  1. I was wondering where I could sell pony art commissions here :)

    Since I've joined the site, I've found new love in drawing ponies in many different styles, and I'm fixing up a Commission shop to make some extra cash as I go through school. Any suggestions on where to go on Canterlot, and how to handle taking commission work? :3

  2. I keep throwing prizes at my screen, but nothing is happening ;_;

    This is just incredibly well done! Gosh, i'm just left speechless; all of them are so adorable! I really hope we get the opportunity to see these in the crossovers if your interested i :heart: n RP-ing; they are just *adorable*.

    Aaaa, I'm so flattered oh my goodness! ;u;

    I would certainly love to RP for sure. Thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou! :heart:

  3. Aww, I think she's adorable. I didn't even expect a foal from this pair, very nice. :lol:

    I agree, its a really cute pairing from the gala x'3 I like the little backstory, and think she's a really adorable foal x'3 The more of these submissions I read- the more I wish we could have a place to RP them all. It would be a mess, but a fun one xD

    @appleshowers:

    Your userpic looks so adorable; and this might sound crazy- but it looks like the art style that shows at the end credits of Tangled, but pony-fied. Its frankly...adorable ;3; Did you draw that yourself?

    I would totally love to join that RP. It would be the best mess ever. :lol:

    As for my userpic...yes, I drew that! :lol: It's my OC Pumpkin Pop, who I want to RP with here on Canterlot, actually. Also... "Like the end credits of Tangled."

    That is like, my favorite movie ever so getting a comparison to that instantly made me smile so much it hurts. I'll even show you the full wip now, which normally only my friends are privy to! :lol:

    http://img189.imageshack.us/img189/631/picture17s.png Links, awaaaay. :lol:

  4. Well, I'd just like to say hello! I'm pretty new here (the Dream Foal contest is what brought me here, at first) and I didn't think I'd be so interested in RPing. After seeing so many different characters though, and reading many different Applications, my interested is peaked!

    Would anyone lend me a hoof in getting started here? I would love to participate in this community, it is a lot better than most, and very inviting. Can't help but feel nervous though. ^^;

    On a personal note, I'd like to say to say this is the first place where I've seen fans actually get along. No gender-bashing or art-bashing, it's great!

  5. OK, this is definitely one of my favourites- your art is absolutely gorgeous and the entry is so well-written. The extra bits and pieces you've added (like her cute scribbles) are so cute and ohmigoodness... PUMPKIN POP. This foal needs to be canon. FOREVER.

    Jglidfjkgdj :heart: I am so glad you like this, seriously! Thank you so much! :D

    And yes, Pumpkin Pop must be canon...if only there was more time in the contest to create an entry for him. :blush:

    Name: Apple Splash

    Parents: Big Macintosh and Fluttershy

    Sex: Filly

    Age: Young Mare

    Species: A Pegasus Pony with Earth Pony blood.

    Pelt Color: A similar red to her father's coat, only with a softer tone brought out by her mother's side of the gene pool, making it almost rust colored.

    Mane/Tail/Markings Color & Style:

    Mane: Unkempt, flyaway, and choppy. In her youth, she kept it long and flowing like momma Fluttershy. As she got older, however, she sacrificed aesthetics for practicality, and had most of her pink locks sheared off. It conveniently covers up an old flight injury.

    Tail: She always keeps her tail tied off near the end like her auntie Applejack, so it doesn't get snagged in tree branches so easily. The band she uses around her tail was made with soft jade-dyed cloth, a present from her mother.

    Markings: Splash has no particular markings in her hair or pelt, save for her sunny freckles.

    Style: Overall, her style is simply carefree: she sees no real need to primp and preen herself.

    Eye Color: Her eyes are jade-green.

    Cutie Mark: A fat green apple with a ring of rain droplets that is slightly off-centered.

    Motivation: Apple Splash has always loved nature, and the many powerful, beautiful, and sometimes even dangerous things that it can do. Even as a young foal, she would admire a stormy sky, rather than cringe and hide from it. After she learned to fly, she always brought home spare rain-fattened clouds from the Weather Factory, which always confused her parents...until one day, they saw her bouncing on a cloud, right over a crop that was in desperate need of watering. Big Macintosh and Fluttershy were very proud parents that day, when their daughter's flank blossomed with her special cutie mark. While Splash is a mare of few words, her motivation is clear to everypony: she loves to make nature flourish by bringing the rains, and nothing will stop her from doing her job.

    • [*:3tn5nm83]Splash loves the outdoors dearly, especially when rain is due. Being cooped up indoors triggers her claustrophobia, unfortunately.
      The smells of baking apples, cinnamon, and freshly cut grass.
      Savory foods. She likes apples and cinnamon, but other sweets are too strong for her. Her favorite food is steamed alfalfa sprouts.
      Apple Bucking with Daddy Big Mac and Auntie AJ. She can get rather overzealous with the task however, and has bucked a few trees till the trunks cracked.
      Winona, the faithful farm dog. Splash will never forget the fun they had when she was just a little foal.
      Fireflies. She'd never admit it, but on summer nights, she'll go out with a jar to catch some, like little school-aged foals do.
      Camping in the Everfree forest. The thrill of the potential dangers lurking in the mists and shadows is too much to pass up, for her. Its even better when she brings along her best friend, Pumpkin Pop.

    Dislikes:

    • [*:3tn5nm83] Large crowds. Splash is a rather "keep to herself" pony, and finds crowds noisy, oppressive, and just plain annoying.
      Splash has never been one to read a book. She's smart, but she's bored by studying and prefers a hands-on approach to things. School, thusly, was dreadfully boring to her.
      Her flight injury from her school days, which damaged the right part of her face. While its nothing awful, she's ashamed of the scars and tries everything she can not to let others see.
      Admitting she is wrong. Even when she's been beaten, she'll never get it go.
      Sweet foods. They make her mouth gum up and her tongue hurt. Even the smell of things like frosting and cake batter make her feel sickly.
      Talking. She almost never says a word, and she prefers it that way. She doesn't mind talking to Pumpkin Pop though.

    Character Summary:

    Sometimes, there's nothing extra involved.

    No spells, no preparations, no worries or doubts

    Sometimes, all you need is a little love between two simple ponies.

    And really, that's all you need to know.

    This is the story of a little filly named Apple Splash.

    It wasn't a miraculous birth by any means, but it doesn't make the new life any less special. Apple Splash was born to Fluttershy and Big Macintosh on a cold, rainy night on Sweet Apple Acres. She was a curious little thing; her body was sturdy and stockier than a pegasus', and her wings were little more than tiny feathered nubs. Nevertheless, she was a cute lil' filly, with the same half-lidded eyes as her father, and the same serene grace and silky pink hair as her mother. The two parent ponies couldn't be happier with their new charge. They had no idea that she would become such a hoof-full though, and even if they did, they wouldn't love her any less.

    When she was allowed to explore the barn, she immediately made for the open doors. Splash desperately wanted to see and feel the rain that tapped against the windows...it was strange. It was beautiful. Every gossamer drop that shined on the glass were diamonds in her eyes. Of course, Fluttershy kept her from straying, fearful her filly would catch her death in the cold shower. Splash was wily though, and one day, she managed to sneak past her mother and burst into the outdoor world, immediately encountering a puddle. She ignored the cold, and happily splashed in the water until Daddy Mac dragged her back inside for a bath and a lecture. From that day on, she was always darting outside, rain or shine, to play in the fields and around the trees. Before Winona passed on, her and Splash were fast friends, always playing fetch together. Sometimes, she'd work with her dad, and her favorite Auntie Applejack, apple bucking the orchards. She still does this of course, when she can.

    Such tiny wings

    Splash's school days were stressful, to say the least. She had never said a word since her birth, and it confounded the teachers, and incited jeering from the other students. It didn't help that she had to go to a school in Ponyville where she would be the only pegasus, because her wings were far too small for any Cloudsdale flight camp. School couldn't hold her attention; she just stared out of the windows, watching the bustling town. Sometimes she'd try a hoof at drawing. While drawing wasn't meant for her by any means, it was something she could do instead of actually paying attention.

    A sample of her school doodles. Aww.

    As she got a little older, she finally met who would become her best friend: a little Earth Pony colt named Pumpkin Pop. While he was bubbly, loud, and always excited, she was normally calm and collected. He was the first to ever coax her to speak...by simply asking her "why not talk?"

    Her response?

    "I just don't feel like it."

    They became inseparable that day.

    Her bestest friend in the whole world, Pumpkin Pop.

    After regular pony school, she was finally offered the chance to attend a flight camp in Cloudsdale. She was delighted, even though she was far older than the other students, and thus was faced with more teasing. Splash however, had trouble leaving the clouds. Her wings weren't big enough to catch the air and lift her away. Gliding wasn't even an option for her. Numerous flight tutors from all over Cloudsdale were called in to aid the little filly, but to no avail; they had no idea how to get her off the ground. When Splash told Pumpkin Pop that she would never fly, he called nonsense. Pop took her under his hoof, and tried to tutor her himself, despite not having wings of his own. However, he did know a thing or two about his own kind, and he knew how strong an Earth Pony's muscles were.

    Pumpkin Pop had devised a plan to get her off the ground. He suggested to her that she use her strong shoulders to power her flight, instead of relying solely on her wings catching the air. She was not too willing to believe him, but...she gave it a shot.

    Flying has certainly become one of her favorite things. She's still trying to find a way to get Pumpkin Pop in the air with her.

    She graduated from flight camp with flying colors. Though she wasn't very fast, and wasn't the most graceful, she was still a capable flier. And now that she could fly, she could visit one of her dream destinations: the Cloudsdale Weather Factory. She visits every single day, watching other Pegasi create all of the wonders of nature she loved so much. Splash always brought back spare clouds from the Factory that she and Pumpkin Pop could play with, creating puddles and playing "Rain Tag." Pumpkin Pop didn't mind that he was always "it." Her parents weren't very happy about her constantly stealing Factory scraps, but she was still a young filly who had a wild streak larger than either of them combined, and they believed she would get bored with clouds soon enough. There's only so many times a pony can play Rain Tag...

    During one of her playtimes with Pumpkin Pop, she discovered something: she could use some of the water from the clouds she took, to water thirsty crops and trees. While the Weather Crew did a great job in watering Ponyville, sometimes the Farm needed a bit more attention. So she spent her day grabbing many water-fattened clouds from the Factory, while Pumpkin Pop scouted to find dry patches. Big Macintosh and Fluttershy watched their daughter breathe life into the Farm, and couldn't have been more proud when a pretty little cutie mark blossomed on her flanks. She had been the last of the town's foals to earn her cutie mark, and she was just fine with that. Apple Splash had finally found her place in Ponyville.

    It wasn't long after she had been Marked, when she faced a period of great hardship in her life. She had gone out in the middle of a thunderstorm to fetch some goods from the town, but the wind was too powerful. She couldn't stabilize her flight, and the gale-force winds sent her crashing headlong into a tall, rocky cliff. Everypony was shocked that morning, when they found her curled up, cold and battered, on the front stoop of the doctor's home.

    When she had been patched up, she overheard the doctor telling her parents that she'll never fly again. A half-blind Pegasus has no business flying. Splash was distraught. Moreso, she was furious. How dare they say she can't fly anymore! She had a passion in life, and nothing would stop her, not even her injuries. When she was done recovering from the accident, she and Pumpkin Pop slinked away in secret, to practice flying. Her blinded eye cost her depth perception, a crucial flying key. Determined to best her handicap, she and Pop worked tirelessly for weeks, then months.

    Once again, Pumpkin had a solution, though it was the result of scouring Twilight Sparkle's formidable library. He found that if she moved her head from side to side in flight, her eye would be able to focus, to better judge distances and depth. She thought it was silly, but utterly brilliant, and gave it a shot.

    Pumpkin Pop never thought he'd get sick of apples until Splash brought him a basketful every single day for the rest of the season. He ate them anyways, pleased that Splash could take to the skies again.

    To this day she continues to water the fields and trees of Sweet Apple Acres, though she has to travel a bit farther now. A fully grown mare now, she's moved away from home to her own little farm just outside of Ponyville with Pumpkin Pop, who she happily married, and started a family of her own with. They're the proud parents of twins: an Earth pony filly named Apple Seed, and a Pegasus colt named Sun Splash. This happy little family can often be found in Everfree Forest, camping and catching fireflies, roasting apples over a fire and telling scary stories.

    By golly, she's still trying. :(
