    Alpha Sneak Peek #1

    Have some map/board previews! The board is approximately 63cm along one side and 84cm along the other. The digital version of the map was made by a fellow member of the Outflanks team, Venerable: http://the-venerable.deviantart.com/art/Quest-for-Harmony-Board-396644778

    Having printed this out I’m going to have to consider the scale of the map as the squares are rather small for what I had in mind. Still its good for play testing. Just have to add the place names and colour code the squares. More stuff on later once I have it prepared.

    It begins...

    Well everyone I am pleased to announce that the alpha version of the game has been completed! I am currently in the process of printing things off, making test cards and preparing a draft board so that play testing can begin. I will be having the first play test session this weekend and I hope to have some video footage of the session to upload so you guys can see what happened.

    This is certainly happening faster than I expected. Its hard to believe that I only started development of this game at the end of July, a lot has happened in 5 weeks that’s for sure. Anyway, that’s all for today, what this space for more info over the coming week, I’ll be uploading images of the pieces as they come together. Adios!

    Welcome to the new home topic of Metaphorical Productions. In order to avoid any unwanted attention from Hasbro as we continue our work I decided to make a new topic for the current project and delete the contents of the old topic.

    So lets start this topic off in a proper manner. What exactly is Quest for Harmony? Simply put its a board/card game that focuses on a unique story whilst staying true to the Brony community. You can check out some initial info on our first video production regarding the project (below). Further developments will be posted primarily on our Tumblr page but will also be copied in here for comment.

    Relax, sit down and let me tell you a story...

    The Kingdom of Aria has stood the test of time, weathered every storm and flourished in the endless time of peace. Ponies of all types come and go, watched over and protected by the unseen light of the Crystal Fountain. This magical spring gushed forth raw mana into the sky, invigorating everything around it and promoting happiness and love. The kingdom’s capital city of Scion is built around it, the town forever bathed in the pearly light of the shimmering mana stream.

    And yet this time of prosperity was not meant to last. What brought an end to this? A vast enemy? A coup-d’etat? No…simply curiosity. A great unicorn known as Nebula had studied all his life to unravel the mystery of the Crystal Fountain. What started as curiosity turned quickly to obsession and then to blindness. His experiments ran unchecked and before long an event known only as the Shattering occurred.

    The Fountain faltered, its mana stream fading to nothing before the fountain itself splintered into fragments and was scattered to the four corners of the world. What was left in its place? Hatred, fear, cruelty and malice. Nopony can remember how many fell that first day but the city of Scion was completely engulfed in darkness. What rose from that dark day is a race of beings known only as the Shades. Wisp like entities that can vanish without a trace and float straight through walls. They had the power to impersonate anypony, spreading lies, deceit and hatred amongst the previously peaceful citizens of Aria. As the feelings of mistrust grew ponies themselves fell under the power of the Shades, corrupted from their skin to their very hearts. Civil war quickly broke out and the kingdom was lost.

    Or so it would have had it not been for the actions of one pony. Standing alone against the coming night he pushed the forces of darkness back but at a great cost. As he lay dying those around him saw the source of his power, a tiny crystal shard hanging round his neck, a piece of the Fountain. He explained that the only way to defeat the Shades once and for all was to recover the pieces of the Fountain and take them back to their former home deep with the abyss that was once Scion.

    Few could even stomach the thought but a few brave souls took up the banner and forged a path against the darkness. These few ponies soon became known as Crystal Bearers, ponies of immense purity and will. They scoured the world, searching desperately for the fragments.

    And yet evil was never so quickly banished. The Shades were not simply content to sit back and wait. They feared the Crystal Bearers for the power they held but knew their ultimate goal. Whilst the darkness grew behind the once glorious walls of Scion a few Shades slipped past the watchers. They integrated themselves into the populace, spiders hiding in the dark waiting for the moment to strike.

    The ultimate fate of Aria lies at your hooves. Will you take up the banner of the Crystal Bearers and strive to push back the darkness…or will you fall to that same darkness and be forever lost?

    Ok, some new things for you guys to look at. The rulebook has now been updated to Beta standard. Its not quite complete but a majority of the information is in there and I will update it again once everything is worked out.

    Work on redoing the cards is also now in full swing. It may take me a few weeks, depending on other commitments, but I aim to have a first draft of the beta release ready for early July at the latest. Watch this space!

    I don't think the primary font (italicized, pink with the white outlines) you're using really works for the design of your cards. This is strictly my opinion, though! :)

    No worries, all comments are good imo. Out of curiosity what do think might work better?

    As a veteran TCG player I find this entirely intriguing! After looking at the older cards I very much like the changes you made. Will be watching this thread and your tumblr :)

    Thanks! I'm hoping to have more updates soon, a lot of the reworking for the cards has now been completed so over the next few weeks I hope to have more material to show you.
