  1. Ohmygosh, I just noticed something.

Applejack was the ONLY pony out of the mane six to show up this episode. :smug:

Imagine, if you will, an episode without ANY of the mane six. Because we're getting close to such an episode.

No letter to Celestia, only one pony of the main cast, the cutie mark crusaders in and it's my favorite episode of the season. Err, confusing... or perhaps the breath of fresh air is just welcome. For once we don't have the same old antics I don't complain.

It was great material for fanfiction, I'll certainly find something to use there.

  2. I'll admit - this episode did exactly what I was scared it would do. I'm very, very tired of Rainbow Dash always being the butt of the joke, shown wrong every time she tries to do something.

Is it any wonder she has such a low self-esteem and clings to her speed so very much? It's the only thing she has. Of course she's 'loyalty', she only sees value in her friends - not in herself. She'd never let them down for her own sake, when she's so worthless. Yay, she's fast. That lets her have big-damn-hero moments for getting people out of the way of danger...

But every time she tries to establish her personality in any way, to make a choice other than 'be fast - get someone out of the way' she gets shot down. "Hey, big giant monster is threatening my friends! I'll kick it in the face! ... oh, no, wait, nevermind, I forgot my friend has magic mind-raping guilt powers. OK, well, hey, I'll just have some fun, be a prankster! Oh, no, wait... my old prankster buddy's being kinda... *****y. Hrm. Now I have to choose between two of my friends, boy I feel like crap. Hey, time to rescue everyone by taking out this swarm of horrible bugs! Oh, no, wait - my friend who didn't bother to explain anything to anyone comes in and ruins my rescue, and she gets the spotlight instead, because she enjoys being all mysterious and random. Man, I can't do anything right, apparently."

Every time she tries to do something, she gets shot down. The world is too 'nice' and tries to find 'nice' ways of defeating enemies - even if those ways of defeating enemies are actually a bit worse than kicking them in the face. In a different world, she'd be able to grow, develop, and be a hero. Here, she just ends up looking like a clown every time she tries, her fragile self-ego taking yet another kick to the face.

And you forgot to mention her TERRIBLE mullet mane :D

I didn't find the episode that bad, at least it was distracting... but two R.D episodes in a row was kinda overkill, still waiting for a Fluttershy one. Can't say she got much screen time so far in season 2.

Anyway not so great they made the mysterious mane's identity obvious so early.

    Fast and strong: check

    Super sense: check

Ok we got it, collective effort.

  3. Dear Princess Celestia,

A few days ago I was reminded that its ok for ponies to be fierce rivals who will do anything (within fairness) to win in game but as long as we don't take personally we can be good friends out of it

    Your sometimes loyal subject

    Dear Princess Celestia,

I don't know if its ok for ponies to be fierce rivals who will do anything to win in game but it's sure can be fun. Too bad some can take it personally and can't be good friends out of it.

    Your devoted subject,

    Ashwood

  4. I was thinking hypothetically...

If the same kind of event would happen again next year, it wouldn't be that bad that the worst visit would be 0 candy and/or poison joke. Because at the moment it can be frustrating to return to 0 when characters already at 0 can't lose anything and the last day if you lead the classement there is no obvious benefit for your ranking to participate to the event.

Not that the competition itself is everything but that's still to considerate.

It's a fun event but for people not talking english so well it's kinda time intensive to participate everyday out of the week-end XD

  5. Accompanied by the young Perched Lighthoof, Ashwood comes close of the frightening statue. A couple of ponies seems to have preceded them. The pegasus turn to him.

_"My friend won't be here, he loathes Nightmare Moon. He always tell me how it would have been better she stays in the Moon forever."

Ashwood looks at him with a perplexed expression.

_"Only the future will tell us if her return is a blessing or a curse. For now we can ask these fellow ponies if they saw your friend passing by."

    They approach the monument.

_"Good evening gentlemares, this young fella lost his friend in the forest, did you saw him by chance? Can you describe him Perched Lighthoof?"

_"He is a pegasus, his mane and pelt are dark blue. His cutie mark is a flash of lightning."
