  1. I think there is enough gold and gems in Equestria, that if trade ever became fully opened between our worlds that the earth side would face sudden and massive inflation. The Equestria side would face sudden and massive deflation. Our primary import would be gold, and it would go very badly for both sides.

Any comparison of our two currencies must encompass a wide range of purchases. Comparing nothing but apple related products allows many things to cause errors in your system. What are average wages in both worlds? What are transportation, shelter, luxury costs in both worlds?

.... Wow! Lots of thought went into that one. lol /)*(\ Brohoof
  2. I was going to post this in the Season 3 info thread, but the stuff here concerns ideas that never came to be and background stuff.

Bare in mind that this is a security guard's retelling from unrecorded events, so this stuff isn't necessarily 100% true.

    Info

-Canterlot was to be "Gondor" (Lord of the Rings) for little girls.

-Celestia and Luna's parents exist in Lauren's mind.

-Twilight is inspired by her mother(Lauren's).

    -Fluttershy is inspired Lauren's childhood.

    -RD is Firefly.

-Pinkie Pie was not intended to be a "comedy" character, but rather a "free-spirited" character.

-Scootaloo was going to get several episodes, including one where it would shed light on her being handicapped. It's quite sad.

She never intented for Scoots to fly: some of her episodes would have been about finding out her other strengths.

-Derpy Hooves is not Ditzy Doo.

-An episode she wanted involved deers, a pony raised by them, Whitetail Woods and AJ and RD arguing over whether to tell him the truth or not, *cough*fanficswillcoverthis*cough*

There's a little more in the video, something about Changelings I think.

How fascinating! I wonder what is true, and what is speculation?

  3. What I don't understand about Rarity is why she never moved to Canterlot in the first place. She makes designs that cater mostly to their tastes, she wants to be part of their social circles; why then does she bother staying in the provincial town of Ponyville?

Probably the same reason why we don't up and move from one place to another on a whim. Many factors contribute in this: Family, Work, Friends, Community, Economy, etc.
  4. When I first saw her in the show, I thought: Bipolar. Though I soon learned that, that was not the case.

The thing about Rarity, is that she endeavours not only to keep her shop open and producting high-quality clothing: Artistic/Work-a-holic/Tenacious

She makes time for her friends and enjoys the joy that her hard work brings them: Friendly/Generous/Courteous

.... among many other things. Its just that she is a very complex character, and though it is hard to incorporate a character like that in Fan-Fiction, it leaves a spectacular challenge to study this character, and many fans who enjoy both her antics and flavorful attitude will have a rewarding time trying to add her to their own story in Equestria.

  5. ^ Your dreams, my nightmares.

Have we ever seen 'mature' themes from this show?

Well, there are small tid-bits in the show that when an older audience watches it, they would get the reference, and laugh while the kids are like... "huh? I don't get it."

Same thing in lots of other kids shows. Which is probably one of the reasons why this show appeals to just as many older generation fans as kid fans.

  6. What does the interwebs say? Hello? Interwebs! Talk to me!

    (From Answers.com)

    Pegacorn: Unicorns with wings

    - In Cantabria, northern Spain, there is a myth of a flying Unicorn with wings on its hooves, El Alicornio, which is where the whole Alicorn thing stems from. Alicornio may as well translate as Alicorn, so I would say alicorn as a winged unicorn was in fact correct

A winged horse is a pegasus, a horned horse is a unicorn, and a unicus is a winged and horned horse so the answer is unicus.

It is usually refered to as a Pegacorn (in the odd event it comes up in topic) but unicus may be accepted as a term for them.

An alicorn (from the Latin ala [wing]+cornu [horn])

I like that explanation. More accurate. Most of the bronies who are "Alicorns" accept that descriptive label. Though I do like the "Royal Pony" Idea.

  7. Brony?

    Brony?

    BRONY!????

    SHUUUUUUUN!

That overdone joke aside, welcome to Canterlot! I have a little bit of skill in archery as well (I can hit apples from 15ft away, 30 if I'm lucky), and love to write too. We hope you enjoy your stay!

Archery is fun ^_^ That reminds me of a story I read somewhere.... archery with apples.....
