I should prioritize what’s actually necessary to bring later.” He shrugged the issue off and began heading to somewhere he could sit and relax for a bit. After a while he made his way to what appeared to be a pub. He read the title to himself as he examined the sign, ‘The Prancing Pony, looks to be a good place.’ He walked up the steps and pushed the door open. As he entered the pub a bell on the door rang, a sweet scent of cider and ale filled his nose. He could see a few ponies playing some form of darts and a bit further back he saw the actual bar. He gave himself a moment to take in all these things as he had never stepped hoof in a bar or pub of any kind before. While fairly quiet he still felt a bit out of place and wondering what he was supposed to do from here.

2. About branches. This idea is great to, I don't have a problem with it and fully endorse it if people want it. So what would be some of the branches of the guild? I see and Alchemy Branch floating around and with Templar's Percival there could definitely be a Medical Branch, for offensive magic unicorns their could be a Offensive Branch and also a Defensive Branch for those who practice defensive magicks.

On the branches i had put a bit of though into that a little earlier in my free time.

here's what i came up with:

as of right now there would be eight main branches.

1. elemental/destruction/chaos magic: this would be any magic that focuses on the raw power of the elements most commonly as offensive magic.
2. alteration/augmentation/manipulation magic: this would be magic based around altering the physical properties of something either permanently or temporarily.
3. conjuration/summoning magic: the formation of some physical aparation either as an inanimate object, an extension of ones body [false wings, ect.], or a minion/creature.
4. restoration/healing magic: magic based around replenishing the weak and defensive magics such as shields and barriers.
5. alchemy/herbology: the use of various naturally occur ingredient to create potions and other product that give a desired effect.
6. illusionry/spychic/presdigitation: this branch covers the use of false imagery, and manipulation of ones mind to the extent of reading it or even imposing your will upon them.
7. solar, lunar, and weather based magic: magic that involve the control of or gain their power from the sun/moon/elements.
8. magical history: the study of historical events, famous people, and fundamental concepts relating to magic

I put some branches that didn't entirely limit to having a horn just to keep it balanced.

if we have a leader for each branch along with a guild master who would be responsible for leading and moderating council meetings I think that would be interesting.

As I mentioned earlier I would be more than happy to either offer my character as the guild master or a branch leader.

3. Prime had continued to listen to the crowd, his attention progressively narrowing to the conversation between the pony and the griffon. He knew a lie when he heard one and Razor’s was all too obvious of course he wasn’t about to sell him out, he was lucky that the pink mare hadn’t spotted it immediately. Prime chuckled to himself at the griffon’s embarrassment. ‘Yeah, you’re not cute, you’re adorable.’ He nearly burst out right then at the internal joke.

The griffon looked like he desperately just wanted to fly away at this point. He figured the least he could is offer to help. Waiting to catch the griffon’s eye he lipped out “you. need. Help?” as soon as he was certain the griffon saw him. ‘hopefully he can read lips and will understand me.’

4. I like the council idea, though they'd probably still have a guild master and then leaders for each branch of magic.

on the topic off the guild master; though Abbot is an earth pony, he could probably manage it considering he helped run a school before leaving his uncle.

He'd have a bit of trouble with charisma, especially since he'd be one of a few non-unicorn members.

I could definitely see him as either a traveling member helping those in need or a teacher for the guild.

5. Prime had made his way back to the line and gave up on re-re-running his plans in his head. Instead, he closed his eyes and listened to everypony speaking. He had learned a few interesting things, though mostly useless to him, about some of the ponies in line with.

He also found himself quite amused by the chatter between the griffon and the pink mare… Pinkiepie was it? that were standing… in front of him now along with two other ponies. ‘UUUHHH!!! It’s true what they say; good ponies never end out ahead, and in this case literally.’

“At least I making light of it,” he said out loud. Maybe a little too loud, ‘hopefully no one heard me and I didn’t just make myself look crazy’ he thought to himself still keeping his eyes closed just in case somepony was staring so he could avoid an awkward situation.

6. Not sure if this had already been discussed, but I was wondering how all the members would meet. Is there going to be some sort of event or meeting pertaining to magic that's been advertised in the area, or is it going to be a random meeting, maybe someone sends out invitations to ponies they've heard about from others that might be good options for a guild, a few basic ideas there but i'd like to see what others might have or if this was already discussed what there is.

7. Bridge raised an eyebrow, now he knew that she couldn’t have been serious, but it wouldn’t have been the first time he got ditched by a mare for one of his band-mates. He wasn’t really bothered by it even before he was used to it, though it was a sting to any stallions pride. “Hmmm… ‘fraid you’re early by about a couple decades, hope you don’t mind waiting a bit,” He said jokingly. He grab a bottle off a cart being pushed past them by a pony, “I’m sure we’ll find something to do in the mean time,” he said emphasizing the bottle.

8. The blue earth pony walked up to Penumbra to shake her hoof, “My names Kick-pedal, pleasure to meet ya’, and don’t mind my friend Rift,” he said gesturing to the orange Pegasus, “he makes up for having a small brain with a big mouth.” The Orange Pegasus began nodding as he spoke, “Yeah, that’s ri-, HEY!!!” he shouted suddenly realizing the insult, “…AHH WHATEVER!!! So yeah that’s my name base’s my game.” he stated with a large smile the blue pony only responding by rolling his eyes, “yyyeahh… and the red guy behind me’s Screech.” The unicorn nodded to Penumbra. “so now that you know us, you two go on to the green room and we’ll see ya there later. We’ve got something to go do real quick.”

“We do?”

“Yeah, we do. Remember?”

“…OHHH!!! Ok” and with that the three left waving goodbye.

“That was… odd.”

9. Bridge new this wasn’t going to end well, it never did. Any time he was around a mare, which was again something of a rarity, and his band members saw him they always managed to make a fool of him, scare the mare off, or embarrass him to the point where he couldn’t even speak with anyone. The fact that they always assumed that he was interested in them didn’t help either, with all eyes of the band on the two he stayed unnaturally still his brain trying to process what was going on and how to save himself from this.

The orange Pegasus snickered as he spoke, “He-heh, that’s funny usually the stallions the one watching the mare’s fla-” the blue pony shoved his hoof over the Pegasus’ mouth to silence him.

“It’s nice to meet Bridge’s… uh, security detail.”

The red unicorn looked at Bridge with a half-smirk, “…Nice.”

“A-alright, I guess we should go hang since we got a while till practice, good seeing you guys.” He tried to rush the conversation along to try and get away from the disaster waiting to happen.

10. Bridge was considering whether it was best to just run out of the backstage area now or wait to see if things don’t go as bad as he expects them. With Penumbra here he didn’t want to just run so he simply face-hoofed as he tried to answer her question. “No… it’s gonna get much worse.” As he said those words the rest of the band turned around the corner.

“Are sure it was Bridge?” said a red unicorn.

“Yeah, I mean he’s not really known for being good with mares. Maybe you just thought she was with him?” said a slight bulkier pony with a blue coat.

“NO, I’M SURE SHE WAS WITH HIM. SEE I’LL SHOW YOU!!!” the orange Pegasus stated pointing his hoof to Bridge and Penumbra.

“Uuuhhh… hey guys.” The band members all stood staring at Bridge with a surprised expression.

“Well, now I’ve seen everything.”

“TOLD YA! TOLD YA!”

“…Wow…”

Likes: being around nature, helping heal the sick, practicing alchemy. He likes social events as long as he can stay out of crowds, he enjoys meeting new ponies and sharing experiences. He enjoys exercise, mostly consisting of running.

Dislikes: he has anxiety in large crowds, this is why he prefers to be more personal with friends. Whenever he reads a book he feels compelled to finish it; for some reason he feels uncomfortable with stopping in the middle of a book, he doesn’t like the idea of leaving a story half finished. He has an extreme dislike for Basil.

Character Summary:

History – He spent most of his childhood with his uncle at what would be considered the equivalent of a seminary school. Though he was considered the closest thing to a parent they weren’t the very close. His uncle was usually busy so he spent most of his time in the small library at the school. He stayed away from most of the other children due to his anxiety. There was a group of fillies that always tried to get him to spend time with them but after the first few times he did his uncle had a talk with him. He stopped spending much time with them except for a few occasions in class. Due to this he still is socially awkward around mares and avoids any type of romantic situation to avoid, what he believes would be absolute embarrassment.

After getting his cutiemark he devoted the majority of his time to studying alchemy and helping his uncle run the school. He is self taught due to having no source of educator in his desired field but has still managed to excel in his studies. He left Itaily a few years after becoming old enough to live on his own and started a traveling apothecary. He left on a train after saying goodbye to his uncle and headed to Equestria to search for opportunity. He has been successfully living on his own ever since.

Personality – He is at most times very reserved and will avoid large social situations. Regardless of this he keeps a very cheery disposition throughout his daily routines. When at work, making some potion for a customer or experimenting with volatile ingredients, he is very eccentric. Most hazards don’t even faze him in the “lab” and he tends to go off on wild tangent of conversation even if no one’s with him. He is a generally passive person avoiding arguments or other conflicts whenever possible and usually focuses on satisfying other before himself.

Parents – He only spent a few years that he has no substantial memory of with his parents before living with his uncle. Though he has never met them in person he was told a little bit about his parents by his uncle.

Cutie Mark Story – When Abbot was a young child he study regularly. In most cases, it was simply because he had nothing else to do. His uncle was too busy, he couldn’t sleep, and he definitely didn’t want to be around all those other fillies and colts. So he just sat in silence with a stack of books on any subject he found interesting, which was usually limited since the only books to choose from were various textbooks or dusty old tomes written in Itailin; a language he knew fluently if it wasn’t for the fact that it was the type of writing used at least a hundred years ago. So with that in mind, his free time was usually a boring drudgery of stale textbooks that he had probably read five times each. After a few hours of his eyes shifting between the complex phrases in his book and a view of foals playing outside he finally left the library with a sigh and tried to see his uncle. Making his way up the flight of stairs he eventually found his way to his uncle’s office. As usual he was nowhere to be found, his office was neatly organized so that everything was always in place. This made the small stack of books on his desk easily noticeable. Examining it closer, he found a note on it. ‘To my assistant: please make sure this finds its way to the library, the trash, or anywhere that it will find use.’ Abbot stared at the books for a long time. Well he did say anywhere it would be of use, and it would be helpful to his assistant. He grabbed the books and put them in his saddlebag, making his way to his room. After closing his door he set the books on his small desk and opened to the first page. He read the title on the inside, ‘Guide to herbal plants’, he had never seen a book like this; it consisted of many illustrations of plants and incredible facts about them. He found himself intrigued with the books, not even bothering to sleep that night as he read them happily. He found so many ways that he could use plants and even a guide to build a small brewing set for beginners. He spent most of his times in the gardens looking for plants that he saw in his book to take back to his room where he would make all sorts of concoctions. After noticing one of his class mates was sick he searched in his book for something to help the sick foal. After half a day of searching and brewing he eventually made the medicine he needed, within a few days the foal felt was healthy again. After that day he knew what he wanted to do he wanted to study herbology and help people wherever he went; this was proven thanks to his cutiemark.

Dangers on the Road – Traveling alone can be dangerous, especially when the roads lead through uninhabited lands or dense forests. Though never one to seek violence as a solution; Abbot is prepared in the event that he is forced to fight. He has several items of his own design that he can use to defend himself. They’re pre-prepared vials that contain certain alchemical ingredients that when mixed, most commonly by breaking the vial, give a certain effect.
