Wow, well, I could easily usurp the thread with comments about this bit alone (and if you wish to have a rousing discussion via PM, then let's do it), but I will note that transsexuality has nothing to do with homosexuality, especially given how many are hetero. In any case, yeah, if you get the chance to watch it, maybe you'll see a different perspective. We can talk more afterwards.

I suspect for many people there are going to be one or two tough choices in each division. There's just a lot of quality there competing. And keep in mind you can always come back and change your vote if something occurs to you later on. Not that I object to "Suited for Success'" success.

Different strokes, I guess. Evangelion has many flaws, but the character development is very good. The battle pacing is excellent as well, IMO, even if there's little animation. I can't blame anyone for disliking it, but this show's strengths more than make up for its weaknesses, IMO. I don't consider myself an otaku by any stretch. I'd say I'm more likely to dislike an anime than to like it, but when it's done right, anime is so special.

My favorite is surely Party of One, with Suited for Success probably my third favorite, give or take a place. Suited, it seems, made a lot of people fans of Rarity. Party of One is one of my favorite television moments of all time, actually. It's effing brilliant, and gave Pinkie a much welcome depth without violating her inscrutability. It's got great gags, too. Funny and serious at the same time. I'd comment on the pacing, but even the worst episodes (relatively speaking) tend to have good pacing. It's a major fundamental that they hardly even know how to fail.

Whoah. This is intense. A 2-3-4 way tie for the qualifier might just happen after all. If it does, a runoff vote will be posted for 2 days. It will run concurrent to the Poll 2 vote, in a separate thread. If the runoff ties, all tied episodes will proceed to semis.

Perhaps, but I figure I'd try a last minute lobby nonetheless. You see, I feel like Pinkie Keen's plotting and pacing are excellent as well, but that's a longer pitch than going for the memes.

I consider #2 a great standing as well. Consider how often the word "Canterlot" is mentioned around the net, and this place shows up right there among the top in the front page. #1 would be nice for posterity's sake, and it might generate a few more hits, but I can't imagine much more. It's the only forum on the page, and most people at least bother to read the summary text of the first 3 Google entries. In other words, #2 link, #1 forum is a POSITIVE. I never had an apple-flavored popsicle before. What? These things are GOOD.

I notice when opening multiple Canterlot tabs in my browser that they all just say "Canterlot - My Little pony, Friendship is Magic." The tab icon seems enough to remind people what site the tab is. Could we make the thread subject show? That way, you can look down and easily find the tab you're looking for.

Yes! more love for Pinkie Keen! It's my fave episode of this bunch, and I'll be mighty emo if it fails the first round . I must admit I'm surprised that Swarm is doing so well. I didn't realize it was as loved as this.

It occurs to me that ties are possible. Best way to handle them? Option 1 would be to start another poll with JUST the episodes that tied. Option 2 would be to advance all ties to the next round. Option 3, which Im pretty well set against, would be a coin flip, or some other random determination. Are there other things I'm not thinking of?

Oh, and FWIW, I voted for Bridle Gossip, Pinkie Keen, and the Stare Master. Everypony loves Bridle Gossip. It's a shoo-in for the semis, and it has a good shot at the finals, but I'd be surprised if it won. I'm surprised Pinkie Keen isn't off to a stronger start, but I suppose a lot of people were put off by the moral of the story. Still, "Can you do that? Can you explode twice?" is probably my favorite exchange in the whole series. I'm a huge CMC fan, so I favor the Stare Master. Fluttershy is fantastic in that one as well! But I know a few peeps find the CMC annoying, so I don't have high hopes of this one making it to semis.

It'd be a fairly lengthy process, I'd imagine. Either 26 polls would have to be conducted, or fewer polls would be conducted that allowed people to rate multiple episodes 1-10, but they'd have to write it into their posts (which would be a nightmare to tally). Another way to set up a really accurate poll would be to do a pairwise comparison for each and every episode combination, but it would take 314 polls This way isn't as scientific, but it's faster, and IMO, a lot of fun!

Thanks! Unfortunately, first round voting has already begun, and it doesn't seem I can change the voting period. So first round will have to proceed with 5 days. The semis and the final, OTOH, I can extend to like a week. I'm trying not to let this whole process take TOO long, lest people become bored with it. As for simultaneous polling, I wanted to give each poll an opportunity to get on the front page, as well as allow time for potential discussions/negotiations (as votes can be changed) within each poll. Sorting was somewhat arbitrary and manual, but I kept two things in mind. First, I tried to keep separate the most popular episodes (according to polls I've seen on Equestria Daily and the like, and my sense of the consensus, which I hope isn't too off kilter). Second, I tried not to double up episodes that starred the same character. As more than four episodes star ALL the mane cast, that one doubles up in a few divisions. This was actually the most complicated step in creating this poll (besides making the bracket art itself). I'm seeing a few people already lament that they're going to have to cut out their faves. I just hope EVERYpony's faves aren't all in the SAME division. If Manehattan turns out to be the one every likes the best, that'd be most unfortunate. If there's enough of an uproar, we can add a consolation bracket, and put all the episodes that JUST missed qualification from each poll (so 6 total) into a loser's bracket, and the winner of that bracket could be a fifth option in the finals.
