Okay wellll I can't wear different clothes because I have school today haha.

I didn't make cupcakes cause I didn't have enough time. But I would have put a DASH of something special in them /shot'd

I managed to get some of those pocket ponies though. I don't have any cardboard which is a pain. But at least its something!

OKAY so tomorrow is the last day of Winter here in the Southern Hemisphere.

I see no reason why you would be disqualified, it is really an easy contest, just take any two from the show and mix. In your case it is Luna and one of the guards you see. You just added a lot of story to it, but that doesn't take away from the submission.

wow, this was a lot of fun to read- you sure put a lot of effort into it and I like it! Kudos points to you.

Of course your story will not disqualify you xD I think it would make for a good fan-fic; you should toss around some ideas in the writing forum; creativity is a wonderful gift, and should be shared!

Seriously though, this is a cool character. But as I've said many times on this board, I just plain don't like grimdark, and Celestia throwing her sister in a dungeon and killing her lover is a bit too much for me.

Pelt Color: A faded shade of lavender, almost blue

Mane/Tail/Markings Color & Style: He has his father's colours, streak and stubby cropped tail, with a shorter version of his aunt's long flowing mane.

Eye Color: Amber, like his Father

Cutie Mark: The crest on the front of the royal chariot; he lives to serve his people. It appeared when he was first assigned to pull the chariot itself, on land of course.

Motivation: To free Equestria from the rule of it's current leader, who has wronged her mother for far too long. Justice.

Likes: Few know what the Prince likes, for he usually doesn't have time to do what he himself wants. From his early childhood, however, he can remember enjoying sports of all kinds, cooking and dancing.

Dislikes: Aside from the obvious (coughcoughCelestia), Midnight has a fear of large bodies of water- the ocean, for examples. Puddles and creeks won't bother him a bit. He's a fussy eater, having been raised around royalty, and hates bad cooking.

Character Summary: Midnight's personality went through a drastic change when he met his mother. As a youngster he was as serious as ever, but much more light-hearted and willing to behave his age. The revelation changed him; he became colder, much more focused on necessities and his goals, with little thought to spare for anything else. His life revolves around what he believes he must do, and his family; there is no room for anything else, like romance or hobbies or a job. He doesn't care for popularity, or media. And while he's gentle and can be encouraged to be socialable, he isn't a very inviting personality.

If he did become king, perhaps these lead to reasons why he wouldn't be a popular one. If he became the figurehead of the revolution he wants to lead, he would suit it extremely well, but not as the figurehead of a nation. He's not exacly a gentle person who changes his mind or listens to reason. At heart, he is driven by anger and fury; perhaps he has more in common with his aunt than just his flowing mane?

History:

This....is quite long, obviously.

If you want to skip it and are just casually reading, here's the TL;DR version:

• [*:brlkulw4]After Nightmare Moon is defeated, Luna returns to the castle, supposedly meant to become the second leader alongside Celestia. Of course this doesn't happen; because she is the only one who is a threat, Luna is forbidden to leave the castle at all times, limiting any supposed threats she can make.
  [*:brlkulw4] Luna begins to suspect her sister but plays dumb, wondering why her sister has guards set on her all times during the day and night.
  [*:brlkulw4] Falls in love with one of the unicorn guards, Boltcleft. Celestia discovers the pregnancy and is outraged, seeing as this child could be the one to overthrow her rule of many, many years on going, the one to tip the nonexistant power-struggle between Celestia and her sister.
  [*:brlkulw4] Luna is forbidden to move from her room, but is spotted by the media on her balcony one morning. Citizens of Equestria are outraged at her current state and the fact that she's been kept hidden. Boltcleft's death is ordered by Celestia.
  [*:brlkulw4] The child is born and his father's brother, Ironhoof (who is also a guard), comes to Luna's rescue, organising a getaway so that her son will be raised as a guard and kept hidden from the princess
  [*:brlkulw4] An outraged Celestia storms in sometime later, demanding to see the child, but Luna refuses to answer as her sister fumes in her face. She gets tired and orders Luna to be kept in the dungeons, where she spends all of Midnight's childhood.
  [*:brlkulw4] Midnight grows up with Ironhoof as his adopted father, rising in the ranks of the Royal Guards, and gains his cutie mark when he pulls the royal chariot around the gardens, as an attempt by councellors to calm their stressed ruler
  [*:brlkulw4] Tells Ironhoof that he has his cutie mark, who takes it as a sign and organises the nightly rounds so that Midnight will see his mother for the first time. Luna explains to her son the whole story, and her escape is organised with some other guards
  [*:brlkulw4] Midnight and his mother travel at night to Twilight Sparkle's house as a rendezvour point, as she remembers Twilight as someone who saved her from Nightmare Moon
  [*:brlkulw4] Luna recovers at Fluttershy's house while Midnight is tutored in magic for the first time by Twilight Sparkle. They both discover the reason why Celestia acted the way she had; Midnight was blessed with half the magic of a unisus, which is more than an average unicorn, making him powerful enough to tip the power scales should he choose to
  [*:brlkulw4] Prepares to start a revolution and rebellion against the tyrant ruler and faces his true destiny

Before I tell of his history, you have to go back to the time when Nightmare Moon was vanquished and Luna returned to her sister. To everyone outside of the castle, it appeared to be a happy ending, and the two sisters would eventually rule together. However, as time went on, it was clear that Celestia had no intentions of ever sharing her throne again. Behind tightly-sealed doors, the younger princess was forbidden to leave the castle grounds ever again. Celestia only saw her as a threat to her position- only certain types of magic would be able to subdue her, and royal blood contained one of them.

Luna doesn't realise what is happening until it is to late to protest; she excuses her sister for a long time, figuring it must be some sort of sisterly act. She continues to play dumb and eventually just accepts her fate; afterall, a life in the castle is a prestigeous one. Time flies by, the people of Equestria are beginning to grow suspicious, and tensions flare when a reporter appears at one of the ruler's visits outside, only to be dragged away by guards after inquiring about the missing sister.

Not only are the people getting curious, Celestia herself notices that Luna's appearences around her a fleeting. She comes for meals in the main dining hall, and spends the rest of the day out of her sight, but guards still bring back reports of her presence in the castle, so her escape is impossible. What Celestia doesn't know, however, is that one of these guards is the reason she is gone for most of the day.

Unlike the other unicorn guards that are assigned to Luna throughout the day and night, very few are willing to speak to her, out of fear of their ruler. One of them- named Boltcleft - became good friends with her, and over the long dreary time she spent as a prisoner in her own home, they become something more.

Of course, when signs of pregnancy begin to appear, Celestia is outraged. She calls for the death or incapacitation of the guard who caused it, and Luna is restricted to her room and balcony. Late into her pregnancy, the media gets a clear camera shot of Luna on her balcony, and the outside world is immediately aware that something has been going on. With proof that their princess has been kept away from the outside world for at least the length of her pregnancy, as no one was aware of it, eyes begin turning to Celestia, and angry mobs begin showing up demanding the freedom of their princess.

Around this time, the foal arrives; and so we have Prince Midnight, known without any title during his childhood. Luna spends as much time as she can with her new son, something happy in her life after the almost definite death of her lover. She fears for his life, for Celestia has guards posted outside the doors to alert her when the child arrives. However, luck is on her side for once; the guards cannot harm a baby, and one of them reveals himself as Boltcleft's brother, Ironhoof. He offers to give the child a future, to train with the other colts to become a guard like his Father.

Of course, his identity would be protected, and he'd have to wear his armour at all times....but it is better than death, so Luna accepts the offer. Celestia storms in sometime after, the other guards having given Ironhoof some time to get away before sending out the alert. She reveals herself with no facade this time; in pure, unstable rage, she demands the baby be given to her, but Luna refuses to tell her anything. She continues to yell and spit in her face, but Luna resists, eventually being dragged into an underground prison where she spends the rest of Midnight's history.

Her son continues to grow while his uncle keeps a close watch on him, devoting himself to being a father figure. His mane is clipped regularly to hide the long, flowing mane inherited from the aunt who wants to kill him, and he is bestowed with armour at all times, even around friends, to hide his identity. Not only do his colours make it plain obvious who his mother is, but the spots around his hide where his cutie mark will appear in future years are a clear givaway.

The boy continues to grow, spending his time playing with the few friends he has, or training to get to the highest standard a guard can reach- carriage puller. Of course, he couldn't inherit his mother's twin wings and horn together, so he was aiming for a carriage on the ground. Before long, he was chosen for the next ride; the Ruler hadn't been outside in a long time, too busy keeping an eye on her sister, wrought with fear that she would be turned out of her rightful place at any moment. Her assistants demanded a soothing ride through the garden to help, like a kind of therapy.

So Midnight pulled the Princess' chariot, and got his cutie mark; the crest at the front of the carriage. He was all too proud, and in his glee ran back home to Ironhoof. To his uncle, this meant something more; the boy had come of age. So that night, after checking that his aunt was asleep, they took over guard duty in the lower levels together, and the truth was revealed to him as he met his mother, who was by now sickly and unwell; she'd been treated well enough and fed exquisitely, but nothing would heal her heart after her sister's betrayal of trust.

Midnight swore to make things right again; he was going to reveal what Celestia had done, let the people take charge for a change. With a few of his friends, the arranged the night duties for the next few days; some so that he could talk and arrange an escape with his mother, and the rest for the actual escape. They let Luna out, who could barely walk, but with the support of her son they struggled away and snuck through the rear-exit of the Castle, where he left his childhood friends and his uncle behind. For the first time in his life he was away from the castle; he removed parts of his armour, like the chest piece, so that only his shoes and back pieces remained.

They snuck away into the night; it was dark enough so that no one picked up on just who this oddly-dressed stranger and his companion were. They stayed in an alleyway, in a run-down area of Canterlot, where his mother found her feet again and was able to move on her own; she was recovering faster with the time she spent with her son. She recalled a place; perhaps it was an obvious one, and Celestia would begin searching there, but by the time they'd travelled that far, she'd be gone.

And so the two bedraggled royals arrived on Twilight Sparkle's doorstep. By this time, Midnight was in his prime; a fully grown stallion.

The story was explained quickly; no one else knew but the purple unicorn her mother had recalled, the one who had helped vanquish Nightmare Moon. She told them that the royal guards had done a sweep of Ponyville some days earlier and were long gone now, so it was a safe haven. Luna was moved to another house, belonging to someone with better healing skills; Fluttershy. Midnight spent his time at Twilight's house, now being tutored by the unicorn after admitting that he'd never done magic before; it had been forbidden inside the castle after Luna's incident.

Time passed, and again the two were both stuck like Midnight had been the main part of his life; Luna couldn't move from her current house, or she'd be spotted immediately. Midnight could visit her at later hours when he'd be hard to depict. Twilight's close friends were soon let in on the secret; it wasn't like no one visited her. But they were trustworthy and kept his presence a tight secret. Luna recovered and was moved back to the treehouse with stict planning, but atleast it was a new environment.

Midnight's training advanced and soon the reason why Luna had been locked up was revealed. The magic of a unisis was more powerful than a typical unicorn's, so Luna and Celestia were evenly matched in a sort of checkmate. The Elements of Harmony had been enough to bring Luna back to her natural state, but they hadn't gone as far as to actually kill her; that ability was only available to one of equal power; someone from the royal family. Even if they were evenly matched, Celestia saw her sister as her only threat, one that could be easily annihalated; so when she was kept inside castle grounds, everything was fine.

Of course the birth of a child could be the only thing to disrupt the balance.

But Midnight wasn't cold enough to be able to out-right kill someone; even if he was the only one able to ever really harm Celestia in a true way, he didn't want to go that far. He wanted to right all the wrongs she had done, maybe put his mother on the throne, but he didn't want any power himself. But he figured out what his future held for him; he was going to start a revolution.

It was time to right the wrongs of his world.

I loved this episode xD I loved the whole....Wild West sort of thing, and the 'Native Americans'. Did anyone catch the name of Applejack's cousin, or the chief buffalo? I'd love to play either of them.
